This place is pretty good. I often get salmon fish tacos. Sometimes I'll get a dinner plate. I never had issues with them at all. Until one day. I decide to get something with my boyfriend. He gets a Super burrito and I get a dinner plate. There was metal in my food. I called the place to which they resolved this quickly. Asked if I'd like to come back for a new plate. To which I said no because I was tired and out all day already. They gave me credit for the food. They didn't not make it aware that this credit was only valid for 24 HOURS. I generally have no complaints about The Taco Place, but they blew it today. I called them and asked a young lady if they had jerk catfish available? She stepped away from the phone for a short moment to inquire and said, "Yes". I asked for a jerk catfish taco and then asked what steak and shrimp combos were available of which she'd named at least three. I ordered a steak and shrimp burrito suizo. She asked if that was all, I said yes and gave her my name. She should have repeated the order to make sure everything was correct on both ends and because she did not, apparently my asking about the steak and shrimp choice confused her and assumed that I not longer wanted the jerk catfish tacos which was my main reason for being there. When I picked up my order, the jerk catfish was not there and the young lady looked bewildered, stepping into the kitchen and returning with no explanation nor an apology for the mishap. I was going to let it slide until I got home and not only was there no sauce, but the burrito was cold and had to be microwaved in order to deal with this dry sandwich. This place used to be good... now, not so much.I ordered two steak tacos, that tasted like they were old. The shells were hard as bricks and the meat was dry and stiff. Also ordered flaming hot Cheetos elotes. The Cheetos was stale. My experience was terrible. read more

I absolutely love this place! Their food is so good and authentic which is hard to find. I have tried the steak, chicken, and shrimp tacos; I am not a big fan of the chicken but the steak and shrimp and VERRYYY good and they give you big shrimp For the tacos which is a major plus. I'm not a fan of corn shells I usually only like flour but one day I accidentally got corn and they didn't disappoint it's almost like they fry their shell a little so make it taste even better and it does. If you call ahead the food is always ready when you get there. I also really like that they have an affordable lunch special that comes with fries and they are not stingy with the fries at all! And if you get a dinner or a meal they give you the option to get an elote(Mexican corn) or beans and I've never been to a restaurant that does that. The place is VERY small I believe they only have one table that seats two so don't plan to eat here it isn't enough room. The place looks very clean the staff is ALWAYS respectful I've went here a few times and never had a problem with any of them. The food here is really good, but I can't even lie, I have had some really bad experiences a time or 3. Not to mention my husband has had his share of bad experiences as well, but we keep going back (insert eyeroll). I have had 1 situation where hair was in my food, my husband had the same issue (wrapped in his burrito . I've also had 2 situations where they completely messed up my order. First of all I never leave a bad or good review but they got me all the way messed up. I have been there a couple times and they were pretty good but today I decided to stop there in my way to the city. I ordered four tacos and specifically told her on one of the tacos I want tomatoes, I'm allergic to tomato's but the one I ordered with tomatoes was for my daughter. Omg where to start? This place has really good Mexican food. I was having a hard time trying to make a decision on what I wanted to eat. I ended up getting the "Taco Dinner" (3 Steak Tacos, Mexican Corn, and Spanish Rice for $10) It was so tasty and fulfilling! I also had the small "Steak and Shrimp" nachos. It was tasty as well (not a fan of the "loose" sour cream. I personally like thick sour cream but it's all about preference.) Too bad I didn't give myself a chance to take a picture. I would definitely recommend trying this place out if you love Mexican food (Even if you don't, try it!) They're not expensive but definitely worth it. The only thing is, if you live in Chicago or outside of Dolton, you will have to travel depending on your location. I traveled 30 minutes to check this place out. No complaints at all lol. My coworkers told me to try this place out. It is not visible from the main street so I would never have seen it if I wasn't looking for it. I ordered the 3 tacos and elite plate with 2 extra chicken tacos. When I got my order back to the office, I realized hat they handed me the wrong order. I called them to tell them of their mistake and the woman who answered the phone was very pleasant and apologized for the error. She offered to correct the order without me asking. This place is great. It's one of those little gems you find in a neighborhood tucked in a corner. I had a foodgasm within my first bite. I got the carne asada tacos with guacamole and chips. I would love to give this restaurant a 5-star rating; but the meat and cheese are WAY too salty. When I bite into the meat and/or cheese, all I taste is salt. It is so disappointing, not to mention the fact that I already have high blood pressure, and so do a large percentage of others in this community. I really hope they tremendously cut down on the amount of salt they put on their meat and cheese. Here's a little tip: You can reduce the amount of salt by 1/2 the amount called for in a recipe without changing the taste of the food. (The same is true with sugar and fat.) However, if you increase the amount of salt, sugar, and fat, you can really taste that it's too salty, too sweet, or too greasy. read more

It is located in a strip mall right off of Sibley Blvd. I walked in and it is a small place I would say more for takeout orders but they do have a couple of tables if you want to eat at the location. I ordered steak and chicken tacos, a chimichanga and the loaded fries with chicken. I waited a little less than ten minutes for my food so I was pleased with the wait. The chimichanga was huge!!! I ordered mine with steak and it came with lettuce, tomato, beans, onions, cheese, sour cream and avocado. The steak had a lot of flavor and it was tender. They also did not skimp on the toppings which I love. The loaded fries came with lettuce, tomato, cheese, onions, jalapeños and sour cream. The fries were very good and the chicken was seasoned well also. My family said the steak and chicken tacos were the best they ever had. I even liked their mild and hot salsa that came with the meal.
