Truly Magical! Worth Every Penny! As a first-time customer…read moreof Not Just Cake, I initially questioned whether the endless stream of flawless 5-star reviews could truly be justified. I had never tasted one of Simren's cakes before, nor did I know anyone personally who had ordered from her, so the decision felt like serious leap of faith. The price point also gave me pause, especially since it is easily twice that of established local bakeries like Konditor Meister, Yum Bunnies, Donnas, Flour, or Icing on the Cake, etc. However, after speaking with Simren, it became immediately evident that her work exists on an entirely different level. Her passion, artistry, and meticulous attention to detail are truly extraordinary. I ordered a Harry Potter themed cake for my child's 8th birthday, and I was absolutely astonished. The cake was nothing short of a masterpiece. The golden snitch, Harry's glasses, the sorting hat, and an unbelievable edible fondant book with the number 8 on top looked cinematic in their precision. The photographs do not even begin to capture how breathtaking it was in person. And then there was the taste. We chose vanilla cake, triple berry mascarpone, raspberry preserve infused with saffron, cardamon, and rose... it was unquestionably the finest cake we have ever tasted. Made with the cleanest, freshest, highest-quality ingredients and just the right touch of sweetness, it felt both indulgent and perfectly balanced. Every guest devoured it and wanted to know where it came from. After 40 years of trying bakeries throughout Massachusetts, I can say with complete confidence that this is in a league of its own. Simren is not simply a baker. She is a true artist. Not Just Cake transformed our celebration into something unforgettable. It is an absolute must-buy!

I woke up with a very specific craving for mochi, and my dear husband gave in and drove me 20…read moreminutes to Crystal Bakery. We ended up getting two strawberry cream mochi, one mango cream mochi, and the mango pomelo sago. The sago was definitely on the expensive side for the portion, but it absolutely hit the spot and satisfied the craving. The mochi was the real star. The outer layer was soft, chewy, and pillowy, while the filling was light, creamy, and not overly sweet. The strawberry cream mochi tasted fresh and delicate, and the mango version was rich, fruity, and refreshing. Each one felt like biting into a little cloud. The mango pomelo sago was creamy and packed with mango flavor, making for a nice contrast to the mochi. Not exactly an everyday treat given the prices, but for a special craving, it was worth the drive and I'd happily come back.

Fresh mochi with matcha cream and taro paste, rolled in butter crunch flakes. The order took more than a few minutes to get ready, and it's a little hard to know if your order is ready because there is no visual indicator (a screen displaying order numbers would be so helpful). The staff also wasn't the most careful with the way they were using gloves, they touched their face, the register etc etc. Plus the place is small without any seating so it can get crowded and you don't even know how much time for your order to be ready. But omg the mochi was spectacular. Soft chewy tasty not too sweet. Absolutely smacked it out of the park. A lot of points to improve upon but 5 star mochi.

But of course, the cakes are the real star--they are absolutely delicious and tasted incredibly fresh. The cakes were perfectly moist and soft, with an ideal texture. Their signature cream cheese frosting is truly incredible and pairs perfectly with the cake flavors, providing a pleasant tang to balance the sweetness. I will definitely be referring people to come back for more! KC

I'd heard about nothing Bundt cakes from colleagues but never had any close to me so when I had the chance to sink my teeth into some deliciousness, I jumped at the opportunity. Walked in to an empty store around 5 on a Saturday and was quickly greeted. It was clean and bright with the display case being the first thing you see. The flavors are pretty well outlined online so I knew exactly what I wanted and was on my way in minutes. When I got home I started the project of trying each of the 4 flavors I got. The current special is Oreo peanut butter and it was surprisingly good; wasn't sure if PB would go well with the Oreos but it did! There was a nice chunk of PB in the center. Also had the carrot, cookies and cream and white chocolate raspberry. All of them were delicious and tasted fresh. It's Bundt cake so I didn't expect it to be super moist but it wasn't desiccated either. At just under $8 for a personal cake I felt like the price was reasonable. I've definitely paid more at some of the fancy cookie places that exist.
