I had a few disasters before I found my stylist in Atlanta. So, when I moved, I put off trying someone new for as long as possible. I finally put on my big-girl panties and tried The Beauty Bar because it was close to my house and had some good online buzz. I was not disappointed. Melissa heard what I had to say, gave me a delicious shampoo, and the haircut looks super cute 24 hours later. Atmosphere: They seem to be marketing to a younger, dare I say "hipper" crowd. I enjoyed it. I was offered a drink while I was waiting, which was nice. (though I had to decline, as I had to go back to work afterward.) It's a smaller space for a salon, but they do a nice job making it feel sleek and open with windows, light and mirrors. One thing to be aware of: 1. If you are sensitive to smells, this may not be the place for you. They are a full service salon in a pretty small space, so the chemical smells are really intense.

However, she immediately started to invite me to her church. This continued even after I told her I was already affiliated with a church. Her behavior continued and culminated in her literally laying hands on me to "pray for me". She did this when I was reclined and she was washing my hair making it difficult for me to physically stop her. I told her to stop as I didn't share her beliefs. Things started to get worse from this point. She even had her husband come into the salon to tell me I should appreciate that his wife was even doing my hair. This was not the only examples of her unprofessional behavior. I noticed she never let me watch her in the mirror and that a friend recently commented on how my hair was damaged in the back. She was always trying to give me medical advice on the use of vitamin supplements. She would ask me very personal financial questions and then started commenting on political issues. I finally told her I didn't share her opinions and asked her to not discuss politics. Then the final straw was when she asked me if my values caused problems with my children and grandchildren! I was actually shocked that she would ask such a judgemental question!! The implication was clear - I must have no values or morals since I didn't agree with her religion and political views. And mind you I never talked about religion or politics. A beautician should not give out medical advice on the use of vitamin supplements and should NEVER lay their hands on you and start praying for you. This is NEVER ok.
