If you want a dining experience a bit outside the norm, Anasazi is worth a try. It's interactive dining featuring fondue and heated volcanic rocks. Admittedly, the hot stone concept can feel a bit gimmicky at first, but it was a lot of fun. I loved being able to cook my steak to my liking! The horseradish sauce was outstanding. This place has a wonderful vibe and a fun atmosphere. The fondue cheese was great. They give you plenty of options to dunk in your cheese pot. Cooking your steak at your table on the hot lava rock is a fun little twist. I had a 20 ounce New York strip and it was cooked perfection because I cooked it in front of myself. This was my second time to the restaurant. My previous visit was left with mixed feelings. So to find out if it was still somewhat disappointing, I came back for their pricey New Year's special dinner complete with cute little party favors on the table and tiaras for the adventurous. However, despite the amazing atmosphere, and the promise of what could've been really epic holiday meal, my mostly absent server just couldn't get his act together to bring me a second glass of wine. On a holiday (of all days) you'd think they'd realize people are letting loose a little. But instead of a fun fun fun price fixed meal with plenty of wine and a party atmosphere, it was the usual angry stressed out staff slapping frozen food onto the table and acting like they are doing you a favor by bringing things to eat. I dont like eating here much. It's kind of a trend I've noticed in St George restaurants. Doesn't matter what sort of restaurant, If you want to drink something other than water, you will need to be very lucky to get it before your meal. Sometimes, as in this case, you wont get it until YOUR CHECK ARRIVES. So they get they get this sort of review, instead of a good one. Ambience: awesome Food freshness and quality: terrible. Other than the meat cuts, which are fair to middling at best (and at worst can be the chewiest toughest piece of meat you've ever had the misfortune of putting in your mouth), everything that is put on your table comes out of the freezer. This was the first time we've been to Anasazi. We just moved back from up north. The food was good, but for the price I wouldn't say it's as good of quality as other fancy restaurants we've gone to. My husband felt like his steak was really tough. I had the bison and it was very good, but for the price I wasn't impressed. The meat may be specialty, but the potato's were basic and the five carrots on my plate were underwhelming. The fondues were tasty. We liked the cheeses a lot and the caramel chocolate fondue was very good. The decor feels a little outdated and the place just seems somewhat rundown for being one of the highest priced places to eat in town. When eating fancy I always feel the cost is 2/3 for the food quality and 1/3 for the atmosphere and I felt that some was lacking in both regards. Our service was phenomenal Amber is a great addition to your team. She was very attentive and payed attention to detail. The food was good, we had an issue with our steak being gristly but Amber took care of it quickly and got me a different one. The manager came by and spoke to us and was very nice and offered us cheesecake for desert on her. To be fair, we did have a large group of 14. But also, we were in no hurry and had no timeline. So when the waiter mentioned to us that he was the only one serving our table and that he would appreciate patience as it might be a little slow, we were happy to accommodate....the first time. But every time he came to our table, he reminded us that he was the only one working the table. We heard it at least 8 times. He actually did a very good job with what he had to work with, but the restaurant's system just doesn't work for a large group. The servers mix the cheese fondue themselves, so when there's a table ordering 5 cheese fondues....it can get stressful, and we understood that. But when one of our party ordered a second champagne, which comes in a small bottle with about 2 glasses worth (one of which I actually drank), his response was "you want ANOTHER one?!" and it sounded very judgmental. We ordered the Italian cheese fondue, thinking it would be basic parmesan, asiago, Romano type cheeses, but it had a slightly spicy flavor to it that was more southwestern. Maybe we would have been happier if we'd ordered the more traditional swiss cheese, which another family in our party ordered and they liked. Very little bread was served with the cheese, but the apples and vegetables were fresh. The steaks were all served on a very hot stone, every single one of which was 1/4 missing. It didn't really make much difference in cooking the steaks, but it didn't feel like a $50 steak service because of that. (as a side note, cooking my own steak at a restaurant is not my idea of a good time - I can do that at home for a lot less and it just feels awkward. But I'm not including that in my opinion of the restaurant). The baked potato side looked delicious - a very generously sized potato. On the other hand, the mashed potatoes was a small scoop of school cafeteria mush with 5 tiny baby carrots. The tiny amount of mashed potatoes next to the giant baked potato was a joke - and we laughed and laughed about it. (I wish I'd taken a photo) At some point during the main course, the wait staff ended up opening up all the doors - we were seated in a side room, and the ventilation couldn't keep up with the smoke from the steak stones. It was fine, we weren't cold but if that's the restaurant's style, the ventilation system should be designed to keep up with it. Our reservations were at 7:15 and we were seated on-time. A few of our party told the waiter they would be ordering only the cheese fondue, and then dessert fondue (no main course). So when he brought our bills after the main course, without even offering dessert, we were very surprised. Afterwards, as we were leaving, we realized they closed at 9:00 - it was almost 10:00 and that's why he was kicking us out. But if you can't accommodate a group that size in 2 hours, you shouldn't agree to seating them. We did order dessert and he had to redo the bills. The chocolate fondue was pretty good, although we were not given forks or dessert plates so it was a bit cumbersome. Especially the slice of cheesecake, which was about 50% of the dessert that was meant to be dipped into the chocolate but couldn't hold up to the heat at all so just crumbled in. If we'd been given a spoon or something, we could have drizzled the chocolate onto the cheesecake and done it that way. read more

For those that don't understand, you cook your own meat on a hot rock. We love it because we all like our meat cooked differentl, so you get it just how you want it. We started out with a yummy Old Fashioned. The food experience was one of a kind. The cheese fondue was Californian and it was perfectly blended with perfect herbs. We had a 10oz Filet mignon and chose to cook it at table on Rock. Delicious as well. The rice, carrots and sautéed mushrooms equally delectable. The server Sandy was perfect and attentive. Went to this restaurant last night for my best friend's 75th birthday. We both had the salmon, which was cooked to perfection! The potatoes and baby carrots, as well as the house salad, were also perfect. Our server was MJ: the lady knows how to treat people! She was professional; courteous; listened to our needs; showed a sense of humor; and was just very nice to talk with. MJ even lit a firework for my BF and sang happy birthday with me to her. (I will definitely request MJ's 'area' next time!) We are both older women and have many times been treated as if we were a bother; not worth chatting with; and that the server was worried we wouldn't tip correctly due to our age. Seriously, this has happened a few times. MJ is someone who cares about her customers and people in general. We sat outside, as it was a beautiful night. Fantastic service and food and warm service. Waiter Jake was slammed but took good care of us. Using the lava rock/granite hot stones to cook our main plates to our individual liking was quite cool. Mains come with a salad and side which is nice. Blowing our minds, one of the waiters took notice of our admiring one of the framed photos by our table which he took himself. The onion soup tasted bland with zero flavor, the salad was so tiny that the the small bread plate that it was on barely contained it, the filet mignon was decent and sides! This review is so hard to write. Anasazi used to be one of the best restaurants in St. George. Now, it's mediocre. We had a reservation and were seated right away. It took our waitress 15 minutes to come out and get our drink order. We also knew what we wanted to eat so we ordered our appetizers and entrees. Another 15 minutes went by, our salads came out (smallest salads ever besides the upgrade to the Caesar), then one of our appetizers, then our drinks. We all ordered water too so not sure why it took so long. The ahi appetizer was great and I would definitely order it again. The stuffed mushrooms were okay but kinda soggy. The Caesar salad was good but needed a little more dressing. Now, the entrees. We all ordered different cuts of steak on the rocks. These took about an hour to come out. Why? Who knows. The steak quality, it's there, 100% but the steaks lack flavor. I have to say, this time wasn't as good for any of us (party of 6) compared to our last visit only a couple of months ago. The rolls are store bought. The carrots were cold and the mashed potatoes didn't taste fresh. We enjoyed the experience of cooking it ourselves but the customer service, including waiting time, and waitress experience was very poor. The only good food to come back for was the Ahi and the quality of the meat. For a better experience where all the food is good and the quality of everything you eat is amazing, I would recommend Sakura and skip Anasazi until they can figure things out. read more

I would say the only redeeming quality about this restaurant was the service. Our server Brandon was attentive and accommodating, but the overall the food was mediocre at best and way over priced. The sides that they served with the entree (garlic mashed potatoes) were flavorless and cold, twice. I had to send back the first plate because they were cold and the second plate was no better. My partner ordered the shrimp and scallops plate with extra scallops (additional charge). He received 4 shrimp and 4 scallops. We are from out of town and when we searched fine dining, this place came up and sounded like a fun choice with some interesting food options. I would say that the atmosphere and food was much more cafeteria than fine dining. We ended up leaving extremely disappointed and found another restaurant around the corner where we had a delicious appetizer and dessert to make up for the tiny food portions. We were a party of three for dinner tonight. I have eaten there for years and find it as wonderful as always! Each of us had a different steak, cooked on the stone, and our steaks were perfect! We had a rib eye, a filet, and a flat iron. All of us found our steaks to be seasoned perfectly and very, very tender. It was a joy! We began with the Gruyere/onion fondue that was delicious! For dessert, we chose to have creme brûlées. Our server, Amber, was attentive, relatable, and took time with us. I don't know why there are negative comments, but this was a stellar experience! This has been a "go to" place for special occasions since before I moved here over 10 years ago. If you want good steak & you want it cooked perfectly to your "doneness", this is the place to go. The steaks are wonderful! Yesterday, I had dinner with 2 of my besties to celebrate our birthdays. Our waiter was Todd & he provided us with the best service. It's so refreshing to dine someplace where you don't have to stand in line to order your food! Todd is a gracious server with a great personality. Back to the food. The entrees were fabulous! 2 of us had the filet. The other birthday girl had the scallop/shrimp combo. That was all fabulous! What was a huge disappointment to me was the rest of the dinner. The dinner salad was small, but nicely done. It was picture-worthy. The dinner rolls were air. Nothing. No flavor. No texture. The entrees were served with the hot rocks & the presentation was picture-worthy. Then came the sides.....I don't know what the heck happened to that part of the dinner. It was a little white plate with very weak whipped, not mashed, potatoes, along with a few of those little fake baby carrots you buy at the grocery. I was the only one who didn't order dessert because I was afraid it might be as bland as everything else. I gave this dinner a 4 out of 5 because of the sides. This place needs to rise up & meet the potential of their kick-butt-cool building, the good meat presentation & the amazing help. This is potentially a 5-star restaurant in the midst of a fast food crap. I hope they read this because I really want to support them & I'm a frequent diner. I continually eat at a restaurant in Ivins because of the above comments. I would love to dine more at ASH, but they're a bit of a disappointment. Went with some girlfriends while we were having a girls weekend. 2 of us hadn't been there before. It seemed like a fun, unique experience and it was! We shared some different cuts of beef and cooked them ourselves. They were really good. I asked for a side of the broccoli and it ended up being a mix of broccoli and cauliflower. Which is not an issue, but for the cost... it was very small AND seemed like it was from a frozen food package and had zero seasoning on it. The sides seemed very small. Our server was great, she answered our questions and let us chat with her a bit. We ordered a chocolatey-Carmel fondue and that was fun too! I think it was the manager was the one that got that set up for us. It was also really raining hard that evening and they offered to escort us with umbrellas to the car. Very thoughtful! Out of town relative, wife and I were intrigued by the idea of a fondue and a salad for a light dinner. A Swiss fondue for three, three salads (only one with an added protein- shrimp) and one beer. Oh, and an overly-talkative waiter who couldn't believe we didn't want to cook $40 steaks on our own special rocks. $100! Wouldn' t recommend. Fondue was marginal, each salad lettuce was wilted and if I want to cook my own steak, I can go to DM, pick a steak of my own choosing for half the price and grill it at home. read more

But, this place advertises itself as a steakhouse, and the steak is bad. The ribeye is very thin like something one would get at a cheap steakhouse and the meat was not tender. No marbeling. I think they advertise it as angus, but the quality, taste, and texture was like select. The side salad was acceptable but the side mashed potatoes were not good. We did not get desert but I wanted to try the chocolate fondue. I might go back just for the fondue but I wouldn't consider ordering a steak. We were seated in their over flow room which felt like a cafeteria, the gum under the table that stuck to my napkin certainly didn't help. The oven wasn't working today so that eliminated a big part of the menu including no bread. Our main entrees were good but the sides were tiny and very bland as well as their house salads. When we talked to the manager she said she was sorry but did not offer anything to help our perception, a coupon for dessert for next time a discount, nothing. We visited Anasazi last weekend, and it has gone WAY downhill. My wife made reservations for 8 and specifically asked for the upstairs. When we got there, they said that there was a large party already up there and we couldn't sit there. The young kid at the door outright lied to us as there wasn't anyone up there. I'm sure it's because they were too lazy to deliver upstairs. They also tried talking us out of it because "it would be too smoky. The whole place was smoky. Why they don't have better ventilation nis beyond me. When some of us asked if our steak could be cooked on the grill instead of using the hot stone. The waiter actually said the cooks don't like to do that. Now that's service? The sides were a joke as well. The mashed potatoes were the size of an ice cream scoop. It's way overpriced!
