Nestled in a private building off the main street you pull up to The Taj which is hidden with some beautiful pine trees, the moment you open the front door you'r transported via the orient express to Bombay India. Let's get right into it, I arrived at 5:00 pm and it was busy, the wait staff was professional pleasant and had a firm understanding of all the items on the menu. The food was outstanding the butter chicken was some of the best I've ever had the lamb kabobs were Delicious full of flavor & not overpowering. The naan bread was offensively delicious I could not stop eating it I recommend you do not have the naan bread because you may form a habit with it. Overall a wonderful experience to find such high-quality Indian food in a local marketplace. Food 10/10 Service 8.75/10 Ambience 9.5/10 They did not have beer and wine which is not that big of a deal it is a must try if you're ever in the Cedar City area.

Visited on a Friday afternoon, and the restaurant was pretty quiet... but that has to be because the locals don't know how good this food is! We were seated immediately, and the waitress was really helpful in deacribing some options for my wife (who cannot tolerate any spiciness). Food came out quickly and was absolutely perfect! I've never had more-tender lamb (in the Lamb Curry) and the Tikka Masala was exactly perfect for my wife. We tried both the regular and garlic naan, and preferred the garlic - but both were top tier. The waitress was very attentive through the meal, and refilled drinks and rice right away. Can't wait to go back!

This is a must try Indian restaurant if you are in the Cedar city area. The food is so fresh, authentic and delicious!! We had the pleasure of meeting the chef and owner, he is a wonderful person. You can tell he is so passionate about Indian cuisine and that is reflected in the delicious food he prepares.

The Kashmiri Lamb Curry is to die for!

What an absolute treat! It's hard to find really exceptional Indian food anywhere, let alone in a small mountain town in Southern Utah, but, here we are! The Chef that owns and operated this place is a remarkable person. Chef Vijay Deokar started cooking at the young age of 14 when he bought his first car and traveled around India learning how to cook. He's worked for five star restaurants, cruise ships as well as a variety of other well established restaurants and he brings his expertise and knowledge to this small corner of Utah with skill and enthusiasm. If you don't try this restaurant, you have certainly missed out on an opportunity of a lifetime! Yea, it's really THAT good. Today, was my first time here and the variety of items is really quite impressive. I'm definitely going to have to come back. So, for lunch today I chose the Kashmiri Lamb Curry with Garlic naan and a Mango Lassi. The Mango lassi is similar in texture and thickness to a milk shake but not as heavy as it is a yogurt based drink. It carries the flavors of the mango very well and the flavors just pop on your tongue. It's a wonderful drink to start off any meal. The Kashmiri Lamb Curry is something to behold. The sauce is made from scratch with tomatoes, garlic, onions and a variety of spices. The levels of complexity for this sauce is hard to describe. The flavors simply dance on your tongue. The lamb is cooked to perfection. It's fork tender, flavorful, supple and just the right amount of bite to it. It's not too firm and not too mushy. It holds up very well in the sauce and poured over the jasmine rice the flavors work wonders. Honestly, I haven't had Lamb this good since my visit to Kiev, Ukraine! The restaurant itself is massive. Lots of space, several different rooms, an outdoor patio and a bar. Sadly, today, I was the only person eating in the restaurant until I was nearly done eating. I certainly hope that this place continues to be successful because the husband and wife really take pride in their business and their food. They are kind, attentive and very intelligent. Talking to Chef Vijay is a real treat as well. I look forward to coming back and hopefully, with a little luck, Chef Vijay will allow me to watch him cook as he prepares my meal. If you like Indian cuisine then you'll love this place. If you've ever thought about trying Indian food, I couldn't think of a better place to start than here. The Taj is indeed a little slice of heaven in the middle of the wilderness. Don't miss this exceptional restaurant.

Still trying to figure out how to give this place 6 stars. We got our food to go so I don't know about the dine in experience. Food is incredible and full of flavor. I'm not one to fluff up my reviews too much so all you need to know is that you should absolutely give this place a try

Never again …read more Whole order had absolutely no taste. No onions no tumeric and no salt Literally taste like plain chicken in liquid with no flavor Ordered through Uber eats. I will never try this place again Coconut and Tikka masala. Not sure how they are in business as it's the worst I've ever had for Indian food. Jar indian sauce is way better at Smith's and Albertsons

I'm certain that when the owners of this restaurant were dreaming of what they wanted to create,…read morethis was not it. This is what happens when you compromise to the point where there is very little left to compromise on. It's under decorated, the seating is poorly designed, it's too dark and the music... George Straight... What in the world?!? I understand that you are in Cedar City. I understand that you may actually like this type of music. I don't. But, it would seem much more appropriate to be playing something closer to Indian entertainment and music. When I walked in there was only the children of the owner. They were far too busy playing on their phones to even bother looking up, let alone welcoming me. I walked entirely across the restaurant and tapped the daughter on the shoulder before shoe would even look up. The cook or maybe that was the owner eventually made his way out to take my order. In the meantime, they had received a shipment of food which was still sitting on the floor behind the register. And as I said, the children couldn't be bothered to even help even here. I ask what is good, the daughter makes a suggestion of the Chicken Tiki Marsala. I order that. I Chai Tea, which they were out of, I asked about regular tea. Sorry, no tea at all. You guys are in the same complex as a grocery store. Go buy some! I'm from the 5 star world where if a guest asks for something, you get it for them. Period! Even if it means getting in your car and driving to get it! You don't even need to do that! Just send one of your kids over and pick some up. I'm certain they are capable of that. The food was good. I asked for medium and the spicing was perfection! The rice was not basmati nor jasmine but cheap white rice with little aroma and little flavor. The chicken was industrial cut, large chunks out of a bag. I guess the real question here is what are the owners even doing at this point? What IS this?!? It's not fast food. It's certainly not full service. I ordered a slice of mango cake which was still frozen and it was brought with the entree. I think it's time the owners really look at what this place has become. If it were an animal it would be taken out back and shot! I used to be a restaurant owner myself and it's why I write these reviews. I'll bet honest with you. There were several times I wanted to just walk out. I didn't. I regret it now. I don't know what to tell you. When you decide to be serious about creating an experience, let me know. In the meantime... whatever this is... good luck!

We ordered the Lamb Biryani, Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag Paneer and Coconut Raisin Naan. Prices were good and the flavors were great. I honestly wasn't expecting an Indian place in La Verkin to be so flavorful, I hate to say, but I was pleasantly surprised when I bit into the Tikka Masala that it was indeed spicy as I had ordered it. And what a nice surprise with the coconut raisin naan! Would highly recommend this place. They were even kind enough to give us to go plates and silverware since we were at the hotel. This ended up being the best meal oddly enough on our road trip from Texas. Sure maybe because we were eating a ton of crappy camp food and then all of a sudden came upon an oasis of flavor again, but I think even compared to some Dallas Indian spots, this one was better.
