I've been frequenting Timbers every Friday for their fish fry for the last 8+ years or so. To me, they have the best fish fry in the north woods by far, and it proves that you don't have to go to a fancy supper club to get good eats. The ambiance is a typical north woods bar, you can either eat at the bar or sit at one of the tables in their 'dining room' which houses the slot machines, dart board, and a few other games for kids. They have a wide selection of brews on tap, and have a full bar. The thing that I really love about this place is that everyone who works here is extremely nice. You can tell they love what they do, they're proud of where they live, and they have great senses of humor. Just overall great conversationalists. Now to the food, my favorite part: For appetizers, you HAVE to try their jalapeño poppers. They're the best poppers I've ever had. I believe they are coated in potato breading and they have an awesome zing to them. Never had a popper like it and I'll always compare others to the ones at Timbers. For lunch/dinner, their hamburgers are incredible as well. Super juicy smash burgers on a fluffy bun with the best French fries in the world. A perfect pick me up during snowmobile season or on a nice summer day. On Friday, this is THE spot for fish fry. My family and I have tried so many fish fry places over the year trying to find our favorite, and each time we stray we always leave disappointed wishing we would've just got Timbers instead. To me, what makes their fish fry so great is their portions are extremely generous, you get 4 pieces of fish, a handful of fries, two slices of buttered rye bread, coleslaw, tartar sauce, and a lemon wedge. The way their fish is prepared and battered is my favorite. It doesn't have that super thick, almost pancake batter like breading that tastes like a corn dog. Instead it's very lightly breaded so that it's fish forward with a nice crunch. This is just my preference, but to me, it's the best fish fry I've ever had. I genuinely love this place so much, but I must say that it's obviously super crowded and loud during the tourist seasons. If that bothers you, you can always call in a takeout order so don't like that deter you from checking this place out! read more

Great northwoods bar. 15 minute wait for a carry out even on a busy Friday night during snowmobile season when other restaurants have 30-60 min waits. Great staff. Super friendly even on a packed night. Fun bar to grab a drink! Fried shrimp in the combo were excellent. Corn meal batter carried out very well and maintained its crunch after getting home. And shrimp were large and fresh. Beer battered haddock was good but wouldn't be the best I've had in the area. German potato salad reminded me more of applesauce than potato salad, but not bad... just n my style. Shrimp and fries next time! read more

I have been going here longer than I can remember the food is great and the place is a wonderful local bar the classic Wisconsin fish fry is wonderful here and there's fun machines for the kids and raffles for hats beer and pull tabs. It's always a great experience here and a go too if we need a quick lunch up in the Northwoods the decor is one of a fun local bar and the service is wonderful and always Great. read more

First visit to the Timbers. Jason, recently became the "former owner" and 12 years of ownership, was our server. He was excellent, sharing some of the rich Northwoods history of the Timbers and Elbert's Resort . Welcome to the Northwoods, Timbers is your typical family bar. Some nights it's popping and some nights it's super chill. I'll give the food a tick above typical bar food. Had the rum bucket as a drink and it got the party started! I would definitely recommend. read more

Anytime Jason is behind the bar, it feels just like it used to feel. All over the St G area we've seen so many new bar and restaurant owners, its hard to feel like we are back "up nort dere eh?" like we used to. But Jason lends that old skool atmosphere simply by being there and taking care of the customers like a St G tavern would and should. The burgers and beer are always solid here as were the cheese curds. Solid beer selection for "a shot and a beer" place. Thank the lord that Timbers, Sisters and DJ's haven't changed and that "The Boys" are still welcome on our annual "fishing trip. read more

I'm so glad that this bar was open! We had a group of 16 people and an awful experience at a place down the street. We had 6 starving kids and 10 frustrated adults. They welcomed us even though they were already busy. Took our drink orders right away and gave us some menus! They even let us order the kids meals first so they could eat then go play outside on the playground! read more

First time in this neck of the woods (pun intended!). Out fishing & saw the sign from the lake. We had the fur baby with us so we sat out on the deck. Ordered burgers & both were excellent! Granted I've been eating super healthy lately, but they were really really good! They gave us a pitcher of water which was great. There is a nice playground right off the deck. If you're going to be staying at Elbert's Resort in St. Germain you are so lucky to have this bar within walking (or crawling) distance of your cabin. The new owners Jason and Sarah are among the best people you'll ever meet and run a great establishment. There is a game room with two pool tables, darts, juke box, big screen TV, various gambling games, a claw machine for rescuing helpless stuffed animals, and a chance machine to fuel your habit. This room has pub style tables with chairs for you and all your friends. The main bar area loops around and has TVs there too. Drinks are great like you'd expect and you'll be welcomed like an old friend. Check the website for hours as they change depending on the season. Great pub food too, so take a walk up from the lake and enjoy a cold one and a bucket of greasy goodness. There is also an outdoor patio if you don't want to spend your vacation indoors. Can't wait til snowmobile season to hang out here again! Also, more parking is now available... check out the bar parking signs as you go down the driveway, but be sure not to parallel! Just pull in so as many cars and trucks can fit as possible. P.S. If you're playing pool and you can't find the chalk... check out the nostrils of the moose. This place is garbage. We came for dinner and no one spoke to us at all! No one greeted us or said goodbye. Nothing. It says family friendly, but the music was not. So dirty. Do not bring kids here. Not welcoming at all. We will never go back. Our money will go elsewhere. read more

Went on a Saturday of Wisconsin Badger game - very busy! One bartender (Jason) and he kept up quite well with the bar and the dining room. He always had a smile on his face and never let you feel as if you were a bother. Ordered a bacon cheeseburger and was impressed with the large juicy patty! Nueske's bacon is always a perfect compliment to any dish, especially a cheese burger! Large burger with fries for $8.50 - well worth the price. read more

Our snowmobiling group from Minneapolis and Rochester, MN has been frequenting the Elberts and now Timbers Bar and Grill for close to 40 years straight and have nothing but POSITIVE comments for our review!! My steak sandwich was great. I went with a friend and my 1.5 year old son (not many family friendly options for the Saint Germain area that I could find online... and I'm not from the area so I didn't know what to expect). My friend said her burger was great as well but the bartender forgot to put our order in until we mentioned something 50 minutes later.
