Great Tea, Live Music, and Art in an unexpected location! I came here a few weeks back with my girlfriend having heard some good buzz from a few fellow tea enthusiasts. Although near the airport, as soon as you step inside what the owner later told me was a historic building you hardly notice. Cozy, nice atmosphere and had some interesting artwork upstairs. My girlfriend sipped the Autumnal Darjeeling while I had Wu Yi Oolong. It was a nice escape from what was a dreary cold and rainy New York day. Apparently an art opening was happening that evening as well and we people watched as a few rain soaked art enthusiasts straggled in. A really nice little jazz duo was playing in the room beside us lending a nice ambience to the whole experience. Would love to go again! read more

First time here, I had one of the best tea(I had the Jasmine green tea) of my life. ! Nice ambiance and awesome breakfast.

My friend invited me to Tailored Tea. She had a Groupon for the Historic Hills High Tea for two at $30 each. Overall, we paid $67 plus tips at the end of our terrible tea (and the Groupon clearly stated that it would be $50 for 2 people). It was TEA at 3:30 pm! The owner/chef or whatever he was, did not know how to bake scones, or how to put together a high tea, or how to prepare soups/salads. My Beet salad came with four slices of canned beat with a teaspoon of feta and four leaves of wilted spinach. He was not pleasant and did not follow etiquette as he noisily cleared dishes and other items from the dining area. The sandwiches--seemingly tea sandwiches that resembled make-believe sandwiches in a child's toy chest--tasted stale and terrible. The rock-hard scones were difficult to break and did not resemble a scone at all. The clotted cream was shameful, and the plate of tea breads and muffins were tolerable. The paper menus were so worn and faded that we could not even read the print. Printed menus on computer paper should be replaced once in a while. The owner could have done at least that. What's worse, my friend and I did not have both sides of the menu printed on the paper given to us. The only redeeming element during that afternoon was the young lady who waited on us. She was pleasant, helpful, and read the menu for us as we could not read the faded print. And, yes, the hot tea was satisfactory. I will never visit this awful restaurant. My first visit to Tailored Tea when it was open for business was fantastic. I met the owner who knew what she was doing. Apparently, ownership has changed. My previous visit was tepid, but I had thought that it was a bad day. Now I'm convinced that Tailored Tea should change its name to Dry sandwiches and Rocky Scones. The whole experience was a fiasco. And here is the finale. When we were ready to leave, I asked for the check. As though adding to the injury, they charged $17 on top of the Groupon amount of $50. The Groupon clearly specified that it was for two high teas, and not just the amount of $50.00. The server had no clue why we were charged so much. The only extra amount my friend and I were expecting was the tax. I STRONGLY do not recommend this tea lounge. Please be aware that not only the items are terrible, but the business itself is a scam. read more

I went here with my grandparents and I was a little disappointed with the service. The food was good but the service was slow. The tea was good, I believe we got 4 or 3 different kind of teas. The space was a little squished but it is a small house. My Grandmother bought some lose tea leaves from them. read more

We really enjoyed our visit. Scones were great. Skip the other desserts. Tea is excellent and kept nicely warm with tea candles. If tables are full, the room can get noisy. You can watch planes taking off and landing at Albany airport but they don't disturb. read more

Excited to finally eat here as it was on my list of places to try since moving to the area. It was very quiet when we arrived. My tea was nice, although it took a long time for it to come out. I was looking forward to the smoked salmon benedict on a scone but was incredibly disappointed. The salmon was "tough"/boney and did not taste good. The scone was very dense and dry, even after it sat for several minutes with the egg and sauce on it, it did not soften. When the waitress finally checked in with us and offered to get me something else my SO was already well into his meal so I said I would try to eat the eggs. The next time we saw the waitress was when we were presented our check. Won't be going back. read more

My daughter and I went to The Tailored Tea for lunch for my birthday. We were looking forward to it after reviewing their website. The restored farmhouse is beautiful and the antique linens and china are a nice touch. We both had the raspberry apple iced tea which was delicious. I ordered the quiche and green salad. I was surprised at how small the portions were and the quiche was lukewarm. My daughter had a turkey sandwich which came with a side of orzo salad. There was a modest amount of turkey on the sandwich and the side portion of orzo salad was about 2 tablespoons. We also shared a cranberry spice scone which was very good. The amount of food that you get is not worth the price that you pay. I guess you are paying for the quaintness of the facility. The service was also slow. The bill came to 27 dollars before the tip. read more

Just had breakfast there this morning. Was very Disappointed to say the least. Don't bother looking at the prices on their website because they have all gone up from between $.50 to $3 dollars a dish, which was already outrageous. How about an egg sandwich- 2 eggs, meat , and cheese- $11, I mean really?! Prices were high all around. My 3 year old got the animal pancakes for $9, she'll eat the bumper off a car and did not touch these, they were so dense and heavy with a crust. I got the strawberry french toast(per the waitress they are known for)- it was french toast.....with strawberries. Nothing standout about that at all. My wife got eggs, home fries, and ham. I thought the home fries were a pile of mushrooms, there were so small and black. We got the scones, they were good after you cut the burnt bottom off them. My wife loved her tea and tea pot set up. Very cool building was a plus but I didn't go there for the architecture. So for with tax and tip- $50 bucks for a terrible breakfast. Maybe it was an off day for these guys but I'll never know because I won't be going back. read more

Yesterday's lunch at The Tailored Tea was so lovely. We celebrated a 92nd birthday and it couldn't have been nicer. The rooms are filled with pleasant memories. As a lover of old perfectly ironed linens, there was much to admire. And, the food is so fresh and clean tasting. Each of us raved about our selection.The chicken soup and the side Cold Orzo salad were exceptionally good . My Lemon Thyme scone with the clotted cream was a perfect ending. I will return many times. The attention to details shows everywhere! This was my first time and was disappointed. Service was VERY slow and not attentive. Our reservation was messed up by a "previous party that stayed too long". The food was tasty but very small quantity and expensive. The tea was GREAT so if I went back I would go for tea and a cookie only. If you are hungry, look other places. read more

This has been the most pathetic experience , firstly inspite on vacant spaces we had to wait about 20 mins to be seated. Secondly aftwr placing order we get the tea which was not hot at all and to top the pathetic experience was the server who was not only rude but also expected us to dictate her what to get even though things were clear in menu . We ordered scones which comes with butter and jelly written on the menu but the server firstly lied that its not on the menu next she tell us that we are suppose to ask for it and when we asked her to get the menu card again she got a different menu which was just unbelievable. The tea house was adorable and the tea was tasty, however, the scones were like hockey pucks. They were so hard I could barely eat it. The hash browns were overdone with way too much rosemary and spices on them and the bottom of my egg frittata was burned. I wouldn't go back. read more

I had the cheddar cheese and banana scones plus the English breakfast tea when TT just opened. Everything was delicious, and the atmosphere and service were wonderful. I went back for lunch and found the soup excellent and had some more of the cheddar cheese scones. I can't wait to try the full breakfast menu. read more

We had made a reservation for Mothers Day and upon arrival found that the staff had failed to note it. The owner provided a gift certificate with her apology (she did recall taking the reservation over the phone, just forgot to write it down), which was a very thoughtful gesture. We returned a week ago to use the certificate, and I am sorry to say we probably won't be back. The egg dishes were overcooked and dry, the service was slow, the tables too close together and the scones were mediocre. What a disappointment. read more

A friend and I went to The Tailored Tea opening day. We were greeted at the door by a very pleasant server who showed us to our table. The tables looked so nice with the linen tablecloths, napkins and the different tea cups on them. We very much enjoyed the peach scones we had. I loved the atmosphere both inside and outside. Reasonable prices, good light lunch, love the historic setting. The tea offered was very good too. I enjoyed the Darjeeling. The service, however, was not great. I arrived for a table and was seated by the hostess and told her I was waiting for another person. My friend was running late, and I sat there for probably 20 minutes being ignored by multiple waitresses. I was never asked if I wanted to order a tea while I waited. Keep in mind the place was pretty much empty. Once we got the check we waited so long we had to get up and find someone to take the check while 3-4 people sat behind the pastry counter playing with their phones. As I said, the offerings were satisfactory and it's a cute place, but the service needs work, I would be willing to try again though if I'm in the area and give another chance. read more

My friend and I wanted to try this tea room after riding by a few times in the past. We were greeted by Sarah. She is sweet. She's attentive to her customers. As we waited for our breakfast we looked around at tables and decor around the room. The tablecloths were wrinkled and eclectic. The napkins didn't match the tablecloths to the point where it wasn't quaint. The decor in the room was not antique looking it was just hung on walls just so it didn't look bare. I love historical, primitive, distressed furniture. This was not at all like that. The walls need painting. Places can be old but they should be clean and appealing to the eye. The food was salty and the scones were so hard I could use it as a door knocker. The breakfast potatoes were so soaked in herbs it was over powering and chewy. We couldn't eat them and we noticed the people at the table next to us didn't eat them either. I tried to use ketchup to help but it wasn't happening! I know a friend Who is a master decorator she could go in there are make the place look fabulous with a farmhouse look if they would like and I suggest the chef tone down the herbs. The Tailored Tea is a great addition to this area. We had my daughter's bridal shower there, and we couldn't have been happier with everything. The room looked beautiful and the service was flawless. The food was impressive in terms of both taste and presentation. All of the guests commented on how nice everything was. My experience at the Tailored Tea was a great one. I took my granddaughter and she was delighted by the dress up clothes chest that is there and was able to try on different hats and jewelry. The atmosphere is very charming and the food, especially the scones, were absolutely delicious and well-presented. The staff is friendly and cheerful and the ambiance made this a very pleasant experience. The teas were plentiful and I tried the honey chai which was served in a nice teapot. The dinnerware is beautiful and I hope to return very soon with my friends to experience this very different tea house! It's about time we have a nice place like this to go to! read more

It's my first time here with my friend, and my first impression of this place from the outside was "amazing location!" because it was located near the airport which had a great view of the planes taking off and landing. This place is very small with cramped sitting. Sometimes i couldn't hear myself talk to my friend since we were sitting so close to other people. We could hear other peoples conversations, or the waitress taking someones orders. The service wasn't the best, i felt rushed out of there. Also when i asked the waitress a couple questions about the menu (since i am a vegetarian) she'd give me answers as if i made the menu up and should know all the ingredients in all the dishes. And when i asked for extra napkins she seemed pretty crabby about it. Make sure your tea cups are clean, i found mine to be dirty. What i did like about this place and what you should go for is the tea and scones! They have a lovely selection of teas and really yummy scones. read more

It was my first time there. My friend had been there and had the chicken pot pie and liked it so she wanted me to go with her. Beware, you have to make a reservation. We went last Sunday and decided to have breakfast. There were only 3 people in the room we were in. Service was slow ( my friend said it was when she went the other time too). Took a long time for our waitress to get to us. I ordered a egg sandwich, potatoes and a scone. She ordered French toast and scone. Both of us got orange juice. The orange juice tasted warm and bitter or sour. My friend switched to apple juice and I just drank the water. We waited an hour when the waitress came over to us and apologized and said she didn't think the omelet I ordered looked good so she sent it back. I reminded her I ordered an egg sandwich. When we finally got the food the potatoes had a funny taste and the egg sandwich wasn't that good. They added lettuce to the egg sandwich which I thought was strange. The only thing I enjoyed was the scone. That was delicious. My friend didn't care for the bread they used in her French toast. She was sorry she didn't get the chicken pot pie. So was I. There were little bugs flying around our table and when we commented about that the waitress said there was a party going on upstairs and the front door keep opening. I will not be going back. Best tea room we've ever been to. We've had lunch and breakfast. Wonderful scones. All baked goods done on site from scratch. Interesting combinations of the flavors in the scones. Great dressings on the salads. Just perfect. The building is also very interesting. read more

My husband and I just left the Tailored Tea for a birthday brunch for my 30th. We had an absolutely lovely time! My husband (who is not at all the tea party type) was pleasantly surprised. We entered the charming farmhouse and were immediately greeted by our very friendly and attentive server, Taylor. We chose two half pots of tea, and loved them both -- the pomegranate was perfect!! I ordered the smoked salmon scramble, and the husband had the omelet. Both were cooked to perfection, as were the scrumptious scones that were served with clotted cream (a pleasant surprise!) each dish also arrived with a side of potatoes, which were amazing as well. We ended the meal with a slice of white chocolate raspberry cheesecake - a little slice of heaven!! We will definitely be coming back!!!! read more

More than tea, this place is the place to be for breakfast, or lunch or anything inbetween. A restored historic farm house with amazing sunsets and two working artists upstairs. In addition, they have art exhibits of other local artists through out the building. Mother's Day was our first experience with The Tailored Tea. We arrived five minutes early for our 11:00 reservation to find chaos in the small foyer. We were kept waiting for about 15 minutes while other people continued to enter the cramped foyer. Other patrons who arrived after us were then seated before us. After we were seated and our drinks were distributed, it took about an hour for our entrees to arrive. It was obvious that the restaurant had overbooked and the kitchen could not keep up with the demand. My French toast, which was advertised as stuffed with marscapone cheese, arrived with no marscapone whatsoever. It was basically toasted bread. My husband's turkey sandwich was to have arrived on toasted bread--his bread was not toasted and the sandwich also did not have the advertised cranberry mayo. It was impossible to alert our server to these mistakes since she was overwhelmed by the amount of people they had crammed into our room, all of which she was serving on her own. All in all, a very disappointing meal, especially for Mother's Day. We will not return to this establishment. read more

The building is awesome and I like the mismatched tea settings that they use. Beyond that, not too much recommends the place. I have yet to have good tea here and it's a TEA HOUSE. The tea is always over-brewed. The food is bland and some of their feature items like the earl grey cookies are just unpleasant. You will end up picking tea leaves out of your teeth, because that is how they are flavored. Also, many of their pastries are ordered in. The waitstaff is polite and it's obvious they're trying hard, but they don't quite have it put together. read more

Tailored Tea is a beautiful building with quaint interior, and I was so looking forward to a fun dining experience. Lunch was a huge disappointment. The menu is a nice mix of breakfast, high tea offerings and sandwiches. However, it's execution where Tailored Tea falls short. To start with, the tea offerings are exceptionally limited and a pedestrian mix of bland and grandma's flavored teas. Our pot of oolong was weak and the tea had already been removed from the pot. The tomatoes bisque soup was amazingly good and served hot. Very good choice. Companion had an egg salad sandwich that was unexceptional in every way. My Swiss scone was unevenly cooked, nearly raw on one end, burnt cheese on the other. But it's dessert where this place really falls apart. We opted for the supermarket quality chocolate cupcake and the soggy lemon cake. Ugh. So sad. 1 pot of tea, 2 cups of soup, 1 scone, 1 sandwich, 1 dessert, 33 dollars read more
