The perfect lunch spot for a rainy day. Highly recommend getting the tower which comes with a soup, scone, and sandwich of your choice. That is definitely the best value! Servers are kind and attentive.

A MUST- TRY FOR FALL! Whistling Kettle just released this pumpkin cheesecake tea (non-caffeinated) and it's amazing and perfect for autumn! Make sure you get the cold foam on top as well!

Big fan of the whistling kettle for an afternoon tea moment. They have an expansive menu with a variety of crepes, sandwiches, salads, and soups to choose from. There are also so many teas and fun drinks to pick from as well! I usually go with the afternoon tea tower, which is definitely a bang for your buck. You get a sweet item, a soup or salad, and a savory item for a wonderful cost. The workers are friendly and usually there isn't too long of a wait to be seated. The location itself is kept tidy and has a cute ambiance. This location in Troy is at the heart of a lively street, with plenty of fun shops to peek into. During the warmer seasons, the street hosts the Troy farmer's market on weekends which make a visit to the Whistling Kettle even more fun! There's usually street parking nearby.

A little crowded=noisy with high ceilings is the only downfall, but that means it is popular, which means the products they sell are good and in high demand. Great tea selection in your personal pot if you sit down, yes the have to-go cups and yes they have smoothies. Clean and not too bright.

Quaint cafe specializing in tea, sandwiches, & crepes. There was a line to be seated, but the operation ran smoothly and it didn't take long before our name was called. The tables are very close, but it adds to the charm and intimacy of the space. With that said, the table top was so small that there was barely enough room for the tea, water, and food. Considering how busy it was, the food came out quickly. You can get a personal pot of tea for $5 and tons to choose from... they even have tea flights if you can't decide. This was a unique dining experience that I would highly recommend if you find yourself in Troy.

Highly recommend. Multiple vegetarian and vegan options which are made fresh. Quality has remained consistent over the past several years. Prices are very reasonable. They have a great selection of teas as well. It's a cute restaurant in down town Troy. Parking can get tricky though. Definitely recommend

Super cute dining spot in downtown Troy. Serving up an abundance of delicious sandwiches, salads, and crêpes. The tea menu is extensive and they serve an accessible tea service all day long. Stopped in on a Friday at midday for a bite and was not disappointed. The service was super friendly, the atmosphere was brightly lit but comfortable. I got the ratatouille Panini with a side salad which was absolutely delicious. I bypassed the extensive tea menu and opted for some French press coffee which was smooth and served in a carafe with enough for a few cups. I did not try the crêpes but they looked delicious. Next time in the area I would certainly come back.

A great spot for brunch or lunch in the Collar City! Their three tiered Afternoon Tea is a must. On top, choose between any of their sandwiches, paninis, savory crepes or quiches, while on tier two you can choose a house salad or one of their three soups, or upgrade to a specialty salad or bowl of soup for a few dollars more. On the bottom, choose a scone, or for a small upcharge, choose a cake slice or sweet crepe. I opted for the Apricot, Ham & Brie sandwich, which is delicious. The bread is like a cloud - it's so pillowy! The house salad is just ok, nothing special. I'd recommend going with a specialty salad for a small upcharge. For the sweet tier, I ordered the fruits of the forest scone, which is full of berries, and comes with strawberry jam and clotted cream. It was fantastic - not dry at all! For my drink, I ordered a pot of the seasonal Gingerbread Tea, which was awesome. I highly recommend it! Overall, it's a great spot, but like many other reviews have mentioned, the service is usually lacking as it was at the time of my visit. The staff seems to be very overwhelmed, which means you'll likely wait a little for your food.

Good Morning Tea w Ratatouille Sandwich, Fruits of the Forest Scone, and Lobster Bisque

Came here for Sunday brunch with a group of friends from the wedding party. Super crowded and a reservation is a must. My gf ordered the Good Morning Tea ($20), where she selected the Ratatouille Sandwich, Fruits of the Forest Scone, and Lobster Bisque. I got to take a bite/sip of her food and they all were solid choices. I just ordered a Turkey Avocado ($12) and loved it. Thought it was better than my gf's Ratatouille Sandwich. I also ordered a French Press Coffee ($4), where they serve you an entire pitcher of coffee, so you're getting your money's worth. Service is pretty good for the most part. Friendly, professional, and patient dealing with all ten of us who had various dietary restrictions. No complaints there.

The Roosevelt Room in Troy was a great experience from start to finish. I was honestly expecting a standalone building, but it is tucked into a strip mall near HVCC. That said, parking was easy and stress free, which is always a plus. This was our first visit as a party of four, and the service was superb. The attention to detail really stood out and was noticed immediately. Our waitress checked in at the right times, kept drinks filled, and made sure everything came out exactly as expected. Meals are made to order, so substitutions were no issue at all, and it was nice to see gluten free options available. When you walk in, you pass through a curtain and are immediately greeted by a coat attendant who takes your coats, which instantly gives the place an upscale feel. The ambiance is well done, with soft lighting and nice background music. It is on the smaller side and dimly lit, but that is clearly intentional. The menus actually light up, which was a unique and thoughtful touch that fits the atmosphere perfectly. We had reservations and were seated right away. It did not seem necessary on this particular evening, but I would definitely recommend them on a weekend given the size of the space. The food itself was excellent. Everything we ordered was very tasty, and the presentation across the board was impressive. Desserts are prepared by a pastry chef and were just as good as the rest of the meal. It is definitely on the pricey side, but that is to be expected for the level of service and atmosphere. This feels like a special occasion type of place, and in that context, it is worth every penny. We really enjoyed our night and would absolutely come back. There was also a sign mentioning live jazz on Fridays, which sounds like a great added touch. Overall, a very strong 5 stars.

This is a lost service in the restaurant industry, but a lovely touch. We were seated in, what can only be described as, a room with phenomenal atmosphere. Low light, but you could see, comfortable seating, amazing art on the walls, and a perfect spot for a romantic dinner. The service was top notch. We were offered water immediately. They have a cocktail menu that included historical cocktails dating back to the 19th Century until present day. The cocktails were perfect. We had pre-ordered a half bottle of champagne. It was very good. We also ordered caviar service. It is 1 ounce with sour cream, egg whites, yolks, and onions. Fresh made Bellinis that were still warm. We enjoyed it immensely. It was a lovely compliment to the champagne. For an appetizer we enjoyed the escargot. We have had escargot in many places, rarely, if ever, was it as good at this was. The garlic butter was on point, the crusty bread was a great addition to the dish. It was served with tiny leaves of Swiss chard. We cannot recommend this enough. We ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon from their extensive wine list, Stag's Leap. This wine paired perfectly with the filet mignon bordelaise, and the veal chop with cherry peppers. We had a visit with the chef, he was a wonderful representative of this amazing restaurant. We cannot recommend this place enough. It's a little spendy, but worth every penny. Service, 5 stars! Atmosphere, 5 stars! Food, better than 5 stars! We will definitely be back.

It was darkly lit inside (with pinkish/red lights no less); it was extremely loud to the point that I had trouble understanding what my wife was saying (which might not be the background music!); and the prices were expensive. The entire night they played 1980s New-wave British music which I don't mind, but had it been something I detest I would have lost my mind. We were seated at a tiny table with a small candle which provided some actual heat on the cold winter night. Our server was extremely helpful and though he didn't have all the answers he did offer to go and find out. They have a long menu but it doesn't have a lot of food options on it, with most of the pages devoted to alcohol. They had only one dessert option when we were there. My wife and I both ordered the Hanger Steak with fries, mushroom sauce, and green salad (about $40 each). Hanger steak is my favorite cut and hard to find so I jumped on it. Food came out in about 25 minutes, which is amazing considering how small their kitchen is. The steak was cooked perfectly (they didn't ask how we wanted it), smothered in a lovely mushroom sauce, and covered an ample portion of crispy homemade fries which were so good I would have thought them bagged frozen items. Even the basic salad which was just various types of lettuce was great. They aren't cheap, but they are focusing on "farm to table" and that means quality food at commensurate (fair?) prices. Burgers and chicken sandwiches are $15, so if you want something lighter but still tasty you can go that route. Speaking of light, if you go into the bathroom on the right you will find a cold, dark, tiny room lit solely by a PINK bulb. It feels like being on a spaceship (as if I know what that is like), and after when you leave seeing the main light in the restaurant is very jarring. It was a fun experience but not inexpensive and not one that checks the boxes that I look for in a restaurant. Dark, loud, and cramped might be hip for the young or "save the earth" crowd, but I am too old to give up creature comforts for such things. The food, though expensive, was absolutely outstanding in every way though and I won't forget that steak for a long time.

I've been to Innovo Kitchen in Latham several times over the years and I've enjoyed it every time. They have a unique menu that changes periodically, but I always find something that catches my eye. The interior has an industrial feel which I like, with a lot of exposed brick. The tables are made from old bowling lane wood, which is a really cool touch. When you walk in there is also a bowling pin displayed in a glass case. I remember there being a bowling alley somewhere in that plaza when I was a kid, so it seems likely the building has some history tied to that. The tables are also nice and large, which makes the dining experience more comfortable. Tonight I ordered the Monte Cristo burger which is described as battered Buckley's Bread sourdough, a 6 oz special grind burger, Taylor pork roll, Swiss, and Twin Leaf Farms maple aioli. It was quite tasty and I really enjoyed the hint of maple syrup flavor on the burger. The crinkle cut fries that came with it were also very good. Another person in our party ordered the White Chicken Parmesan, described as a crisp chicken cutlet topped with ricotta and garlic spinach and fresh mozzarella, with garlic parmesan cream and lumache pasta. They said it was delicious. Someone else had the Crispy Skin Salmon and enjoyed that as well. A child at our table ordered macaroni with red sauce. The portion was surprisingly large and they liked it, which is impressive because they are particularly finicky. For dessert we ordered something we've had here several times before, the peanut butter mud pie. It's basically ice cream in pie form with an Oreo cookie crust and chocolate fudge. It's very tasty and also a generous portion. At the end of your meal they also offer everyone at the table a tasty piece of gourmet chocolate. One thing that really stood out tonight was the attentiveness of the management. Two different managers stopped by our table at different times to check and make sure everything was good. I recognized one of them because I've seen him there before and he always seems to make a point of checking in with guests. The other person had seated us so I initially thought she was the hostess, but after she stopped by during the meal I asked if she was a manager and she confirmed that she was. I mentioned that I was impressed that two different managers had checked on us, and that every time I've dined there a manager has stopped by to make sure everything was good. I thanked her and told her it was appreciated. During the summer and fall they also have a very nice patio area for outdoor dining. On cooler nights they have heaters and a fireplace which makes it a great place to sit outside. I will definitely return here again in the future. 5 stars
