Don't waste your time or money. I sure won't be again. I ordered the BLT and got an LT sandwich it had one tiny little piece of bacon that was broken up to pieces. The bread was also toasted to the max making it extremely hard. Worst BLT sandwich I have ever had. read more

The Station Bakery & Café was moved a couple years ago from their original location in High Springs' actual railway depot to a new building on US 441. Apparently there were issues with the rent the owner of the depot wanted so the folks behind the Station--and elderly couple and their daughter--bought this new property outright and moved. I understand their motives, but it's something of a shame because the old depot was great for this train-themed restaurant whereas their new quarters seem impersonal. I'm not sure what this building served as before, but some sort of retail store--maybe auto parts or such. Maybe a restaurant before, though in any case the owners have put a good effort into remodeling it to suit them but it just seems . . . generic. Certainly not as fun as the old depot. The sandwiches are pretty typical but decent portions and the owners are very nice people. The father was a candy-maker before he retired to Florida from New York he's said, and he still makes old-fashioned pralines and other candies for the Station and the pralines rock. They also have ice cream and home-made cakes--many, many, varieties of cakes. I've found the cakes overall to be overwrought--just too much buttercream icing, too sweet. And because they are huge cakes, they often sit there a while and you may get a piece that's a bit stale. I mean, they have normally five or more huge cakes--chocolate, carrot cake, lemon and who knows what else. There are like at least two other good bakeries in High Springs so I don't think the demand for all these cakes is constantly high and they don't tend to sell out the day they were made, if you get my drift. The key lime cookies, when they have them, are very good though and the lemon cake isn't bad when fresh. Once alas there was a pineapple cake which was an abomination, however. If you come for lunch, I'd suggest the Cuban sandwich, reuben, or BLT. I've never tried their ice cream and I don't know where they get it from. I hope they don't make it: they seem overworked for a retired couple as it is. I wish I could give more than three stars because these folks are so darn nice, but I think three reflects the food fairly (aside from the pralines which are five-stars for sure). read more

I eat here 3 or 4 times a year. The owners are really friendly and have been in High Springs a long time. The desserts are really good and they have ice cream. The sandwiches are very tasty, they use all fresh ingredients and high quality meats & veggies. They make everything from scratch and the meat is not pre-sliced. Come here if you have some time for lunch though. They are a little pricey and take their time.... I guess both are the price for fresh. read more

This is my favorite place in High Springs. When I was in middle school (I am 27 now so...you do the math!) I used to walk to their previous location to do homework and eat huge pieces of homemade strawberry shortcake before my very health-conscious mom could pick me up. Flash forward to Santa Fe High School when I was a tutor for High Springs students...I would come here before tutor sessions to organize worksheets, grade the home work I had assigned, and read my horoscope in Coffee News (middle school love is important!) while eating a big Reuben. In college, I still tutored so the tradition survived for the most part. When they moved locations, ironically, I had moved to North Carolina for law school. When I came back to visit and drove to the previous location, I was HEARTBROKEN. Now, years after graduation, I am back in the area for work and lo' and behold, I FOUND THEM (thank you Yelp). Less than a mile(ish? two miles? idk it's close) away, they are still churning out delicious sammies, pastries, and ice cream. It sounds weird to say, but when I saw their faces behind the counter, I teared up a little bit because it truly was a wonderful homecoming to see that they are still doing so well and are still working together as a family to make DELICIOUS FOOD/other people happy. I can't say enough positive things about this establishment I ate my huge Reuben smiling because I saw that they had a fresh Strawberry Shortcake waiting for me in the window. Stopped in for lunch and we both had the Station Special sandwiches and potato salad. It was very good, although a bit pricey for what you get. However, the triple chocolate tort was pretty amazing and the cookies are good. Not sure that I'll come back for lunch but this is the go-to place for dessert, for sure. read more

I have traveled far and wide with many different peoples, this place was bad sorry to say. You need to plan for a half day when ordering a sandwich, other reviews do not reflect objective business practices of customer consideration outside the local level. 42 minutes later customer asked about status of sandwich to owner, he replied it's done when it's finnished. No empathy for three other long waiting customers ether. No look of concern at all. I understand local small town practices and enjoy the break from the fast pace, however it has it's limitations at the inconsiderate level. The elderly man taking the orders was very easily angered when ask about my order. And the elderly women cooking was not concern ether and angered. your on their time in their world and you need to deal with it. Well, asked once more after 45 minutes and pleaded just for a status check, they had enough of me I guess and returned my money. My wife was in the car pleading with me to forget about the $6.32 and I was just about to but he gave back the money after the last request of status. read more
