It wasn't until I was an adult that I was able to appreciate the nugget of joy The Stand must have been to the southsiders back then and today. I went on a lark after running some errands in town around lunchtime. As an ice cream fanatic, it seemed appropriate that my lunch would consist of a Reese's wipeout. It was evenly mixed and solid, a la the DQ upside down maneuver. I was also impressed by their array of specials and food options, which include vegetarian and vegan selections. I had the best coney dog I've ever had in my life here. No exaggeration! Don't let that other popular place keep you in a chokehold- this PLACE is the real deal. The bun was soft but but wet- that's a winner! The hot dog was typical - the coney sauce was the true winner here! It was excellent. This review is about our experience with the desserts at The Stand. The Stand has a drive thru and a place you can go up to the counter and order. There is outdoor seating as well. I wanted to add that there is a separate entrance to go into/out of the parking lot. The entrance is in front of the golf place. I ordered the Brownie Bomb and the portion size was big. There is brownie on the bottom, and on top of the ice cream. The brownie bomb also comes with whip cream, chocolate chips, and chocolate syrup. This dessert is super sweet. My other half ordered the Banana Bogie. This dessert comes with vanilla ice cream, pineapple and strawberries chucks, and chocolate syrup. It also has whip cream and pecans on top. We both thought the desserts were great and the price point isn't bad either. We are both looking forward to coming here again and try even more desserts, or regular menu items. read more

The stand is absolutely a staple. If it's open and you're nearby, you need to go. The options are unlike any other ice cream place. They have so many different types of ice cream and so many different accommodations for all types of eaters. It's really stable of the community and is a fan favorite. There's not a time in summer that there will not be a line but it's definitely worth the wait to support them. The food is always phenomenal and the service is quick and efficient as much as it can be for the service that they're providing. Sometimes there are delays, but it is a very busy place that has a lot of staff in a very small space so I'd highly encourage you to wait and be patient with them because the food and the Coney dogs are just, something that is needed during the summer heat. Not to mention if you're traveling through from the airport or just not a long-term visitor in Waynedale I highly recommend the stand because there is merch so that could be a fun souvenir for people out of town. As a self-proclaimed hot dog aficionado, this dog stand caught my eye while on the South side of the Fort on business. The Stand carried a 4.5 Yelp rating at the time of my visit which further added to my interest in sampling one of the top dogs in the Hoosier State. I love the shade trees and picnic tables available for dining al fresco in front of the Stand giving it the feeling of a "grove" in the city. From the menu with 23 varieties of different hot dogs, I sampled a simple Coney as well as a Texas Dog dressed up with bacon, tangy BBQ sauce and finely chopped white onions. I found the Coney sauce, BBQ sauce, sweet raw white onions and steamed buns to be outstanding validating the 4.5 stars. However, the wiener itself was only meh...a thin, plain-Jane beef and pork sausage probably boiled in bulk. Nevertheless, the flavor and texture of the fixins made up for the meager meat making the Stand a tasty casual lunch under the maples on a warm summer day...4 stars. read more

Have always heard of this place so on a nice sunny day we took a drive to get a treat. Plenty of outside seating nice parking g and a clear in and out driveways with signs o. Where to enter and exit. They also have a playground for the kiddos to play on. The menu is pretty big for a small local ice cream stand. If you'd rather have food they have that too Cones shakes blizzard type things etc etc all can be found at this cute little place. Employees all wore gloves and mask and the tables were marked off so ppl could sit the appropriate distance from each other. Umbrellas are on the tables but they also have benches if you prefer that. If you don't want to walk up to the order window don't worry they have a drive up also. It' wasn't as busy as the walk up either on this day. We got hand Scooped cones and the cones were fresh and the ice cream was very very creamy and rich. We also got a swirl soft serve and it was also Henry creamy and delicious. They offer a flavor of the day and vanilla or chocolate for their soft serve. Both were smalls and more than enough to satisfy our sweet tooth. We also purchased fries, they only have one size, and a small soda. They usually come with refills but not at this time which I didn't know. She said it did then when I went up to get a refill they said no. Kind of upsetting since a small soda was over $2. It's also very pricey. For two cones fries and soda it was $14. Eek. I'd go again. For a treat but it's pretty far from my house. Took me about 22'. Glad we went and def recommend. Enjoy. read more

Can't believe I just now discovered this gem! The staff was super friendly, whether you are in the drive thru or at the walk up window. They have a stellar menu with a variety of coney dog options and, of course, sweet treats. I have only tried the ice cream thus far, but I will definitely be returning to try some food! Most recently I ordered the Reese's bomb sundae. Holy cow, it was amazing! A Reese's cup on the bottom topped with ice cream covered in hot fudge and peanut butter, more Reese's chunks on top and then whipped cream. Need I say more? This is literally one of my favorite places to go and get ice cream besides zestos . The stand is just a little better just because of the variety of desserts and regular food they have. It's easy to get in and out of the entrance and it's not in a super busy area. I recently came here with my mom . We ordered a lemonade shake up, a taco in a bag, and cheese fries. Everything was good as always ! The staff is always nice and patient. I am sad that they no longer have the strawberry creme drink which I loved so much. Everything on their menu is good! I haven't had one thing I didn't like, and their menu has lots of fun things to try. I love their chili dogs and frankly I think they're better than Fort Wayne's famous coney island. The employees always provide great service, we have never had an issue. While I have questioned ordering a specific type before (didn't know if it'd be good), I've never been disappointed. What a fun little place. Outdoor seating means fresh air and sunshine, paired with an array of cold desserts, hot dogs, and fried sides. Very inexpensive, and the staff inside were very cheerful and quick the two times we visited this summer. Also, they're pet-friendly! We had our tiny, well-behaved little dog in the car the second time and they said pets are welcome as long as they don't make messes... so we got to enjoy coneys and ice cream, sitting under a picnic umbrella with our little guy on a beautiful summer day, which felt like taking a vacation right here at home.
