One of the staff in our resort recommended for us to try this place for brunch one morning and we went for it. It was just an easy walk from our resort in Astoria Station 1 through the beach to this place. Actually it was quite a nice walk there. When we arrived we were greeted with a nice smile by one of the staff and was offfered immediately a table with an amazing view of the beach. The restaurant is busy but it is clean and organized with a chill vibe. Our server offered us the menu which had so many interesting items to choose from and we elected for a few lattes and different types of entrees. We didn't wait long to be served our meals and they were all Made fresh and presented nicely. We were hungry so we didn't wait to dig in. We came to The Sunny Side Cafe thinking that they would have some innovative foods based on what we read off Reddit. I wouldn't say that their food wasn't new and interesting, but the execution and fulfillment of my expectations/imagination were issuing. We tried the bacon and mango grilled cheese which was highly recommended by most Redditors and noted on the restaurants menu. They use a bread similar to brioche and it was fluffy and a good option. The lack of excitement in the food itself came from the missing "wow" in the taste. The homemade mango jam was really subtle. The tomato sauce/paste/soup that was provided in the side bowl did not tie the meal together. I'm not sure how to describe it, but I wouldn't consider it soup since it was thick and the tomato flavour really overpowered the taste of everything else on the plate. The shrimp roll was ok - it wasn't bad but it's also not something to write home about. They offered calamansi juice without sugar which was refreshing after a long day in the sun. The staff were kind and they were prompt with our orders. The restaurant caters to a lot of tourists, which is possibly due to its location. i visited this location twice because there were many things on the menu i wanted to try! If only i had the time to go a third time on my trip! Tiramisu cold brew was good only i wish i had a little more cream to make the drink sweeter because i personally didn't think it to be sweet. Dalandan cold brew was interesting. Almost tasted like juice. Ube pancakes and the espresso caramel pancakes were good! I like that there was a half order option. The corned beef skillet was good but just wished there was more meat and potatoes because it was a lot of cheese lol. My brother really liked the burger! Out of all the dishes though, I liked the tapsilog the best, can never go wrong with that! The servers sweet but it's a small cafe and it gets a little busy later in the morning. Ube was the jam (puns ) in 2022-23! I've had my share of OG ube and all the latest trendy takes on ube, particularly pancakes.. and of course.. traveling all the way to the Philippines.. Sunny Side takes the (pan)cake on having the most amazing ube pancakes I have had in my entire Filipino life. My cousin picked this place because we shared that we wanted to eat ube pancakes. Little did I know there were 2 locations. Ended up walking about 20 min from d Mall to get here (and of course it was the wrong location as my family was at the Station 1 location) but it was okay. We arrived around 8 am which was still early enough to get a table for 5 right away. I did not realize how busy or much of a talk of the country this breakfast spot was until I saw all the cool quotes and recognition on the walls and also saw the wait forming outside. Their menu is filled with so many delicious takes on traditional Filipino breakfast fused with other flavors to enhance. Their pancakes are Japanese style. Both the original and the ube were AMAZING! I highly recommend splitting an order. It also tastes great the next day reheated (ask your hotel to microwave it). I also enjoyed their takes on lattes and coffee. I opted for their chorizo dish with rice and egg. It was filling and very tasty. Service is very good and attentive. The place is small so get here early. Y'all def led me down the right path this time around here in Boracay As much as I love the typical Filipino breakfast of garlic rice and longanisa/tocino, I was craving something different for once. Every single grilled cheese sandwich?? WONUTS (waffle donuts)... UBE PANCAKES... heck ALL the pancakes.... pork belly sammich. I'll stay a whole week in boracay just to try all of this. This is getting long so I'll cut to the chase. They say the bacon mango jam grilled cheese sandwich is their best seller. GET THIS. I always argue with myself when it comes to what's more important in a grilled cheese sandwich, the cheese or the bread. The clear answer here is the bread. The thick slices have the perfect crunch. And the bacon slathered with mango jam go perfectly together. Pancakes - they come in two per order so you can mix and match. The number one photo that sent me to this restaurant was the Ube pancake so you're dang right if you think we ordered it. Also got the mango pancake. The table was split between which one was better, but everyone did like both. The pancakes are dense yet fluffy. I loved the Ube. Only gripe is that I wanted more Ube to go with the pancake. Mango had a lighter flavor. You can definitely share this with a table of 4 as an appetizer. Or dessert. Next time I'd like to try their wonuts. And maybe the dark chocolate grilled cheese sandwich. Thinking of this adorable spot that Many of our friends recommended. My husband and I came here on our first day in Boracay. I order the Tapsilog, portions were big. We saw someone get the Ube pancakes, slight regret because legit IG worthy, and from seeing the reactions others had, definitely tasty as well. It was pouring out so we stayed for dessert. 4.5 stars. My wife and I wanted something different for brunch during our stay in Boracay and we found The Sunny Side Cafe via Yelp. Woo hoo, international service! Offering delicious, modern takes on breakfast and brunch classics, The Sunny Side Cafe is a nice change of pace from most of the busy restaurants in this part of Boracay. The space is super clean and the wi-fi is free and fast. For brunch I ordered the bacon and mango grilled cheese, which was superb. The salty, savory bacon contrasted nicely with the sweet mango jam and the freshly baked brioche bread, which was grilled to perfection. Unfortunately, the tomato soup was plain and the salad was barely that: just a few pieces of lettuce and tomato with a non-descript dressing. It was so bad I'm knocking off half a star; next time I'll request the sandwich all by itself. For dessert we shared The Sunny Side champorado, a heavenly concoction of chocolate champorado (rice porridge), house made bacon brittle, mango, and a scoop of caramel ice cream. Amazing! Service was excellent throughout our meal and it was a nice spot to relax the day after doing touristy stuff. Yelp, Island Tropical Paradise Edition 2017! For one of my last reviews of this danged year in which Mecha-Michael Mcdonald did not become supreme ruler of the allied sub-nations, I present to you, this: a Philippines review! One of the main things that I looooOOOOOooove to do when I travel is find all the dopest food spots at my destination. I would say that Yelping places is always a valid option, though in some countries it is not. However, that's isn't the case in the PI. Yelp seems to have a pretty decent presence out there. HOWEVER, finding this place was not a Yelp-assisted joint. Going here was thanks to my friend who had been here before. STILL, it was so good that I NEED to Yelp it. In Boracay, there are tons of places to eat. Some are really good. Others are a complete tourist trap. Navigating what's what can be tough, but it's always good to have a friend in the know. I have such a friend and he's been raving about this place for the past 2 years. Being in Boracay, I HAD to try this place out. First off, eating here is one of the coolest experiences as you have an excellent view of the beach, especially if you eat outside. I ate outside all the times I went here. Yes, went here more than once. It was right outside of the place we stayed at. What are the chances? Anyhoo, scenic dining aside, we were quickly greeted by a friendly waitress and got our seats quickly as well. The menu is not the biggest out there, but it doesn't have to be. Each of their items is a speciality/treat. Here's a list of things I've had here (in no particular order): - Sunny Side Burger - The beef tapa plate - The chicken adobo plate - Ube pancake with ube cream, cereal bits, and cereal milk ice cream - Chocolate pancake with local artisan chocolate - Various shakes, smoothies, and juices - Champorado with mango, candied bacon, and chocolate ice cream - Wonuts - Butternut squash soup - The bread basket - Grilled cheese with bacon and mango jam The food here is absolutely EXCELLENT. All of the ingredients are locally sourced. The kitayama beef used in the tapa plate is tender, juicy, and top-notch. They make their own ice cream (they run 4 other different restos on the island!) The pancakes are the most fluffiest, most out of the world pancakes I have ever had, and I'm a waffle guy! Speaking of which, the wonuts (waffle donuts) are crispy and just out of this world. The shakes, smoothies, and juices are all made with fresh fruit and are just off the chain good. The garlic confit fried rice served with their plates is so savory with a hint of sweetness. Everything everything EVERYTHING here is good. I cannot praise this place enough. Top-notch food, great prices, and a wonderful staff. Get yourself some airfare to the Philippines and fly out here now. I don't care if you don't swim at the beach or have lobster or whatever. If you eat here, it will be more than worth your while, I promise you that. This is my top spot of 2017, hands down. read more

My husband and I came to The Sunny Side Cafe when we were visiting Boracay. It was highly rated on Yelp and so we decided to walk from Station 2 (about a 10-15 minutes walk) to savor some delicious breakfast. This was by far the best breakfast in Boracay. They have a variety of pancakes, unique ones too like ube and red velvet. We ordered two pancakes (half size- 1 big pancake, good for one person)- mango and red velvet. My husband and I ate about half and we were full, but satisfied! If we ever visit Boracay again, we would definitely come here again. There are few places in Boracay, Philippines that remind me of the US and I'm totally fine with that! Having said that, my family and I were definitely craving an edible piece of America after 2+ weeks in the Philippines and Sunny Side hit the spot. The Birthday Cake pancake was freaking enormous, delicious and sent my blood sugar through the roof. The Chorizo burger (on pan de sal), the chorizo baked mac n cheese and the shrimp roll sandwich were all SOO delicious and wonderfully reminiscent of food we eat in California. The menu is full of American comfort dishes which are elevated with awesome ingredients and beautiful presentation. The views from this place are spectacular and the decor is adorable. Definitely a piece of Cali in Boracay and I could not recommend this place any more! Absolutely worth the money and the (very likely) wait to be seated. This is a yummy breakfast restaurant between station 2 and 3! It is a little more modern here with a menu offering asian fusion/twists on traditional Filipino dishes. There's also simple options such as salad, avocado toast, yogurt, fruits, etc if you're looking for a more mindful/lighter options. There are a few tables outside with a great view of the beach, but my boyfriend and I opted for seats inside to enjoy a little of the AC. We were sold right away on the Adobo Bowl dish and the angus beef tapa plate. We also did a half order of the ube and milk and cereal pancake, so deliciously good! Both of our meals turned out to be tasty and filling. The meat in both our dishes were well marinated and of course, the egg topped it off to make a "silog," proper Filipino breakfast plate. The ube pancake was so rich, creamy and fluffy! It was a great side of something sweet and even though we got a half order, the one pancake was still a huge serving we barely put a dent in it! Service was a little slow, but everyone was super friendly and accommodating. Their mimosas were great as well! This was a great find in Boracay... We had breakfast here twice and both times the food was awesome, not a disappointing dish in the house from our experience! I loved their menu, very creative I wish I had a few more days to try a couple of more dishes. Their foie gras toast was great, the flavor of the foie gras really shined through for me and I heart foie gras so what can I say except I was in heaven, the edible flowers and pumpkin seeds were a nice touch and the jam (asked for it on the side) was a welcome addition to the toast in small moderation. Their drinks are also a nice treat, the sesame milk was a warm treat to add to your breakfast. The 'it's not you its me' was also delicious with the muddled basil. The poached eggs and bacon was on point, the bacon which was thick cut added some good protein to get the day of activities going. Overall service was just above average, as with the norm here in the Philippines servers stay out of your hair until called on...
