we find ourselves questioning the judgement of those who recommended this place to us. It's a mid sized restaurant that serves diner food but there was a 20+ min wait for a table with only three couples in front of us. The hostess doesn't show you to your table, you are instead given directions and expected to find it yourself. No proper or self respectable establishment does that. Period. Makes you wonder what other corners are being cut. From sitting down to getting our food took over 45 min. We ordered our drinks and food all at once, no special requests. We were served food without silverware and it took them 10 min to resolve that. The pancakes were raw on the inside. If you can't do a pancake correctly, what else is being done wrong...well my partner had a different meal and was vomiting later that day so that answers that question. We were quickly seated and waited on. The food came out fast. I had some of the best coleslaw, and flavored lemonade with my chicken. Hubby had the chicken club and the breast was bigger than the very big bun. It is a homey place where it seems everyone knows everyone. read more

The food was VERY good. I had the Cuban sandwich and my wife ordered a Club sandwich. Both were excellent and stacked really high. In fact, my wife generally gets her order with fries. She will eat the fries while hot and crispy and box up the sandwich for later at home. The sandwich was stacked so high, she had to push it down a bit just to close the to-go box. Both sandwiches, both with "upgrades" to fries (instead of chips) and two soft drinks was only $37 and change. Very reasonable for the quantity and quality. Pricing almost on par, and certainly not much more than many fast food places these days. Will not hesitate to stop in again while in the area looking for a bite. read more

We came out from Alanson to enjoy breakfast. Really great food and friendly service. I ordered an omelette with hash browns, wheat toast, and a cup of coffee. Good flavors including good water. The food at Wilson's River Edge was fantastic! My husband had the pearch dinner, and I had the Whitefish dinner. The portions were very large and delicious. COVID REVIEW: The tables are spaced out, the staff however clearly doesn't care nor respect basic guidelines. At least 3 of the servers had on sequin masks that were mesh, so the sequins covered the fact that they were mesh. A few others had masks just over their mouth or on the chin. Besides the lack of acknowledgement for the MANY elder people dining there and no concern for their health, the servers were also pretty off putting. Not friendly by any means. On the outside, the place doesn't look so appealing- but don't be fooled. Walk into a cabin like feel with friendly faces and fresh foods. I had the grilled chicken club, served with bacon and aioli on a freshly grilled bun. Hubby had the half sandwich/cup of soup option. Juicy tomato slices with butter lettuce leaves- no ordinary romaine lettuce here. Even the potato chips were extra thick- no cheap grocery brand here! Great place, inexpensive. I went for breakfast and I got the Mexican Breakfast Burrito without chili, add bacon. I asked for less than half sweetness of the Vanilla Iced Coffee and it was still very sweet so keep that in mind if you're considering ordering that. Don't waste your money or time. Ordered 19 dollar whitefish basket, came on a plate. Fish was soggy and unflavourful, fries had me wondering what I was eating. Ketchup tasted like they made it themselves with side items left in the back. Mozzarella sticks were good, would have been better if their grease was clean. Wife ordered the shrimp basket, also came on a plate. Wife ate one shrimp and said it was bland and not what she expected. Deep fried pickles were horrible, if I was given those pickles the first time I tried fried pickles I would never want to try them again. Our waitress was ok but the other one let the door close on me when I was directly behind her. I do get looked at a lot up here, could be my tanned complexion might not. I kept imagining Gordon Ramsey coming here and what he would say. 2 stars instead of 1 because of the mozzarella sticks and ok waitress. Get the cinnamon roll pancakes. You will be glad you did. Pumpkin pancakes sucked big time. There was no pumpkin flavor in them and after receiving the pancakes, they told me they were out of the apple syrup that they are supposed to come with. 2 stars bc we got racist vibes from this place. Some from servers, a lot from other customers. We sat for 10 min without anyone offering water or menus, and place wasn't packed. Had a server that was short with us one day. A different girl checked us out the following day and was also curt and unfriendly. We had breakfast here three times on vacation and I tend to use YELP to try different things when I have the chance. So Wilsons is simply exceptional. This would be a popular spot anywhere in the country I've ever been to, and in a town as small as Indian River it is just awesome. You can even get a Bloody Mary with your breakfast if you need a little hair of the dog. While everything was fantastic, the Nutty Camper French Toast was so ridiculously good I have to make a point of adding that to my comments. And I'm not the only one because it was another YELP review that convinced me to try it. If I lived in the area I would have to have it at LEAST once a week.
