This place has a really fun variety of pastries from different countries, which is a unique layout! I got here around 10am and they still had a decent selection left, though you could tell there had been a lot more earlier in the morning. I went with a lingonberry custard pastry (I forgot what the actual name was) and it was absolutely delicious! The tart lingonberries, creamy custard, flaky pastry, and sweet glaze all complemented each other so well. I do wish there was a lot more filling and that it was more evenly distributed, as I only got a few bites with the filling and the rest were just plain pastry with glaze (still yummy though). We got to Baker Baker around 8:10am on A Saturday and they were already sold out of most things, which honestly just shows how loved they are. The lady at the front was so kind and welcoming, even though it was clear they'd had a rush (it was Easter weekend, so totally understandable that people came early and stocked up!). Everything is super reasonably priced,all items are $3, and you can get a half dozen for just $12. That's wild for the quality you're getting! They have an amazing variety: danishes, cookies, pound cakes, and more. We ended up with a vanilla glazed cinnamon bun, lemon pound cake, cinnamon danish crunch, almond cloud cookie, karma cookie, and a pecan pie bar to split with one of my close friends, and every single bite was absolutely delicious. I wish I had known there was a line forming right at 7am. I would've rolled out of bed sooner. Thankfully, they told us you can call ahead and reserve, which we might just do next time because I'm already thinking about going back. I highly recommend the danishes & vanilla cinnamon glaze glazed bun and the pecan pie bar! Overall: Wow I can't believe I haven't reviewed them yet and I've been coming here for years!! If you are ever in Gainesville you need to come here and come here early bc they sell out fast especially when there are games! Ambiance: It's at 4th Ave Food Park. You should be able to find parking if it's during the week bc it's in the morning and the park is usually crowded on the weekends with games. You walk in and it's the bakery. You see fresh baked goods and the team working hard. It's an open-ish kitchen. Service: Always friendly and quick! Food: Everything that I've gotten has been great so far. I avoid anything with meat but not a problem for a bakery. My favorites are the pecan pie bar, which is surprising bc it is definitely sweet and I'm not a big fan of super sweet things. I won't waste anyone's time here-this is the best glazed doughnut I've ever had. It's big and bouncy and strikes the perfect balance of delightful chewiness and krispy kreme-esque melt-in-your-mouth-ness. There's an appropriate amount of sweetness, as well, where you might struggle if you have sensitive teeth but you aren't totally overwhelmed. God it was so good. Had a morning meeting in Gainesville so pulled up Yelp and sought out the best rated pastry. Didn't disappoint! Friendly service as I walked through the door and you could tell that their options were dwindling even at 8:30am! I'd be curious to see everything available when they first open up. I asked for recommendations, and was directed toward the breakfast tart and the butter croissant. Both were very satisfying. The breakfast tart was hearty, a pillowing pastry filled with potatoes, eggs, bacon, and cheese. I was hungry and this thing vanished as I hit red lights on my way to the meeting. The croissant was enjoyed in a much more controlled manner while sipping my coffee. Buttery and flavorful without being overly crumbly. Bakerbaker is euphoria at its best! If you have a chance, you should definitely pay Amanda's Traditional Bakeshop a visit. It is located on 4th Ave right behind 2nd Ave Center and across from the UF artHAUS. You will not regret it. The storefront is simple and chic. It really stands out in the tiny shopping center with its minimalist sign and white varnish. The large window gives you an instant preview of the joys there are to come. I opened the door to Bakerbaker to the euphoric aromas of fresh croissants baking with hints of cinnamon in the air. A little boy worked the front counter, making it it a unique experience. The bake shop itself was really small, but I loved how open the space was. Everything was really simple and straight to the point. The baked goods are displayed in the baskets. The bakers bake the baked goods on the countertops and in the ovens behind the display. The simple wood decor and white walls really helped open up the space. I don't know why, but it felt like I was in Mendl's Bake Shop (from the Grand Budapest Hotel). The bake shop looked nothing like Mendl's, but the people (possibly the baker with the beard) and overall vibe just made me feel like I was somewhere other than Gainesville. The staff was warm and inviting. The little boy was knowledgeable and quite helpful. He informed me that the cookies (usually 4 for $2) could be included in the 3 for $5 deal, so I proceeded to choose 4 cookies and two pastries (all for $5, what a steal!) For such a small space, there was so much to choose from! There were muffins, cookies, danishes, croissants, and everything in between. I really could not believe the price and care that went into each little delectable. The pastries were made in smaller batches which really made a difference. I chose the almond and dark chocolate croissants along with two chocolate chip cookies and two Karma cookies (Dates, trail mix, and all kinds of healthy goodies). The croissants were perfectly crispy and were not too buttery. I liked how their croissants did not flake with every bite like how some bakeries make them in the US. These are a bit denser than I am accustomed to, but I love the melt in your mouth quality. The light dust of powdered sugar (on both croissants) really added a nice touch. If you do not have a super sweet tooth, the Karma cookie is the perfect one for you. It is an oatmeal based cookie loaded up with all kinds of healthy things like dried fruits and nuts. Each bite was soft and goey, but with a nice surprise crunch! The chocolate chip cookie was also not too sweet because of the addition of darker chocolate chips. I was pleasantly surprised with my experience at Bakerbaker. The service, baked goods, decor, and packaging really adds promise to this business and I hope to see it grow in the years to come. The true cons are the hours here. They are only open Monday-Thursday from 7:00AM to 11:00AM, so plan accordingly. It will be worth the trip! read more

Amanda and team are the best. The quality is always consistent and they do a great job of inserting some rotational items while maintaining fan favorites. The only downside for me (and doesn't deserve a star reduction) is the location. I wish there was an option on the west side. It was great carb1loading on a Saturday morning at Haile, but that was a long, long time ago. Hopefully, Amanda will expand out this way again in the future...ideally a second bakery storefront! read more

Finally checked this place out! It is super cute! I got three pastries for $5 and a drip coffee. The pastries were all warm and wonderful! The first was doughy and filled with nutella- yum! The second was their morning bun, which is now my favorite thing ever. Better than a cinnamon roll for sure. The third was a chocolate croissant, which i love. It was actually really good! There was the perfect amount of chocolate, and it wasn't too greasy. The space is super small, and seating is limited. But, it is the perfect spot to stop by on your way to work in the morning. My only criticism is it is not open on the weekends, which makes it hard to get to with early work hours. This far is the best bakery in town! Everything I have had there is so yummy, from their home made granola bars to their yummy assortment of croissants. I have to say their almond croissant roll is so delicious! Many of my co-workers really love this one. I think one of the greatest thing about this bakery is that nothing is over sweeten. It all has the right amount sweetness along with great flavors. They are only open for a short period during the week day, Mon- Thurs. 7am - 11am and closed Friday- Sunday but if you have to have them you can find them at Haile's Farmer's market on Saturday morning. I discovered Amanda before her shop was open. At that time, the only place to gets these luscious pastries was Haile's farmers market. Every Saturday I would go to the Haile market JUST for these. I was so-o-o happy when she opened her store, which is much closer to where I live. Still, if I want a fresh pastry on a Saturday morning (when the store is closed), I'll make the journey to Haile's market. The morning rolls are unbelievable. Croissants are fabulous if you can get them the day they are made. I can't believe she sells these precious pastries at the price she charges.
