I went into the store and asked for their vanilla and rum cake. The girl with the glasses pointed me to one of the two cakes in their case. I said I'll take it; she subsequently packed it. I took it home for my mother's birthday to find out it was a guava and cheese filled cake. That's unfortunate, but the wrong cake is NOT the point of this negative review. I asked to speak with the owner to let them know how disappointed I was. I like to think I am understanding of situations like this as a past employee in the food industry. But there is something I cannot accept: disrespect. The manager called me today to tell me that the girl told ME it had guava and cheese. The standard of customer care shouldn't always be that the "customer is always right", UNLESS the customer is right... I know for a fact that the girl told me it was a rum and vanilla cake BECAUSE I ASKED FOR THAT ONLY. There was zero mention of guava and cheese. For the manager to call me and tell me I'm wrong is incredibly rude! To offer a $5 discount on another cake is incredibly illogical! To disrespect a client in making them feel they are lying without evidence is outrageous. As a business owner, in handling situations like this, the first thing you do is apologize for the circumstances, not by assuming fault, but as a mediator of positive resolution BECAUSE IT'S YOUR BUSINESS TO CARE. Then, offer whatever you think is fair given the circumstances BECAUSE YOUR REPUTATION IS ON THE LINE. We should require more responsibility from businesses that sell irreversible items like cakes. Keep your $5, double it, and give it to the next person.

I guess crossing my fingers worked because Jessica was down to do my order! I wanted to avoid having your typical X-rated bachelorette cake so instead I requested to have a simple cake with an edible image of Zach Morris and AC Slater on it. Jessica had some really fun ideas for this cake, such as adding 80's inspired decorations, which got me even more excited about this cake. When she delivered it, the cake definitely exceeded my expectations. She did an awesome job on capturing a look from the opening credits of SBTB. All of the girls were in love with it, and the bachelorette's face lit up when we surprised her with the cake. It seriously took us half an hour of admiration and picture taking before it was time to cut the cake. That proved to be a little difficult since the bachelorette said it was too cute to cut apart. The flavors of the cake I chose were 4 layers of red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting between the layers. Covering the cake was a vanilla butter cream frosting with fondant as the top layer. Let me tell you, this had to be one of the best red velvet cakes I've had so far! The cake was also moist and the cream cheese frosting was not too sweet either. Over the duration of our stay, all 10 of us managed to finish this cake, which was good to feed roughly 16-18 people. Overall, Jessica definitely did a wonderful job on not only decorating the cake but managed to deliver a delicious and reasonably priced cake. I asked to speak to the manager and was told she was not available. I then called the Wynwood location multiple times before someone finally answered. I asked to speak to a manager and was told she was busy but would call me back. She never did. When I called again, I was told the Wynwood and Sunset locations were separate, but that the manager would reach out to the Sunset manager and have her call me. Again, no one followed up. On Sunday, I called again and was told the kitchen was closed and that my only options were still to pick up the cake or leave it and receive 50% back--even though the cake was never corrected. The manager refused to speak with me directly. I ultimately picked up the cake, and not only was the color still wrong, but the cake itself was terrible in flavor. It was honestly one of the worst cakes I've ever had. The biggest disappointment, however, was the consistently poor customer service--from both the managers and the staff. As a small business, they need to do better. All that was needed was a sincere apology and a reasonable solution, such as a small discount for the inconvenience since their kitchen was closed.
