Terrible got it to go no sauce hardly on anything. Told them I was gluten-free could I just get the sauce on the side? Poor kid said no my boss says I can't do that so he put it on the hotdog and there was none on there hardly not even enough to transfer it to my gluten free bun for one dog and I got two. My husband's hotdog hardly had any sauce. The hotdog's looked disgusting sad not sure what happened to the place because it used to be really good. Sadly I will not be back. read more

this was my first time trying there food , and it wasn't the greatest , I've had better this one wasn't that good , great people and service and everything ! food was nice and hot but there's barely any taste in the food only thing I tasted was the mustard and onions but nothing from the coney sauce read more

We were driving through New Haven and didn't want to wait another half hour to get home and eat, so we stopped in here. I got a pork tenderloin sandwich (a normal sized one not a Hoosier sized one for those of you who know what I mean. It tasted wonderful. I told my husband it tasted like it was breaded on the premises. (Maybe...maybe not...but it tasted like it.) He got a cheeseburger and fries. He was happy with both. It was our first time going into Coney Dog Cafe today, a very nice restaurant and a clean restaurant. The staff were friendly and greeted us with a smile. We barely had to wait 10 minutes for our food to come out nice and hot. Even with eating the chilli last it still was nice and warm. All the food was good, especially the onion rings I would say make the meal. We will be coming back for more great food next time! read more

Well..Hmmm Will never go again. Husbands food cold. Who eats cold sliders with no onions ?? Unless you order no onions. Cold slaw dogs. Looked like they weren't even cooked at all and tasted old and boiled. Hot fries and onion rings. Very nice waitress. Still kinda dirty looking . Old used menus on the table. Yeah wrinkled and dried food on them. Holy cow !! That's it for ConeyDog Cafe in New Haven. Sad. read more

Definitely some of the worst food I've had in a long time. The Coney dogs were soggy and kind of tasteless. The slider was equally tasteless. The french fries were cold and the prices were high. Won't be going back there again. read more

I walked in here Saturday and WOW! A total remodel and job well done guys! The place is beautiful and looks bigger than you ever did! I got my usual 3 coneys and fries . Service was so fast I barely had time to drink much of my Mt. Dew. As usual great coneys great fries and I am so impressed at the new look! read more

Coney Dog Cafe is one of the hottest restaurants in New Haven! A reservation 3 weeks in advance will still have you eating after 5pm, and even then you may get "bumped" by a celebrity patron. In our case, it was an employed person. In all honesty, these are not the kind of places that I am inclined to like very much, but this place offers up amazing food at a really affordable price's(see pictures), so like every mere mortal, I anxiously await my turn in the very short line to eat here. It really is worth the effort., That was a newspaper food critics type review. Now what do you really want to know? Is it really worth the effort to go? Depends, if you are looking for a typical dough nut type shop atmosphere. With newspapers laying out? No they don't buy any, a customer will have to leave one. The chief, was a young teenager. He was replaced by a very experienced type hot dog chief. This should tell you about the skill level of the employees that got (retired) here. The food is very well garnished, with fresh buns. But the hot dags are of economical meat? And had oil coming up my throat, after about a half an hour. Even with the bread from the bun. The french fries are also oily and did the same thing. All in all it is not that bad of a place to go to. *Note* If they went down to Wall mart, instead of the Gordon's Food supply. Then bought expensive "all beef" hot dogs. Visited today...and we ordered a variety of items. My kids are not huge Coney dog fans so we were glad to find lots of different options for them. My husband and I sampled the New England. Chicago and regular Coney dogs along with a slider for each of us. They were delicious! We also ordered two onion rings (go ahead and order the family size because we loved them so much we ended up eating another order!). The onion rings were nice and crispy and the perfect size - not too thin or fat. Our kids both ordered the walking taco which they gobbled down. They said they were better than the other ones I do at home, hands down. The service was also excellent - we had Cassie as our server. The foot came out quick so even if you I don't have a lot of time, you can pick something up fast. I noticed there were a lot of carry out while we were enjoying the dine in. So next time you are nearby either one of their two locations, stop in for a quick bite; you'll be glad you did! read more

This is a coney dog/hot dog/corn dog/slider burger/fries and onion rings kind of place. With that as an expectation this place exceeded my expectations. GREAT value, great quality and very friendly atmosphere. Our family of 4 ate here for 15$! Two corn dogs, two Chicago dogs, a fresh polish sausage, an order of fries and an order of onion rings all for 15$. The corn dog was fresh and crispy, the onion rings were so good my three year old tried them! Very family friendly. A dress down, relax type of place. It is dated decor wise but as long as they are serving up such good food I don't really care if they have a three stooges stand up in the dining area. TVs up in the back for the kids to watch and be entertained. Clean bathrooms. read more

Worst sloppy joe I've ever had way too sweet and didn't seam like ground beef made in house. Sliders had mound of onions and all I tasted was the overpowering taste of mustard and this was after scraping as much as I could off. Walking Taco is a bag of dorito's with meat, lettuce and cheese. Was dissatisfied that there was no salsa, sour cream, tomatoes or black olives. Saldly disappointed in the food. We should have tried the coney dogs. Food gets only 1 star but the service was very nice. Place was clean. read more

Great coney dogs, great chili and hot fries! This is not a place to go if you want fine dining in four or five courses...but if you are looking for one of the best coney dogs and a great bowl of chili (get the cheese and onions on the chili...it is not real spicy without), this is a great place for lunch. Have been there before and expected the long wait for my food, but I did not expect that the potato soup to be so flavorless and I could not even chew the bun on my Chicago dog. The drink and the fries were fine.. When I told the waitress that I could not even chew the bun she didn't offer me another bun. I would have been ok with than. 3 coneys and ice tea for carry-out 10 minutes before closing. Small amount of coney sauce on each dog would have been better all on one dog. I don't know if carry-out was a factor or if they sold all their coney sauce earlier in the day. I've been there a few times before and it was okay, but this visit will be my last.
