It was very first time at the pub n prime. As soon as we walked in we got seated. The waitress took our order for drinks and then came back and delivered them. Then a few minutes later she came and took our order for our food. Everything was fast at first, but it took forever to get the food. It took hours. Then when I asked for a refill the waitress brought it but then spilled it on my chair and it dripped down and got on me. I totally understand that accidents happen, but she could have at least apologized or helped me clean it up. The food was fine, it wasn't horrible, but nothing special. Someone in my family had a meal that came with fries. I tried a couple and they were super mushy and definitely not fresh. Walking in, it was great. They needed to wait for another waitress before seating us, no problem. Sat at the bar ordered drinks. They had crackers and spreadable cheese at the bar. 100% so far. We were seated and orders placed. Salad bar was phenomenal. Soups were great. I ordered prime rib and wife orederd the flounder. I'm 50, been eating steaks and prime rib all over WI. It's been 5 years since I last set foot in this place. Swore I'd never come back because the owner was so rude when we were there. The only good part of our visit then was our waitress and the food. Due to weather we ended up here tonight. The bartender was the best part of our night. Lynn was fantastic. Friendly. Professional. We discovered she had also been our waitress five years ago too. Now to the food today. The worst prawns I have ever had. Over done, dry and tough not to mention so small. This place is so cute! The main attraction: the salad and soup bar. WOW. I truly wish i would have skipped my entree and just got the salad bar. It has tons of options pasta salad, build your own salad, tons of toppings. At the end they have a handful of homemade salad dressings and they each are delicious. The soups? It was a beef and barely and a cream of mushroom that day. I will be dreaming of this cream of mushroom soup until i come back next time. It was heavenly. They also have tons of crackers and homemade buns and rolls to go with your soup! For my entree i got the cheeseburger... i won't lie i was completely underwhelmed first bite. It was SO salty i could not eat it. The fries were good. My husband got the prime rib which didn't look the best when they brought it out but he said it was amazing!! Kiddie cocktails in wisco you just can't go wrong. Service was okay. There is NO kid menu just an FYI. They did bring our son a coloring book and crayons which was nice. I've been wanting to stop in here for a while. There are a lot of mixed reviews for Pub' n Prime which made it hard for me to figure out if I should give it a try. Pub' n Prime is pretty old school looking. I love the mid-century modern looking decor that meets northwoods. There is a cool outside tiki bar that we didn't take advantage of but it was going strong out there. My party sat at the bar for a drink. Cheese spread and crackers on the bar. Very nice. Standard Wisconsin drinks including ice cream drinks are available as well as tropical "slushy" drinks. The staff was great! Super friendly. We had curds and onion strings for appetizers. There were enough for the 5 of us. Our server, Mary was helpful with the menu and we ordered Broasted Chicken...1/2 a chicken. Very moist. Light crunchy breading. Ribs. Nice big slab of fall off (with a nudge) the bone. Nice sweet sauce. Orange Whisky Chicken. A boneless breast grilled and served in a sweet orange sauce. Shrimp. Fried. Pretty basic but good. Prim Rib. It was reported to be a bit salty but it looked good. The sides of asparagus could have been a bit bigger but they were prepared well and tasted good. One of the nicest things is the salad bar of which one trip is included with each entree. Two soups, bread, rolls, green salad mix with all the extras, pasta salad, bean salad, nice choice of dressings. It's great to have salad bars making a comeback. We ordered one piece of homemade Carrot Cake for dessert and it was fabulous! And on top of being a very clean restaurant the bathrooms were also very nice! Pub' n Prime is worth a try. We wanted a supper club on a Sunday and that is a hard find in the north woods. I am so glad we went to pub n prime. My filet was not in expensive but it was awesome. I ate it with mushrooms and the juice from my wife's prime rib. Her prime rib was great. The salad bar hit the spot too. The bartender was friendly, as was our waitress. We have been here several times we came in for drinks. The old fashioneds were good. However, I learned that once you finish with the cheese and crackers, they turn it around and add more crackers and give it to the next person. Not very sanitary especially since people were coughing etc. . They should consider using small bowls with the cheese not big soup cups so they can give it each group the toss what is left. We'll be back but if they continue to pass the cheese around, I will decline it but I do look forward to that. read more

Our vacation experience was just what we were looking for! We ordered a delicious Friday fish fry and prime rib...both quite delicious! The service was quite swell & complementary, we were able to have a quieter adult dinner, and the prices were worth it! We ordered the 8 oz prime rib this past week for $45 each. First the price was astonishing - way higher than 2 years ago when we were there. When the prime rib arrived we were very disappointed! It was barely 1/2" thick, swimming in au jus and not even close to an 8 oz piece! We had no more than 10 bites of prime rib from each order. Very much a rip off!! I try to review restaurants when I really like them to balance the negativity I read when I think something is good. This is not one of those times. I will likely not return to Pub b Prime due my experience last evening. We arrived at 5:30 for our 6pm reservation. We were told they don't normally take reservations but since we were a party of 7 they allowed it. Our first encounter was the hostess asking several times if our entire party was here. Yes, we're sure of it, we came in one car. We ordered a drink at the Tiki bar. I guess we were wrong when we left the tab open. The hostess came to seat us and scolded both us and the young bartender for having a tab open for a party that was waiting for a table. It was a very uncomfortable moment. But wait- it doesn't stop there. We were led to our table where we were once again treated like children. She explain the "no phones" rule and that there is a $50 charge if we're caught and to be sure we understood, she let us know where all of the cameras are and she'll be watching. Ridiculous! We were 5 adults and two teenagers. We had our soup and salad bar. It was good except one of the soups. We told the waiter it was way too salty and he informed us that everyone complains, but they won't change it. We waited over an hour after our salad plates were cleared... no food, no drink refills, no phones. So, like normal bored people we started playing with our surroundings. You can make an ice cube go pretty high in the air when bounced off of a fork. Finally drink refills, the waiter took our order and said our food would be another 10 minutes. It was close to 90 minutes from when we ordered and the food came. It was ok. Three of the 7 people were not excited about their entree, but it was time to get out of there! Sitting here as I reevaluate my recent encounters I come to think this place might have more to offer than $2 margaritas as advertised on the sign as I've seen countless times since 2014 or thereabouts. Not impressed with our experience tonight. Yes, the salad bar is great. Yes, the soup is delicious. Yes, the restaurant has been renovated and it's beautiful inside. But, the entrees are overpriced and lack any sort of presentational "Wow! I can't wait to eat this!" My $22 broasted chicken was super greasy. So much so that I had to wipe my mouth after eating it because of dripping grease. I complained, but nothing was done by our server or manager. Unfortunately, they're losing another customer. The good This restaurant offers a nice menu and a Salad Bar which is a rare delight. My bride loves the salad bar and the good reviews led us there for our 45th anniversary. The decor is bright and modern with a touch of old charm. The wait staff was attentive and cooperative in serving thier customers. When in rome... we ordered the Prime rib, hers with baked and mine with "wild rice". We started with the salad bar which had many nice offerings including herring, dried cranberry, cottage cheese and soups. I had the beef barley which was a meal in itself, my wife had the cream of mushroom which was a literal description, heavy on the cream. Too rich for her. When the meal arrived we could see immediately that the prime was well done. The bad Being early in the evening we were disappointed that a medium cut was not easy to slice. My wild rice was actually Uncle Bens mix and it was cold. I reordered the mashed potatoes which were very good.0 Both of our steaks had the flavor of liver. This has been a common problem with Angus beef. But my understanding if the meat is processed properly, avoidable. I brought it to the attention of our excellent server but to my disappointment the reply from the chef was "order a different cut next time". Went with a group of 6. The service was great with a waitress that knows how to give great service. The appetizers were fantastic. Onion hay stack and calamari which was a great taste for all. One in our group ordered the broasted chicken which takes a little longer but was a good size portion and very good. The prime rib was tender and a good portion cooked perfectly. A real Wisconsin supper club. Great drinks and surprisingly good wine options, expansive fresh salad bar, superb freshly made soups (2), well prepared entrees and sides, and a home made carrot cake worth every calorie. The place is very clean and tables comfortably spaced. Wait staff attentive and friendly. The hostess made us feel like neighbors, not tourists. We felt so at home that we ate there 3 times in a week. The long, low building does not stand out but a new sign is on the way and that will help to find it. Con's - Prime rib overpriced, low quality not slow roasted 12 ounce was $55, don't mind paying the price but that wasn't the case was sitting in a strange house made au jus not sure if I was tasting soy sauce should be on the side, chopped steak was dry, overcooked and had a grill flavor to it.
