I've been coming here for about 4 years. They have a great wine selection from small vineyards and a small but well curated liquor selection. They also have some great community events. Unfortunately when coming here yesterday to redeem a gift card I was given, the cashier told me it had already been redeemed (although I still had the original receipt, card and note for $50 in my possession without any mark ups from the store) and promptly ripped it up. I had not redeemed the gift card so I'm not sure what went wrong, but I do wish they would have helped try to trouble shoot with me before ripping everything up. I definitely would recommend against purchasing a gift card here. Leaving four stars for my other experiences here but I was very disappointed in my most recent experience. read more

This place is really special. What I love most about A Grape Pear is that you could spend $70 or $17 on a bottle of wine and they will both be of excellent quality. Last week I got a 1-liter $16 bottle of Riesling and it was excellent. The owner really knows how to pick which wines to stock. I'm leaving this review after only visiting once and I will definitely be back. read more

This wine store is a gem. I am not a wine expert, I just know what I like. The owner helps me to pick out a wine that will suit my taste. She always tells me about new wines that have come in, so I don't get stuck on the same thing over and over. We have never had a bad wine selection. I enjoy trying new things. The wines that the owner chooses are very 'clean'. No additives like in other wines, that will give me a headache. I know I can purchase something from this store and not worry about how it will affect my system. The owner is also keeps our price point in mind. The store carries wines in all price ranges. The store is now also carrying spirits. I have tried a few and have never been disappointed. Went in the other day looking for some good bottle of wines. I had no clue what was good vs bad. I asked the owner who was extremely polite and knowledgeable if she could help me out. She must have spent about 15 minutes with me educating me on the types of wines. I ended up buying 6 bottles. I can't say enough about what a wonderful experience I had. A Grape Pear has made Eastport a better place. Once in awhile you discover a gem. There are several wine stores in the area, however, not many are as dedicated to stocking their store with excellent wines and spirits as A GRAPE PEAR. The owner, too, is extremely knowledgeable of her stock. Ask her anything that sits on her shelf and she will give her personal review. How is she able to do that? She doesn't depend on her suppliers for a review, she has tasted everything for herself - what nice way to spend the week! Please shop elsewhere. After specifically asking whether they could ship a gift item to another State, and being assured by the salesperson that this was not a problem, the proprietor then refused to cancel the sale after they discovered that this particular State does not accept shipments of alcohol. The owner indicated that the wine was "a collector's item" and could not be restocked; this is ridiculous as the wine never left their store. read more
