Great service and food. I feel the price of the food was too high considering the atmosphere. Prices match a higher end place where as this atmosphere was more casual. I HAD the fillet and my hubby had the ribeye. I thought the fillet was awesome. The ribeye had a lot of fat. We both got the side of broccoli which $5.00 for one small side of broccoli is really high. Was thinking it would be a bigger portion for that price. Side salad was really really good. Over all great place to eat for our area but if I'm going to spend this kind of money would rather go into new orleans or mandeville to a nicer place. Giving 4 stars bc the food was really good for our area (not many good places around). Would love to see a light whiter fish option. Salmon was the only option here. read more

Waited 15 min before a server addressed us. Food is mediocre. Crab soup had a strong bell pepper flavor with no crab. Salad was made with big wet pieces of lettuce. Scallops and cocktail were delicious. Crab cake was the size of a tablespoon with mostly bread. Steak was cooked well, but flavorless. Creamed spinach was good. Service was not awful, but not for an upscale steakhouse. Won't return with all the other options we have. read more

The service was great, and the salmon was some of the freshest and best tasting salmon I've ever had. There was nothing special about the chargrilled oysters. I've had better. They give you a slice of garlic bread for each oyster, but there wasn't enough juice from the oysters to soak up with the bread. I'd definitely return for the salmon. read more

This has been our favorite Restaurant since it opened and most of the time it was good and enjoyable. We always had very good service, however when we went recently, on my Birthday, it was a ruined dinner. The waitress came soon after being seated but it took a long time for the drinks to come. We actually gave her our Steak order before getting the drinks. While I was sitting there I could observe five other tables being seated after us. They got their drinks and salads right away (all other waitresses) and I got really upset when all 5 tables were served their food before us. At that point I asked for the owner to come and we informed her that we were leaving and why. All she said is that they are doing their best, sorry, but "if you don't want your steaks I'll be happy to eat them at home tonight." Right at that moment the steaks came out, so after sitting there for almost two hours we decided to eat them anyway, however with the Owner's attitude I feel that I cannot go there anymore. Without question the best steak restaurant I've ever been to! I'm willing to bet it's the best steak you can get in this entire state or further. The ambiance is so cozy with soft lighting and awesome louisiana jazz music and art. The service is amazing. But above all, the food is absolutely TO DIE FOR. Aside from the incredible filet mignon, don't miss the crab stuffed mushrooms and chili glazed shrimp for appetizers, the steamed broccoli and the Mac and cheese for sides. The Steakhouse Rocks! My parents have raved about this place for a couple of years. When I visited from Sonoma, CA they treated for dinner and it was wonderful. Excellent steaks ordered by the oz and cooked to absolute perfection. The soups, portabella mushroom and crab/ corn chowder are wonderful. Blake Kitchen has created a great little bistro. Its namesake should be its star but unfortunately for premium steak lovers you will be disappointed. Especially considering the prices you would expect only the highest standards. Been several times and ribeye contains way too much fat, filets not tender the way you expect and hardly ever get the steak cooked as ordered. Mostly cooked over what was requested Sides are boring, appetizers over priced and, well, what wine list??? The old location had the atmosphere but that been abandoned at their new spot. Considering their competition in Hammond they'll easily be successful but if you want a better steak head to Rouses and fire up your grill. read more

Never heard of this place until this week, but overall it was very good. Ribeye was outstanding, cooked perfectly with a very nice flavor. Sweet spicy chili shrimp and crab and corn bisque were also excellent, as was pecan pie desert. Service was well done. Only complaints were the $8.75 Leminteaux cocktail, which was bland and forgettable, and the .50 charge for the very small cup of cocktail sauce for the $7.00 fried shrimp added on to the steak. Was that really necessary? Seemed petty to me on a $100+ bill. All in all, despite the aforementioned minor complaints we enjoyed the meal and will probably be back. read more

I have eaten in Ruth Chris Steakhouse and they don't hold a candle to the food here at The Steakhouse in Hammond. Not only is the service excellent, but the food is the best and freshest I have ever had. The steak will melt in your mouth with tenderness, creamed spinach is super fresh, not frozen. Fourth visit to the Steakhouse and still haven't been impressed. (The best visit was the first visit at their old location about two years ago.) The steaks have a good grill flavor, but are not prime cuts. Our waitress was sweet but didn't know the menu and ingredients very well. The chef and/or owner would not accommodate my husband's food allergies. The side salad, cup of soup, and a few of their sides are the same price, but we weren't allowed to substitute a side of the same price in place of a salad/soup (both of which my husband cannot eat due to an autoimmune disease). Most upscale restaurants accommodate their customers food allergies... here they do not. They actually make it a point to charge for many things and have many rules listed right on their menu (i.e. a $10 charge for bringing in an outside cake?!). Maybe they think this behavior makes them more important or more high end? I'm not a fan, and I've eaten at better restaurants in Hammond. read more

We dined here on a Friday evening in celebration of our wedding anniversary. The space is small, though I understand they are moving to a new building soon, and reservations are definitely recommended. We didn't have one, but lucked out by getting there shortly after they opened at 5pm. If you're going there for steak, here's the deal - there are three cuts to choose from - ribeye, filet, and NY strip - they are priced by the ounce and you order the size you want. My husband and I both went for the NY strip, which starts at 6 oz, which was what I got and he got 8 oz. I ordered mine medium well, while he got his medium, and both came out perfectly. The steaks were flavorful and juicy. They came with your choice of a side salad or a cup of soup, and we both had the soup of the day, which was a crab & corn bisque. Delicious! Rich, creamy, seasoned just right, and chock full of both crab meat and fresh corn. Additional sides are ordered a la carte, and we both went for a loaded baked potato. This was a good sized potato, baked perfectly, steaming hot, and loaded down with butter, sour cream, real bacon, cheddar cheese, and chives. Hubby requested his sans the sour cream and they were glad to oblige. They have a handcrafted cocktail menu and since we were celebrating, I splurged and got a watermelon martini. I was actually asked what brand of vodka I'd like in it and went with Grey Goose. The drink had actual fresh watermelon in it and was delicious. I capped off the meal with cheesecake made with John Folses creole cream cheese, which made for a lighter, but no less delicious dessert. We arrived and did not have reservations...and they were so busy we would have an hour wait. We had plans to see a show at 7:30 so we had to leave. We made reservations for three on a Tuesday evening. The setting is nice, service was good and most importantly, the food was great. My husband and son each had a steak and they enjoyed their meal with no complaint. I ordered a salad with beef on the side (it was huge so I was able to share). The restaurant offers beef by the ounce and that is a wonderful option. I was able to order 4 ounces (no waste)! The steaks seemed to be cooked perfectly as was mine even though mine was so small. We also started with stuffed mushrooms. They were done in a purist style, great mushroom taste and hot from the oven topped with contrasting cool, sweet crab. Really delicious. I had a house salad with blue cheese house made dressing. Ordered an appetizer, fried mushrooms and crab meat. For the entrée I had the 10 oz. Rib eye steak with the loaded baked potato. All items served were delicious, the salad was fresh Romaine lettuce. The house made blue cheese dressing was great. The loaded baked potato was creamy and delicious. The Rib eye was superb, cooked medium had a fantastic taste. No marbling and very little fat. Just lean high quality beef. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. When you've had enough of the North Shore pretender steak house disappointments, with their false ambiance and fake charm with less than a high quality product. Last night dined at The Steakhouse for my wife's birthday. Staff and waitress were very good and had our table ready when we arrived. We were seated immediately then the waitress started taking care of us. Excellent service by our waitress. My granddaughter had a strip that had a lot of fat in it, I had the pork chop special that also had more fat on it than I cared for, my wife and daughter had strips that were ok, but not what I would expect for the price. The problem I have is the atmosphere. Our table was just as you enter the restaurant and where everyone going to the bathroom had to go around our table so we had people walking around us while we were dining. The restaurant is a big open room with a lot of tables sitting in it and floor to ceiling glass windows on one side. The sun was going down and shining through the windows into our eyes, not very pleasant. The acoustics are terrible and with the tables as close together as they are the restaurant is very noisy and makes it difficult to hear the waitress at times. Many people were in shorts and dressed very casual. Not what I would expect from a restaurant that charges high end prices. Probably will not return as this was not a very relaxing and enjoyable dining experience. read more

Went to the steakhouse with a party of 13 for our family Christmas dinner. What a disappointment!!!!! And a total ripoff!!!! First of all, we had 3 children that ordered from the kids menu. I upgraded an paid more to get them a filet.They brought them a small salad and when they brought the kids steak it was 2 OZS!!! My poor children were looking at me stunned! And that's all that was on a full dinner plate!!! It was about the size of a half dollar!! Merry christmas because they were starved! If that's all that a child is going to get then the waitress should have informed us or listed the OZS on the menu. Because the kids were still so hungry, the waitress(with an attitude) offered to bring us bread. When we got our bill, which was given on a old fashioned calculator receipt that didn't list what you were Ben being charged for, I asked to speak to the manager and the waitress decided to just tell me what the charges were, they charged each of the bills for the BREAD!!! Are u kidding me??? Also, for drinks they bring out a bottled 8 oz coke or dr pepper and charge INDIVIDUALLY for them!!! The waitress was refilling the drinks without even asking and then charging. Shady! I paid over 100 for one steak and 3 kids meals. Gratuity was already added in so there was no need for the waitress to treat us well. My sister was charged 80 for her meal an that was incorrect and then fixed to be 68.00 for one person. This is not a fine dining restaurant!!! It is not worth it!!! Beware!!! read more
