I didn't have high hopes for the martini - I find that outside of major U.S. cities places end up putting in way too much vermouth - and it actually ended up being fantastic. It didn't taste too different from what I would make at home which is probably the best thing I could say about a martini (for my own personal taste). I tried a fruitier one - the Gigi - as my second and final drink. It was good but I'm just not a fruity drink person. I just wasn't equipped to handle another standard martini lol. The ambiance is phenomenal - it was both casual and comfortable yet classy. The crowd was much older than I expected although not in a bad way at all. There were lots of expats in their 50s and 60s. I was worried it would be a rowdy rooftop and by contrast it was actually a very chill vibe. Only complaint is that the bathroom is outside of the venue down the stairs and you need a key to enter, which was a bit annoying bc I wanted to use the restroom before I left and I forgot to ask for the key on my way out. Small annoyance and certainly wouldn't prevent me from going back.

I'm sure this place is super packed during sunsets but when we came for brunch, it was nice and quiet/mellow (which is perfect for what we wanted) - it was also on a Monday, so maybe a lot of people were traveling in/out or recovering from their weekend?

Very easy check in process, he talks you through the whole process and pretty much does all the work for you. The location is perfect because it's right by all of the clubs and bars, plus there's a taco stand right outside of the entrance and it's next to a convenience store that's open 24/7. You can also walk to the beach which is like 2 blocks away. The hostel was extremely clean and almost every time I walked in I would see someone cleaning. You can tell that this place is very well kept. I even made some really nice friends here in the little lounge area. I plan on staying here again next time I visit Puerto Vallarta!

The menu looks good, and those around me got their food relatively quickly and had no complaints, but my experience was different. It took forever to get someone to take my order. Well over half an hour, I'd been given no update about my order. When my waiter finally happened to pass by, I asked about my food, and told him to cancel my cocktail and just bring me water. I was so dehydrated and hungry . The water didn't take too long (though it should've been faster considering the extended wait already), but my ceviche took at least another half hour to get to me. It looked ok and tasted fine, but within an hour, my stomach turned sour. I spent the next two days feeling sick. It left me wondering if my food had been sitting out. I'm not saying don't go there, but be careful with what you order, and if your food isn't served promptly, maybe cancel it just to be safe.

There are 2 levels - one which is mostly indoors and then the top level which has a great balcony space overlooking the main square. The cool thing about Aria? BODY PAINT. The DJ here was so much better than a lot of the live music spots we found in Sayulita. Top 40s, old school hip-hop, a little something for everyone. The crowd was mixed - we had our large group, some other vacationers, and Sayulita locals. Was it crowded? Absolutely, but that didn't take away from the experience. There were also a ton of fans on the top level so the space was well ventilated considering how many people were packed into the space lol. Hands down my favorite spot for a dance party in Sayulita.

After looking up good places to go, Bar La Playa came up- and I'm sure glad it did! First, it's easy to get to if you're coming from North. Our Uber was easily able to drop us off without getting stuck in gridlock traffic that can affect certain roads of this area. Additionally, the location isn't a high-traffic area for tourists. That meant we were able to walk up and immediately find seats. Second, the service was top notch. I didn't get the bartenders name, but he was very welcoming, friendly, hospitable and spoke English. Just an overall cool dude and was glad to support his business. Third, the drinks were great. Finally, we were drinking 'real' drinks, not the watered down sugary stuff at the hotel. We were very satisfied with the taste of the drinks. Fourth, the prices are really good. Mexico has gotten expensive and this was a sigh of relief. You can have a great time here without feeling like you paid an arm and a leg. I highly-highly recommend making Bar La Playa your first stop when coming to this area. You're going to get great service, great drinks and all at a price that is reasonable and fair.
