If you want a turn-me-into-a-puddle type of massage, she'll do it, and do an amazing job. But her real skill is structural integration, where she actually gets in between the fibers of your muscles and attachment points (as in, all 4 heads of your quadriceps muscle) and creates separation so that you feel looser over all, for longer than you would after just a traditional massage. She really wants to help address the root cause of the discomfort, not just trying to get to the discomfort itself. It sounds weird, but she gets into where it hurts, pulls on it, and then it feels better. She's all around an amazing practitioner. I love going because I always feel so much better when I'm finished. I cannot recommend her highly enough. As soon as you walk in the door you are warmly greeted by Mindy, the most compassionate woman who you can tell absolutely loves her job and apparently started as one of Dr. Crooker's patients! Dr. Crooker treats the top athletes in the greater Philadelphia region- runners, cyclists, avid exercisers and everyone in between. During my first visit with the doctor I explained the pain I was experiencing, my exercise regimen and my previous injuries, and he was instantly able to diagnose the problems and started treating them immediately with the Graston method and the Active Release Technique. I had NO idea that these techniques would be able to get me running in just 3 weeks (when I was barely able to walk on my right leg). Each appointment my flexibility was improving and my pain was decreasing and within 6 appointments I was back on my feet. I cannot recommend Dr. Crooker enough- he is the most gentle, understanding, knoweldable, friendly, personable and hardworking chiropractor I have ever met, and am so thankful for my mother for referring me to him. She always seems to know what is wrong before I open my mouth, but she always holds space for me within her loving glow. Emily has an incredible way of making you feel instantly comfortable, even the most advanced of wall builders, like myself. I have broken down into tears before getting on the table, had massive physical releases, and healed in ways I thought weren't possible. She has guided me through deep emotional trauma as well as physical trauma (I had abdominal surgery to remove 15 tumors in 2016). I will say it's not all glitter and romance, there are often hard lessons to be learned and dealt with, and they can be difficult (but always necessary) and she guides you through it with light and love. I could go on and on, but really my words will mean nothing. What Emily offers is intuitive and experiential.
