The tiny town of Mesilla has a quaint downtown square with a few specialty shops and restaurants and, as a tea lover, I made a beeline for this place. The shop is stuffed with all sorts of loose teas, local products, honey, essential oils, and tea making accessories. Pretty much any of the locally made items would make outstanding souvenirs for any foodie. I make hot tea a lot, so I wanted to peruse all the loose leaf teas. My normal tea shop has a better and larger selection, but I really wanted to support this small business. I had a few questions about the teas for sale, and while the girls working the day I visited were very eager to help, they were sadly not well-versed in tea. Because of this, I ended up just purchasing a standard oolong because I didn't have a lot of confidence in their tea knowledge (just FYI; hopefully the owners will do a bit better training). I don't expect workers to be brew experts, but I would appreciate more thorough knowledge about specialty products. The prices are about what you'd expect for a touristy type tea shop, and when I got home, I made a pot of the oolong and it was tasty. If you love tea, check this place out if you're in the area. Living in Las Cruces, is a nice option to have since we don't have Trader Joe's. I occasionally visit this store, only during the day as there are always homeless asking for help in the parking lot. I always check the Clearance section in the back for discounted items. Most of them are not a big savings, over priced items a dollar off. One time, I received the weekly flyer on my email so I went to the store to get the Mahi Mahi at a good sale price. The gentleman at the counter didn't know of any special on their website. The next day I went back and I spoke with the manager and I showed him the posted photo of the fish on sale. He apologized and said that they didn't receive the fish and offered me a rain check. I said it is fine, but I think your staff should know what is on the special of the week since you don't post them in your store. He replied that it wasn't posted following instructions from the company.Today 9/7, I visited the store. I checked the yogurt section and the discounted option had an BB date on August 27, 10 days ago! I think there are plenty of training opportunities for the staff in this store.

For instance, they have Lay's truffle flavored potato chips from France, squid flavored Lay's (I forgot which country those are from), berry Oreos from Japan and ketchup flavored Ruffles from Belgium. There's different Japanese Kit Kat's and all kinds of drinks to include some familiar brands like Coke and Red Bull. They have different Pringles like Mayo and Cheese flavor and Seaweed flavor, but be expected to pay. The Pringles were $10 and I bought I giant bag of Ruffles that set me back $14. From what I could see, prices ranged from $6 to $16. It's a really fun selection of snacks to have occasionally especially if they have something that you're craving that you can't get anywhere else.
