A very good taco place in New Westminster, by Sapperton area. It was busy when we got there around 530pm. Tacos come in 3s and for meat options, you have: Carne Asada - flank steak Pollo Asado - grilled xhicken Pastor - pork marinated with onion and pineapple Carnitas - pulled pork Barbacoa - lamb Pollo Pibil - slow roasted Chicken Chorizo - Mexican Saussage Pescado - Deep Fried Basa Fish (Extra $.50) Veggie Mix - Cactus, Corn, Onion, Zucchini, Tomato We got 2 orders on tacos and had steak, pork, pulled pork, lamb and chorizo. A friend and I were craving tacos but didn't want to travel too far from my place so we decided to try out Taco Factory in New Westminster. We ordered the pico de Gallo with tortilla chips ($10), my friend ordered the taco combo (3 tacos), and I ordered the lamb burrito. The pico de Gallo was decent but was a bit pricy for $10 - there was a lot more pico de Gallo than chips. Both the taco order and burrito dish came with a nice surprise - a side of fries and a mole sauce. The fries were crunchy, fresh, and delicious. The mole is made from a Mexican pepper that has a nice smokey flavour and kick - both my friend and I loved the sauce! The lamb burrito was really tasty and the smokey delicious mole sauce went wonderfully with it. Along with the crispy fries, I was a happy camper. My friend was also happy with his 3 tacos (1 each of the fried basa fish, Al pastor, and Pollo) and agreed that he would return here. We ordered the "Fish Taco Special", the "Pescado Burrito", a side of fries, and a mandarin Jaritos. Fish Tacos - 8/10 - the fish was fried in a delicious batter, with pickled onion, cilantro, and a lime/Chipotle mayo sauce. Easily one of the better fish Tacos I've had! Pescado Burrito - 7/10 - a very good burrito, but a bit heavy on onion flavour. Regardless, it was very well balanced between sour, spicy, salty, and umami. A very tasty burrito! Fries - 9/10 - normally I would rate a side of fries, but these were exceptionally good! The fries had a really nice texture on the outside, were nice and crisp, and had a phenomenal spiced mayo dipping sauce. The food was so good, we ordered churros to go! First impression: Big open restaurant, friendly cashier, seems like real deal :D I was so excited for new west to have a new Mexican restaurant. Entering restaurant after work it was surprisingly empty. Just another couple finishing up their meal and employees eating. Either that or family of employees so we ordered to go, didn't want to intrude. FAMISHED WE ORDERED EVERY-SINGLE TACO ON MENU. We went to a nearby park to devour.... Carne Asada (flank steak) was so dry, Sahara dry. Pollo Pibil was like the Safeway/SaveOnFoods bbq pre cooked chicken boring and bland. The Chorizo was ok, nothing worth eating again just simple uncomplicated but not flavourful at all. I'm an especially big fan of chorizo, so epically bummed about that one. The carnitas was hands down the worst taco I ever had. I didn't know a taco could taste that level of bad. I thought I knew what a bad taco was, but it has been redefined. I didn't finish my bite and consider it akin to what I imagine bad dog food tastes like. I feel really bad writing this, guilty even, but honestly does the cook not taste his/her food? Tuesdays are meant for tacos! Well, pretty much any day is meant for tacos. The Taco Factory is a newish spot in New Westminster where you can grab some aforementioned tacos (in addition to other Mexican fare such as tortas, burritos, and tostadas). I visited in mid-July when I ordered their 3 Tacos ($11) which comes with crispy taters and your choice of tacos (I picked the Carnitas, Barbacoa, and Chorizo). The tacos are served on double 4-inch tortillas and garnished with white onions and cilantro. The pulled pork was super juicy and was definitely the best of the bunch (whereas the chorizo was a bit dry). But let me just say that the taters/potato nuggets on my first visit were amazingly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside (unfortunately, they were never quite the same on any of my next visits). A couple of weeks later, I came back to try their Carnitas Burrito ($10) and paired it with a Pineapple Jarritos. I stuck with the pulled pork because I liked it in their taco - the filling also includes Mexican rice, black beans, lettuce, slice jalepeno, rachera sauce, sour cream avocado, and mayo. Sure enough, it was just as good in the burrito as it was in the taco. However, I did find that the burrito was super oily and a greasy pool of oil ended up soaking through the parchment. As previously stated, the potato nuggets were just okay on this visit and weren't as crispy as it was on the first occasion. Note: In mid-August, I returned to try their Pollo Asado and Barbacoa Tostadas ($10.50) which are similar to tacos but come served on 2 fried 6-inch corn tortillas and garnished with sour cream, lettuce, cilantro, and cheese. The grilled cubed chicken (pollo asado) was pretty good and actually relatively easy to eat despite how much toppings were served on the tortilla. The chunks of lamb in the barbacoa were quite juicy and, hence, very messy to eat as all the juices started to drip everywhere. Definitely not the item to pick if you have issues with getting your hands a bit messy. This time around, my meal came with a side of crinkle cut fries - normally, I love crinkle cut fries but I found these to be a bit too fried and the inside of the fries weren't soft enough. Another couple of weeks passed before I returned to try their Chicken Flautas ($9.99) with a Mango Jumex Juice. A flautas is basically a taquito or rolled-up taco that's been fried up. The shell was super crispy and the toppings made this a bit of a knife-and-forker. Overall, I thought the chicken inside the flautas was a bit dry but probably to be expected since it's fried in the shell. In early October, I returned to try their Carnitas Sopes ($10). This is an item that I've never had before and I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. It visually looks similar to fried tostadas but it's really not the same. The sopes reminded me of little tart shells that are thicker on the bottom and with crisp edges. The shell actually makes a good holding container for the filling and it's easier to pick up and eat when compared to tostadas. As it's fried, it is a bit oily and you have to watch out for the juicy pulled pork filling but this was one of my favourite items here. So, overall, there's more than just tacos here and well worth a visit. read more

I ordered the tacos and fries which were absolutely amazing, the service is quick and the servers are great. We popped in to The Taco Factory after work today and were almost the only customers. This makes me sad as I want this restaurant to survive, especially when they serve such solid Mexican food! Maybe they do a booming business for lunch? Saturday night? I just don't know... There is a Thai place a few doors down and they had a line-up out the door, so I don't think it's about location. Located near Royal Columbian Hospital, this place is really brightly lit with a mix of tables and booths. The restaurant has lucha libre décor which is fun--lots of photos of wrestlers from a by-gone era. I didn't notice any music; maybe that would have helped with the ambiance. We were quickly attended to by a friendly waitress, who dropped off two small jars of hot sauce. No free tortilla chips, bummer. With not much to do, the waitress spent most of her time surfing on her phone and chatting with the kitchen staff. Can't say that I blame her. She was around when we needed her. I ordered the El Pastor burrito, which came with a side of French Fries. We had previously visited in July 2019 and the side back then was tater tots which I enjoyed more. However, my burrito was really yummy and the pork was fruity and moist. The tortilla was perfectly steam. The pickled onions were quite tangy but almost too spicy for me (I am a wimp). This place is garbage, order from "Mucho Burrito"instead, amazing portion sizes and they know how to cook a churro properly. I'm a forgiving soul but holy crap was my experience through door dash awful. Literally the worst takeout I've had in my entire life. Missing a whole order... burrito, drink, and guacamole. The rice was a goopy mushy mess, over cooked and bland. The fries were old, soggy and packed in with the burrito. The churros weren't even cooked all the way through and were mushy and doughy in the middle. The whole order arrived later than estimated (no big deal) but stone cold and improperly cooked which is unacceptable. My partner and I decided to make the best of it and we took one bite then threw it out, all the ingredients tasted off and were definitely sitting around for a day or two. My daughter and I ordered take-out at the Taco Factocy, which included three tacos, one al pastor and two chorizos. We had our dog with us, so we ate outdoors across the street. After having eaten half the al pastor, we realized there was no pineapple topping. We went back to the restaurant, and indicated to the cashier at the takeout counter that the pineapple was missing. She told me that it's normal to miss toppings when a small quantity of tacos is ordered (ie I only ordered one al pastor). I questioned how it's considered normal, and she insisted that it happens often. First time, I ordered a steak burrito and the cheese was completely burnt through out the burrito, which I don't even know how that happens. This is my first review on yelp. I never feel compelled to write these but the delivery we got from here tonight was by far the worst take out I've ever had. First of all they forgot a whole burrito and drink from our order THEN when we tried to eat the burrito we did get the rice was literally mush and the steak was chewy. We thought "hey! We were here for dinner tonight. You order at the front and then you are given a number to place on your table and the food gets delivered to you. Overall, we had a positive dining experience. We waited about 25 minutes for our food after ordering, but I guess that's to be expected at 7:30pm on a Friday night. Each meal comes with a small basket of what look like mini tatter-tots, that was a nice surprise. I liked the lamb and pork but the steak was a bit dry for my liking. The guacamole side was generous, I hope they keep it that way! And the tortilla chips were fresh and warm. We went here today because the manager told us the it was Mexican Independence Day and they would have pozole and tamales. We love those and we're happy to celebrate. We asked if they were serving pozole and the girl looked at me very puzzled which didn't make sense. If this is a popular Mexican soup, why does she know nothing about it. She mentioned tortilla soup. I don't know how pozole and tortilla sound even remotely close. We decided to eat anyway and got our faves. We chose my wife's favourite-the burrito and it was filled with rice! We have never had a burrito missing beans. The asada burrito was pretty good but there was hardly any meat in there.... And again tiny. Chorizo quesadilla was delicious and tiny, of course. The orders came with really oily, tasteless fries, which I'm guessing are there to justify the lack of food for $10 a dish. Another disappointment is the fact that there isn't a fresh salsa bar in there (like the restaurant that preceded it). Lastly, the staff wasn't aware I'd there tortillas contained gluten or not, so we had to walk over to the sushi restaurant to get my girlfriend's mum some food. My new favorite Mexican restaurant! We ordered chips and guacamole to start and I ordered the tortilla soup which tasted very fresh. My partner ordered some meat tacos that came with side of home fries which were tasty. They bring home-made sauces for the tacos which I'll have to try next time. The horchata was one of the best I've tasted and the churros were filled with some cream that was also delicious. Presentation was cute and came with a little side of hot chocolate. I noticed lots of people doing take-out but I'd recommend sitting in if you have the time. It also looked like they had a few local beers on tap along with bottled Mexican beers.
