Vanessa has such a pleasant spirit and the atmosphere is very calming. I highly recommend her, especially if it's your first tattoo.

Her other tattoos look great but if you're looking to get line work done I would definitely not recommended. I got Line work done and it's incredibly patchy.

so long story short my friend and i both decided to get tattoos, when looking on instagram we found The Tattoo Gemologist and let me tell you she is the sweetest most gentle tattoo artist i've met. I think the whole process for me was around an hour and a half with the total coming to around $80.. i can't remember the exact number but i totally think it was worth it, she's still new and does take her time but I appreciate that plus i honestly started to fall asleep on the table just with how relaxing the environment is! if you're thinking of getting your first tattoo or are a little nervous to walking into a giant tattoo parlor i highly recommend coming to her.

I had such a great experience with Vanessa. From the very beginning, she was super responsive and easy to communicate with, which immediately made me feel comfortable. She really takes the time to go over your ideas and all the little details, making sure everything feels right before starting. Nothing felt rushed at all--she's patient, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in the process. I really appreciated that she gave honest, professional opinions about what would work best and what wasn't necessary, without ever being pressuring. The whole session was very professional but also relaxed at the same time, which is honestly the perfect combo when getting a tattoo. Getting my first tattoo was such an emotional experience for me, and Vanessa made me feel completely comfortable from start to finish. Her place is very calming, and she has her own place which made it so much easier for me. This tattoo was in remembrance of my husband, who passed away and she truly listened to everything I wanted and the meaning behind it. Vanessa was incredibly kind, patient, and comforting. Her hand was so light that I barely felt a thing during the tattoo. I absolutely love how my first tattoo turned out, and I'm so grateful for the care and compassion she showed me throughout the entire experience. First time client, and won't be my last visit. Vanessa is extremely professional, well organized and takes her craft seriously. She is creative, thoughtful and easy to work with. Her space is quaint, comfortable and appropriate for the work she does. I have many tattoos (from other artists) but hers is by far the best quality and because she is light handed, not nearly as painful as past ones. Highly recommend! read more

Gave myself a Valentine's Day gift and I have zero regrets. I have another tattoo by a different artist that was supposed to be fine line but it definitely did not turn out that way! did my tattoo 3 months ago and is completely faded I tried getting a touch up but she tried to charge me to get it retouched and I could be wrong but I feel like her mistake should be taken care of by her and I shouldn't have to pay for it. To your reply, regardless of it being fine line or not to my research "fine line tattoos" last up to a decade not 3 months to fade. And yea you gave me a touch up to a small faded part of another tattoo artist that has less time doing tattoos yet look better now than the one I received from you. After care as you mention was done the way your instructions showed. No my error.I think for the future if you make a mistake just own up to it and maybe give a little longer than 1 month for a free touch up. read more

I had such a great experience with Vanessa! A friend of mine recommended her to me and I'm so glad she did! I followed Vanessa's tattoo Instagram and immediately fell in love with her style of tattooing! She's very responsive via social media, which made it very easy for me to consult about the tattoo I wanted without having to be there in person. I was very indecisive about the specific tattoo and specific location I wanted, but Vanessa was very patient and understanding both online and in person! She gave me time and space to finalize the piece and location without any rush or any judgement. She has a soft touch and made sure that I was comfortable throughout the entire experience! Summary: wonderful experience for the first tattoo, talented artist, adorable style, cozy studio with free movies to watch while getting the work done; will come back. I had the pleasure of getting my first tattoo done by Vanessa, the talented owner of The Tattoo Gemologist, and I must say it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. I initially found her through Instagram and was impressed with her style, which shared similar vibe with the artist in foreign country I had originally wanted to work with but was not able to due to schedule conflict. Vanessa was more than willing to take on the challenge of creating the design in her own unique style (custom crayons book style). On the day of the tattoo session, Vanessa was incredibly kind and patient, walking me through the entire process and making me feel at ease. She even offered breaks if needed, which was a thoughtful gesture I hadn't expected. The tattooing process turned out to be almost painless, contrary to my initial apprehensions. Vanessa acknowledged that pain tolerance varies among individuals, which made me feel more comfortable throughout the session. The color choices Vanessa made for the tattoo were spot-on, as the colors complemented each other perfectly. We also discovered that yellow didn't show up well on my skin during the process, and she shared this valuable information with me, which I'll keep in mind for future tattoos. I followed Vanessa's aftercare instructions diligently during the healing process, but some areas of the tattoo did fade after the flaking off stage. Fortunately, Vanessa assured me that touch-ups are normal and offered to do one for me. I did my research online and confirmed that this is indeed a regular part of the tattoo healing process, which gave me peace of mind. I am extremely satisfied with the experience and the tattoo itself. Though it is an hour drive for me, it is totally worth it. Yesterday I got one of my dream tattoos. Vanessa was very nice and easy to talk to. She made it super easy to make an appointment. I have about ten tattoos and almost every other tattoo artist I've gone to have been very heavy handed. Not Vanessa, she made sure I was comfortable and if I needed to take a break that I could.
