We flew in from NJ to do a road trip throughout California, Arizona and Nevada. Our first stop was the Warner Bros Studio so I picked this hotel because of location and price. It had a motel vibe and it made me nervous, but most of the ratings were positive. I was pleasantly surprised with this place. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Light breakfast (pastries) in the lobby. Great location to studios and a lot of restaurants.

Update to my "Stay here you will love it" review is: my family went to stay at another hotel the night after. Halfway way through our evening my child was asking to go back and stay here instead. 10/10 hats. 4 gold stars. Child might be addicted to hot chocolate now but that's okay. ( Seriously, fancy machine and those cookies from the local places for breakfast, was one of my favorite parts. ) Thank you again.

We stayed here for 3 nights as the last leg of our LA trip last summer (July 2023) after staying at Disney Grand California Hotel for few nights for our Disneyland trip. We booked thru Expedia and it came out to be approximately $293 USD/night which is not bad at all for a hotel that is centrally located for visiting Universal Hollywood (10 minutes Uber ride) , Getty Centre (20 mins Uber Ride), Hall of fame (10 mins) etc. walking distance to nearby eatery. Hotel is well maintained, 2 queen beds, ample of counter space, an outdoor swimming pool. Also, free breakfast daily with delicious pastry made by HomeBoy Industries. Checked in was quick and easy. 1 hour from LAX airport. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend others and likely return for our future LA trip.

My mang and I had some business to do in this area. We know nothing about so ca. I made these middle of the week reservations on the fly, and I love this lil motel. I prefer this to a big place with elevators and hallways and tons of people coming and going. The folks at the front desk are there 24/7. The pool was great! I don't want to divulge too much because it is such a cozy lil secret. Mostly, I want to let the hotel know, thank you for having us, we will be there again

I had a brief stay in Burbank for work and decided to give The Tangerine a try. It's a retro style hotel with in-room art fixtures and a heated pool. I failed to bring a bathing suit. I booked a king room and was given the room in the very back of the hotel, next to the room service closet, with the window that faces the alleyway behind the hotel. I was only here for 1 night so I didn't make a fuss of the location of my room. However, it did get quite loud in the morning while room service was getting supplies. Nevertheless, I slept well at night. I do like that this hotel is located within walking distance of a variety of highly rated restaurants, bars and coffee shops. I'll be coming back on my next work trip to LA.

A slice of freshness in the city of Burbank bordering Toluca Lake... The Tangerine is ripe with charm, convenience and comfort. I checked in on Friday for my birthday in much need of a staycation and some exploring of one of my favorite LA/San Fernando Valley areas. I'd probably passed The Tangerine more times than I could count over the years and finally decided to try them out for myself and let me tell you... I was glad I did!! Check-In was as early as 1PM/2PM which is like the best thing ever and as late as 11 AM though I believe there is some flexibility to noon. Book direct with the hotel and save an instant 10% off your stay, but even booking with third party sites like Hotel.com you still can get a great price. They have great specials, but especially for a king size bed and four parking spots in the main entrance (which can be a tight squeeze when full) and additional parking in back through their alley which is monitored. When I finally checked in around 430ish PM probably a little closer to 5 I got the best welcome. Avery is/was amazing! Great customer service, smooth check in, great parking suggestions, local recommendation and overall invitingness... That's a word!! Aside from Avery I interacted with two other great people in the main lobby/reception area where you can also enjoy some continental treats (baked goods via Homeboy Bakery) in the AM from 7 to 11, hot coffee and whatevers playing on TV in their chic lounge. My room was on the 2nd floor which was more than ideal in getting a slightly better view of Riverside Drive. The TV, free wifi, plugs, huge table w/ giant cushioned chairs, clock radio + dock, mini fridge, coffee machine in room, safe, closet and dresser space were more than I expected and the vanity area became my mini bar for the night. Blackout curtains, AC and light dimmers for the main portion of the room gave me new life at night and especially in the morning... No brightness detected!! The shower was perfect and the water pressure was powerful... Maybe too powerful at one point lol (the sink mostly - some backsplash), but no complaints here. The bed was extra cozy and made for plenty of space for myself and my friend Mario who stayed over with me coming down from San Bernardino to hang and help me celebrate my birthday. I had a small handful of friends over and we had a great time, so grateful for everyone who came out to hang in Burbank and enjoy my little slice of safe space care for the night. Some of us got food late and had plenty of drinks as one should. Two of my pals had stayed here in the past and even recommended The Tangerine to me as well as their families and friends over the years. I'm glad I listened! The "Rine" I believe has been in business since 2005 where it was renovated into a boutique style inn/hotel. Tangerine has several vending machines (mostly in or near the pool area and one beverage machine directly outside the lobby across from a well placed water fountain) near staircases. Great photo opportunities all over the place! Unfortunately the pool hadn't been heated so I didn't opt in for a dip, but next time for sure since it can be heated! Close to Bob's Big Boy, Jinya Ramen, Red Maple Cafe, Something Vegan, Don Cuco (get 20% off gift card with stay), Forman's Whiskey Tavern and a long list of both local small mom & pop and cool chain eateries not mention near all the major banks, Trader Joe's heading west, Whole Foods going east, and Vons or even Smart & Final Northbound. CVS and tons of supply & personal care stores nearby... All drivable and some even very walkable. A few transits/Metro buses do run alongside Riverside for some green sightseeing fun. You can catch tapings, tours plus more at the Warner Brother Lot... Short trip over to Universal Studios as well. My friend Mario actually caught the LA Metro Bus 155 over from there which stops across the street. Basically a five star place + stay in so many ways... But that ONE ice machine ALL the way over by and actually in the pool area... At night in December when the valley drops to 40s... O.O... Gonna need ice access on the 2nd floor please or at least on the front side near the main staircase/vending machine... please and thank you! Overall I can't recommend enough or say better things about all the staff! Future staycations for myself for sure as well as suggestions for people visiting from out of town.

We had a staycation in Burbank recently. Needing a place to stay, I saw I bookmarked The Tangerine a while ago and so we decided to give them a shot. It's nicely located near Warner Bros. and is a short drive to Universal Studios for any tourists into that. There are also plenty of restaurants within walking distance if you don't want to venture too far. The Tangerine stands out with lots of orange everywhere. There's a small parking lot in front - 4 tight spots plus 1 handicapped space. Upon check-in you receive a parking permit to hang from your rearview mirror for when you park in front or in the alley out back. We stayed in room 120 which turned out to be convenient as its right next to the rear parking. Definitely don't plan on going out too late - we considered going out for dinner but all the parking spots were taken already. We didn't want to risk losing our spot so we just walked next door. We had a King room that has a big mural behind the bed. There's a table by the window and AC (which is on the loud side), the TV has basic cable, and there's some wood in the corner (art?). There's also a mini-fridge and a bottle opener for drinks. The bathroom is on the small side but has a surprisingly deep bathtub. The staff was friendly and professional but all the little things started to add up quickly making for a so-so experience. After check-in our room key wouldn't work. The woman at the front desk came out and showed that you have to pull the door towards you when you insert the key or the key won't work. Whenever we stay anywhere, we always bring disinfectant wipes to make sure our room is clean. Unfortunately our room wasn't clean as there was gunk/dirt on the switches and handles. We also found two stains in our sheets when we inspected the bed (always gross). We called the front and they replaced the sheets for us (after they asked if we needed help to change the sheets, like we were expected to do it ourselves which was weird). The bathroom door didn't close all the way (even after supposedly locking it) so it'll stay cracked open unless you prop the trash can against the door. The toilet ran for a long time after flushing it at night. It went away after jiggling the handle - hard to rest when you think the bathroom is going to flood. There was also a noticeable crack in the bathroom ceiling, as if something heavy fell in the room directly above. The bed is squeaky and the walls are kind of thin (bring headphones). At first I was glad we got a room right next to where we parked but I regretted it soon after. Since its right next to the back lot, we could loudly hear every time someone left/entered. Some people decided standing by our window in the middle of the night was a good place to catch up and socialize. And we couldn't help but listen to everyone else struggling to enter their rooms - of course jiggling/pounding on doors in the dead of night also doesn't make for peaceful sleeping (nothing like what sounds like your room being invaded to give you sweet dreams). The Tangerine is disappointing but we've stayed in worse places. Major points lost for lack of cleanliness (especially during a pandemic). Also, interesting choice in having an out of place chest of drawers directly next to the bathroom. It looks like something picked up from IKEA or Target and doesn't fit the room at all. The placement right next to the bathroom is not the smartest as I'm sure people bump into it all the time. Maybe also ditch the pointless wood on display. Finally, The Tangerine is a motel not a hotel so adjust your expectations accordingly.

This is a really cute motel/hotel. It looks like a motel but the rooms are pretty nice. I'd say it's no frills. It's clean. There's an outdoor pool and there's complimentary breakfast pastries from Porto's that are SO good. We could walk to a lot of restaurants; it's in a good location, safe neighborhood. We could also walk to the Warner Bros Ranch which is where we needed to be that day. I really liked it and would stay here again for sure!

My kids and I stayed here for a trip to Universal Studios Hollywood. It was very close and convenient. The room was small but clean. We had no microwave but a small coffeemaker. The rooms were brightly painted with orange doors/counters and there was a pretty mural on the wall. The room had lots of counter space, a large vanity mirror, a cute little 4 drawer chest and ample closet with ironing board. The bathrooms had sustainable shampoo and lotions which is great. I wish more hotels did this. The noise from the freeway can be heard but it sounded like it was raining outside. The sunlight was peeking through the sides of the curtains so it was quite bright in the morning. The parking lot in front is very small as there were only 4 spots plus handicap but there is more parking around back with video surveillance. There is a pool, but during our visit it was under construction. Everyone we spoke with at the front desk was very friendly and the amenities in the lobby are great. The coffee machine is a definite must try. They also had water machine and microwave for guests. In the morning, they also had complimentary pastries. The kids talked about the next time they stay there. So it was a win. Definitely worth a stay.

Great three-night stay. Came back every afternoon to fresh towels and a made bed: a perk I did not get the previous three nights staying at a "higher-end" hotel. Staff was friendly and plenty of restaurants to walk to. The breakfast is extremely continental, but you're probably not staying here for the food. But they do have a nice coffee maker in the lobby. Super quiet as well. read more

It is a new year 2021, it has been a tough year for many, so many have passed,lost love ones, lost their business, and living in fear.. Sometimes just getting away for a few nights is very comforting, The Tangerine has been a home away from home, over the last year, my wife and I have come to The Tangerine to just relax, and forget for a while.. walking into the lobby we are always greeted by Walter, who was a total stranger before our first visit, Walter is a wonderful soul, he is also the manager at The Tangerine, and now our friend.. Thank you Walter, and everyone else, Kamal, Jonathan and housekeeping.. for keeping us safe and more than comfortable.. I recommend this place without hesitation, for those coming from afar or those who just want to relax and forget... read more

Stayed for 7 nights in February, 2011. Check-in was extremely easy, as I went through their website (which also had better rates than on travel sites, so check there first). The Manager charged me fully to my card at time of arrival, and there was no check-out necessary as it was done online. I stayed in room 232, which is a king room. The room was spacious enough, and came equipped with a fairly large closet which had multiple hangers, a warm blanket, a fold out luggage rack that came in handy, a dorm-sized refrigerator, small coffee maker, blow dryer, a Sony DreamMachine alarm clock, telephone, and a Sharp HD TV (I believe it was a 32"). There is a nice size able area between the main room and the bathroom which has a large mirror and a wraparound shelf/table that holds the coffee maker, the refrigerator also sits underneath here. The bathroom is admittedly small, but the sink is new and was clean. The toilet sits a little low to the ground, so if you're north of 5'9'' you'll feel a little odd doing your business, feeling more like you're in time out. The shower was surprisingly squeaky clean, and had good pressure, and thankfully the nozzle wasn't loose, so wherever you aimed it, it stayed put. There are multiple ledges to place your shampoo and body wash, so if you're traveling with more than one person it definitely won't feel cramped with all your stuff in the shower. The 32" Sharp HD TV had a good crisp picture, but non-Angelinos would benefit from a card with what stations are on a specific channels, it took me forever to find TNT to watch a Lakers game. The free WiFi is actually amazingly good here, I was able to stream YouTube videos on my iPad with no lag and it was very responsive - I imagine this is partly due to the fact that the Tangerine has a limited number of rooms and multiple access points - you can't get this type of speed at a Hampton Inn, that's for sure. The seating area consists of a small table and two chairs, the table being big enough to eat a small meal here with a companion without feeling cramped. Apparently some rooms have a non-carpeted floor, but room 232 had carpet, although it was rough, and felt cheap - the kind you'd find in a classroom or mobile home - it never bothered my feet and I don't think it's something you should worry about (unless you demand a 5-star experience, but then you're not even reading this, you're over at the Sheraton paying +$200.00 a night to have your feetsies tickled with fluffy carpet) - I imagine it has to do with the fact that they want to keep it clean and if need be they can just rip it out and replace it instead of jacking up the price of rooms for high end carpet that'll get soiled by some fool who drops his Diet Coke repeatedly. The pool is heated, my girlfriend said it was great to swim in. The deepest point is 8-feet. There are two tables with multiple chairs and a few lounge chairs to lay back in and get some sun. The pool is walled off from Riverside drive but has a glass wall towards the parking area at the front. Privacy was decent, you won't feel on display to Burbank when you relax. There are two drink machines on property, one in front of the main office and one at the pool. They offer Coke products but I can't tell you how much they were, as I went to the Studio City Ralphs, signed up for a Ralphs card (free) and bought a 12-pack of Pepsi and a 24-pack of Ralphs water all for $8.00, filling up the in-room fridge, that lasted the entire week. I highly recommend you do this if you're staying more than a day or two, total money saver. Parking was never an issue, there are about 4 spaces in front as well as a handicapped spot, but in the rear there are more than 10 spots. Coming home late at night I never had a problem finding a spot to park in. Lastly, location, location, location. You absolutely can't beat this area. We frequently walked to dinner, Bob's Big Boy, several small diners, sushi, Italian, and Mexican are just a few of the options, as well as multiple coffee shops line Riverside drive. Freeway access is great, the 134 on-ramp is literally right around the corner, or you can head south to the 101, but you're not more than 5 minutes away from access. Also, if you plan on doing the Warner Bros. tour, the walk is short and you can save $7.00 by not having to park with them. All-in-all, a wonderful stay. Great room, great amenities, and an awesome price that simply can't be beat in the Burbank / Universal City area. I will definitely be back. read more

What a cute little place to stay! The room was super cozy, It was a bit small but decorated so well, very clean and everytime we would enter the smell of tangerines!! There is a heated pool outside, ill definitley go in next time...the bath tube in the room is huge, wish I had one like that in my house lol We really enjoyed our stay at The Tangerine, staff was very nice. There are tons of places within walking distance nearby to eat. One huge plus I would say would be parking. At first I was a bit worried I would have to street park but they have plenty of extra parking in the back area. The overall experience was pleasant and we'd definitley book again. Only down fall I guess would be that there wasnt a microwave in our room. But there is one in the lobby that is open 24 hrs so I guess that isnt really a big deal. Great place! read more

I stayed here again during another short trip to Burbank. I was on one of the bottom floors and was completely shocked that there was no carpet! My friend and I were literally walking on cement! So weird and uncomfortable. Our room was located under the stairs so people and their luggage could he heard on a regular basis. I always sleep with earplugs so I was able to sleep like a baby. My friend on the other hand does not. As a result, she heard people going up and down the stairs all morning with their luggage as well as cars starting up. In addition, they were also doing renovations in the morning. Luckily, we got up early. However, I can see that being a problem for the other people. As I stated in my previous review, this place is nothing to get excited about. I think of it as a decent place to lay my head. I mean, I'm going there to check out the area, not spend time in a hotel. It's in a convenient location and it is way cheaper than other hotels in the area. I took more time to check out the surrounding area and there's a lot to offer. Several coffee places, restaurants, liquor store, and salon in walking distance. We also walked to WB studios which took about 5 minutes. It's only about 20 minutes away from Hollywood Boulevard. I mean, this place is totally convenient. I would stay there again but I would request to not be on the ground floor or near the stairs. read more

I stayed here 2 nights to visit universal studios and I would definitely recommend. It is a cute and quaint motel. Very friendly staff, clean, and comfortable. My family and I also enjoyed the pool. I had a one night stay in LA and the Tangerine Hotel fit the bill as something clean, modern, and affordable! Think of it as a Motel 6 with a Glamor magazine makeover. Four stars for: - Convenience, it is a short car ride from everywhere I needed to be as well as walking distance to a few television studios (it was cool to see the WB studios (the home of Yakko, Wakko and Dot on my drive over there) - Comfort, my room was large with a modern trendy design and had all of the amenities I needed including a variety of Crabtree and Evelyn products - Friendly service, the person who checked us in was extremely nice and very helpful - Delicious breakfast pastries, I normally avoid hotel pastries like the plague but these were very good! The front desk person told us they were baked fresh daily by Rondo's Bakery. I deducted a star because the room was very noisy (especially in the morning) and towels were hard and flimsy. read more

Very, very nice and cool for a smaller hotel. It has the quality and amenities of a good name brand hotel but retains that classic chic motel charm. Lots of character and freshly renovated. Friendly staff. There are a lot of restaurants nearby and the view is nice. Free pastries for breakfast and a heated pool. A great place to stay in Burbank!!! read more

I loved my stay here!! So clean.. I loved the little touches I loved the bright decor and the smell of tangerines in the lobby! I loved that I was so close to my destinations (Universal) and yummy food! Don Cucos, The Romano, Porto's...not too mention they serve Porto's in the lobby!!! So good! I am glad we chose this hotel!!!! My family (Husband, 2 kids) and I stayed here during our vacation to Universal. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to many restaurants and cafes to choose from including, Bob's Big Boys, Los Amigos Mexican (definitely recommend), Reno's Pizzeria & Restaurant (another recommendation) & more!! Right next door is another mexican restaurant as well that we did not try. Los Amigos was the longest walk (about 20 minutes) but it was so good and we enjoyed the walk. This hotel has one of the VERY FEW beds I can actually sleep through the first night. Any other hotel I go, I have a very hard time adjusting to the bed the first night and I never sleep through the night until the 2nd or 3rd night. The room in itself was nice, clean and updated. The drive to Universal was only a short 15 minutes. Warner Brothers is within walking distance, which we may do next time we are in town. They serve pastries in the morning which were pretty good and have a machine that serves a variety of coffee and hot chocolate, which tasted pretty darn good. Don't get discouraged if you see the box of pastries running low, they will replenish; they bring out 1 box at a time. We also went in the pool which is also kept up and clean. Overall, we had a very nice experience and will definitely stay there again next time around. read more

We've been going to every national park from N. Cali to S. Cali. Staying in numerous hotels like the Hilton, Ayres, Marriott and many others. On our day trip to Universal Studios (for the little one) we stayed at The Tangerine in Burbank. While it doesn't have the grandiose stature as some of the previously mentioned establishments. It makes up for it in customer service, room cleanliness and design, wonderful sheets and comfy beds, and the absolutely amazing complimentary pastries from Porto's bakery (baking gods). While the pool is on the small side, and so are the bathrooms. I would recommend this place to anyone tired of the towering multi-storied cookie cutter money machines, while looking for the same comfort of its bigger corporate cousins. read more

Stayed at the Tangerine for two nights on a business trip, as my client recommended it. For the price, this is a very good value. Location is excellent. Close to Universal Studios and Disney. Many places to eat, within walking distance. Safe neighborhood. Room extremely clean and well maintained. Quirky decor. Free wifi and free breakfast. Friendly and helpful front desk staff. Plenty of free parking. A couple of things to consider. If you are mobility impaired, ask for a room on the first floor, as there is no elevator. Also, this is a motel, not a hotel. Not a big deal, but don't be surprised. Overall, I recommend it and will stay there again. read more

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Tangerine, and I would highly recommend it. The decor is super cute, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Plus, the pool is heated to a nice 89 degrees! There is amble, close parking (I was able to park right outside my room my entire stay - perfect for unloading all of my suitcases). And there are many restaurants within walking distance. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly, and they provided many recommendations for things to do/places to see. If you find yourself in Burbank, I would definitely check out this cute and clean property! read more

Very pleased with our stay at The Tangerine! We booked one night there last night before a taping to WB and the place looks like on the pictures. The night auditor received us in a very friendly manner and gave us a later check-out. As their parking was full, she told us to park on the street and the morning staff would move our car and they did! It was a very nice touch of them. The rooms are very clean. It's basic but it has a cute design. The next morning we enjoyed the pastries they offered for breakfast and a nice coffee. We will definitely come back when we are going to Burbanks. read more

I chose this place for three nights as it was close to Universal Studios for a great price with free internet and parking! The room setup was great with very comfortable beds and great linens. The murals on the headboard side of the bed were amazing. The bathroom was adequate in size and came with a large deep tub which was appreciated. I think my gf and I had the best room in the entire place. Room 126. The room came with cement flooring which was welcomed during hot summer days and nights! Service was really good up until the very end. I wanted to pay with two separate cards, but was told that they had already run the charge because it needed to be done by a certain time. No big deal, but couldn't understand why he didn't offer to refund the first card and charge the other. The mural was very dusty like they haven't dusted it in a long time. Final Thoughts: Would have received 5 stars if not for the dust and service upon checkout. Oh and their heated pool was a pleasure to use! read more

What a fun experience it was staying at The Tengarine. This place is unique, unlike other chained hotels. The room had a fun mural, clean, with comfy bed. Staff were wonderful, always willing to help and provided great suggestions of places near by here and how to best get around this area. Breakfast pastries were delicious with a cup of coffee, hot cocoa or tea. If I have a chance, will definately come back here again. read more

This review is for the front desk staff. I got a flat tire this week behind the Tangerine, and the front desk staff (Walter and another very kind man) helped me through the whole process to call AAA, get tow truck, find tire shop etc. They were beyond lovely during a really stressful time. And lobby was super clean. Would stay here if I didn't live in the area! :) read more

Totally disagree with some rude posts on yelp. I stayed here last year and it was very delightful. The rooms are motel like and smaller than a suites hotel but the price was smaller too. The bed was comfortable and quiet and the room clean. The staff was very friendly. The location is great, we walked to dinner and breakfast nearby and the area is nice. We had a short drive with zero traffic to WB studios and to Universal. I will stay here again when I am back in the area. read more

LOVED this place. It is a smaller hotel - which is perfect, it was nice and quiet. The room was sparkling clean, and so fun. Love the pops of tangerine orange everywhere. The staff was amazing, super friendly, helpful, and there 24/7! The pool was heated and it was a great way to end the night. It was very comfortable, we slept fantastic. Large room, very clean. Walking distance to many things, lots of places to eat, very safe area too. Delicious pastries offered in the morning from a local pastry shop - we didn't go to get some until 10:30am (available 7:30 - 11 i believe) and there was plenty of delicious options left - it was a really nice little cherry on top of a great stay at a fabulous little hotel! read more

WOW!! What a surprise!!! COME HERE!!! This is a hidden gem for sure. I usually stay marriot but never again- this is the best! They got me in a great room and treated me like a king. We stayed here for 2-3 nights for our LA trip and it was good. Small pool, free breakfast and coffee from Porto's, rooms were clean. Toiletries were decent. The only thing I didn't like about the place was parking. Really tight and really hard to find!! It's really close restaurants and stores, also super close to Universal Studios. read more

I had my doubts when my BF chose this place for the Universal Studios Hollywood part of our trip - I'm used to staying in hotels where you can't see the door to your room from the street! We got this room through the Universal Studios Hollywood site as a package deal (hotel and park tickets) for a pretty reasonable price and of course, I started reading Yelp reviews! So we checked in on a Friday night, the front parking lot was full, so we parked in the back lot and the front desk clerk was very nice. We were starving and she suggested two places - Mexican or Thai food ... we went with Thai, and it was good! I think we only had to cross one street to get there, so it was convenient. Our room was on the second floor, and I don't think there is an elevator, so be ready to lug your suitcases up the steps! Our room was a good size, with lots of shelving. I really appreciated the large vanity area OUTSIDE of the bathroom, so I could get ready in the morning there while my BF did his thing in the bathroom area. Another plus, was the built in shelving in the shower...hotel showers hardly have enough shelving space to store a girl's essentials, so I was happy with that! Although we had a car, we decided to Uber it to Universal Studios, which only came out to about $4 with Uber Pool...parking at the park would have been $18! We interacted with three different front desk people, and they were all nice and never seemed to hate their job. OMG there is a cool ass coffee machine and you can get pretty much any hot drink your heart desires! And free pastries every morning...we only woke up early enough to get them once during our stay, but that was a nice perk! There were a lot of cafes and restaurants in the area, and some grocery stores - so you can save some money and buy snacks and drinks instead of paying an arm and a leg in the parks! When we go back to Universal Studios, I would totally stay here again! read more

My daughter and her fiancé stayed here for 5 days as a gift from us for graduation. Two days in, they came back to the room and noticed their belongings had been moved around, their dirty clothes they took off and placed on the floor were folded and put back inside their suitcases, but the bed was not made. Even after having the door hanger on do not disturb. Upon looking further, she realized her brand new kindle fire was missing from the nightstand. She immediately notified management. They indicated they "spoke with housekeeping" and housekeeping lied about what they even did while in the room, and where they placed their belongings, and admitted to actually seeing the kindle. After SEVERAL attempts and SEVERAL days later of talking with them, Manager said he would call me within 24 hrs. And I had to call back twice over the course of several days. The owner advised Management he would not be refunding her for the missing kindle. I will not be recommending this place to ANY of my friends and family that visit frequently to the area. My daughter is fresh out of college, the most honest, had working young lady and this situation has been really unfortunate. It's a shame they didn't make this right. read more

We arrived at The Tangerine late in the night after a very busy couple of days. Upon entry, we were greeted by a staff member who was extremely friendly despite the check-in occurring during the late hours of the night. They pointed us to our room and thoroughly explained the amenities with a cheerfulness that is often hard to come by with hotel staff these days. We travel in a fairly large vehicle and parking it at The Tangerine was no issue whatsoever. Plenty of space and lots of spots that were very close to our room. My friends also raved about the cleanliness of the pool after having a solid morning splash. I'm sure I would of agreed but I was so comfortable in those beds that I couldn't get up in time to go swimming with them! A good snooze and a great splash? What more could you ask for in good old Los Angeles, CA. read more

This place is a find! I came for work in the area and really appreciated the clean, cozy, & chic little room, the proximity to some delicious and super close options for dinner after a long day, and the little touches like the amazing pastries offered for breakfast and the ample parking. I don't normally go for the motel-style lodging, but I felt perfectly safe and comfortable here. read more

We travel a lot! We have stayed in hotels and apartments all over the world. While the Tangerine is not an upscale mega-hotel ala Four Seasons, meaning it doesn't have a restaurant, bar, night club, etc., it is quite possibly the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The refurbished Route 66-type motel has rooms that are spacious, comfortable, clean, and decorated so you smile every time you come in the door. The toiletries provided in the room were fabulous, and we had a refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer, etc., etc., etc. The staff at the front desk could not have been nicer nor more accommodating - that goes for the maids, as well. Location is fantastic. As far as I'm concerned, there's no place else to stay when you go to Burbank. read more

My wife and I stayed here because we had tickets to see a taping of the 'Big Bang Theory' at the nearby Universal Studios (Bazinga!). I was a bit reluctant because it's a converted old-school motel, and I am not partial to either orange or tangerines. Not to mention traffic or smog. But I am very partial to Sheldon, and I had no choice. So, my spot abandoned, I proceeded to stock up on tissues and disinfectant (and that was just for SouthWest airlines). We found The Tangerine very close to Burbank Airport, which seems like it was used in the movie Casablanca (which we later learned had shots taken at Warner Bros. studios)... A quick rental car ride later, we arrived. It was 12:05 pm. The friendly hotel employee looked suspiciously like Ricky Ricardo. He smiled, looked down at his watch and said, "Hm. It's 12:05 pm. Check in is 1:00 pm." Panicked, I looked for my spot on the orange couch nearby... but could not find it. He then called someone on a radio (or was it a 1990s cell phone?), and Bazinga! they found a room for us. We climbed the stairs, and I noticed that strangely this retro 1950s property lacked an elevator. I quickly identified my emergency exits, and we entered our room. I believe it was 233 - a corner room. The room was - surprise - orange, and looked like it was from a much fancier hotel than a 1950s motel. I entered. I looked around: luxury. I exited. Closed the door. Looked around: 1950s Cuba-style motel. I re-entered: luxury. I exited: Cuba. I re-entered: luxury. My wife told me to stop. I pondered whether bed bugs might exist in this hotel, or whether we might have picked them up on SouthWest airlines as our carry-on snuggled next to that suspicious woman wearing slick black pants. No bed bugs, assured me, my wife. We unpacked. I noted that the WiFi was excellent (strange, I thought, for a 1950s motel to have WiFi - could it be original?). Left for the Big Bang theory taping... our GPS indicated it was an 8 minute walk: so we drove. We arrived and witnessed the performance. I waived at Sheldon. He did not wave back. I saw my spot. All was well with the world. We left and went to Bob's Big Burger (very near to The Tangerine) and I thought of Austin Powers... thinking that Bob's Big Burger had gone out of business, but really it had never left. "Where was Dr. Evil now?", I pondered. We returned to The Tangerine, slept (and perhaps did other sorts of adult behaviors - you'll never know), packed up and left. Thank you, Tangerine, for a wonderful hotel experience in Burbank, California. Here's lookin' at you, kid. read more

BE PREPARED FOR THEM TO THOROUGHLY INSPECT THE ROOM BEFORE YOU CHECK OUT! Totally strange. Not 1 but two people inspected my room during check out. I am not a criminal nor did I make enough noise to warrant a full pat down. I stayed in plenty of 5 * hotels and this was strange and intrusive. It's an overhauled motel 6 with a wood fence sculpture and a dumb orange accent wall that made me feel claustrophobic . NOT IMPRESSED. Also they charge a $250 deposit plus the cost of the room. High end actual hotels do not even do this. Waste of money. Especially since they don't even have a real parking lot. And "breakfast" consists of a few pastries if you get up in time from a Mexican joint down the street. read more

This not a HOTEL. This is a MOTEL. A hotel has room doors that open to a hallway, and they offer things like room service. A motel has doors that open to the outside of a building and they don't have things like room service. The fact that it's a motel shouldn't immediately scream "Dump" or "Trashy." The Tangerine [M]otel isn't either of those things. It's seated right at the border of Burbank and Toluca Lake. It's a trendy little part of town, with several great dining options in the immediate vicinity. The decor is modern-Ikea-ish. Our room was fun with artistic pieces of wood and a wall covered in multi-colored images. The lobby offers 24 hour coffee/tea choices, and a limited Porto's selection of pastries in the morning. The staff is courteous and friendly. They also offer a military discount (but you need to show your ID or DD-214). My only complaint is the bed. Hard like a rock. Uncomfortable. I woke up with such a back ache...ugh. I wouldn't mind staying there again if they upgraded their mattresses. Also, they offer free Wi-Fi, but for some reason on our stay, it wouldn't connect. read more

My dad was visiting from back east and I work down the street. He surprised me with taking me to lunch and I said let's try Don Cucos, which is right next door to this hotel. The problem is, I broke my ankle and require a knee wheelchair to get around. And the restaurant does not have any parking, zilch, nada. So I thought to call The Tangerine and ask if we would be able to use their handicap spot for an hour. Without hesitation, the nice man at the front desk said yes. I will tell you that a bit of kindness goes a long way while you're disabled. You really see people's true colors when trying to get around every day. And this man made my day. So no, I did not stay over night but if they have a kind soul like that working I can guarantee you'll have amazing customer service. Thank you Tangerine! read more

This is NOT a hotel! It's a renovated motel. I thought that for the price, name, and photos online that I was getting a swanky hotel. Not the case. When we pulled up to the motel, the tiny lot was full and we had to park on the street. The gentleman behind the counter offered parking in the back, but I've watched too many horror movies to park in a dark alley. I was under the impression that I had prepaid for the room online as I usually do. The gentleman told me in a very condescending manner that he has "never heard of that in his 4 years". Whatever. Then I was charged a $250 deposit for one night. $250?! Most high end hotels only charge up to $50. Again, whatever. The room was clean and tastefully decorated with Ikea furniture and some weird wood sculpture. Overall, our evening was satisfactory. Not worth the price I paid, but it was quiet and clean. When we went to check out, we were informed that the room needed to be inspected in order to release the deposits. Are we criminals? Two minutes after the employee was paged to check the room, the guy behind the counter was called over. He returns from checking the room and accuses us of smoking in the room. We explained that we had vaped and he proceeds to say that he will need to use heavy deodorizers because the smell was so bad. Regardless of your personal views on vaping, the smell and cloud dissipate within 5 minutes. It's not cigarette smoke and I have never had an issue with getting a deposit back. Then, to top it off, this guy tries to say we were smoking wax. We don't smoke weed. My boyfriend had to argue with the guy to get my deposit back. Needless to say, they were unprofessional, condescending, and overpriced. Never again. read more

We booked a room for this hotel through hotels.com for our friends visiting. We tried checking into the hotel around 2AM and the front desk told us they never received the reservation. Not only was the front desk person rude and unprofessional, they did not offer us any other alternatives. They refused to allow our friends to check into a room for the night and then work out the issue with hotels.com (a 3rd party with whom they have a relationship with). Our friends were left without a hotel room for the night. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE. For $200+ a night and the unprofessional staff we had to deal with, I would rather pay a little more and stay at the Amarano Hotel close by (and I regret not booking our stay there instead). read more

After today's experience, which was the complete opposite of hospitality, we will no longer be staying with SpringHill Marriot on San Fernando Blvd. in Burbank. Has hospitality in the hospitality industry ended or something? Since when do we make hotel guests (who like to tip) hunt down and fetch their own luggage cart without offering assistance, let alone help locating cart? The guest, who is arthritic, called to ask for a luggage cart to her hotel room, was told to go find a cart no one was available to bring a luggage cart to her room. The guest just wanted to be able to check out & felt embarrassed trying to locate a luggage while hotel employees watched on and did not offer help. The woman Cara at the front desk could not be bothered to help either. I will Also mention that when we booked this reservation,,whoever took the information down on the hotels end did not properly enter the reservation into the hotel system. So our guests Check in ALSO did not go smoothly. We had to get that fixed as well. More time wasted. I rarely write a bad review on Yelp but I strongly feel it is necessary this time. Very unfortunate experience today at your not very hospitable hotel.

We checked in and went up to our assigned room on the 3rd floor... only to find that someone was already inside the room. Let that sink in. We literally opened the door and found another guest already occupying it. That is not just unacceptable -- it is a serious safety issue. We went back downstairs, shocked and frustrated. While we were standing there waiting, the front desk guy was checking in another guest and was extremely friendly to her, smiling and handing her a bag of goodies -- while completely ignoring us, even though we were clearly waiting and had just reported a major issue. Then another staff member came over -- rude, cold, and with zero apology -- and simply clicked around on the computer and handed us a new room key like we were the problem. The replacement room was facing the freeway, and the noise was unbearable. We could not sleep at all. Between the dangerous room assignment, the complete lack of professionalism, and the blatant discriminatory behavior, this hotel deserves zero stars. I have stayed in many hotels -- this was by far the most disrespectful and disturbing experience. Avoid this place.

He didn't introduce himself or ask my name; I introduced myself and asked his name after check-in, and he warmed up a bit. It felt like I'd caught him doing something wrong or arrived before he was ready. I had to ask multiple questions because he didn't offer information or engage. My customer service was on point--his, not so much. I'd been driving all day and was exhausted, wearing very casual clothes, but he felt very judgey. I asked to see the rooms after reading reviews. The first was rundown and not worth the $150 he quoted. He kept going into the back office between questions, implying he was busy or nearly full (there was only one car outside). When I asked to see the other side of the hotel, which had allegedly been updated, he bragged about being fully booked, though I only ever saw three cars. Odd. The second room was just okay, but I was too tired to find another hotel, so I stayed one night. Few things frustrate me more than visible neglect and lack of detail. There were drywall screw heads popping out, scuffed walls, holes, and water-damaged bathroom drywall from a poorly placed glass shower door--crumbling onto the floor. The floor itself was dirty. The outer entry door was peeling badly, shedding bits of clear coating onto the floor and my hands. The blinds appeared to not have been cleaned in months--which should be done regularly. The bed frame was filthy--dust, debris, bits of wrappers and food. It was clearly dirty, with oils, handprints, and dried liquids (I'll leave that to your imagination). The closet doors, off-white, had visible hand grime. The disinfectant wipes I used were brown - yuck. The lamp was dusty, an outlet near the bed had a broken metal piece stuck inside, and both the bathroom vent and hair dryer were caked with dust. The dryer filter hadn't been cleaned in ages. The countertop above the mini fridge was detaching, the bathroom shelf was decaying, and the shower glass hadn't been cleaned. The creamy drip marks on the wall--hopefully conditioner or soap--remained, and the grout was mold-stained. A simple bleach spray would've fixed it. The shower water pressure was awful, with calcification that needs vinegar soaking. It also leaked from the stem. Meanwhile, the sink had too much pressure. The cleaning staff were wonderful--always offering help. The issues here clearly stem from management, not staff. I realize this isn't a four-star hotel and that my standards are higher than average. Having worked in property management and emergency response, I've been in many homes across all conditions and know what "clean" should look like. I attached photos (which don't even capture all of it) so others can decide for themselves. Public beds and showers should be cleaned frequently so dust, germs, and bugs don't build up. The initial clerk did warm up by the end, and wasn't outright rude, just awkward and pretentious at first. When I checked out, a different man was working. He was extremely pushy, insisting I stay longer despite me saying I had to get back on the road. Then he handed me a clipboard and said it was mandatory to fill out--a sheet listing my name, room number, and space for comments, stacked under previous guests' notes. I told him I'd review the hotel online instead. He insisted I fill in each section, so under "comments" I wrote "review on Yelp." Other than being pushy, he was friendly--but it was an annoying end to a stay that wasn't worth the cost. Not the worst stay I've had, but definitely not one I'd repeat.

The assistant to the office manager, Ariel Larios, displayed behavior that honestly felt far below the level of basic human decency and hospitality that anyone would expect from a Hilton property. There was no patience, no compassion, no willingness to help, and no effort whatsoever to understand the situation. The entire interaction felt cold, dismissive, and focused only on extracting money rather than helping people in need for a simple 2-hour request. What made this even more disturbing: * We are Hilton Diamond members * We stayed at this hotel in previous years * We clearly explained the disability-related difficulty * We only needed temporary short-term assistance * There is no clearly disclosed written policy online stating that short-term luggage assistance is unavailable unless you purchase a room Rather than showing courtesy or appreciation for years of loyalty to Hilton, we were effectively pushed into paying around $220 for a full room simply to receive basic luggage assistance for 2 hours. This experience made it feel like Hilton Diamond status means absolutely nothing at this property unless you are actively spending more money that exact moment. Returning customers, families with disabilities, and even basic human kindness appeared completely irrelevant. Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City should be ashamed that a simple request for temporary help turned into such a cold and humiliating experience.

The Tangerine is a beautifully restored boutique hotel with hip modern twist, located on a prime strip in lovely Burbank California, in close proximity to Warner Studios, Universal Studios and Bob Hope airport. It's also across the road from a wonderful row of restaurants as the kind gentleman mentioned at check-in, when he gave me the spiel of the property. He also helped accommodate an easy check-in for our bus driver who had been driving through the night. In addition to the impeccable service and hip decor I was impressed with the complimentary continental breakfast which consisted of a nice array of danishes and pastries delivered daily from a local Cuban restaurant. It also featured a high end expresso/coffee machine. Room had a really cool mural, comfy beds, and tasteful tangerine colored decor throughout. Free WiFi, parking and temperature controlled outdoor pool were a nice added touch. Had a great time here and I'm surely coming back for a stay when I have more leisure time. Our stay at Tangerine Hotel in Burbank was excellent! It's in a good location and is a small set of hotels, which makes it feel a little exclusive. It's super charming and adorable and somehow toes the line of feeling both modern and vintage. Check in was smooth, the front-desk person friendly, and the lobby was even decorated for Halloween, which I loved. Our room was clean, stylish, and comfortable. The colors were all themed to the hotel. I loved that there was a dresser, closet, desk/vanity space, and a fridge. In the morning, they had an assortment of pastries from Porto's available for free, and they were amazing. I also really appreciated that they were available all the way up until check out at 11. Though we didn't have a chance to use the pool, it was nice to know it was there and I'm sure lots of people enjoy its use. Would have loved to stay longer and definitely recommend it! read more

This is hands down one of the best places to stay in LA for the price. Clean, safe, and tasteful. Not to mention close to all the major studios and lots of wonderful restaurants. What struck me initially was the attention to detail throughout the entire property. The heated pool area, the modern furniture, and the lush foliage throughout the property made it a wonderful place to spend a night/morning. We arrived late after a great night in LA and still had no trouble checking in or parking, often a rare experience in a major city! Breakfast was simple but delicious, featuring a wide selection of coffee and espresso, as well as breakfast pastries brought fresh from a local bakery. Off the bat, the location couldn't have been better. Plenty of parking, the lot was nice and lit with enough entry ways to make the walk to and from the room very quick. The area feels very safe, we had no hesitations in keeping our belongings in the car. The Tangerine looks like the classic motels you see in Old Hollywood, but luckily it was in great shape, updated, and well maintained. Best part, the room smells like tangerines! I'm not sure if that was purposefully or a crazy coincidence, but it was great. Bathroom was a good size, not too cramped. Beds were really comfy, pillows were in the sweet spot between not-too-full and not-too-thin, and a nice down blanket. The air conditioner seems to be fairly new as well, which if you stay at motels often you know is not always the case. I'd definitely recommend it! read more

Had a great stay at this hotel! I used to live in LA and drove by this spot many times thinking it looked cool, and it did not disappoint! Outside is a vintage motel vibe, but inside the rooms are updated and modern. The beds were comfortable with soft pillows and a plush comforter. The bathroom was well stocked with nice toiletries and fluffy towels. In the morning the front lobby provides pastries from Porto's (a great local bakery/restaurant) which was a plus!! Shops, restaurants, and anything you'd need is close by! The Tangerine staff was so friendly and Astin made us feel warmly welcomed. They serve the most delicious assortment of pastries from the legendary Porto's bakery for breakfast, and are not to be missed! Stayed here in September 2013 I had a hard time searching for decent hotels in the area - Next time I travel to Universal Studios I know where to stay, and I must say this seems to be the cleanest hotel around. Place was ultra clean. Nice vanity outside of bathroom so 2 people can get ready at once.
