Great food, good service, and a fun atmosphere! They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. Outside boasts a stage for live performances and room for outdoor play. I would recommend this place

This place is the most kid friendly, dog friendly and parent friendly place with good food ever. Before we even got food, I was in shock. It's a fenced in outdoor eating place with a plot of grass and a hill for playing! Dog bowls and dog treats available! Cute tables everywhere and then we finally made it inside. The only waiter/bartender there (Poor guy was so busy, but killing it!). The inside is cute and has a great atmosphere. Lots of alcoholic drink options as well. All the food we got was perfect for what we needed! Corn dogs, burgers and sandwiches! And Zappa potato chips with french onion dip! Perfecto! I wish they had a place like this in New Orleans. We would go regularly. I love it!

The bar is what attracts most people to The Tipping Point but they have a solid small menu as well. We went during the lunch hour for a quick bite to eat. They have a few different seating areas - a lounge, high top tables and chairs, a bar, and outdoors. We sat inside andwere one of four parties in the restaurant at the time so we had excellent service from the bartender. After getting our drinks, we ordered a burger and a flatbread. The smash burger can be customized and it comes with chips, slaw, or tots. I chose the tots and then upgraded them to a smaller portion of the tachos. We got a flatbread with pepperoni and bacon. As we waited for our food, we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the three tv displays. The food was served hot and it was actually very good. I kept the burger toppings classic with cheese, spinach, tomatoes, and grilled onions. I liked that they toasted the hamburger bun and that they seasoned the burger. I even saw salt and pepper sprinkled on the tomatoes! This burger was simple but very satisfying. The tachos were advertised as having cheese, bacon bits, pickled jalapeños, and sour cream. We were told that the jalapeños were still being pickled but there was no mention of where the bacon was. The mostly cheesy tots topped with sour cream were a little softer than I thought they would be. They didn't have that great crunch on them and they needed some salt, which I'm assuming the bacon usually added. The flatbread was quickly devoured. This is a great spot in The Hampstead for food and drinks and to hangout. They offer live music on some nights and they have bottles of wine for purchase. The food here is very reasonably priced, which makes the value excellent.

The Tipping Point is a bar and restaurant which serves regular bar food. I did not try any of the drinks the time that I visited. The ambiance is quite nice. It's pretty well lit for a bar and spacious with high ceilings. There's an outside area like a porch with a hill for kids to play on and it is also dog friendly. We came with a big group on a Thursday evening. Everyone in our group arrived at slightly different times and we split up and sat at two adjacent tables. My part of the large group arrived at around 6:30 and ordered maybe 10 minutes later. The waiters took our credit cards at the beginning which makes sense for a group our size and the fact that we were likely to pay individually. I rarely get too upset at long waits at restaurants and poor service. I know that big groups can get the kitchen slower - but I still did have a pretty negative experience given that the night was not busy at all at the restaurant, and that the food to prepare was very simple and didn't seem to need much prep time to make. Although one of our tables in the group sat down first, we got food much, much later that the table that arrived later. It actually took 40 minutes after I sat down to get my appetizer, which was right after the other table already finished their dessert. Several people in the group also got wrong orders. My own order did not get the onion topping that I asked for. Another person in the group waited 1 whole hour and 8 minutes after sitting down until he got his food. It shouldn't take more than an hour to make a sandwich. And he had to go back inside and ask the waiter if they forgot his food (they did forget to start making it until he asked). Onto the food - The food was just OK. It was not bad food, and it probably does go well with the drinks (that we didn't have). The frito pie was inexpensive and had a good taste, but the melted cheese was pretty dry and stringy. The chili dog I got had an odd choice of bun. While the bun was pretty soft, I thought it was too large in comparison to the hot dog. The chili dog chili could have used more kick or spicy flavor too. I didn't hate the food at the Tipping Point though, and the price was inexpensive. Really the main point was the very slow service that the restaurant should work on.

What a dope spot! Great beers on tap and delicious food . Pretty hip on the inside with some board games. The outside has those German beer garden tables and plenty of seating. Live music and a kids hill to play on. Can't wait to make my way over here again!

Does this place take reservations for a group of 30? (non private event)

They do their best to take reservations of all sizes if you give them advance notice. I was present with a group of 20 and they had plenty of patio space to push more tables together.

My wife did two…read moredifferent AI restaurant searches and Martha's Place came up on both searches, as highly recommended and one of the best-known country cooking / soul food spots in Montgomery. Martha's Place it is... Upon arrival, Martha's place looked very upscale. Very nice building and many Mercedes and Cadillacs were parked out front. We started to wonder if we'd wandered into some rich neighborhood where the prices would be sky high! We walked in and a young lady greeted us and told us that lunch was $14 including a drink. GREAT! Everyone in the restaurant was amiable and helpful. (Staff and customers). We went to the buffet and loaded our plates with beautifully fried chicken and meatloaf for our proteins. For our sides we had collards, mashed potatoes, black eyed peas a couple of pieces of cornbread and some banana pudding for dessert. Then, the first weird thing happened. As we took our seats, the waiter that helped us get seated, told us that they only had one fork and one knife. We assumed he meant he would go back to the kitchen (or the dishwasher, or wherever) and get us another set. Meanwhile, the food looked SO GOOD, we immediately began sharing the fork and taking turns. MAN! THIS FOOD WAS GREAT! After a couple of minutes, we noticed the second weird thing... we were the only two white folks in the entire, crowded restaurant. And there were LOTS OF PEOPLE. They also do a huge to go business, so, the buffet station stays pretty busy with people coming and going. But, during the entire time we were there, there was not a single non-black customer in the house, except us. Not an employee. Not a customer. Not even a to go customer, just passing through - NOBODY. After about 5 or 6 minutes of taking turns with the fork, we decided our server must've forgotten about us. So, my wife went and asked and was informed they still didn't have any forks. (No. We were not being singled out, as my wife heard them tell another customer the same thing.) My wife asked if they had some plastic utensils, used for to go orders. They were able to oblige. Back to the food... The fried chicken was as good as any I've ever had and much better than any I've had in recent memory. The vegetables were also seasoned and prepared as good as any I've ever had - in a restaurant OR at home. The cornbread didn't have real corn in it, (like I prefer) but it was still some KILLER CORNBREAD. And the nanner puddin' was off the charts. I REALLY WANT some more of that nanner puddin'!! The staff were friendly and helpful and I have no idea why we were the only white folks in attendance. Maybe it was just a weird coincidence. But, I'll tell you this. The nice people at this restaurant KNOW HOW TO COOK. And I highly recommend this restaurant to ANYBODY -- No matter what color you are! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience and we look forward to dining there again, the next time we pass through Montgomery. Go here. You won't get a better country meal - anywhere. P.S. You might want to bring a fork.

The service here was a little slow, but it looked like one man was doing everything with one woman helping with bringing out food and cleaning plates. The man was very attentive and brought everything we needed and got every order perfect, there were just really long wait times between appearances. We ordered sweet and spicy rice cakes as an appetizer, dumpling soup (for the kids), kimchi soup for me, and soybean paste soup for my husband. The banchan came out first. I'm used to all cold dishes, but the fish cakes and one other one came out warm. They were all good, but the cucumbers were a hit for me and my husband, the broccoli/apple/carrot salad was my girls' favorite. We had never tried the rice cakes before, but super glad we did because I'm pretty sure they were our actual favorite item of the evening. The soups all came out still bubbling. The kimchi soup was exactly what I wanted, and exactly what you'd expect for a steaming hot juicy bowl of kimchi soup. So good! I didn't care for my husband's soy bean paste soup, but he ate it over steamed rice and ate the rice cakes on the side and loved it. Both girls liked the dumplings and rice cakes in the dumpling soup, but they liked the broth the most. They didn't care for the egg noodles very much though. The kids did get a kick out of the curtains on the booth. It was a little more expensive than I expected, but we ordered three dishes that I'm pretty sure could have been shared by 2 people each, and we all have leftover for tomorrow now.

Now, I don't know what has happened since then, but something did. To begin with, the place always looked "used". It had been there a long time and that's expected but this time the chairs looked badly worn and the carpet was in need of help. But it looked clean over all. The workers were friendly but very busy. They had a teenage boy who seated us who was in need of some grooming. But he was polite, so we let it slide. The waitress was very casual and nice as well. But it looked like this one poor lady was handling the entire side of the place by herself. I can overlook all of the above if the food is good but... To begin with, I ordered the same meal I ate in 2021 and yes, I remembered it! As a turkey lover, I recalled it as a Thanksgiving kind of meal that I enjoyed which was why I ordered it again. It was billed on the menu as: Sliced turkey, stuffing, three sides and cranberry sauce. I could eat Thanksgiving 365! And that first time was like reliving Thanksgiving at Moms. Not this time. Aside from being out of broccoli (which limited the green sides down to green beans and/or collard greens- which I do not like) there was an issue with things not being as presented in the menu. The "stuffing" or "dressing" was a small heap of mushy something. It was thin, watery and bland. Horrible! The "sliced turkey" was fractured white meat of turkey, fractured so much that it seemed to meld into the mushy dressing. The two were undiscernable. And it, too, was bland. There was something they called turkey gravy but it was definitely a canned or otherwise prepackaged gravy: bright yellow in color and gloppy in texture. The mashed potatoes were fine, a little salty but fine, though I am not sure if they were homemade or from mix or what. The "green beans" were not what I had before. Before I had what, at worst, had been frozen green beans, though well-seasoned and cooked through. This time I was given Italian beans from a can that had no flavor to them. And then there was the mac n cheese. The test of a good Mom and Pop place is the M&C and this batch failed. Over cooked elbow macaroni in a non-saucy glob of light orange gunk that tasted like flour and not cheesy at all. If that sounds bad, worse was the pie. They used to serve cake and some damn good cake, too! But we were told today they serve pies. I ordered the lemon meringue. I make lemon meringue pie so I know fully well what one should taste and look like and this was NOT it! The fill looked like leftover banana pudding with the bananas extracted. It wasn't set and the meringue slid off of it. The meringue itself had a wateriness that I couldn't quite figure out but it was lightly toasted on top. The corn muffins were good, though they could have gone without being dunked in butter. Over all, I cannot give this place the report I would have liked to have given a landmark in Montgomery. Its sad, too.

Interesting. During our last two visits--despite the restaurant not being very busy--service was slow and lacked urgency. Drinks were slow to arrive, sometimes missing, and often left empty. The ambiance is typical for a BBQ restaurant, but the space could benefit from better cleaning and a more vibrant reorganization. Our group of 12 was seated in the back, which felt more like a storage area or a closet than a proper dining space. This focus should and does translate into good results, but it is a work in progress. I came here with two friends and we were in agreement this is a great place for breakfast and brunch, but also in agreement their coffee and tea game could be stepped up. There are no real hot tea choices and the coffee is a bit on the weak side. There is also no iced tap water, only bottled water to pour over ice. They only charge a buck for the water, but it is a consideration. I ordered the shrimp and grits with a side of bacon, which I highly recommend. The grits have a creamy consistency aided with lots of cheese and butter, the latter of which is great for flavor, but could be restrained a bit. You are not here to count the calories. There are a decent number of shrimp atop, with proper Cajun seasoning befitting the eponymously named and New Orleans styled Jazz restaurant. The side of bacon, which came out in a caramelized semicrisp state, complimented the shrimp and added its own savory flavor to put it over the top for me. Jazzy's New Orleans underpinning was consistent in its flavor profile across all our dishes. The Cajun seasoning was evident in the Salmon Croquettes and the Fish and Grits my friends ordered. Everything received positive reviews, save for the pancakes one of my friends ordered on the side, which were considered mildly positive, and the Croquettes, which were a bit too heavily seasoned with the increased sodium content. Prices are reasonable and, after all is said and done, each person will come to about thirty bucks, including the tip, which is automatically charged at fifteen percent. Service was good, but this automatic gratuity charge is a practice I do not like and is reflected in my review rating, but do not let that dissuade you from coming here. 3.5 stars!

However, my experience and thoughts about Jazzy's would begin to shift right there. The waitress was very friendly and patient. I ordered the Big Breakfast with eggs, grits, potatoes and chicken wings. My guest ordered red velvet waffles and a breakfast skillet. It took quite a while, especially for the lack of patrons in the restaurant. However, when the food came, it more than solved and lingering issues I may have been pondering about Jazzy's. The food was amazing!!! The waffles and pancakes were delicious. The eggs and grits took me back to grandma's kitchen table. And the wings??? Come on Jazzy's y'all showed out with the wings. Everything was right on point. Also, I think it's important to note, the size of the portions given will more than make up for any potential pause given by the prices on the menu. I went with the daily special - pineapple upside down cake - and red velvet. The cheesecake slices were $5.15 each, which was perhaps a little hefty for the size of the slice but still reasonable I thought. The pineapple upside down cake cheesecake came out hot. I was told that the cake portion had just been baked. I must admit that it looked very different than what I was imagining it to look like (i.e. Cheesecake Factory) as the cake was falling apart. We refrigerated it for a few hours before trying it so that the cheesecake portion would be cold. While good, this dessert very much looked and tasted like cake and not cheesecake. There was also a texture issue for me as it was all very soft versus having distinct cake and cheesecake textures. We thought that the red velvet cheesecake was more successful. It was rich and creamy and the red velvet flavor came through nicely. The slice held up well and had a nice Oreo crust. It was perfectly baked. We were rushing some so I didn't see the full menu. Next time, I'd love to try the soul food egg rolls!

I'm not sure why, but I've been thinking a lot about my time as a student in Alabama. As a lonely…read moreCalifornia transplant years ago, I remember feeling a little uneasy about the prospect of being in such a new place without any of my normal comforts -- including my favorite places to get comfort food. Naturally, one of the first things I did was seek out some new local places to fill the role of my favorite spots back home. This search led me right to The Cheesecake Empori-Yum; after all, what could possibly be more comforting than a cheesecake? I can definitely say that I found what I was looking for. I may have had better cheesecake experiences in the past, but certainly not by much -- it's hard to exaggerate how good the cheesecakes are here. I might recommend trying the original in addition to any specialty slices you order, just to give yourself a benchmark. The last time I visited, I went with the Reese's cheesecake -- peanut butter fiend that I am, I ordered a peanut butter cheesecake with chocolate crust, crushed Reese's Cups, and chocolate drizzle was only right. It was wonderfully dense and beautifully creamy, just as always. I did wish that the peanut butter flavor of the cheesecake itself came through more, though; the peanut butter notes were overshadowed a bit by the stronger chocolate flavor from the crust/drizzle. Although the cheesecakes are fantastic, I think the best part of all is the amazingly friendly service. You often here the phrase "service with a smile," but here you will find that to the tenth degree. The owner is so very friendly, and it's evident she puts her heart and soul into everything she makes. A little shop with a big heart... you can tell each item is made with love. Come by for a slice... or three. I won't judge.
