Been waiting for over 3 weeks for an estimate. Called 3 times and the 3 times I was told they would call me back the next day with an estimate. The right thing to do if you can't provide a service is to be honest and tell them you are not interested or don't have the bandwidth, whatever the case is. 35 sq ft bathroom remodel (NO PLUMBING FIXTURES MOVING) and almost a month to complete. If you want the full story, grab a snack and a beverage and keep reading. I've hired TTB multiple times for a variety of handyman projects for MORE than a decade and it was always great. When I purchased my 1960s ranch and wanted to remodel the master bath I called Chris. Saved up my pennies for 2 years and purchased good quality plumbing fixtures (Kohler, Graff, Brizo, etc.) to make the dream a reality. Chris (owner) assigns a project manager for this job & I thought GREAT! See I work with Project Managers in my job and the good ones are very organized, clear communicators, & manage expectations. Spoiler Alert: I didn't get that with Jake. I am doing the shower door and paint but since it's a tight space, the only way to get extra room was to take the old curb from 6" to 4" (see email receipt attached) Initial estimate was 2 weeks from Chris but I know things change when walls open and it moved to about 2.5 weeks ...cool. Tile sub comes by to look at the job & chat w/ Jake but he decides to go with someone else because (as Jake told me) that guy came in a little too high (hmmm...odd thing to tell a customer who already has a set price for the project & don't you guys do this for a living shouldn't you know what folks are charging but hey it's TTB it will be fine, you're overthinking). Had 1 valid delay because the sub-floor was in such poor condition Jake had to rebuild so folks wouldn't fall through and it was level. Lost a day - day 1/2 but it's all good. Tile folks finally get started. Stood in the tiny room w/ Jake and the Manager of the tile guys and decided on direction and tile pattern and confirmed 1 solid piece of tile in the doorway, no grout line, brick pattern etc. They do the mosaic in the shower all is well, then they do the grout and I get a message from Jake that they made a mistake & need to get more mosaic so where did I get it from? Okay no worries so I share the info, go about my day (working from home). I had checked on them mid-day and mosaic was all in place. In the evening I take a peek at the room and see that ALL of the mosaic has been removed. WHAT HAPPENED? Jake didn't know (guess he wasn't asking for end-of-day reports). I asked the guys in the morning and they said he made a mistake on the concrete, which was too high for the drain so they had to do it all over again (hmm...tile height around drain seems like tile 101...how much lower did these guys come in??) I email Jake, Chris and Randy my concerns have they tiled before, have you used them before etc? No immediate answer to those questions, project keeps going, then the flooring outside of the shower there is a grout line in the tile at the entranceway. The tile manager lady never told them what I wanted so they had to rip it up and start all over again (being careful of the radiant floor heating that was installed). Wall and floor tiling gets done, Jake checks and finds out the floor is a full INCH out of level despite starting with a level base. And my shower curb IS 6 INCHES!! Apparently, they got a little thinset happy according to tile lady which caused it to be out of level and in the end, they had to rip it up and DO IT AGAIN to make it level! But she said no one told her about the curb required and Jake said that was true. He assumed that because he framed it out at 2x4 they would keep tight to that (hmmm ...assumed) so thin down the outer edge of the curb so the shower pan doesn't have to be done all over again and even up the wall. I'm furious, Jake thinks it's a lot of work for a 1/4 inch difference (free tip unless your name is on the mortgage NO ONE GIVES A FLYYN PHUCCKERY ABOUT UR MAN-SPLANING OPINION!!) Still furious so wait 24 hours and eventually land on rip it all up and start over but low & behold Chris calls. I send him an image of the problem with the vanity legs in place and Chris and Jake are able to come up w/ a solution to give me the look I waited 2 years for and spent 5 figures on w/out starting all over. Finishing pieces go in and on June 30th bathroom door is re-installed and my involuntary observation of a master class on how NOT to manage subcontractors is complete. Back to just using them for handyman projects and a new group of remodelers are providing estimates on my other bathroom project for the end of this year. read more

Mediocre work. The trusted toolbox was hired to replace outdoor trim around the windows and touchup with paint. A worker damaged the stucco under one of the windows. They didn't say anything, upon checking the work later that day. My husband saw the damage, trusted toolbox did come back out and repair the damage. Overall the work is ok. We were charged over $500 in supplies for 1 can of paint and molding trim. We asked repeatedly for an itemized bill for the supplies used. Got the run around, no one could produce a copy how the supply bill. Always an excuse. For how much they charge the their services, I expected a better outcome. Called to inquire if they could pick up a small job after being referred to them. I'm north of I-20, which they stated was in their service range, but when I told them my zip code, I was no longer in range? Makes it confusing to have a cut off for what is in range but then back pedal when zip codes are involved. Can't comment on their work, but figured others might like to know since their service range information isn't provided on their website. read more

As usual, we trusted the Trusted Toolbox to change out our bathroom ceiling and add an exhaust fan. And, of course, they did an amazing job! We have a 30's home with a stipple ceiling and, over time and without an exhaust fan, mold and whatever else has attached itself to the ceiling making it look disgusting. Martin was the technician and, by himself, he provided us with excellent service and even finished a day early. We continue to use this company for large and small home renovation projects and would recommend them to anyone looking for a trusted handyman company. read more

They did some work for us last summer to enclose our open home office. The initial customer service was great to come out and do the estimate. Once we scheduled the service, the office was less responsive to our questions, especially in regards to pricing. The gentleman who came to our house to complete the work was nice and seemed to work at a good pace. The work came out pretty good except the painting could've been blended better as we could see where the paint line was from our previous wall to the wall extension. Overall, good work, I'd use them again, customer service needs to be more responsive and upfront with pricing. read more

Four business days after that I called the company, and they said they would check. The next day, a week after the sales manager came out, I emailed him and he said oh I thought I did it and I'll do it in the morning. That was a one business day ago. Scheduling the appointment was an absolute mess but a representative finally came out to provide a quote on a kitchen remodel and deck repair. After the appointment, we never received the estimate we were promised so that was time wasted. Our project ended up being awarded to another contractor. Kitchen updated, bathroom gutted and completely new. We've used TTB for many years. Usually Greg provides our estimates and is professional and responsive with quotes. This year we decided to upgrade our kitchen (new backsplash, quartz counter tops, lighting, and fresh paint. It exceeded our expectations. Bathroom was gutted back to studs. Replaced everything. The tile job was done by Eric who is absolutely a perfectionist. Plumbing done by Horatio, awesome job, and electrical by Ernesto. Juan did the tear out and reset. I called this co in Norcross Georgia. on referral. Sales manager came -at appointed time . Said he would send estimate and they could do job to repair dry rot , hang shelves and repair drywall where new breaker added. Never heard from them. Put in two calls to sales Manager no return, two calls to office no return call. The company who gave me their name has tried to call and speak with owner, but no call back. If you like chasing after a company to make an appt for an estimate, then following up repeatedly to get them to SEND said quote, then being told SORRY, that's the wrong price it's 30% too low, then you really will love these people. After I reluctantly agreed to the inflated price, I waited for the scheduler to call as I was told would happen once I accepted the quote. No no, that didn't happen, I had to call to schedule the work. Not a problem but don't tell me you'll call me and then don't. So, we get the scheduled time set up several weeks out. Of course, he was late. It was a constant issue with these people, from bad communication, high prices, shoddy work, & horrible follow up. Sure the guy that showed up was friendly, but he was not a good painter (window trim,doors) and even said he told the company he didn't like doing paint jobs. Sloppy sloppy sloppy. He even said he painted some items that it was clear he didn't. He did return and finish. He did other items as well. I would never ever recommend them or use them again. EVER. read more

I left a message with all my information to call me, and I didn't hear back from them for over a week and a half. She said she was trying to catch up and apologized for not getting back to me sooner. We've struggled for years to find competent, reliable contractors and finally found one in The Trusted Toolbox. Brian did a fantastic job of repairing two broken pocket doors in our old house, which included fixing the tracks, replacing the old hardware, sealing and some gnarly holes in one, and repainting the walls either side. James did a great job of repairing holes in the dry wall around the house and repairing an outdoor deck, and Andre did a bang-up job of fitting a video doorbell into a thick, old door frame and making it look good. All three guys were professional, polite, and put effort into ensuring that the finish was good (as opposed just dashing off the work, taking the money, getting out of there as most contractors seem to.) That makes them pretty much unicorns in our experience with contractors to date. We'd recommend TT immediately to anyone looking to have some contracting work done well. read more

We also had a deck renovation. The trusted tool had painted our front door last year and I was very happy with the results, so there was no question ass to I would call for the rotting deck. Laguanda Baker and Xavier+ and the rest of the crew were absolutely wonderful, did a superb job and were the wonderful people to have around my home. The absolute worse. I hired them in April 2020 to repair an paint a deck. It took three weeks to schedule the repair. Now 40 days after the repair part was completed for a sky high price, they still have not painted the deck. They cancelled the paint part twice now and then push the next date out three weeks every time they cancel. They keep blaming rain, but if they had enough people it would not take three weeks to schedule painting or work around rain. The home is occupied by a tenant and they are unable to use the deck which is causing problems now with the rental contract agreement. I called today and ask that a manager call me. What I got was a Quality guy who wanted to talk over me and explain that it was a rain problem despite the fact that over the last 40 days...it has rained for 5 days. He was interested in lecturing me instead of really understanding that Quality is customer perception...and I percieve that waiting 40 days to paint a deck is poor quality. This was the second and last time I have used "Trusted" Tool Box. They have been fired from the project and I will paint the deck myself in two days time and save the overcharge of 1K to paint a small deck. Over priced and they take way too long. Hire people to work out your long delays on scheduling and completing work. Also work on your prices, you are too high given how long it takes to get the jobs done. read more

Expensive. I hired them to install a wall oven. The first guy that came over blew up the oven by plugging in 440 into a 220. They replaced the oven and sent a different team to fix the first installation. It was extremely stressful. And I had to wait 2 weeks to have my oven installed plus my time. No discount for what they made me go through. I went along with it because I needed more work done to my home and the second team was better. They said they were looking forward to it. Called them back, they came over, to tell me they didn't do kitchen remodeling or fix window sills anymore. They are still showing those services on their webpage so that's a lie. This teaches me not to trust in people who do a bad job. read more

First off, I have used The Trusted Toolbox in the past many times. I've given them a lot of business at my old house. I had good and not so good experiences with them; however, what they just did solidifies not ever using them again. I asked The Trusted Toolbox for a quote to finish the plumbing on in my basement bathroom. After a week of waiting for a quote, I emailed them asking them if it was ready. I received a quote that was in line with other quotes that I received from other companies. THE NEXT DAY, I received another quote that was $700 higher than the first quote. When I asked why I received two quotes, I received an email (4 days later) saying the first quote was a rough estimate. I would say that was pretty rough... $700 more? I told them that I felt what they did was unprofessional (especially since it was now WAY more than other quotes I received), and all I was offered was a $100 coupon. Most companies that I've worked for and with, if they make a mistake like this they will honor the first quote, or come closer to it. Not The Trusted Toolbox... I'm taking my business elsewhere from now on. read more
