The food was good. I've been eating at this place for a while. Now the service this time was very slow. The tables were clean the food was hot but. The portions were way smaller you spend more money and get way less food. The board I received did not come with the stuff I got on my last experience and also it is $30 more. The waitresses were nice, but it was overall a pretty decent experience. I hope they can improve on their prices and quality of the food. read more

I've came to Buddies on a few occasions and they have never disappointed! For one, the bloody Mary's are absolutely Devine! They are spicy yet salty and can get you a mini buzz. This was the first time we came during the lunch menu time frame. We ended up ordering from the dinner menu anyway. We all got a side salad and as always it's so good. I am always asking for extra dressing but theirs seems to always have the perfect amount of dressing. The two men at the table got steaks. Father in law got the King's Filet and bf got the Ribeye. No complaints. I got the crab Mac & cheese and holy moly! So good. We ended the meal with 2 desserts; crème brûlée and the turtle cheesecake crème brûlée, both were absolutely delicious!! I was SO shocked that a place called Buddies Bar and Grill was more fine dining and than literal bar & grill! It was great! The rib eyes were delicious (try the blue cheese topping!) and the creamed spinach was the best I've ever had. The drinks weren't the best , but they weren't bad. The service was top notch! So I took a colleague to a welcome lunch. She chose the place. I went to SELU years ago and boy has Hammond grown! Well this place is in a strip mall not to far from the interstate. I arrived at about 12:15 and they open at 11 so there was no one there in this Monday. I was seated immediately and offered a drink. The menu is amazing there is a lot to choose from. I ordered the bayou potato. It wasn't what I expected. I thought it would be. Baked potato but it seemed like it was boiled red potatoes mashed topped with seafood and sauce. It also came with a piece of seafood bread I didn't like the bread it was too wet/soft for my liking. The potato was ok I couldn't get over not being able to see if it was a potato or not I didn't finish it because it is a LOT My colleague orders a burger and she seemed to enjoy it. The bathroom was ok it was tidy but not clean. I would try it again but idk eat at your own risk I did go for lunch maybe i will try dinner and get something else read more

Buddies to me is a paradoxy. The weird unattended waiting area isn't a good start. But once we glor to the table it got worse because our waitress was totally clueless. Once we solve the problem with my drink, which was only a crown, royal and seven ups Things actually got better. Our salad dressing was absolutely incredible. The crabcakes were very good and deserved a much better presentation. Alas, our poor ribeye died in vain. But at the end of the meal, our chef, Michael, our knight in shining armor came to rescue the night. he had been told about our poor ribeye and replaced it with a filet mignon to go. I wanted to treat a friend to a delicious steak dinner to end my visit to Louisiana and we were suggested Buddies by a local. I called early as I noticed it seemed like a reservation place. Fortunately they had availability and we got to arrive either no wait at 7pm. We both had the queens filet with different salads and sides. I enjoyed the pepper jelly vinaigrette on my house salad. I chose the smoked macaroni and cheese and it was creamy and delicious with a nice cheese crust. The filet, oh my! It was delicious. Perfectly cooked medium rare. Juicy, tender and delicious. We are still talking about the meal two days later! Our drinks were also very delicious. I enjoyed mine my limoncello (sweet and dangerously delicious!) and my friend enjoyed his Tequila Mocking Bird (nice and strong.) Staff was very friendly to us! We felt very welcomed by everyone. Got the short rib special, bone in pork loin, and the filet. Sides were asparagus, smoked Mac and cheese and sweet potato casserole. Fantastic on all fronts. Best pork dish I've ever had at a restaurant. Moist and flavorful. Short rib was smoked and charred with traditional southern grits which made an amazing contrast. I had the red fish and there was so much seasoning on it I could not tell I was eating fish, my husband's ribeye tasted like top sirloin. My red fish came with a few sauteed spinch leaves and a few mushrooms, no salad no bread no anything else and it was $32.00. My husband had the 12 oz ribeye that was $48.00, at least his came with a side and a salad. Plus they charge extra if you want to put your meal on a charge card. Won't be going back. read more

Picked this place for my birthday dinner based on a friend's recommendation and their menu on their website. Inside was really cute and our server was great. We had the crab cake appetizer and the spinach dip. The crab cakes had a fishy taste but otherwise had a lot of crabmeat and not too much breading. The spinach and artichoke dip was overly cheesy so much so that you could not really taste the spinach or artichoke. My boyfriend can be a picky eater and I picked this placed based on the menu items I knew he would order. They had none of those items. Server said the menu hasn't been updated in many years. Very disappointing as i would have chose a different place. He ordered the chicken parmigiana which he said was just ok. I ordered the ribeye med rare with mushroom and onions. We made reservations for a very special occasion tonight. It was my dad's 80th birthday. Our last visit was so good that we wanted to take him there for his very special day. Meanwhile staff and the manager are talking to other tables having a great time. Buddies is a great place. I have a friend with deep roots in the Pumpkin Center/Ponchatoula/Hammond Metropolitan Area. Whenever I find myself there with time to eat, I ask him for advice. This year he recommended I try Buddies and that's what I did. While the name suggests this is more of an adult themed establishment, it was a full service, family friendly restaurant. I was a little reluctant taking my youngest in since bar was in the name, but don't let that stop you. It's open to all. The food is typical American fare with a good selection of steaks. My entree was the strip which came well seasoned and perfectly cooked. I opted to add a wedge salad and grilled bacon wrapped shrimp which was a great idea. Their version of a wedge was slightly different than what I'm used to (big tomatoes), but the blue cheese was excellent. If you're looking for a meal that screams America, this was it. It was also the house special of the day and was only around $15. You really can't beat that. I really enjoyed my visit t Buddies. For Hammond, Buddies is ok! I would suggest the bacon wrapped shrimp entree or the filet mignon with a loaded baked potato. Be sure when you order your steak you tell them do not put the heavy iron on it to help cook it faster because your steak will be burnt on the outside and crispy. My father (81) loves this place. He would give it a 5 Star. He also never left Hammond. **I was not pleased with the wedge salad. The lettuce wedge was set inside facing down on the plate and then topped with the blue cheese crumbles and dressing. This is not how a wedge should be served. The breading on the blooming onion is better then any I've ever had. The steaks are tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned. My favorite side is the smoked mac and cheese. It is so creamy! Another thing is they want to stick you in a place where you feel the most unfortunately like by a bath room!!!
