Throughout the nail biting process was my personal concierge Sal, who expertly navigated my way throughout a sea of choices and nerve racking considerations with the competence, patience, and follow through I rarely find in today's retail environment. Sal ensured my tiles were in sync with my contractor's timeline and my personal specifications as if it was his own project and always greeted me with a cheerful disposition and "white glove service", no matter how many times I visited "the salon" - this is why I jokingly call him, "my concierge". And not only that, every time I was in his shop, I witnessed he consistently gave a great level of care to all the clientele that entered or he personally serviced. Derrick, Mark, and the lead warehouse manager were also wonderful to work with and each of them, in their own way, made my experience a great one and the outcome is two beautiful bathrooms me and my guest will enjoy for years to come! I went to this store today to pick out and purchase tile today for my bathroom. I walked out and didn't buy anything. And I won't be going back. One star for customer service, one star for selection. It first started with a male/female couple walking in ahead of us and them getting greeted by an employee. My mother-in-law and I walked in, nothing....a few of the salespeople looked up from the main desk, but we didn't even get a hi. And then another M/F couple walked in 30 seconds after us (we were still standing near the door figuring out which way to go first) and we watched them be greeted. "Okay, that's odd, but I'm sure someone will chat with us at some point." Multiple employees walked past me throughout the store. One even walked past me, standing there with my MIL, and then he approached a couple in the same aisle 10 feet away asking them if they needed help. My MIL turned and asked me if we should have brought our husbands with us to get acknowledged by the salespeople. Clearly, we did. Don't get me wrong, the tile selection is gorgeous. But I got 75% of the way through the store before an employee even acknowledged me. "Everything alright?" That's the best I got. And there were plenty of salespeople. They were wandering all over the place. But not even a hi? Hello? Can I help you? Unfortunately, I won't be going back. If I'm going to be spending a significant amount of money, I'd like to be at least acknowledged. read more

I had such a great experience using The Tile Shop. Renovating a large master bath was a new experience for me, & my salesman Marc Cohen made it so easy. First, he helped me with my selection of tile, letting me know why one tile would either be better or look different than another similar tile. He was great at seeing the underlying colors/tints to the tiles when matching ones to coordinate. This would have been an over whelming experience if I had not had his help. He not only educated me on the remodeling processes, he gave me the name of a great contractor that works a lot with The Tile Shop. This really made for a great experience. Horrible customer service!!!! I have receipts for what i paid for items then when i went to return the items they would only credit me 60 percent of the price. They said there system showed different amounts. I have a receipt in hand and credit card statement with the amount but they refused. They even changed my delivery charge from $99 to $175 AFTER the sale!!! How do they do that. How unethical. read more

They have a lot of supplies for DIY. The selection of granite is lacking. The staff, the first three times I went to this location no one greeted me or even acknowledged me being in the store. I even went behind a counter to borrow a tape measure, you'd thought I was invisible. I love this store, it has every color and still that you could possibly think of. They also have bathroom and kitchen displays of the very nice products that they offer. I highly recommend that if you are shopping for porcelain, marble or granite this is your place. I had a lovely experience working with Destinee she is very professional and knowlegeable. Poorly managed business. Horrible experience from start to finish. We presented the shop with measurements for two project, and were then oversold a number of items. We were given excess grout and other accessories - totaling over $500.00. We were told not to worry, that anything we didn't use could be returned. When we tried to return the material there was loophole for everything and we had to load it all back in our car. To appease us, we were told we could have store credit for roughly the value. When we tried to use the store credit this was not honored. We were told they would discount a "big project" - so long as we stayed within the allowable negotiable amount. We recently ordered tile for a kitchen backsplash. We had an idea of what we wanted. We looked at a few other shops that did not have the vast selection The Tile Shop had. We looked there on our own first and brought home 2 different kinds of tiles, then we realized we needed help. We worked with Claire Brown and she was great! We gave her an idea of what we wanted and she found tiles, accent tiles and trim that were perfect. The accent tiles were not readily available locally, but she made sure we got them. We are so happy with the results and highly recommend The Tile Shop and Claire. They informed us that unopened boxes/bags of supplies could be returned and we got full credit for all of them. We will definitely be back the next time we need tiles! read more

I had very good results at this store. Josh was the person helping me and he was extremely helpful. He helped me find exactly what I was looking for. He kept his focus on helping me and wasn't afraid to offer opinions.Yes, I had to wait for him while he helped another customer before me, but when it was my turn he took very good care of me. The pricing was competitive with other places I had looked at. The scheduling was convenient and delivery went smoothly and things arrived just as he said they would. The Tile Shop had a good selection. I like that they accept returns of unopened boxes without a restocking charge and I found returns easy. There is another branch of the store closer to my home, but once I had worked with Josh, I preferred to stick with him. Kudos to him for excellent customer service. read more

I have been here a couple of times. The customer service has been atrocious (20+ minutes was typical), but we did manage to buy tiles here once the first time by cornering one of the sales people (who ended up still getting us the wrong size tile). The sales staff is typically on the computers or in the back room and will normally ignore customers. I finally found a use for the tiles and wanted to get two of them cut. I managed to catch a sales associate on their computer to ask about this and the manager interceded telling me it was $5 per cut and I would have to draw the lines on them myself and then he wandered off. As I really needed this done, I had to accept. I then proceeded to get attitude from the store manager about me complaining about the price..."Did you buy these here?...Well we can't cut these things for free". read more

Went to the tile shop to search for tile to do a back splash. Great selection of stone and tile along with over 40 examples of baths and kitchens. Prices seem reasonable for a specialty shop. My experience in the past is you get a better quality product when it comes to natural stone from a shop like this then a big box home improvement store and it didn't disappoint. The service was top notch. Had two gentlemen approach us at various times to offer their assistance with anything we needed. I recognized a gentleman (Marc) that I knew from many yrs ago as one of their salesman. He helped us make some decisions and furnished us names of some recommended contractors. Horrible service if you would even call it service. No other patrons were in the location yet it took 30 minutes for an associate to say anything or ask if I needed help. Piss poor service however, I can't even call it that since I didn't make a purchase nor would I spend money with this location. To have three associates working two of which were having a conversation while I was in there for 30 minutes is unacceptable. Then I replied it took 30 minutes for an associate to even acknowledge me in the location, the associate walked back to whatever he was doing as if it didn't matter. Piss poor, inattentive, lack of class and professionalism. I've spent well over 10k in the other store and expected to receive the same level of service regardless of them knowing if I was purchasing anything for another bathroom in my house. Will never go here again unless I want to be ignored or don't feel like being bothered with talking to a human because that's what level of service was explicitly conveyed. They don't even deserve a star but since I have to put some rating that is the only reason a star is given. If there were an option for negative or zero stars, that would be the rating. read more

I found this place through a friends recommendation and was hesitant to go because of reviews and the history I've had with specialty shops in the past. I had to go twice because the selection was so big I got overwhelmed looking at everything and wanted to do some comparisons before I bought anything. I'm not sure about the other reviews but I actually like when sales people don't approach me when I walk into a store. It's fairly annoying and I just want to browse in peace. I was surprised that the prices $$$ were comparable to the larger home improvement stores and the selection was greater. We bought tile for our guest bathroom but they didn't have enough in stock and had to order the rest. The ordering process was quick and easy(much different from bigger and other specialty shops). We picked the stuff up two days after we bought it and it was just how we ordered. We were told that even though we purchased it by the box we could return individual tiles if needed. I like to keep extras so we didn't and I can't verify the process of returning them. We are in the process of upgrading all of our bathrooms and this store is on the browse list due to price and customer service. One more thing to note, even though the address is Oakland Mills the store front is Snowden River. read more

I have been here twice to order tile, and both times the customer service was horrible! The first time I walked in, the place was empty. It took 20 minutes for me to even find an employee, and when I did he was on "break" on the computer and couldn't help me. Luckily by then I already knew what I needed and made an order with the next employee around 10 minutes later. The second visit was just as bad to pick up the tile I ordered on the first visit. 30 minutes to have an employee print out my pick ticket and direct me towards the pick up area. If I didn't need the tile to complete a project on such a short time line, I would have left. The employees in the front part of the store lack general customer service. I found when I had a question during the ordering process I was talked down to. I ended up order over 2K worth of tile to complete my project at the Pasadena location, where I was addressed immediately and had employees help with decisions and design ideas. I will never go back to the Columbia location. However, the gentleman that works in the warehouse was awesome and friendly. I came during his lunch shift and he was polite and loaded everything into my car with a smile. Maybe they should put him up front! read more
