What a nice little surprise! Even though the website pictures makes the hotel appear to be much larger than it really is, its really nice spot. Thankfully, there is additional parking in the back because the parking in front of isn't plentiful. The pool is small, but looked clean. There is a tasty Mexican restaurant next door. We walked over as soon as well checked in. The rooms are nicely decorated and very clean. The area was quiet on a Saturday night. The surrounding area is nice and welcoming. I was comfortable walking to some of the nearby taverns. This is a great little hide-a-way! read more

I would stay here again. The area seems quite safe and there are a lot of eateries within walking distance including Chipotle, Subway, Bob's Big Boy, a nice Mexican and another Thai restaurant. When I say walking distance, I mean within a block or 3. The location is super convenient to the Burbank Airport (about a 10 minute drive away), NBC, Disney, Warner Brothers and Universal Studios. This hotel has free parking and wifi, both plusses. But it does not have free breakfast, probably because the property does not have a breakfast room. They do serve free pastries from the bakery down the street each morning in the lobby, along with coffee drinks and tea. The rooms are just converted motel rooms, however they did a very good job with the modern decor and my room was very clean. No signs of mildew in the tub area at all for example, and the tub was nice and wide. There is a bit too much street noise at this hotel however the in wall air conditioning tends to be louder so it blocks that out. If you like to open your room window for fresh air, you may be disappointed with the amount of street noise that you hear. The heated outdoor swimming pool seems fairly small, but quite clean. I did not use it it but saw some other guests enjoying it. Note, that there are literally only 5 parking spaces in the front parking area of this hotel. Don't let that scare you because they have additional parking in the back. I generally prefer to get a front space however so I can see my car from my room. The office remains open and staffed 24 hours a day and the staff are quite friendly. For what you get, the price here may seem a bit high but that does help to keep out the 'riff raff' and don't forget that parking is included. Many of the other hotels in the area charge an additional fee for parking. read more

My husband and I are staying here for our honeymoon and so far it is fantastic! The customer service is on point, the room is so clean and cute! I love the pastries from Porto's too. It's been very centrally located for what we need. The parking is limited, but if you give them your key, they will move it every two hours for you. Again with the amazing service! The only complaint I have is that the water pressure is low in the shower, which stinks for people with thick hair. But it is such a small complaint that I'm leaving it at 5 stars read more

I could have given this place a 4 stars, but one experience just ruined it: The young guy who worked at the front desk this morning, his was nice enough to let me use the pool early, however, when he reminded me to try to keep quiet for the others (seriously, how noisy can one adult make when swimming alone? Seriously?). After an hour later when I tried to get a cup of tea from the lobby, he asked me if I left the towels there: "Seriously, are you going o leave rhe towels there?". Seriously, was that how you spoke to a hotel guest who just forgetting to bring back your towels? If you have noticed they were left there, could you just have one of your staff to collect them instead of making a fuss about it? Seriously! Even he said I did not have to fetch the towels but I did anyway, so he did not have to worry about getting his staff to do the job. I was supposed to grab a cup of tea on the go, forget it I thought. Seriously! There was another person standing there, imagine how embarrassing I felt, seriously, I was on a vacation and you have done a good job ruined it...over a couple of towels being left on in the pool area. Seriously! To the hotel manager, I strongly suggest you set up a bin at the pool for the guests to dump the used towels. I think having the guests to bring back the used towels to the lobby, their swim suits could be still wet then the water would be dripping all over the front entrance. Then you have to spend more labor to mop the floor. I now understand how others would given the low rating when being treated badly. My experiences have been good until this morning. Most of your staff are very helpful and very nice, except this one young guy who still has lots to learn. Seriously! By the way, thst guy started rude at the beginning, he gave me one towel, and I asked for one more because for the lounge chair, one on the seat and one over the top of the chair. I ended up booking this place after trying to figure out the best place to stay for our Hollywood Studios weekend. We got in really late and fortunately were able to find street parking. It does smell like citrus when you walk into the check in area. They have a small sampling of Porto's as breakfast snacks, but there are LOTS of amazing brunch options nearby (and within walking distance .2 miles or less). They also have a crazy coffee machine with lots of options. The hotel room itself was spacious enough and kept with the Tangerine theme. The bathrooms are tiny be forewarned! My only ding- I got some resistance in giving us a parking pass the next morning. It took some convincing that we did not receive a parking pass the night before...why would I lie..and if I was helping someone who came in really late (close to 12 AM) giving someone a parking passes when there were no spaces makes sense. With that said-- parking in the behind lot is a gift (there are very few spaces) but street parking for the most part is decent. I would give this place another go. read more

Stayed here again in August 2013, and was reminded that this is my favorite place to stay when I come to L.A. The price is always reasonable, given that the area is safe, the rooms are clean, it's centrally located to all the studios in the Burbank/Universal City area, there's free parking and wifi, and there's plenty of restaurants within walking distance, and even a Trader Joe's down the street. Keep in mind, it is a motel, and doesn't have a lot of the hotel-type amenities, so it's probably not the place you want to stay if you'll be spending a lot of time in your room or on the property. But it's got a nice small swimming pool area. The staff is always super-nice, and there's a cute little push-button espresso machine in the lobby that also serves chai lattes, hot chocolates, etc. that I love. For context of my review, I usually stay here solo or with one other traveler, around 2-4 days each trip while traveling for business. read more

I checked in here after checking out of another hotel that was dirty and had very poor customer service. I had a very stressful day and all I wanted was a long hot shower and to go to bed. I came and was met at the front desk by Eddy who helped things move along very smoothly. I went to my room and was welcomed by a cozy king bed and a very clean and very nice shower. It was just what I needed. In the morning, I enjoyed a chai tea latter (that was way better than expected), some pastries (from a super popular local place called Portos that always has a huge line) and more genuine hospitality from a man at the front desk named Walter. The cleaning staff were eager to meet my needs and I checked out well rested and ready to start my day. Also, I had left something in the room and they contacted me about it which I found very thoughtful. I would absolutely recommend this to anybody I know that will be in town and as far as I'm concerned it will be my first choice in the future. TIP: There's parking in the back. I wasn't aware and tried to squeeze in a spot in the front. read more

Service here sucks! Room 127 smells like an animal died, is RIGHT on the alleyway with car alarms going off all night and garbage trucks in the morning. Ice machine broken all weekend - 100 degrees outside. Its a renovated hotel so the minimal furnishings are clean and floors are stained concrete. Contemporary feel - but overpriced and Kamal/Mgr has NO hotel or hospitality experience. Very rude. Lacey is young and unprofessional - couldn't even answer questions about charges without getting her skirt in a knot. Didn't get my 10% for booking online and the 10% additional off Lacey promised due to the smell but not worth arguing about. Close by is Courtyard Marriott for $90 per night. CLEAN and professional. read more

PEOPLE Of COLOR BEWARE...This place is the worst! Bad management and really poor customer service. We visited with our family during the pandemic to use their swimming pool (which is TINY by the way) We told them that's why we were booking, we didn't stay and hardly used the room just wanted to get a break with a pool for the kids. We visited again on another day which was fine then we were approached by a lady Manager (wouldn't give her name) who said we have to leave because checkout was 10am (it was 11am we were already checked out just letting the kids have a last minute swim) she was very rude and just seemed to be in a bad mood or didn't like the fact that we were there laughing having fun with our children. the motel had very few guests and we said that we would gladly pay for an extra day just so we could continue using the pool. She happily accepted our money and we stayed until 4pm that day then left. We then made another reservation over the phone to use the pool again, my wife gave her name and they took the reservation. when we (me not my wife and btw we are a mixed race couple, my wife is white and I am brown) checked in I was told that we were banned from the motel. Now bear in mind that we had booked and visited on multiple occasions since the situation with the manager, sometimes was booked by our white friends. When I asked why we were banned they gave no reason. When I pushed back they said someone said we had violated their policy! What policy?! They simply refused us to book. They had no explanation of what policy we violated and could not answer when we asked them how come you have accepted the bookings from our white friends who are all in the same party. Bottom line, this place and their actions feel like racial discrimination. Will never visits or recommend this place. People of color beware! read more

Pretty nice hotel. Very clean and everything was smelling nice. The reason why I'm only giving them 3 stars is because I don't think is fair that I paid $190 and my mom did not sleep at all! Unfortunately, we were on the first floor, and the people from upstairs got here around 2am and the sealing was cracking sooooo much.. You can hear every little movement and it was extremely annoying, my mom wanted to leave across the street to the other hotel... If you ever go to Warner Bros, Universal Studios or just kicking it in the Hollywood scene and you're looking for somewhere clean, friendly, comfortable, affordable, cool, and just down right attractive...the Tangerine Hotel is the spot! It's walking distance from some nice and varied eateries and the atmosphere was great. Lobby's open 24/7 and you can get a free latte at 3:00am to keep you wide awake. It's contemporarily decorated with a style that is unique, but not over the top. Our room came with an ipod docking station, but our phones are not that smart yet and we just haven't gotten around to an ipod yet. The bathroom was kind of small for my taste, but the simplicity and style of it made up for it. The staff...outstanding! "Everyone" was helpful, friendly and attractive, inside and out! We left something in our room and they called us to tell us we left it! How cool is that! I've left stuff at supposidely nicer establishments and my stuff just found it's way into someone else's pocket I guess. If you're looking for something worth what you pay...Tangerine Hotel is it! Wow...not happy at all with my experience with this hotel. Booked a room for one night as a little get-away and did I make a mistake. Next time I will stay where I always do. The Tangerine Hotel really took me back to 1955 Mississippi. Booking the room was no problem. Checking-in and getting the keys also no problem. The throwback to 1955 Jim Crow came when it was time for me to check-out. I went to the front desk and announced I was checking out. The rep behind the desk said "okay, I just have to check the room for any damage." Really. I was taken aback and thought he was joking in a sick way. But no, I followed him back to my room where he went through the room thoroughly to look for "damages." I asked him what he thought he was going to find and if this was a normal process. He said he always does this to everyone. I told him not a problem; please finish with me so I can tell any and everyone I know the type of Jim Crow process he has for checking out of a hotel in Burbank, California. I thought long and hard about not posting this on Yelp because in all my years of being a road warrior for my job, this was the first time something so disgusting has ever happened to me. I travel all over the country and I typically stay with one hotel chain, but wanted to give a local hotel some business as I just needed to relax with my family. I love The Tangerine! The rooms are updated, spacious, and have awesome decor. You can tell that this hotel has been recently updated and that a lot of careful planning went into the design. It is super modern! There is a very limited amount of parking in front, so just pull around back. The blonde girl who checked us in (didn't get her name but she worked nights!) was super sweet. They have pastries from a local Cuban bakery for breakfast and I grabbed one each day, but we still had to head out for a full meal because hubs needs some protein in his life. A selection of breakfast sandwiches would take this place over the top. They have an awesome hot beverage maker in the lobby and the hot chocolate was awesome-and made with milk! We didn't get a chance to use the pool but we definitely will when we're back! There are plenty of awesome places to eat right down the block. We are annual pass holders at Universal, and an Uber ride to the park is about $5 from The Tangerine so we'll definitely be back! read more

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. We had originally booked a hotel closer to universal studios since that's the reason we were coming down. After reading sketchy yelp reviews on the place I became quite anxious about staying there, I came across the Tangerine Hotel and read way more pleasant reviews and decided to book the Tangerine and cancel my other reservations. SO glad I did this! We loved staying here. We don't mid walking so we trekked the 2 miles to Universal Studios and the 2 miles home each day. It was a nice walk, we ate at the delicious Mexican restaurant next door to the hotel since we felt we had walked plenty. There are a lot of cute places to eat nearby. The hotel staff was super friendly, we had no issues with them or our room. We would stay here again and again! read more

Great hotel, great deal. We stayed here after visiting Harry Potter World and it was just what we needed. After a long day of walking around the park, the bed and pillows were super comfortable. Love this place!! First time here and I'm already excited to come back someday! The facility is newly remodeled. The rooms are all non smoking and beautiful! Stayed in a room with a king size bed. The room is equipped with a flatscreen tv and mordern furniture. Everything is bright and fresh and the beds super comfy. This is a gem of a find. The location is great as it is near Universal Studios and other studios and Hollywood attractions. The rooms have been remodeled a year ago and have a chic, modern look with trendy colors and graphics. Each room has a custom mural wall so each room is unique. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Grohe bathroom fixtures and Caesarstone countertop are very nice touches. The towels were thick and soft, one of the better quality than most hotels. There is 24 hour staff and the lobby is also very welcoming and modern. I love the automatic coffee/latte/hot chocolate machine that is complimentary and available all day and night. Service is exceptional. The daily breakfast pastries were delicious and come from a local bakery. Between the complimentary pastries and chai lattes, I've got to do some serious working out when I return from vacation. One star is taken off for the parking. The front parking is very small and tight so it's better to park in the back. The parking in back is not that great but at least you can find parking. I was worried about security in the back lot, but the front desk said there are security cameras. Don't park next to the Mexican restaurant in back because the dumpster is very smelly. Across the street is a Subway, pizza restaurant, and Chipotle. Next door is a Mexican restaurant. We checked out the Mexican restaurant, but didn't eat there. It was dark inside and there was a drunk at the bar with foul mouth. We went instead to Chipotle which was opened late until 10 PM and was bright, inexpensive, and family friendly. read more

Decent place to stay while you explore Hollywood, very close to universal studios and just a few minutes away from the walk of stars, the hotel itself is fairly modern retro in and outside of the hotel, however for the price i paid per night ($180) I would expect a more comfortable mattress, they are too firm which cause a lot of tossing and turning for my whole group of 4, hard to sleep on and get comfortable, i would stay here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice, 3 stars. read more

I so wanted to like this place! My room was in a very tucked away corner with no natural sunlight at all. There was a back window looking directly onto the back parking lot. Place was booked solid so I put up with it. Not happy at all with the room I got stuck with even though I booked it two weeks ahead of time.
