Everyone there was so kind from checking in to the zip line and dip tour with our zip line guides Skip and Gary and Matoa or Makoa (unsure of how to spell his name) they were all fun to be around and made me feel safe and I'm honestly really scared of heights but they made sure we were having a good time amazing guides, we had Harrison for the dip tour at the waterfall he was amazing as well and showed us music and talked to us about some history of the waterfall and interesting facts, he takes great photos! Harrison even gave us a good recommendation to find malasadas (they were so good!). Everything was so fun and all the guides were so helpful and nice! I definitely recommend going here! Make sure to bring cash to tip your guides they definitely deserve it! It is pricey but worth the memorable experience!! read more

Thank you for hosting us yesterday for the zip and dip experience. Our family really enjoyed the zip lining and we felt that the staff were caring and attentive and made for a fun experience. The property itself is magical. The dip experience was not so great. We felt that the white bread turkey sandwich and food offerings were really Spartan and not luxurious enough for the price paid. Our teenage guide for that activity was really grumpy, not engaging at all, didn't even introduce himself by name, was unprepared without any water at the activity, and only two of the standup paddle boards were functional for a group of six people. I felt several instances of whiplash from the ziplines breaking too suddenly. The dangers of whiplash could really hurt someone, and for the good of all -- please fix them! They should be set to BREAK MORE GRADUALLY. One particular very long line jerked my whole body one way and then the other so forcefully that it ruined the experience for me. The guide agreed the breaks were too much of a jerk (especially the longer ones), but he didn't know of any way to change it. If I would have suspected there would be forceful jerking like this I would have passed on this trip. As it is I am grateful I didn't get seriously hurt. I'm giving two stars for effort though, because these are good people with a beautiful property, very friendly and their food is good. read more

My husband and I booked the Umauma Falls ATV experience while visiting the Hilo side, and it ended up being his favorite part of the entire trip. From the start, the experience feels a little more special than your typical ATV tour because you're riding through private farmland rather than a crowded trail system. You follow your guide across wide open pastures where you pass horses, cows, and even pigs, which adds such a fun, local feel to the ride. The terrain changes throughout, moving from grassy stretches to rocky sections and muddy patches, so it never feels repetitive or boring. One thing we really appreciated was that the guide adjusted the pace to match the group. If you want to take it slow and steady, you can. If you're feeling more adventurous, they'll pick up the speed. It made the experience feel personalized rather than rigid. Toward the end, there's a short hike down to a beautiful waterfall area that feels tucked away and peaceful. Unfortunately, we had a lot of rain during our visit, so the falls were running strong and it wasn't safe to swim. While that was a bit of a bummer, it was still impressive to see the power of the water and didn't take away from the overall experience. If you're looking for something active and scenic on the Hilo side, this is absolutely worth adding to your itinerary. It's a great mix of adventure, views, and a little glimpse into local farmland life, and clearly a highlight of our trip. read more

My husband and I went zip-lining here the other day and had an amazing experience from start to finish! The staff who welcomed us and checked us in were kind and the process was quick. There is parking on site and also restrooms available. They also offer some quick food to purchase like hot dogs and sandwiches which was nice cause there isn't much to eat close by. Unfortunately I don't remember our tour guides names, but they made the experience even better! They were all super nice and made us feel comfortable. I felt safe the entire time being in their hands. If you're looking for something to do in the Hilo area I definitely recommend coming to the Umauma Experience! Will definitely come back and maybe try another activity that they have to offer! read more

The experience was nice and it all felt very safe, although if you aren't scared of heights or anything it's not worth the money.. at all. the pictures online and brochures left at our airbnb made it look wayyy cooler and the "waterfalls" are like teeny tiny! For about $200 you could do any other excursion. i'm sad i chose this instead of doing something else on one of my last days on the big island. read more

My 14y.o. and I thoroughly enjoyed the Zip and Dip adventure at the Umauma Experience! our guides were friendly, attentive, humorous, and safety oriented. We had a fantastic day and enjoyed a yummy Dole Whip before we left. The views from above were amazing and our swim near the spring-fed waterfall was refreshing after zipping through the tree tops. The location was very picturesque, and the three young men that drove and accompanied us to the waterfall location were very friendly and helpful, however, the equipment that we used at the waterfall was very dated, there was not enough for all parties to utilize the paddle boards and the inflatable kayaks were not in a condition to be used. The tour was to last two hours, however, we returned back to the main area at exactly one and one half hour. The experience was not what I expected or hoped for and overall was disappointed in the experience. read more

We had a great time. This was the best zip lining we've ever done & we have gone all over the world. The scenery is great. The lines are so fun. Going over the waterfalls was pure magic. The staff is professional yet friendly. You feel safe & secure. The suspension bridge was an added bonus. My only request would be to have smaller groups. We were in a group of almost 20. Having guys stationed at every line would make it a lot smoother rather than going in The group of 20 at a time. Otherwise it was beyond what we expected. What a fun family afternoon. We had our girls (16 and 13) with us and they had a blast. In our group, the youngest participant was around 5 years old and he was a pro. After a short (10 min) bumpy van ride to the top you are off on 9 zip lines. Around 4 of them are over the river/falls. We don't regret this activity as we all had a lot of fun. An exhilarating experience that tops off everything else we've done. Together with the adrenaline rush of driving over the rugged terrain and not knowing exactly how we're going to land all tires made me feel like a stuntman as our guide closely stayed by. You can dictate your level of excitement. We wanted high active experience and we received that and more. So awesome even the mud that pasted on my teeth from uncontrolled smiling tasted great! We booked the 4 line tour. Our family of 3 was the only booking so they took us early and we had a private zipline tour. We absolutely LOVED the zipline at the Umauma Experience! We would do it again in a heartbeat! It was the perfect mix of double rides and single rides and then even three on a row which was so fun!
