Since moving to the area in '23, I've tried to get to Summit anytime I'm over in Mt. Holly. At first it was just for the beer and wine selection and the cool vibe. But now they've added a permanent food truck, @halfwaycooks, and I may now have to go once a week! I had the wings with fries and my wife had the fried bologna sandwich, both meals really good and reasonably priced. After years of not going by this place, I decided to give it one more try. Bad mistake. Seems the only music they can pick up in there is still hip-hop. Only middle aged white people were sitting in there and very few of them. So I wonder why the music selection? Regardless I will never go back. So many better options. read more

I love this place, and they keep making updates so it just keeps getting better! I'm not a beer drinker, so I'm usually SOL at a brewery or beer shop, but they have a really good selection of wine (some natural too, which is hard to find!) as well as N/A and cannabis drinks. They also have a few cocktails and boozy slushies on rotation. The staff is literally the friendliest staff of any bar I've ever been to. There's a great patio, and now there's a little place serving KILLER food. They've just expanded with more indoor seating too, so it really is a perfect neighborhood spot to hang out. read more

Great little beer shop. I want to clarify this is NOT a brewery, but they serve over 20 different beers and ciders on draft from all over NC and other states. I had a flight of 2 sours, 2 ciders and a maple/pumpkin beer. All delicious! Staff was friendly. My only recommendation is they add written menus, as the computer screens frequently changed and it took forever to try and read the descriptions! read more

The decor is perfect, preserving the original brick of the historic building while adding their own design everywhere else. The bartenders are all really nice and make insanely intuitive recommendations based on your preference of beer. Their beer selection is impeccable with a consistent rotating tap. Great place! Tons of beer on tap that you wouldn't find anywhere else, super friendly staff. They have beer flights! The bad patio area is great, and sometimes they put out fire pits. You can also grab a beer from their little shop area to crack open at their bar for no extra charge or take with you! Prosecco on tap, who can beat that?! We just moved here and have already become regulars and this amazing little spot. They do not serve food but you can order from next door and they will bring it right over to you for free. read more

Just what Mount Holly needed! Beer selection on tap is interesting and always changing, like day to day. They are also updating the bottle and can selections on a weekly basis. I enjoy coming down for date nights with my husband and to hang out with friends on the weekend. I use to love this place and still do but their quality of beer has gone down hill. I don't know if they buy bad beer or just don't handle it properly but every time myself or my friends have pulled from the fridge the beer has a bad taste. Man, I really want to like this place. I moved to the area 2 years ago from a place that had an awesome craft beer scene. NC's prowess in this area is well known, so I expected to find a more vibrant craft beer scene in Gaston county. This place fills a need in that category. If only it were good. Let me elaborate. Selection: sometimes is good, most of the time it isn't. Lots of options doesn't always mean quality options. They often have very average beers on tap and half of the taps are usually IPA's or similar. (Which I like, but gimme some variety!) The beer "curating" needs some work. Belgian ales (any of them!), more stouts, more wilds, get some fun stuff in here! Also, get some beer from places other than NC and CA! The beer list is usually 90% NC. We have good beer in this state but give me something that's not accessible at every grocery store and gas station... Prices: definitely on the high side. (More on that below). Draft beer is easily 20% more across the board compared to the NE, Dallas, LA, and other markets I've been to. Also, how the heck do they justify charging $14 for a 4-pack of Two Hearted ale when Food Lion charges $9? Bottle and can prices are insane here. Service and expertise: Most of the bartenders don't know anything about beer and by their own admission either don't drink beer or drink cheap stuff on their own time and dime. If they don't know how to pronounce words like Saison and Gosé, how can I trust any opinions about what's good or what I'm in the mood for? And for that matter, in the 6 or so times that I've been here I've never been asked what I'd like to try. Just "hey, what's up, how ya doin'?" And then tonight was just awful; I asked for a small (flight sized) pour of a certain high priced beer. I don't mind paying a higher per-oz price to give me the chance of trying more beer on my limited sobriety and $. Anyways, she poured the full 13oz/$11 beer and I nicely mentioned that it looked like a pretty large small... She explained that this beer was not available as a small, but she definitely heard me ask for a small pour of this beer (Firestone Walker Bretta Tangerine). I asked her about flights and she said that some beers weren't available as flights. This is literally not listed ANYWHERE in this place. This would have been awesome information to have before she poured. No apology of any kind or offer to make it right in any way. Just arguments as to why she couldn't pour the small beer. Awesome customer service... Also, I've been in here 6 or so times and have never had any manager or owner say hi and thank me for coming in. I know who they are and have seen them in here a few times. They generally just look at their phone or talk to the bartenders about how the night is going. They don't engage the clientele at all, unless they are already friends with them. This area could use a lot of improvement. Get out and talk to your customers! Ask them what they think! This might prevent some negative reviews like this one... Anyways, it's too bad that this place is a swing and a miss. It's sooo close to being great. Maybe Jack Beagles will give them some friendly competition and make them up their game. We'll see. read more

Best beer selection around!! Cool place. Whoever is choosing the beer is on point!! Always a great variety with several of my favorites... NE IPAs. Only reason I did not give 5 stars is bc the food availability. There's an option to order from a restaurant next door and they will deliver it to you. However, the three times I've ordered, I was not impressed. Maybe they'll get some food trucks soon?? In the meantime, it's definitely worth going for the beer alone! read more
