My husband and I absolutely love Salud Beer Shop, and our Halloween night visit was another great one! We hadn't been in a few weeks, so we threw on some costumes and made a fun evening out of it. It was great seeing other customers dressed up too. Everyone was in great spirits, and the vibe was super laid-back and welcoming. Salud is the first level of a two-story brewery in the heart of NoDa. It's casual and relaxed, with a great selection of beers on draft, craft cocktails, and a seriously impressive wall of bottled and canned beers, wine, vermouth, and N/A drinks to-go. Total neighborhood gem. Since it was chilly out, we grabbed a table inside, which felt warm and inviting. We each ordered a craft beer and split the Lex Diamond sandwich, which came stacked on house-made focaccia with capicola, salami, pepperoni, fresh mozzarella, garlic aioli, red onion, tomato, lettuce, pepperoncini, and pickles. It tasted fresh, homemade, and packed with flavor. It also came with an elote salad and lime wedge on the side (a bright refreshing touch). We also split the buffalo wings with ranch and blue cheese, and they were perfectly cooked with a crispy outside and juicy inside. Both dishes were absolutely delicious and will be repeats for us. Prices were very fair for dinner, and Salud even offers a discounted lunch menu that's well worth checking out too. We're regulars here for a reason. Great beer, great food, and always a good time. If I had one tiny critique, it would be that the meatball could've been a bit more generous. One small sliver per slice left me wanting more of that meaty goodness. The red sauce was on point--sweet, just the way I like it. The mozzarella was plentiful, maybe even a bit too plentiful, as it turned the crust a bit greasy and soggy. And while the hot honey was a nice touch, I wish there had been more of it to really amp up the flavor. The crust itself was on the softer side, so if you're a fan of a crispier bite, I'd recommend asking them to cook it a bit longer. All in all, Salud Beer Shop is definitely a spot I'd return to, especially with a friend to share a pie and some wings. Admittedly, I always order delivery from them even though I live in the neighborhood, so I can't speak to the current in-house service or the ambiance. But as for the food, it is my lazy night pizza go-to, and it never disappoints. My favorite is the El Gordo with pepperoni. It is the quintessential meat-lovers pizza taken to the next level with hot honey and whipped ricotta. I usually eat half and then save the rest for lunch the next day. It heats up nicely in the microwave or the oven. In true Salud fashion, there are still many vegan options, making this an excellent place to come if you have a friend group with varying dietary needs or for a meatless Monday. Salud Beer Shop is an award winning bottle shop and beer bar located in the NoDa neighborhood. NoDa is known as a former industrial district containing mostly textile mills, that saw rebirth as an arts district and a popular hang out for creatives. Salud captures the alternative style of NoDa very well. It has a heady atmosphere, the walls adorned with everything from soccer flags, to vintage sports and concert posters, to random knick knacks. The store is lined with many different often hard to find beers and other alcoholic beverages. You can choose to buy a bottle and enjoy it in the store, take it to go, or if you prefer to try something on tap they have a small bar area as well. Upstairs you'll find their sister concept Salud Cerveceria which I have reviewed as well. Beer isn't the only thing these two locations have though as they have some sneaky good food. Most popular are their pizzas which are generally served as personal pies, but they also have some really good sandwiches made on house focaccia including a killer spin on the meatball sub they call the Players Ball. The service here isn't hurried or fast. Most of the time the bartender is chatting with locals and regulars so don't come in here trying to rush them. This is a laid back place, great to grab some drinks with friends. If the weather is nice out the best place to be is their side patio which lies directly across from the Mercury NoDa apartments. Salud isn't a regular spot for me, but it deserves acknowledgement as a neighborhood staple, and an overall cool place to be. read more

Honestly, I just came here to pass the time while we waited for another bar to open up down the street. When I arrived with my friends it was VERY quiet and we kind of felt awkward when we arrived just because of how quiet it was. There was no music at all. They have a big open floor plan with plenty of seat options to choose from. From regular dining, it is tabled to a more lounge couch, sofa style. Their decorations were chic and modern, and they also had merchandise if you wanted to buy something. The only thing off about the place was that they didn't have music playing at all and it wasn't until about an Hr later when we realized they turned the music on so the vibe instantly changed after. We didn't stay too long. Just ordered a glass of wine, and that's it. I definitely would come back, though again. It seems like a cool spot to chill at if you don't feel like walking far. read more

Now, in 2024, I've been back and the vibe is sooooo off from what it used to be and the service matches it. I went with my pup, Leila, to grab a drink and chill before heading home, but the service was very unkind and the drink was not great. Look, I get that Salud is more of a beer place, but don't bother even offering sparkling wine if you're not going to offer something halfway decent. Their sparkling wine by the glass is not good at all, and I flipping love sparkling wine. Theirs hurt my stomach and just didn't taste good at all - not palatable. And when I said this to the person serving me, in the kindest way possible, he just rolled his eyes and dismissed it and said "no one else had a problem with it". I'm just so disappointed in this place because I used to love coming here in 2018, but fast forward a few years and this place is abysmal. Just walk a few blocks over for a better place. read more

Went to salad beer shop on Friday and was blown away. It has a true hole in the wall kind of ambiance, with a bar and maybe 4 tables worth of seating giving it a very close and warm vibe. The bartender was also very friendly and also acted as a waiter who was simultaneously pouring drinks, greeting customers, and grabbing pizzas. Additionally to the cool vibe, I thought the food was very good! The pizza was crispy and had some great flavors! The cheese, meat, and sauce were all superb and will definitely get another pie soon. This place has a very cool hipster vibe. It could be a bit confusing but their indoor seating area or "tap room" can be found through the door next to the main beer shop and you have to go upstairs. They do have some outdoor seating options as well. This place is in the heart of NODA with a bunch of other restaurants and bars around. They have a good amount of beer on tap as well as wine but no cocktails. Wednesdays they have a special for their wine tasting and they have a good variety of wine. I got a flight of 6 beers and I enjoyed most of them. One of the beers tasted exactly like a PB&J sandwich which I totally recommend as well as the Mexican Hot Chocolate stout. The Banana stout was really good too. We ordered food here as well. The wings were good, nothing extravagant but good wings. The clones sandwich was really yum and it came with brussels sprouts that were surprisingly delicious! read more

We had heard all kinds of hype about Salud and from more than one person. "Best beer store in America", "When you visit Charlotte, you've absolutely got to go to Salud if you like craft beer", blah blah. Anyhow, we walk in, I see a dude working and immediately ask him if they have any beers from Vermont. Nope. I did a double take...what? None? How can you be one of the best beer stores in the USA and not have one single beer from VT? Craft beer is monstrous in Vermont and some of the best beers in America are brewed there. We looked all around, checked out the tap list and yes, you can get draft beers here and yes they have some stuff on tap here you'll likely not find elsewhere locally, but they don't have like 150 taps...they have like 10. And the prices on their draft beers...meh...let's just say it ain't a bargain. It was way smaller than I thought and honestly, I said to my better half...I think I can get a better selection of beers from Total Wine. Salud is a small location for sure. Finding parking nearby can also be an issue as it's basically just street parking and gets crowded quickly here. read more

Came here because the photos of the pizzas on Yelp look mighty delicious. I ordered the Claimin True for pick up. When I received the pizza, I was a little disappointed with the crust - it was pale and largely missing the charring like the ones I saw in the photos. Luckily, The texture was perfect - soft and chewy. Overall, the pizza is solid with great flavor. It's in the top 10% of pizzas I've had (and I love pizza!!). The flavor of each ingredient stands out, yet blend well together. Love the flavor of the mozzarella and prosciutto....definitely taste like high quality ingredients. I only wish the prosciutto was shaved a little thinner. Whie I appreciate the generous portion of procuittos, the thick cut makes it hard and overly chewy. I was in a lunch rush and didn't have time to sit down for a drink. Salud is a very cool beer/wine shop, and items are not overpriced - truly sold at retail value. They have a fantastic selection of boutique wines and small-batch brews. I spent an hour just looking at the shelves. The only thing that could be better is their organization / inventory. Their online inventory was not accurate to what they actually had in the store, so we were not able to get all the items that we wanted. However, we were easily able to find suitable replacements, due to the expansive selection. Some items were also placed in the wrong spot, so the employee told me they were out of something, but then I found it on another shelf. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about products and able to make good recommendations. This will be the FIRST place I look for unique wines and beers in Charlotte. read more

The top level offers coffee and baked goods as well as beer and wine and the food menu. The food is spectacular! The pizza is wood fired thin crust and you can tell that they use the best pepperoni. The wings and the pepperoni rolls are the stars of the show for me! You can sit outside, downstairs, or upstairs, all of which have their own unique atmosphere!
