I visited the salon on December 2, 2025 for a classic quick-weave and ends trim with Kia. When my hair was completed, she handed me the mirror and from the front it looked great. However, once I arrived home and began preparing to roll my hair up, I noticed that the track at the top of my head was clearly showing. I texted Kia immediately, explained what I saw, and sent a picture of the exposed track. I saw that the message was read but received no reply. I assumed she might still be busy or off work, so I waited. The next day, December 3rd, after still receiving no response, I left a voicemail explaining the situation again and asking for a call back so we could discuss a solution. I still never received any response. I'm leaving this review because I find the lack of communication and follow-through very unprofessional. Kia completed my service and saw the top of my head-- and there is no reason I should have been allowed to walk out the door with tracks showing. Even if mistakes happen, I would have appreciated at least an acknowledgment and an attempt to correct it. I had planned to return for future styles and even had a referral for her, but unfortunately, due to this experience, I'm no longer able to patronize or recommend services. read more

I scheduled an appointment from the IG site and I looked at all the stylist work and they all were so good so it was hard to pick the one to do my hair. My decision was based on a phone call that I made. I only saw a 9am opening for the date I needed my service. When I called the stylist answered and I mentioned I wanted to book a 9am appointment but had an issue with my transportation. The stylist was so friendly and said that she would come in early for me at 8:30. Which was perfect as I would've just been standing outside until 9am. When I arrived I was greeted, my temperature checked, I read and signed the Covid form and sanitized my hands. Which was a little shocking as I've been to a couple of salons prior and none of them was taking those type of safety precautions. I sat down and was asked if I wanted something to drink, how did I hear about the salon, and what were my hair goals. I was taken a back because I didn't think you could get this type of professionalism in a black salon located in Bronzeville. To say the least my expectations were over achieved. I got a flawless installation, protective foundation, and a few goodies to take home for my dry scalp. I've gotten so many compliments on my hair and the extensions that I purchased from the salon. You know your hair is on point when a man says he wants to get some hair like that for his girl. (Lol) Starr was amazing, and as I watched other stylist come in and interact with their clients I felt included in the conversation that was about women empowerment, their upcoming salon team building activity, and a cook out for the community. The atmosphere was great and the girls are as well and very talented with what they do. I have referred all my friends and family as I want them to get the experience I had. I'll be back this week for a recurl and I will definitely let you know how my 2nd visit goes. Support our black owned business especially when they are doing great things in and for the community. The worst experience ever! I have missed two business appointments because of her being inconsiderate! I get there to me appt on time at 12:45p she tells me oh I'm a hour behind (which was 1.5 hrs) I am like ok I wish you would have called me. I reminded her that last time I was late 10-1in she was quick to charge me the late fee. She responds.... i will accommodate everyone.. I left end came back an hour later like a fool for her to tell me that she is doing us a favor by honoring our appts since she is behind... she told me my appt is still the same price and she has to go on vacation so if I don't want to patronize her I don't have to.... I tried to reason with her and tell her she does some really great hair and I really wanted her services but she was being very indifferent. At this point she is just in it for the money. I wish I could give negative stars her lack of punctuality ruined my girlfriend's day. She made the mistake of booking this lady, and because she showed up hrs late to work, it ruined the entire schedule. When confronted about it, she was very uncouth and nonchalant. Business owners like this lady gives all business owners a bad name. How she made it this far with atrocious customer service is mind boggling. So as I stated previously she did an amazing job on my hair despite being 30 late. She's Very unprofessional & unnecessarily expensive. I don't know why we continue to go to these hair stylist that don't want to wash your hair but still want to charge you the full amount. I've been to this stylist twice. The 1st time I was early and she was 30 min behind bc she was still with another client. I already had an up down ponytail & I only needed her to fix the top part which was very little work, I just needed her to unravel the weave & wash my hair, my sew-in was only 2 weeks old & the weave was curly so very low maintenance. She did fix the top which I very pleased with, but she charged $126 for doing half of a head. So the 2nd time I was late bc of the 1st experience and she didn't want to do my sew-in bc she said "she doesn't play about her time" so she did an ugly synthetic ponytail. I had a 3rd appointment bc I really needed a sew-in since she wasn't able to do it at the last appointment but she decided to ask me for a $50 deposit the day b4 my appointment and I thought that was ridiculous since the last time I booked for a sew-in she didn't request a deposit plus I book through styleseat and they have your credit card on file so if you are a no call no show they charge you the full amount. On top of that nowhere on the site does she say she requires a $50 deposit to keep your appointment & that should have been said at the time of booking. read more
