This establishment is fantastic! Between the service and the food, I can't complain about a single thing! We came with 6 adults and 5 kids and they were so gracious to accommodate our wild party. At night, this is a happening place to be, with over 30 specialty beers. During the afternoon, it is VERY family friendly...in fact when we arrived, a baby shower was just wrapping up. We ordered from every section of the menu, my very finicky Mother was thrilled with the pimento cheese mini sandwiches and the little bits loved the pulled pork (although the 6 yo thought it was a bit "spicy"). I had the trio and enjoyed the curried chicken salad, hummus and cucumber, tomato, feta salad. I had to fight my hubby off of my curried chicken salad. But I stole half of his Carolina Dog (a dog without equal) so I can't really complain. I was beyond impressed with The Tipping Point and will stop here every time I visit Montgomery. STAY AWAY. Here from out of town, loaded our baby up and drove all the way from Prattville specifically for this restaurant based on reviews. Arrived at 1:30 PM and restaurant may have been at 1/5 capacity, if that. RUDE Hostess approached us after we waited about 5 minutes inside and said they kitchen was closed, so we could just get drinks or dips and that's it. Dumbfounded, I asked when it would be back open in case we could wait a bit, and she said she didn't know. She said they had too many to go orders that they needed to focus on. POOR MANAGEMENT, maybe don't take so many to go orders that you have to turn customers away who drove 30 minutes and would have paid for beers plus food plus tip. The hostess didn't even APOLOGIZE. Things happen, so if you mess up as a business, offer the customers you are now turning away a coupon for next time, OR AT THE LEAST AN APOLOGY, and we would have been more understanding. Nice selection of beers, but don't know about food or service since we waited in line for over twenty minutes, but since there is more of a 'crowd at the bar' than an actual line, it is really the luck of the draw if anyone will take your order. Seating is very, very limited, and the only attraction seems to be a small dirt hill for the kids to play on and the fact that they allow dogs. So I guess if you want to drink and have burgers with your dog and children, then this is your place. I just don't get the mix of a playground with a bar!?! The hype about this place is WAY over-rated. The management really needs to get a handle on how to effectively train servers and how to handle more than one customer at a time. I really love the establishments in Hampstead. This is a great place to hang out for a cool drink with some great friends. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. They serve up some great smoothies and sandwiches, (a bit skimpy but good) which are made with fresh, artisanal bread from Ham and High. They had live music when we were there one afternoon. Sam and Amanda are great people that make you feel neighborly and welcomed! I've patronized the Tip about four or five times and each time is different and better. There was a band one night while my daughter slid down a hill with other kids with card board. Oh the simple life. Then once we left the sprinkler system at the fountain washed off the dirt from the hill. I paused and remembered my childhood. It was priceless. Great place to relax and have a beer. On our first visit we were treated very well and were made to feel at home by the bartender and bar manager. We had conversation as if we knew them for years. Both the manager and the bartender really know their stuff. The beer selection can be daunting but after letting them know what I like to drink they suggested several different beers and surprisingly I liked them all! It can get a bit loud with children outside on the weekends but it's cool to see the kids having fun playing on the "hill" out there. The food is excellent! So, for montgomery, this place was great. Beer selection was superb. The only key con is that they 'seem' to not be able to flex for surges in people or large crowds. I'm not really sure what to make of this place; way out in the middle of nowhere in a very swanky, brand new neighborhood (compound?). The Tipping Point gives off the feeling of being a Country Club without the golf and tennis courts. The restaurant itself is nice; clean lines, nice bar, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating (great place to bring the kids to play). Sat down at the bar and they have an impressive selection of bottled beer and about 5-6 on tap and also served food. The place was about half-full on a Thursday evening even though Auburn was playing that evening. Had a good IPA from Blue Pants Brewery (Alabama brewery) and ordered some food from the kitchen; menu is more along the lines of bar food vs. big plates so went with the "Southern Press" (chicken, bacon, pimento cheese) and the Pork Clouds as a side. Strangely, the Pork Clouds turned out to be a bag of pork rinds vs. homemade ones from the restaurant which is what I was expecting. Turns out they don't make most of their sides; most are in bags (really? seems like a cop out for a place that is trying to be upscale). The sandwich was good but somewhat on the small side for $8. All in all, not a bad place but unless I lived in the area, don't think I'd go out of my way to go back again. read more

The food was ok. Nothing spectacular. I went with my sister and nephew on a Saturday night. It wasn't super busy, but there was no space for the three of us inside so we ended up sitting outside. Our waitress came and took our order for drinks and an appetizer right away. And that was all we saw of her for about an hour. About 10 minutes after we got our drinks, someone else ( I think the manager) took our order. After about 45 minutes we still hadn't received our food. Then the waitress finally came back out and asked if we needed anything. We said our food and she seemed surprised. 15 minutes later we finally got our food. I had the Chicago dog. I specifically ordered "Well" bourbon and coke (the waitress asked what kind of bourbon and I said "WELL") and when I got my bill I was charged for Maker's Mark. I talked to the Manager or Owner, not sure and he said if I had Makers Mark on my bill then that is what I was served. Was not able to politely reason with him, so I paid the $50 bill. I've been to The Tipping Point a half dozen times, mostly to watch US Soccer matches. The atmosphere is always great. It's no wonder why a ton of US Soccer supporters gathered there whenever there is a game on. The beer selection is huge! Dozens and dozens of beers available in cans and bottles, and several craft brews on tap. The food is labeled as "bar food" and includes gourmet hotdogs, sandwiches and appetizers. Although it may seem mundane, the food is actually quite delicious, and is crafted with a unique flare that keeps me coming back. The bar tenders and employees are very friendly and helpful, and are always game to suggest a new brew to try. It's got a big open yard surrounded by a fence, which seems to be ideal for parents of young kids, as the children can play in a safe environment, while the parents relax and enjoy a meal. Last Friday I invited some friends and family to dinner at the tipping point. after a night of eating and drinking I did not receive an itemized receipt and had to take their word for the total. however after many mistakes with our order I was a little skeptical. Additionally, after being very impaired I did not realize that on top of everything the tip or gratuity was included in my bill. I ended up tipping twice on a 600 dollar bill. I would expect that someone would have alerted me of that. The next day when I discovered it upon inspection of the receipt and I requested a refund for the tip. The manager informed me that it was a simple miscommunication with their employee but I am 100% certain that the server was fully aware that I had unknowingly tipped twice. I have eaten there before and they have never automatically charged for the tip. be careful because these people will pull a fast one on you. food was good..... not that good but ok.. food was ok. read more
