Overall wonderful views of PV from The Top Sky bar. We decided to come for brunch since we were staying around the corner in an AirBnB. The service was pleasant, food was decent, views were amazingly good. The sky bar area had several instagramable spots throughout the deck for those "moments" you want and the views were great. I'm sure this place is super packed during sunsets but when we came for brunch, it was nice and quiet/mellow (which is perfect for what we wanted) - it was also on a Monday, so maybe a lot of people were traveling in/out or recovering from their weekend? read more

The view was great, but that's honestly all I can rave about. Only had drinks and they were alright. Not bad, but not worth the high cost. Some say the fee is for the views, but with all the other option in the area, I find it hard to justify. Service by the resort staff was good. People seemed friendly. The best part about this restaurant was the view of the ocean. Though we visited during the morning, I can imagine it would be a great place to view the sunset. We visited the Almar Resort for a five day stay and, after a long day of flight delays, arrived at sunset. Not wanting to go out on the town, we decided to stay in and visit the Top Sky Bar. The view out over the bay is amazing especially as the sun sets. But that was the only amazing part of this bar. The food is incredibly bad, as in inedible. We ordered a hamburger and bruschetta. The hamburger was done on the outside but raw inside and not just the center. The bruschetta was as if someone piled salad on top of a piece of Wonder bread. Total crap. We didn't intend to dine there again, but our timeshare presentation included breakfast which was served in the bar. Food was not as bad as the first night but very underwhelming. My omelet was the thinnest I've ever seen with slices of ham from a stack of Oscar Meyer sandwich meat. The prices are absurd for this slop. AVOID. read more

This was an interesting place. Sits on top of the hill overlooking the ocean. Views simply can't be beat! As far as the food, it was average at best and the service was painfully slow. But the whole vibe of the place was energetic! It's worth a try for breakfast or brunch and make sure you bring a good camera for those views. read more

Recently we stayed at Almar and decided to take advantage of the rooftop restaurant and bar. The views are amazing. You can see for miles. The food was good each time. The only thing lacking was the service and the consistency of the drinks. We had amazing service half the time and so so the other half. One night we had the best drinks of our trip so far and the second we had to send a drink back. Then they had the gall to charge us for the drink that was sent back even though it wasn't replaced. Being forced to pay for something I didn't get and only when it's contested when the bill is presented you offer to replace it but not remove it from the bill is unacceptable anywhere. We were told this was a fabulous place to go to see the sunset, and I have dinner. I will have to agree that seeing the sunset here was truly amazing. But drinks and dinner that's all another thing. When we arrived, we decided we'd have a cocktail. I ordered a dirty martini, and it was more dirty, than martini. It is the first time in my life I've ever gotten a martini with more olive juice than anything else and olives with pits. We decided not to eat there as the menu was so different from the menu shown online, and it was really nothing on it that appealed to me for dinner. Once we got there, I realized that it was more of a drag club than a dinner house and apparently they have great drag shows. So if you want to be on the top of the world, is he a drag show, don't really care about your drink or your food, then this is the place. read more

If you're looking for a place to watch an epic sunset that's not on the beach, then this rooftop bar is the place to be. I came on a weekday in October and the place was very quiet, with the exception of 2 other individuals. This bar is located in a hotel so you'll need to go into the hotel to take the elevators up. The menu for food was limited and the drink selection was pretty standard. However everything tasted fresh, and had amazing presentation. We stayed through sunset and really got to drink in the views next to the windowed sides, watched some storm clouds roll in and waited in anticipation for the rain that ever came. Was surprised by a live show that took place later on that night. Overall great atmosphere, killer views, I wish I could go back soon. read more

So full disclosure; breakfast here was included for us as part of a package deal, with a five-night star for Thanksgiving/White Party Weekend, so we had our first meal of the day here, every day, for the duration of our stay. We also lounged a bit while they were cleaning our room, one day, and we popped in briefly for an opening party for the White Party at 9pm one night, though that was a bit early and I think we missed the primetime of said event. The servers were all really pleasant, doting, delightful. The design was on-point. The views were amazing. The food was absolutely wonderful for inclusive-with-the-package, though there are a couple of amazing breakfast places in town that arguably have better food, if we were wanting to forego our comped breakfasts in lieu of paying for it elsewhere (which we weren't). Honestly one of my favorite places to spend an hour, each morning, in the whole of Puerto Vallarta. read more

Very nice rooftop restaurant/bar within an LGBT resort. My girlfriend and I visited twice during our week stay in PV. Our first time the kitchen was closing so we only had cocktails, and the second time we had breakfast x drinks (at noon, lunch doesn't start til 1). Both times the service was great. Team effort by the staff, we had multiple people checking in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Cocktails were great! Their drink menu has obviously had some thought and love put into it as I saw a lot of new combinations. I ordered the Jon Kortajatena both visits cause I liked it so much! During our breakfast visit I had breakfast enchiladas with steak sans egg, and my gf the chilaquiles. We were both impressed with our meals and of course the sweeping view of PV's beach(es). This place is everything! Located inside the hotel on the 13th floor, this place never disappoints. Excellent service, amazing sunset views, comfortable seating - it's the place to be. The drinks and food is definitely on the $$ side, so it's certainly a treat even by US standards. I love watching their mega TV for RuPaul's Drag Race (perfect sound and quality) and they even feature quite a bit of great entertainment in between. I went here twice on my last trip and wish I had come even more. Check it out! read more

The view is fantastic and the amenities are great. Bar service, however, is questionable! I ordered a cocktail and had to send it back after a sip because the bartender did the worst job making a dirty Hendricks martini for me. All you tasted was terrible olive juice and none of the top shelf gin. When I sent it back, they told me I had to pay for the drink I returned AND pay for the replacement. What?! After i contested, stating that a customer shouldn't have to pay for a drink they're unsatisfied with, because the bartender did a terrible job making, they brought me a new drink, but with less alcohol to compensate for the sip I took. SMH... Almar, if a customer is unhappy with your bartender you shouldn't penalize your customer for it. It's just bad business! read more

The service up at the 13th floor "The Top Sky Bar" (at the Almar Resort) is impressive and hospitable and really makes for an enjoyable time. We have been up here four times so far during our vacation to PV and coming for the Ru Paul show tomorrow evening. The cocktails and appetizers have been very good. Man, do not miss this place for breakfast to start your day...you cannot beat this place for breakfast, the view is amazing and the service a refreshing wake up to your day. Didn't find the gem until 3 days into my vacation. I was not sure they would allow non-hotel guest visit, but they did and they were so welcoming. The service team (especially Ricardo) was extremely attentive, drinks were tasty and creative. But the food was the best thing they offer. I was so impressed with the quality of the food I retuned the same evening for dinner. For lunch I had the burger!!!! Please try this as you will thank me later for it. AND then for dinner I had the angus filet, cooked perfectly and with the combination of view, food and drinks, I will be staying here on my next trip to PV. read more

A bar on top of Almar hotel with a cute ambience. It's open to the public from 8am-11pm, so we wandered in on our way back from the beach. It has a beautiful rooftop view of the beach and Zona romantica, comfortable couch seating, and 3 jacuzzis where you can eat and drink, as well as a DJ pumping music. We got margaritas, strawberry and mango, which didn't taste all that different but were definitely delicious. They were about $7 USD each, were a good size and pretty strong to my taste. The servers were very friendly; maybe because it wasn't too busy (early evening, everyone was probably on the beach), but our waiter Antonio brought us another round of larger margaritas on the house and thanked us for coming. So unexpected but very generous. Very fun place, would definitely be THE SPOT at a busier time. read more
