It was excellent and really succulent with a really nice red wine reduction. The wine is pretty reasonable here too - I'm a huge Chianti fan and the ones here are really smooth and very drinkable indeed! The wontons were so small with meat I thought they had made a mistake and only put in the crispy bits. I was told that this is the way they do it. The containers were some of the smallest I have ever seen and were not even filled. One of the containers (which was at the bottom of the bag) had a corner broken off of it and was blamed on delivery, although when I explained it was at the bottom of the bag and there was no broken plastic anywhere I was informed it was still the delivery drivers fault (who was on a moped, which is understandable if there was eveidence of the broken piece)......... Does this mean that the delivery drivery driver picked out the broken piece or that the person who handled my food container was so careless that they didnt even realise????? There was no display of the fact that I would get dipping sauce with my won tons so I ordered a sauce (£2.50) and when my order came there was a sauce already with it, fine thats not a problem, in fact thats a good thing I get free sauce with my won tons, although maybe a side note when im ordering it wouldve been good so I knew that there was already sauce with it so i didnt have to buy sauce for no reason. Its a fair walk from the center of town but well worth the trek. Its a gastro pub as it should be in my opinion; non pretentious, friendly and comfortable. The whole place has that Parisian bistro feel which I love. The place recently won a 'Bib Gourmand' award - so when my starter, trio of paortland crab with crab souffle, crab bisque & hot crab toast arrived I knew why. It was presented on a black slate tile which looked amazing and tasted even better. For the main I went for the haunch of venison which can sometimes be a touch too gamey but it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. We had starter and main each, a bottle of white wine (plus a glass of red with my venison) and coffees (mine was Irish) and the bill came to around £75. All Gingerman restaurants give you a stamp on a reward card for every £25 you spend though, once you fill up your card you get a two course meal for one to use at any of their places. The food is not a long way off Michelin star quality in my opinion so I think its extremely reasonable here.

The Bell is Owned by a chap called Bertie Burton who unfortunately wasn't there when I popped in but the friendly barmaid said he's a real character. The first thing I noticed was the great selection of real ales (Harveys, Bombadier, Tim Taylor and Summer Lighting) and then I saw a plate of food being wisked out to a customer; a plate of bubble and squeak, smokey bacon, poaced egg and hollandaise. Made my mouth water. I'm popping back on Sunday for their slow roasted pork belly (not bad at £7.25) and then possibly for a game of Wii on Monday night.
