I stayed here again during another short trip to Burbank. I was on one of the bottom floors and was completely shocked that there was no carpet! My friend and I were literally walking on cement! So weird and uncomfortable. Our room was located under the stairs so people and their luggage could he heard on a regular basis. I always sleep with earplugs so I was able to sleep like a baby. My friend on the other hand does not. As a result, she heard people going up and down the stairs all morning with their luggage as well as cars starting up. In addition, they were also doing renovations in the morning. Luckily, we got up early. However, I can see that being a problem for the other people. As I stated in my previous review, this place is nothing to get excited about. I think of it as a decent place to lay my head. I mean, I'm going there to check out the area, not spend time in a hotel. It's in a convenient location and it is way cheaper than other hotels in the area. I took more time to check out the surrounding area and there's a lot to offer. Several coffee places, restaurants, liquor store, and salon in walking distance. We also walked to WB studios which took about 5 minutes. It's only about 20 minutes away from Hollywood Boulevard. I mean, this place is totally convenient. I would stay there again but I would request to not be on the ground floor or near the stairs. read more

What a cute little place to stay! The room was super cozy, It was a bit small but decorated so well, very clean and everytime we would enter the smell of tangerines!! There is a heated pool outside, ill definitley go in next time...the bath tube in the room is huge, wish I had one like that in my house lol We really enjoyed our stay at The Tangerine, staff was very nice. There are tons of places within walking distance nearby to eat. One huge plus I would say would be parking. At first I was a bit worried I would have to street park but they have plenty of extra parking in the back area. The overall experience was pleasant and we'd definitley book again. I had a one night stay in LA and the Tangerine Hotel fit the bill as something clean, modern, and affordable! Think of it as a Motel 6 with a Glamor magazine makeover. Four stars for: - Convenience, it is a short car ride from everywhere I needed to be as well as walking distance to a few television studios (it was cool to see the WB studios (the home of Yakko, Wakko and Dot on my drive over there) - Comfort, my room was large with a modern trendy design and had all of the amenities I needed including a variety of Crabtree and Evelyn products - Friendly service, the person who checked us in was extremely nice and very helpful - Delicious breakfast pastries, I normally avoid hotel pastries like the plague but these were very good! The front desk person told us they were baked fresh daily by Rondo's Bakery. I deducted a star because the room was very noisy (especially in the morning) and towels were hard and flimsy. read more

Great three-night stay. Came back every afternoon to fresh towels and a made bed: a perk I did not get the previous three nights staying at a "higher-end" hotel. Staff was friendly and plenty of restaurants to walk to. The breakfast is extremely continental, but you're probably not staying here for the food. But they do have a nice coffee maker in the lobby. We've been going to every national park from N. Cali to S. Cali. Staying in numerous hotels like the Hilton, Ayres, Marriott and many others. On our day trip to Universal Studios (for the little one) we stayed at The Tangerine in Burbank. While it doesn't have the grandiose stature as some of the previously mentioned establishments. It makes up for it in customer service, room cleanliness and design, wonderful sheets and comfy beds, and the absolutely amazing complimentary pastries from Porto's bakery (baking gods). While the pool is on the small side, and so are the bathrooms. I would recommend this place to anyone tired of the towering multi-storied cookie cutter money machines, while looking for the same comfort of its bigger corporate cousins. read more

I chose this place for three nights as it was close to Universal Studios for a great price with free internet and parking! The room setup was great with very comfortable beds and great linens. The murals on the headboard side of the bed were amazing. The bathroom was adequate in size and came with a large deep tub which was appreciated. I think my gf and I had the best room in the entire place. Room 126. The room came with cement flooring which was welcomed during hot summer days and nights! Service was really good up until the very end. I wanted to pay with two separate cards, but was told that they had already run the charge because it needed to be done by a certain time. No big deal, but couldn't understand why he didn't offer to refund the first card and charge the other. The mural was very dusty like they haven't dusted it in a long time. Final Thoughts: Would have received 5 stars if not for the dust and service upon checkout. Oh and their heated pool was a pleasure to use! read more

Very pleased with our stay at The Tangerine! We booked one night there last night before a taping to WB and the place looks like on the pictures. The night auditor received us in a very friendly manner and gave us a later check-out. As their parking was full, she told us to park on the street and the morning staff would move our car and they did! It was a very nice touch of them. The rooms are very clean. It's basic but it has a cute design. The next morning we enjoyed the pastries they offered for breakfast and a nice coffee. We will definitely come back when we are going to Burbanks. read more

Staff were wonderful, always willing to help and provided great suggestions of places near by here and how to best get around this area. Totally disagree with some rude posts on yelp. I stayed here last year and it was very delightful. The rooms are motel like and smaller than a suites hotel but the price was smaller too. The bed was comfortable and quiet and the room clean. The staff was very friendly. The location is great, we walked to dinner and breakfast nearby and the area is nice. LOVED this place. It is a smaller hotel - which is perfect, it was nice and quiet. The room was sparkling clean, and so fun. Love the pops of tangerine orange everywhere. The staff was amazing, super friendly, helpful, and there 24/7! The pool was heated and it was a great way to end the night. It was very comfortable, we slept fantastic. Large room, very clean. Walking distance to many things, lots of places to eat, very safe area too. We stayed here for 2-3 nights for our LA trip and it was good. Small pool, free breakfast and coffee from Porto's, rooms were clean. Toiletries were decent. I had my doubts when my BF chose this place for the Universal Studios Hollywood part of our trip - I'm used to staying in hotels where you can't see the door to your room from the street! We got this room through the Universal Studios Hollywood site as a package deal (hotel and park tickets) for a pretty reasonable price and of course, I started reading Yelp reviews! So we checked in on a Friday night, the front parking lot was full, so we parked in the back lot and the front desk clerk was very nice. We were starving and she suggested two places - Mexican or Thai food ... we went with Thai, and it was good! I think we only had to cross one street to get there, so it was convenient. Our room was on the second floor, and I don't think there is an elevator, so be ready to lug your suitcases up the steps! Our room was a good size, with lots of shelving. I really appreciated the large vanity area OUTSIDE of the bathroom, so I could get ready in the morning there while my BF did his thing in the bathroom area. Another plus, was the built in shelving in the shower...hotel showers hardly have enough shelving space to store a girl's essentials, so I was happy with that! Although we had a car, we decided to Uber it to Universal Studios, which only came out to about $4 with Uber Pool...parking at the park would have been $18! We interacted with three different front desk people, and they were all nice and never seemed to hate their job. OMG there is a cool ass coffee machine and you can get pretty much any hot drink your heart desires! And free pastries every morning...we only woke up early enough to get them once during our stay, but that was a nice perk! There were a lot of cafes and restaurants in the area, and some grocery stores - so you can save some money and buy snacks and drinks instead of paying an arm and a leg in the parks! We arrived at The Tangerine late in the night after a very busy couple of days. Upon entry, we were greeted by a staff member who was extremely friendly despite the check-in occurring during the late hours of the night. They pointed us to our room and thoroughly explained the amenities with a cheerfulness that is often hard to come by with hotel staff these days. We travel in a fairly large vehicle and parking it at The Tangerine was no issue whatsoever. Plenty of space and lots of spots that were very close to our room. My friends also raved about the cleanliness of the pool after having a solid morning splash. I'm sure I would of agreed but I was so comfortable in those beds that I couldn't get up in time to go swimming with them! A good snooze and a great splash? My wife and I stayed here because we had tickets to see a taping of the 'Big Bang Theory' at the nearby Universal Studios (Bazinga!). I was a bit reluctant because it's a converted old-school motel, and I am not partial to either orange or tangerines. Not to mention traffic or smog. But I am very partial to Sheldon, and I had no choice. So, my spot abandoned, I proceeded to stock up on tissues and disinfectant (and that was just for SouthWest airlines). We found The Tangerine very close to Burbank Airport, which seems like it was used in the movie Casablanca (which we later learned had shots taken at Warner Bros. studios)... A quick rental car ride later, we arrived. It was 12:05 pm. The friendly hotel employee looked suspiciously like Ricky Ricardo. He smiled, looked down at his watch and said, "Hm. It's 12:05 pm. Check in is 1:00 pm." Panicked, I looked for my spot on the orange couch nearby... but could not find it. He then called someone on a radio (or was it a 1990s cell phone?), and Bazinga! they found a room for us. We climbed the stairs, and I noticed that strangely this retro 1950s property lacked an elevator. I quickly identified my emergency exits, and we entered our room. I believe it was 233 - a corner room. The room was - surprise - orange, and looked like it was from a much fancier hotel than a 1950s motel. I entered. I looked around: luxury. I exited. Closed the door. Looked around: 1950s Cuba-style motel. I re-entered: luxury. I exited: Cuba. I re-entered: luxury. My wife told me to stop. I pondered whether bed bugs might exist in this hotel, or whether we might have picked them up on SouthWest airlines as our carry-on snuggled next to that suspicious woman wearing slick black pants. No bed bugs, assured me, my wife. We unpacked. I noted that the WiFi was excellent (strange, I thought, for a 1950s motel to have WiFi - could it be original?). Left for the Big Bang theory taping... our GPS indicated it was an 8 minute walk: so we drove. We arrived and witnessed the performance. I waived at Sheldon. He did not wave back. I saw my spot. All was well with the world. We left and went to Bob's Big Burger (very near to The Tangerine) and I thought of Austin Powers... thinking that Bob's Big Burger had gone out of business, but really it had never left. "Where was Dr. Evil now?", I pondered. We returned to The Tangerine, slept (and perhaps did other sorts of adult behaviors - you'll never know), packed up and left. BE PREPARED FOR THEM TO THOROUGHLY INSPECT THE ROOM BEFORE YOU CHECK OUT! Totally strange. Not 1 but two people inspected my room during check out. I am not a criminal nor did I make enough noise to warrant a full pat down. I stayed in plenty of 5 * hotels and this was strange and intrusive. It's an overhauled motel 6 with a wood fence sculpture and a dumb orange accent wall that made me feel claustrophobic . NOT IMPRESSED. Also they charge a $250 deposit plus the cost of the room. High end actual hotels do not even do this. Waste of money. Especially since they don't even have a real parking lot. And "breakfast" consists of a few pastries if you get up in time from a Mexican joint down the street. read more

This not a HOTEL. This is a MOTEL. A hotel has room doors that open to a hallway, and they offer things like room service. A motel has doors that open to the outside of a building and they don't have things like room service. The fact that it's a motel shouldn't immediately scream "Dump" or "Trashy." The Tangerine [M]otel isn't either of those things. It's seated right at the border of Burbank and Toluca Lake. It's a trendy little part of town, with several great dining options in the immediate vicinity. The decor is modern-Ikea-ish. Our room was fun with artistic pieces of wood and a wall covered in multi-colored images. The lobby offers 24 hour coffee/tea choices, and a limited Porto's selection of pastries in the morning. The staff is courteous and friendly. They also offer a military discount (but you need to show your ID or DD-214). My only complaint is the bed. Hard like a rock. Uncomfortable. I woke up with such a back ache...ugh. I wouldn't mind staying there again if they upgraded their mattresses. Also, they offer free Wi-Fi, but for some reason on our stay, it wouldn't connect. read more

This is NOT a hotel! It's a renovated motel. I thought that for the price, name, and photos online that I was getting a swanky hotel. Not the case. When we pulled up to the motel, the tiny lot was full and we had to park on the street. The gentleman behind the counter offered parking in the back, but I've watched too many horror movies to park in a dark alley. I was under the impression that I had prepaid for the room online as I usually do. The gentleman told me in a very condescending manner that he has "never heard of that in his 4 years". Whatever. Then I was charged a $250 deposit for one night. $250?! Most high end hotels only charge up to $50. Again, whatever. The room was clean and tastefully decorated with Ikea furniture and some weird wood sculpture. Overall, our evening was satisfactory. Not worth the price I paid, but it was quiet and clean. When we went to check out, we were informed that the room needed to be inspected in order to release the deposits. Are we criminals? Two minutes after the employee was paged to check the room, the guy behind the counter was called over. He returns from checking the room and accuses us of smoking in the room. We explained that we had vaped and he proceeds to say that he will need to use heavy deodorizers because the smell was so bad. Regardless of your personal views on vaping, the smell and cloud dissipate within 5 minutes. It's not cigarette smoke and I have never had an issue with getting a deposit back. Then, to top it off, this guy tries to say we were smoking wax. We don't smoke weed. My boyfriend had to argue with the guy to get my deposit back. Needless to say, they were unprofessional, condescending, and overpriced. Never again. read more

My dad was visiting from back east and I work down the street. He surprised me with taking me to lunch and I said let's try Don Cucos, which is right next door to this hotel. The problem is, I broke my ankle and require a knee wheelchair to get around. And the restaurant does not have any parking, zilch, nada. So I thought to call The Tangerine and ask if we would be able to use their handicap spot for an hour. Without hesitation, the nice man at the front desk said yes. I will tell you that a bit of kindness goes a long way while you're disabled. You really see people's true colors when trying to get around every day. And this man made my day. We booked a room for this hotel through hotels.com for our friends visiting. We tried checking into the hotel around 2AM and the front desk told us they never received the reservation. Not only was the front desk person rude and unprofessional, they did not offer us any other alternatives. They refused to allow our friends to check into a room for the night and then work out the issue with hotels.com (a 3rd party with whom they have a relationship with). Our friends were left without a hotel room for the night. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE. For $200+ a night and the unprofessional staff we had to deal with, I would rather pay a little more and stay at the Amarano Hotel close by (and I regret not booking our stay there instead). read more

When I arrived 20 minutes later, I found the parking squished in the front and isolated in the back alley. Not for me. I then went inside and told the woman at the desk I would not be staying. It was now 2:30pm. The hotel was not full, but evidentially to make up for this, I was charged as a No Show. This was not like it was 8pm or I had reserved the room days in advance and actually didn't show. No, not at all. When an inquiry was launched, Kamal's response was that a 24 hrs cancellation notice was necessary for a refund. What??? Very conveniently located, clean rooms and friendly staff with a bonus of Porto's bakery yummies for breakfast. If you are looking for something not too pricey, this would be it. How can anyone go wrong? The only downfall is the limited hotel parking and the spaces were a little tight.
