The area has changed a lot over the years, but this place is always consistently good. I have been to multiple Teahouse locations and the quality of drinks seems to be maintained at the same level no matter which one you go to.

    Meh.

No wonder why I haven't been here in 6 years, the quality hasn't improved at all. After a big meal for some reason I always get boba to end the night, so my friends and I decided to come here because it was right next to Hokkaido. I'll start with the service, it was alright. I went ahead and ordered the strawberry green tea. The drink was just okay, It tasted like they put a whole bunch of strawberry purée with a pinch of tea, which is a no no for me. My friend asked me to try his almond coffee because he couldn't finish it. I thought it was really bad, it was so overwhelming with some sort of cheap concentrated/powdered almonds which had a foul aftertaste. I definitely do not recommend that drink. Overall, it was a disappointing experience & I don't think I'll be back.

Matcha green tea, original milk tea, durian smoothie
    Henry V L.

Should really be called SmoothTea House. Because the smoothies are better here and therefore it should come first. They also have other things so they could say more but it's not really sufficient. We ordered the original milk tea and matcha milk tea and both tasted funky. Like I understand that each bubble tea place has their own distinct taste but not entirely. But this was entirely. On the other hand, the durian smoothie was amazing. I never had a thing for durian because the smell makes your head ache. But this was tolerable. It made me reconsider my dislike for the fruit. I also heard good things about the avocado smoothie. But all good things come with a price, the smoothies cost a couple dollars more. Interior decor really season themed with small pine trees. Also has a cool twisty booth where you can sit.

Tapioca cream tea was good at full sweetness $4.25 + 75c tapioca

Taro cream tea $4.25 + 75c tapioca - good price for a large size. Tapioca places are getting way too expensive at $6+. However the cream blends here are $6.50+. Taro flavor was good. Not too sweet. I usually get my drinks less sweet, but 100% was just right. Dont get less, otherwise it might just taste like milk tbh. Didn't even have to ask for less ice either. Tapioca balls were very soft and chewy, and they actually gave a good amount of it. Shareable.

WHAT! What to get: Lemon Honey Black Tea, Strawberry Black Tea, Lemongrass Over Ice. What toppings: Aloe Vera plus Strawberry Hearts, Lychee Bears or Passion Fruit Dolphins. What not to get: Student loans instead of Teahouse, homes. (We all would choose the latter) Wonderful location of The Teahouse in Chinatown. They have gotten it right each time, which many other locations don't. Their drinks taste strong and delicious, instead of watered down and iffy. Cute cops come here (although I'm not a big fan of the policy of giving free drinks to cops, or that so many cops take advantage of it). I don't like that you need a key for the bathroom. I do like that they have no problem with us being in there late, close to closing time. And I've seen a lot of Yelpers in here, one time they even met Barbie, another time I was with one of Barbie's friends and they saw her too. Fun times. They're not as friendly as some of the other locations, but then this is Houston Chinatown so a lot of service in this area is not as friendly as one would hope. The products are excellent and they still served us close to closing time, and have always been pretty cool. You do need to request the key for the bathroom but then you also need a key to get in my bedroom if you know what I mean baby. All milk teas here are mediocre or disappointing, except for the Honeydew, which is good but not the best in town. The smoothies are a little better - particularly if you get the coffee ones which are excellent. The Honeydew smoothie is good, too. But the coffee and mocha and chocolate blended smoothies are delicious and excellent. However, the real stars are the fruit teas. Especially the more imaginative toppings, which are absolutely delicious. Passion fruit dolphins, lychee agar bears, strawberry hearts. Boom. All three are so unique and divine, they're one of my reasons for coming here so often. As well as the lovely Aloe Vera. The most original, unique, spectacular drink is the lemongrass. Get it over ice - not blended - with Aloe Vera plus one of the big 3 (bears, hearts, dolphins). Same goes for any fruit based drink. I also highly recommend the Strawberry Black tea w/ Strawberry hearts & aloe. And the heavenly Lemon Honey Black Tea w/ aloe, plus bears, hearts or dolphins. Both as good as the lemon grass, addictive, incomparable. Unlike anything, anywhere else. 3 drinks, such brilliant standouts, and why Teahouse is so high in my rankings. Fresh Grapefruit and Tropical Fruit Tea are good, too. Both made with fresh fruits. I'm not as much into them lately, but try the former. Definitely one of the best places for fruit teas (with Black Tea, the best way) in the whole country. And for sinkers too. I don't know how they do it, but they do it so, so well. And if you service too many ppl in the bathroom, you'll end up with The Sore-Kneehouse. And when you bring your wife here, it's The Guess-what-she's-having-an-affair-with-Mehouse.

Ok so... I came here for the first time ever a couple of weeks ago. I wanted a "tapioca" drink that and hadn't had one in over 10 yrs!! I saw the reviews to see why ppl were ordering and I went with "vanilla cappuccino with tapioca". Ooooommmmmgggg!!! It was so delicious and freaking awesomely amazing! I came back 3 weekends in a row just for that same drink. I live an hour away so this is a bigish deal for me to come all the way out here for this. But it was literally that good! Today is my 3rds weekend coming back here and I got the "mango cream with tapioca". Sooooo gooooddddd!! This place is super quick even when there's a line! They are on top of it! I definitely recommend!!! I wish I lived closer!

    Vanilla cappuccino with regular boba

I like this location a lot better than the one on shepherd. Not really much to say, it's a nice little boba place. Clean, and I've always gotten good service. Parking can be scarce. I always order the vanilla cappuccino here as it reminds me of a coffee drink I use to order from a place in the Hong Kong market that closed.

    Lychee Black Tea
    Paulo L.

Came in at 4pm on a Monday, only two customers so it wasn't busy which was good. WiFi was easy to connect to and pretty fast. There are a few different seating arrangements. The seating along the walls have outlets so that's nice. Their entire menu is digitally displayed and very clean. The only thing not as clean were the metal surfaces. Sat next to a sticky countertop. Ordered a Lychee Black Tea less sweet and they gave me exactly what I ordered. Can't complain. They have a huge menu so if you visit you'll have plenty of choices. I'm also a fan of tea shops that actually serve food as well so I might come back and try some of that next time.

Teahouse doesn't get enough love in my opinion. The drinks are on the cheaper end of the Bellaire Chinatown spectrum and are great and they have multiple locations throughout Houston. They have an extensive menu and lots of options. This time around I decided to get one of the snacks. I got the squid balls (you can choose the spice level too) and it was $4 for 8 of them. I wish it was a full cup of them instead of 8 but that's just how it is I guess. They were perfectly seasoned, not too salty, and piping hot out of the fryer. It took 5-10 min for them to come out but I didn't mind. This place is big enough to meet up with people and not feel congested. There's plenty of tables and a long bar at the window with outlets to plug in your devices.

    Thai tea
    Hellen J.

Ordered a Thai tea blended with tapioca and a coconut cream blended with tapioca. Price was reasonable $10.85. I would rate the Thai tea 6/10, not enough thai tea flavor. The coconut cream 8/10, creamy and sweet.

Cafe 101 serve Japanese and Chinese food. There are table and booths inside as well as a full bar. We started with a couple of sushi specials... bluefin toro and Uni. Thought the bluefin toro were fresh as well as the Uni. Wasn't expecting so was pleasantly surprised. For our mains, we ordered the twice cooked pork and beef galbi. Both came as a set... with rice, side dish of pickled radish and carrots and dessert. Price-wise, it was reasonable considering it came as a set. Twice cooked pork hits the spot. It was plenty and had some to go. Galbi was decent... it's not like Korean Galbi. It was pretty saucy, sweet and tender. It was decent portion as well. Think we found our new late night spot! The lounge like ambiance, along with their diner-like menu, is a major selling point for folks and has been one of the reasons for their popularity over the better part of the last two decades. It is a bit trendy and plays music that you would think of and in a Miami lounge or a pretentious New York Club. While service is not their strong suit, the clean bathrooms, spacious seating, and semi-open kitchen makes up for some 'tudes from the staff. The menu is most definitely Asian, but blends from a predominantly Chinese menu and featuring various Taiwanese, Korean, Japanese items. The latter includes sushi, which is likely one of the only spots in the neighborhood that still has it after midnight. They have bluefin tuna and sea urchin, in which Cafe 101 is one of the only late night spots to offer it. Their beef chow fun is nice and greasy, but filled with excessive onions, bean sprouts, and various other veggies that almost take away from the noodles and beef (which was nicely cooked). Their shrimp and egg came in a nice set, which was a good surprise and surprisingly well executed. This is also a spot for Japanese curry, and even though it's not the best, it most certainly does the job. Taiwanese popcorn chicken is on point, cumin lamb is unsurprisingly spicy, and Singapore chow mai fun has a tinge of solid wok hei. (#1) I'm genuinely not a fan of their soups and think the sushi rolls are not their best work. While they also have milk, tea options, unless one is desperate, I would also steer clear of. Parking in the early evening can be an issue at Don Huang Plaza, but after 11pm, the parking options should be abundant. I would consider coming here in a larger group, especially with late night owls. ___________ (#1) Wok's essence (鑊氣)

The less sweet is already plenty sweet for me, so wish there was a slightly less sweet option than that. The service was polite and friendly, and the inside was clean with several tables.
