I don't like bad reviews because I believe that they do not truly represent the values of a business. Yet, here I am wasting my time to write one for a business after being sold a wrong cake because the owner does not have the heart to respectfully manage at least decent customer service. I went into the store and asked for their vanilla and rum cake. The girl with the glasses pointed me to one of the two cakes in their case. I said I'll take it; she subsequently packed it. I took it home for my mother's birthday to find out it was a guava and cheese filled cake. That's unfortunate, but the wrong cake is NOT the point of this negative review. I asked to speak with the owner to let them know how disappointed I was. I like to think I am understanding of situations like this as a past employee in the food industry. But there is something I cannot accept: disrespect. The manager called me today to tell me that the girl told ME it had guava and cheese. The standard of customer care shouldn't always be that the "customer is always right", UNLESS the customer is right... I know for a fact that the girl told me it was a rum and vanilla cake BECAUSE I ASKED FOR THAT ONLY. There was zero mention of guava and cheese. For the manager to call me and tell me I'm wrong is incredibly rude! To offer a $5 discount on another cake is incredibly illogical! To disrespect a client in making them feel they are lying without evidence is outrageous. As a business owner, in handling situations like this, the first thing you do is apologize for the circumstances, not by assuming fault, but as a mediator of positive resolution BECAUSE IT'S YOUR BUSINESS TO CARE. Then, offer whatever you think is fair given the circumstances BECAUSE YOUR REPUTATION IS ON THE LINE. We should require more responsibility from businesses that sell irreversible items like cakes. Keep your $5, double it, and give it to the next person. read more

I never leave any bad reviews but.... 1. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. 2. Put the apostrophe on my cake topper sign in the incorrect spot although I told them beforehand exactly how I wanted it and they even wrote it down on the paper how I wanted it. When I got there they gave me attitude and said "we did it how we wanted to because none of us speak English here and didn't know"... um okay? I told you exactly how to do it and you chose to ignore your paying customer. 3. Gave me attitude about wanting to fix the sign. Then again more attitude when their fix was to cut off the apostrophe and paste it in the correct please. They went ahead and did it even though I told them not to and ruined the sign. 4. I asked them to put more fondant to cover some holes where the decoration was inserted into the cake (simple fix I thought) no, they proceeded to give me a lesson on why it couldn't be done... although I'm the paying customer. And was also told "the cake is meant to be seen from the front, you can't see the holes from the front". No mam this isn't a Christmas tree where you only decorate the front. I paid $200 for a cake to be seen from all angles. 5. I told her repeatedly that I didn't want to argue, just wanted to pay for the cake and leave. For the 3rd consecutive time, I have been turned away for having the simple request of a cake with no rum. Unfortunately when you go into a cake shop on a Wednesday with a special request for a Saturday and it is not possible because all cakes have already been cooked it is concerning. Clearly the cakes being given to customers are not as fresh as expected for special order cakes. All I was asking for was a 10 person cake with no rum. The decor is the basic Easter decor the have to choose from. They try to push and rudely sell what is already done rather than please the customer. I was further worried by the fact that when I called no one who works there speaks English so I was nervous they would get what I wanted written on the cake wrong. They managed to provide me with exactly what I wanted in under 3 hours. I needed a small gender reveal cake and they came through with a really cute cake. I got the chocolate flavor and I was pleasantly surprised by the actual cake taste as it was very good and moist but not too moist as I do not like those wet cakes a la Edda's cakes. The writing on the cake was perfect too and my family loved the adorable cake! The price of $16 was also very reasonable considering it was a last minute request and another bakery quoted me $40. They called me for minor changes in design they suggested and they were 100% right. Those small tweaks made the cakes that much better. Both cakes were beautiful AND delicious!!! Driving home from Eda Cakes my wife and I came across the Gem on Miller. I am so glad we decided to stop. We wanted a cake for our baby shower and being our first my wife and I wanted nothing less than the best. At Simply Cakes we got perfection! After a sample of their Vanilla Rum cake we knew on the spot this was the flavor we wanted. The cake was so moist and soft just like a cake should be. The frosting is what blew me away and please note I hate frosting. Anyways, the cake was phenomenal and the customer service was great. The pricing for the cake was fair and comparable to other decent bakeries throughout Miami. The only reason I give them a 4 star instead of 5 is because I think their pricing on cookies, cupcakes, and cake pops are bit too expensive. I just left this shop and I'm still in disbelief. I ordered a custom cake for my daughter's birthday a week ago, set a time for pick up, and paid IN FULL. I arrived today to pick up the cake only to be told that they didn't make the cake! WHAT!!! There's no real explanation as to why it wasn't made. It was simply an oversight! She proceeded to offer me a refund and said she had some leftover cake that she could try and cover for me and I could pick it up later. There would be no personalization on this cake because there simply isn't enough time. Her main concern was that I not get upset, and proceeded to tell me that this was simply human error. I'm sorry, but she needed to make her mistake right. My daughter's party is tomorrow, but they don't open Sundays which is why I was picking up a day early. a friend with a very reliable sweet tooth first told me about this place like 6 months ago. so when planning this bridal shower it immediately came to mind... i went in to simply cakes with the invitation and an idea. the lady that helped me was super nice and helpful giving her own input while being super honest and trying to come up with a concept that could work. after hearing the huge price tag for the cake (over 200) i was a bit turned off. this cake was only for 25 people but i did have a complex idea. so i shopped around and visited many well known cake shops in miami. most were either way too expensive or uninterested in doing such a small cake (for 25 ppl) went back to simply cakes and decided on cupcakes with fondant lingerie pieces on each individual cupcake. there were a bunch of flavors to choose from, most notable - tiramisu, dulce leche, nutella, guava, strawberry, etc. as well as the usual suspects, vanilla, oreo, chocolate, red velvet, etc. they were reasonably priced at $3 each for the large size. when we saw them we were soooo happy and amazed at the detail. they outdid themselves. literally each cupcakes was topped with its own unique personalized bra and panty or corset. polka dot, stripes, solids, floral, animal print, pink, black, white, purple, green. omg they were adorable and all lthe ladies loved the flavor and the look!! some girls even took home the fondant lingerie to make other crafty projects with them!! i really cant say enough great things about simply cakes!! i was truly impressed with their beautiful and tasty cupcakes. read more

I placed an order and on pick up day I wanted one of my friends to pick up the cake so the lady proceeds to tell me that I can't pay over the phone and if I want to take my order with me home, I will need to pay cash! The prices have always ranged from 65 - 80 . It is for 10 people but honestly this always serves 12 for us. The flavor is amazing. The fondant design was beautiful but wrong colors and taste was ok but felt too moist and sticky. 2nd time ordered a custom 2 tiered cake to give them a second chance after all the work was great so I just made sure to tell them not to mess up colors! Picked up and it was amazing fondant work and design exactly what I asked for. HOWEVER, the cake itself was like a thick fruitcake!! Sticky, packed and not at all a fluffy cake. Many guest slices were only half eaten even I didn't finish my slice and the leftover we just left it at the location. Even though we got great photos and people wowed over it, the cake itself was just horrible. The price for me was good compared to other quotes and the design amazing but when your paying so much for a cake you also want great taste and this place just didn't cut it. read more
