The Tile Shop provided a referral to us for shower work. The "contractor" they referred, Tom, has now cost us thousands in repairs and re-work. He patchily grouted the shower and never caulked, water is behind and under the tile now. He never even sealed! He then tiled the floors to match, and never fully grouted leaving holes. He also failed to take out the old floor, elevating the new floor significantly causing a trip hazard at each of the thresholds. He had to cut down our very expensive six panel oak doors so they would fit on the new floors, but he cut them so poorly. They are now jagged and stripping at the bottom. We have a new contractor coming in to do the work again, but it's going to cost us thousands and thousands more because now he has to demo and we have to buy new doors. We paid him in full, (stupid, I know) and then he stopped responding to our calls and texts, because my husband called him "unprofessional" for being non-responsive and not doing the work properly. i went to the Tile Shop with my contractor to purchase tile and miscellaneous items for construction. The contractor took forever to complete the project and when I went to return some items they would not refund my money because the items were purchased more than 60 days prior. in addition, they would not take back an open box of tile with about 40 tiles in it. I had no problem returning individual tiles at TWO "Big Box" stores. I'm not sure why I paid more for the tile but got less service. in the future, I will save money and get better service by using a big box store. Super disappointing. read more

You know the nightmare of a bathroom remodel, you don't have a bathroom for months, and then afterwards, you don't have money for years. Well this place made matters worse, after selecting and paying for bathroom tile, it wasn't ready or available when the plumbers and tile installers were ready to go. Someone here decided that it was taking up too much room in storage. The tile was high quality, and the showroom is nice, but if you can find a more dependable place with the same quality tile I recommend you try them out. read more

Warning! Don't order any tile until your tile person is on sight to install. They have a 60-return policy. If your tile person is delayed which happens all the time you will lose out. Be very careful about your quantities. I have $ 500 worth of perfect unused products that I cannot return. Multiple phone calls asking if they would charge a re-stocking fee were refused. It's a classic tile they used in their displays and not something trendy. Of course, the original salesperson no longer works at this location. I wish I had read the review first before ordering. I can't say enough good things about The Tile Shop. We wanted some nice glass tile for a kitchen project and did the rounds at Home Depot and Lowe's and couldn't find the right thing. Based on Mel B's recommend, we checked out the Tile Shop. First off, the service is amazing. They were very busy when we stopped but had no problem finding someone to help. I described what I wanted - poorly and vaguely. Within seconds Bryce pulled tiles that I never would have looked twice at. BAM! Absolutely perfect choice! It was exactly what I wanted, I just didn't know it. You can get cheaper tile at a big box store, but they can't come close to the quality, variety and service that you'll get here. Placing our order was painless and delivery was exactly when promised. As an added bonus, you can return any extra tile so you won't be wasting money, If you need tile for a project, it's really worth checking these guys out. They are great! read more

We were looking for tile for a shower remodeling project and TJ at The Tile Shop was super helpful! We have never done a project like this before and TJ followed us around the store for a good two hours while we hemmed and hawed. He pulled many, many samples for us and made suggestions about tile size, color, and placement. His help was invaluable! Once we decided on tile and fixtures, a detailed proposal, including price, was emailed to us. Our contractor placed the order so he could use his contractor discount, but the contractor commented that the prices we were quoted were quite reasonable, even before the discount. We were happy with the large selection of tile and fixtures that The Tile Store had to offer. read more

Do not go here. There are plenty of other wonderfu, more helpful, friendly and professional tile places out there to shop at and get your tile from. Minimally helpful at best. Each customer seems to be another thorn in there side. If you need help figuring out what you want and need for tile this is not the place to go. Store is not set up well to make your selections and they make you feel bad if you are not sure what will look best for your individual and very expensive tiling project. They also will not take the time to mention that many of their samples are old. Therefore, when you order from a sample on the floor what you get may be a completely different dye lot resulting in a completely different and wrong color that you may not realize until the tile is on the wall. Stay away! Certain you will get better service and end result elsewhere! read more

Designer review! The rep (Jay) I had was so great. The store manager not so much. Spent tens of thousands and wouldn't budge on a return policy where a project was delayed by a contractor. Tried to return $3k worth of product unused. Unopened. Still in stock items. Nothing special Ordered. I hope all designers and contractors read this review. I've recently returned items to Floor and Decor (best customer service ever!) and the tile bar with items purchased at the same time. Horrible experience and will not let my clients spend another dime there. With delays today in construction this policy should be adjusted. Especially for trade clients like most other stores have. I always get nervous going into these types of places. How often do people really buy tile? Is it really enough to keep a place like this in business? Would that make it cheap? But I went because I actually needed tile. Found some good stuff. It's easy if you exclude beige, because there is a LOT of beige. We liked what we saw and it wasn't a bad price. A guy helps us, and there was no pressure and he had a lot of good ideas and advice. He was super nice and didn't charge my father-in-law for breaking a tile. So we got a lot of glass tile for a bath, and I may be back got stainless steel tiles for a kitchen. I hope everything looks as good installed. read more

Was so IMPRESSED with the Tile Shop in West Allis. I have made two visits there and both times was greeted immediately at the door with "How can we help you today." This week, I was carrying a large basket with tile samples and ideas and a very helpful sales rep took the basket from me and carried it to be back of the store where we had an appointment with Kristy. She was INCREDIBLE--helping my husband and I put all the right tiles together to make our traditional master bath remodel gorgeous. The customer service is unprecedented. The tile and selection are amazing. The Tile Shop is not going to be the cheapest route but in my opinion, cheap tile is ugly, so if you are going through the effort to remodel, get some kick ass tile and make your project shine. They offer classes for DIYers on how to install tile. I now have a new found appreciation for anyone that tiles, this is not an easy job. We have a bathroom that is the size of a postage stamp and I have never seen my husband get after it and sweat like he did the day he put in the tile. WOW! My hats go off to those that do this for a living....it is a form of art. We got the little white hexagon tile (going for the 1920's look) and the guys working there recommended the gray grout, they said it would make the while tile POP. So happy for their recommendation as it turned out beautifully (also turned out that way due to my husband's skills on laying the tile). They also sold us the tile sealant and sponges, all of great quality. The best part was we could RETURN the unused sheets of tile, not individual tile. That was such an awesome service to provide. Sure you can find cheaper tile at Menards and the like but I recommend going to these guys due to the service and the fact they really know what they are talking about if you have questions. read more

I had an overall good experience buying tile here-I went in and found what I wanted. I took some pictures and called the following week with the item #. I talked to Jay, who was EXCELLENT to work with. I ordered one box for a small backsplash and paid over the phone. I said I'd be in that evening, the only miss was that they didn't tell me that they would be closing early at 6pm due to the holiday the next day (typically they're open until 9pm on weeknights). I was there after 6pm but they still let me get the box of backsplash tile (although they were somewhat put out, I was just grateful I didn't have to drive back there again on Black Friday!!!) read more

I'll also give a solid "excellent" rating to the Tile Shop for several reasons. First, as others have mentioned the customer service is top notch, especially compared to the big box stores. The guys/girls at The Tile Shop really know their stuff, both from a design standpoint and an installation standpoint. I work with Jim Samuelson, who really knows his products inside and out. Jim knows a heck of a lot as to how to coordinate the various tiles to work together just right and has helped me A LOT! Doing nearly any tile project is going to be a big job, especially if you're tiling two entire bathrooms (very large bathrooms too!) and you want to get the best results-RIGHT? First is the design standpoint, I especially like how The Tile Shop has probably at least 20 model bathroom displays, a bunch of kitchen displays, etc. That way, you can see how all of the different styles of tile interact with each other and come together to make something that really looks awesome! Its easy to just think about the big 12x12 tiles that cover most of the space (or whatever size your main tiles are) but its all of the other accent tiles that can really take something OK or decent and make it into something exceptional. When you're just looking at boxes of tile stacked on the floor or mounted on a wall, its hard to conceptualize how to get all those different little accent tiles to come together just right. Between the big displays and how they lay out their sample boards, they make it 100 times easier to come up with something AWESOME! The other big part is the installation. Tile seems simple to install, but there's so much prep work that needs to be done correctly before even the first tile is set, or things can really go wrong! Plus, there's many different types of mortar and grout to use for different types of tile, if your design mixes glass and stone or ceramic, you want to make sure you're using the correct mortar and grout for each type of tile you use. These guys really know what they're talking about. Sure, if you get the right person at a big box you might get great advice, but I've also had people at those stores tell me things I know are wrong or that after doing some research, I found out were totally incorrect! No matter how great your tile job looks on day 1, if after a year your tiles are popping off and cracking, how good is that "great job" now? read more

Bought my backsplash tile from here. It's travertine 4x4 squares. The price was a little higher then I had predicted. However, to make up for the price the service was the best I've ever experienced. You can't go to home depot or menards and get the same quality of service you do here. They really know their stuff. I was told, "what you see is what you get." The selection of tile is wide, but very low grade and cheap looking. I would compare their products to Walmart or Menards. I went across the street to Lexco where not only are the product offerings high end and beautiful (yet pricey) but the customer service was top notch. As in most things in life, you get what you pay for. I found exactly what I was looking for at Lexco and will recommend them to friends. I do not recommend tile shop. At all. Sales rep was in a big hurry the whole time he was helping me, even though there were maybe 2 other customers in the store. Gave me contradictory information to the how-to videos on their website (told me I don't need to seal slate tile before grouting, told me it's fine to tile over plywood, no polymer admixture needed). Was told my order would be in by Friday. Planned my whole weekend around tiling. Called Friday afternoon after not hearing anything all day....apparently my sales rep was mistaken and should have told me my order would not be in until Monday. LOVE this place! Just finished choosing our tile for our bathroom remodeling project. Came in here with no clue, feeling overwhelmed with trying to envision how the floor tile, wall tile and accents would all look together. Jay was extremely helpful! My husband and I went to the tile shop around 330 today (Sunday). The store was entirely empty. Not only were we not greeted upon arrival by the two gentleman standing at the front desk but not one employee bothered to find us to see if we needed help. One guy made direct eye contact with me and kept walking in the other direction. Another guy looked at me and he too kept walking. After he essentially blew us off, I yelled, "no thanks, we don't need help." Of course this comment was dripping with sarcasm, as I was rather annoyed that he saw me and just kept walking. It was at this point I told my husband I wanted to leave. We work too hard for our money to go where our business is not appreciated nor apparently wanted. When we got in the car my husband wondered if they blew us off because we had work clothes on. The employees at the tile shop should follow the old adage, "you can't judge a book by its cover." Despite a beautiful selection of tile we will never return. There are other tile shops in the area we will give a try before stepping foot in the tile shop again. read more

Great selection of tile, bad customer service and schiesty employees. We went in there a couple of weeks ago to pick out tile for our kitchen and bathrooms. The sales guy was nice and helpful, but after that initial day, it all went downhill. A week later I went in to purchase the tile that we looked at. When it came time to pay, luckily I questioned the total because they were going to charge me a couple hundred more than I should have been. He didn't really offer a reason as to why it rang up so much more, but did some random discounts and got it back to the number I had originally figured. My tile was supposed to be in a week later, which was fine. The day they promised it to come in, I hadn't heard anything so I called. They told me that part of my order was in and that the other was back ordered so that it would be in later that week. Not ideal, but fine. I waited until the end of that week and called again and was told that it was still back ordered, but it would be in early the next week, which brings us to this week. I called YET AGAIN and was told that it was a discontinued tile and my original order was sent to a different state and purchased by someone else. He also told me that one store in a different state had as much as I needed, but that I would have to pay over $100 to have it shipped to the current store that I already ordered it at. Keep in mind during all of this, I had already paid IN FULL for all of my items. I called back this morning to talk to a manager and explain everything and he was confused about the whole situation, but said that he'd have a different store ship me the items. Were they ever going to contact me about my tile that was never going to show up? Never once did they call and keep me updated, I constantly had to call them. Each time the guys sounded smug and like they couldn't have cared less. Definitely wanted to like this place since their selection is so good, but I won't ever deal with them again. Very nice selection of tile but if your looking for friendly staff or help this is not the store for you. Iv been in there a few times trying to get some inspiration and there are always employees standing around but not even willing to make eye contact unless you are right in front of them. They clearly don't want to help. I went in there tonight with my family and we went through the whole store without even one hello. After being there for 45 min someone came and asked if we had any questions. I told him what we where looking for and didn't offer much of an opinion. The stood there awkwardly for about 1min. And then said "just to let you know we closed at 6:00 (it was 6:03). So clearly the only time they wanted to talk to us was to get us out of the store. Pathetic customer service. We had gone to a discount place before the Tile Shop....the Tile Shop was head and shoulders above the other offerings. Not only do they offer unusual tiles and ncie designs, they will load your car for you too. The price is a little bit higher than discount shops (but not that much), but for us, the service made it worthwhile. We will definitely return! read more

Not a fan of this place. Salesmen are a little intrusive. Obviously a commission based pay plan. Showroom smells like a cigarette. I've been in there three times and it's smelled every time. Prices are very high for a mostly Chinese product line. You can buy American made products at any of the big box stores why not a place like this? read more
