Hina Hakim always has a really nice smile on her face when I walk into the Elderly home The Trousdale, and that consistency means a lot. She greets visitors and residents by name, takes time to listen, and handles everything with compassion. She's been so wonderful with my grandma-- patient, kind, and truly attentive to her needs. We had a wonderful experience at the Trousdale when my Aunt was transitioning from living at her home to assisted living. Harmony was our first point of contact and her warmth and willingness to go above and beyond made my Aunt's move go very smoothly. Also, Maria assisted us with the paperwork and met with us many times so that we felt comfortable with the process and our final decision. When you walk into the lobby, it is bright, cheerful, welcoming and happy. All the caregivers are smiling, saying hello, and are happy to serve the residents. My Aunt loved the food and we enjoyed many meals there as well. Although my Aunt's stay was very short due to health issues, we would definitely consider going back to the Trousdale in the future for our senior family members. read more

Hina Hakim and her daughter Alishah, are assets of The Trousdale. A mother and daughter team. Both showed me courtesy, friendship and lots of assistance. I worked partime for some residents of The Trousdale as caregiver, and companion. Being new in that building the Hina (every weekends); and Alishah (on other days), made me feel at home in that business establishment. Me n my sister, Violet, highly appreciate the presence of this mother n daughter team at The Trousdale. Every Sunday, i see Hina at the reception area. She made my job very easy and enjoyable. Beautiful property. Staff is stellar - I watched as one employee gently "assisted" a resident who was 'lost." The restaurant is terrific. Premium facility. No complaints. Staff is superb. However, one thing, there's a $5000 fee ( facility fee) at move in. Not much will be spoken about it during your registration conference, I still havent quite figured out what its genuinely for . I'm purely assuming , that it's for overhead. If anyone knows, please post to educate others. This facility has a certain clientele, therefore, $5K isnt a tremendous burden for those, nevertheless, you might still want to question the reason you have to shoulder this cost. Warning! If your loved one has dementia and is not "advanced" enough, this brand new facility in Burlingame will not accept your loved one. After going through all the hoops required and a month after our uncle had moved into Trousdale, they denied his wife from moving into their memory care just days before her scheduled move in date. She was assessed and approved by their nurses. The contacts were signed. They took a $5,000 move in fee and ~$10,000 for first month's rent only to block her from coming in. She has dementia and is challenging as she says mean things out loud. All this was disclosed. Promises broken. And now aunt and uncle are separated. Infuriating! Bad management process, lack of compassion, and lack of competence is The Trousdale in a nutshell. The one star is for the nice waitstaff. The food is also pretty good. But, if you want to stay for a meal with your loved one, it's a bit old school as you have to fill out a form twice with the same information for bill back. Awkward. We had high hopes for this new elder care facility which took forever to get licensed and now greatly disappointed with their management and sales staff. All this upset could have been avoided had they told us from the get go that only advanced dementia patients are accepted--meaning docile or able to be managed with sedation--that's how we interpreted the go-no-go process that The Trousdale put our family through. We wasted a lot of time and energy. We're not sure our uncle, who is physically frail, can take another move. Sad for him at 88 yrs old and aunt at 95 yrs old. As the long-term care ombudsman told us, the elder care system is broken. The scale is not tipped on the side of the elderly. To that, we can surely and sadly attest, especially the expensive, glitzy places like The Trousdale Burlingame and Atria Foster City. Best to aboth if at all possible. Sadly, our uncle died just six months after the move to The Trousdale. He only got to see his wife at Sunrise Belmont once a week as he got too frail to travel back and forth without help. I believe the shock of denying his wife entry contributed to his sharp decline. Though The Trousdale is not for profit, the administrators' seem to not have a heart. This situation was so sad to experience. read more

My parents have lived at Trousdale since they opened. They have always commented the facility as being clean and the staff courteous. Trousdale offer lots of activities throughout the day to keep seniors engaged from bingo to painting, movies, ice cream socials, performances, etc. The menu could offer more variety, especially for those who have high cholesterol, diabetes, celiac, high blood pressure and other health issues. Staff and service is what makes the difference. Coming from luxury hospitality and having a keen eye for details, I have to applaud and recognize Hina, who sets the bar high. She is genuinely caring, patient, kind and knowledgeable about what Trousdale's offers. What sets her apart is her positivity and she greets everyone by name. She knows family members of the residents and truly makes you feel at ease your loved ones are in good hands. Hina is a true asset and knows what it means to provide 5 star service. read more

My father lived to be 100 years old and spent his last four years at The Trousdale surrounded by love and kindness. He received excellent care and made valuable friendships at a time when it truly mattered for his well being. During his first years, my Dad participated in the exercise classes and some of the other many offerings. Chef Martin is renowned in the Bay Area senior community for his excellent food and dedication to offering delicious and healthy well-balanced meals in a relaxing, beautiful dining room. My Dad enjoyed every meal and I believe this attention to fine food and good nutrition helped him stay healthy for so long. Covid management was diligent, professional, and they kept their residents safe. The facility is always immaculately clean, and extra cleaning and Covid precautions are carefully implemented even now that the pandemic requirements are winding down in many other places. The staff is very caring, professional, and immensely patient with the residents. The community is extremely well managed, very upbeat, and many friendships are made among the residents. There is always something to look forward to with outings, parties, and musical events regularly on the schedule. I feel very good about the decision we made along with my Dad to have him reside at The Trousdale. He received better care than I could have provided at home. I was able to visit often and I was always warmly welcomed by the staff. Most important, my Dad felt safe, well cared for, and loved in this environment. read more

My 94-year-old mom has been a resident for a little over three months. It is no exaggeration to say The Trousdale takes better care of her than we ever could because they have a full staff, and each staff member is a consummate professional. You will not meet a more proficient and caring team anywhere. The meals are delicious. My mom's room and clothes are always immaculate. Her personal hygiene needs are always attended to. She has a two-bedroom unit but prefers to be out in the common area with the other seniors and staff because she really enjoys their company and the daily activities. While I can only speak to The Trousdale sales process, as my elderly in-laws elected to move into a facility closer to their home, everyone that we interacted with during our discovery process was simply outstanding. Jennifer, our primary contact, was patient, helpful, considerate, professional, warm and welcoming. Jennifer was also very understanding with regards to the anxiety my in-laws felt at the prospect of late-in-life change. We were encouraged by Jennifer and there was no pressure to move quickly or at any pace other than our own. As mentioned, the only reason my in-laws did not move into the Trousdale is that they wanted to stay closer to their home. There were no red flags. Regarding COVID, we also found no red flags and instead discovered an aggressive COVID response, robust safety protocols and balanced considerations regarding the pandemic and their residents quality of life. As I told Jennifer, while The Trousdale did not work out for my in-laws, I'll definitely keep it in mind for myself. read more

Finally moved my mom in The Trousdale Burlingame senior community. My mom is 94 and full of energy. She now has the care so my family doesn't have to worry. First of all, the trousdale is a nice place to live for assisted living and memory care. Its a new building and have good activities for seniors and excellent foods, the management are trying to do their best for the residents and also for the employees. Employees really takes care of the residents' well being. As we all know all companies have some employees that wont agree with the management, unfortunately there is always two sides of the story. Take a tour and you will see how great the service of trousdale is. Sylvia,is really approachable and always thinks whats best for the residents,Sue is really nice ,sweet but strict. The memory care coordinator Mary Ann has an EMT certificate and she has a lot of experience in this kind of work. If an employee call and sick and she cannot find a replacement Mary ann is the one working on the floor as Medtech or giving care to the residents.
