I gave The Umauma Experience a 3-star review. The ziplining itself was really fun, but the lines felt a bit short, each line took only about 20 seconds, so I really wish they were longer. We also did the swim portion, but it was just whatever. You basically just get to paddle around in a small pool formed by a small waterfall, which didn't feel like anything special. What really dragged down the experience was their scheduling and communication. They require you to show up 45 minutes before your booked tour time because they actually leave 15 minutes prior to that time. The problem was they didn't inform us of this requirement until just 1.5 hours before our tour started, while we were already driving all the way over from Kona! They should just set the official booking start time to 45 minutes earlier instead of setting a time and then springing the early arrival requirement on you at the absolute last minute. It's a decent activity if you're nearby, but for the drive from Kona and the short ziplines, it was a pretty middle-of-the-road experience.

Thank you for hosting us yesterday for the zip and dip experience. Our family really enjoyed the zip lining and we felt that the staff were caring and attentive and made for a fun experience. The property itself is magical. The dip experience was not so great. We felt that the white bread turkey sandwich and food offerings were really Spartan and not luxurious enough for the price paid. Our teenage guide for that activity was really grumpy, not engaging at all, didn't even introduce himself by name, was unprepared without any water at the activity, and only two of the standup paddle boards were functional for a group of six people. Really disappointing overall. Thank you for receiving my honest feedback.

My husband and I did the Zip and Dip tour. Everyone there was so kind from checking in to the zip line and dip tour with our zip line guides Skip and Gary and Matoa or Makoa (unsure of how to spell his name) they were all fun to be around and made me feel safe and I'm honestly really scared of heights but they made sure we were having a good time amazing guides, we had Harrison for the dip tour at the waterfall he was amazing as well and showed us music and talked to us about some history of the waterfall and interesting facts, he takes great photos! Harrison even gave us a good recommendation to find malasadas (they were so good!). Everything was so fun and all the guides were so helpful and nice! I definitely recommend going here! Make sure to bring cash to tip your guides they definitely deserve it! It is pricey but worth the memorable experience!!

My husband and I booked the Umauma Falls ATV experience while visiting the Hilo side, and it ended up being his favorite part of the entire trip. From the start, the experience feels a little more special than your typical ATV tour because you're riding through private farmland rather than a crowded trail system. You follow your guide across wide open pastures where you pass horses, cows, and even pigs, which adds such a fun, local feel to the ride. The terrain changes throughout, moving from grassy stretches to rocky sections and muddy patches, so it never feels repetitive or boring. One thing we really appreciated was that the guide adjusted the pace to match the group. If you want to take it slow and steady, you can. If you're feeling more adventurous, they'll pick up the speed. It made the experience feel personalized rather than rigid. Toward the end, there's a short hike down to a beautiful waterfall area that feels tucked away and peaceful. Unfortunately, we had a lot of rain during our visit, so the falls were running strong and it wasn't safe to swim. While that was a bit of a bummer, it was still impressive to see the power of the water and didn't take away from the overall experience. If you're looking for something active and scenic on the Hilo side, this is absolutely worth adding to your itinerary. It's a great mix of adventure, views, and a little glimpse into local farmland life, and clearly a highlight of our trip.

    Second to last line.

HONESTLY save your money!! The experience was nice and it all felt very safe, although if you aren't scared of heights or anything it's not worth the money.. at all. the pictures online and brochures left at our airbnb made it look wayyy cooler and the "waterfalls" are like teeny tiny! For about $200 you could do any other excursion. i'm sad i chose this instead of doing something else on one of my last days on the big island.

Amazing experience! It rained on us most of the time, but they provided ponchos to all the guests and it didn't stop us from having fun! Beautiful scenery and kind staff

This has bed. Our third time back in 3 years and our guides Kiana and Saire were great! Every single time has been different experience with the same outcome, pure excitement! Highly recommend!

My family had a wonderful day split between ATV riding and Zip Lining. The guides were super helpful and took the time to make sure we were enjoying all the activities.

We had a great time. This was the best zip lining we've ever done & we have gone all over the world. The scenery is great. The lines are so fun. Going over the waterfalls was pure magic. The staff is professional yet friendly. You feel safe & secure. The suspension bridge was an added bonus. My only request would be to have smaller groups. We were in a group of almost 20. Having guys stationed at every line would make it a lot smoother rather than going in The group of 20 at a time. Otherwise it was beyond what we expected. The property has so much to offer & we were pleasantly surprised to get to explore so much. Thanks for a memorable experience.

Are there lockers to store our personal belongings? Or is a Fanny pack recommended?

You just leave your stuff in your car, lock it and you leave your key in a basket with them. You could bring a fanny pack. There is a snack and water break halfway with bathrooms. They give you a poncho in case of rain. It was a lot of fun!

Great experience, definitely recommended!…read more EDIT: I forgot to add that they rescue a lot of their horses. They make sure they are rider ready for sure, but this fact alone was worth a lot to me. The fact the experience was awesome regardless was icing on the cake. We booked a jungle ride for 2 at the last minute (a couple of days before) after another local place cancelled our online booking on us. I am so glad that happened, because we had a great time. The owner and her assistant guide were able to accommodate us on a Sunday for a private ride for the two of us. We were perfectly matched based on my more experience with riding, and my husband's very beginner ability. They each talked to us about the surrounding farms we were riding through, and the different plants, trees, animals, etc. around us, and their origins. They were very knowledgeable about all of this, as well as riding. We were even able to pick some fruit from one of the farm's trees (with permission from the farmer of course!) Our guide took a bunch of photos of us as we went (wasn't obtrusive though), and texted them to me right after our ride, ready for facebook upload :-) I always try to unsuccessfully take photos while riding so this was a treat. At the end, the owner's daughter had brought some juice out for us, My husband really doesn't like horseback riding, but he said he loved our ride here and it was one of the highlights of the trip. The owner told me they just bought some additional land that they are hoping to develop into a destination they can ride to and then do luaus with food, entertainment, and drinks, which I thought was such a cool idea! She was hoping to have this done in around a year, so I would definitely be back to check it out.

Was booked for an hour and half ride but we went longer just because they had free time after. I went horseback riding once before and I didn't really enjoy it. I kind of decided to do this last minute and was lucky that they had an opening while we were on island visiting. This place is in Kohala at the top of the mountain, the drive up and down was gorgeous! We were greeted right away at the check in area by Jackie and Calcificer (not sure if that is how you spell the Cat's name) the chatty Cat. You have to sign a waiver and you can choose to wear a helmet or not. They have helmets, jackets, boots and saddle bags for the guests to use. You cannot have anything loose, it has to be secured in a zippered pocket or the saddle bag. You cannot keep your phone in your back pocket and if you would like to wear your cowboy hat, you need to make sure it has a string to secure your hat on, it gets super windy, no string, then you cannot wear the hat. Baseball caps are ok but it needs to be snug. The horses are beautiful and well taken cared of. The area was just so beautiful, rolling green hills as far as the eye can see. It did get quite windy and there was a light drizzle of rain for a little while. So much cooler than the last time I rode which was in the Hilo area and it was hot. We did the 1 1/2 hour ride. There were opportunities to canter or trot or if you just wanted to walk that was fine too. Our guides Jackie and Darian were very informative, they were very descriptive on how to get on and off the horse, how to hold the reigns and how to direct the horse. They also gave us horses they thought would match each of the riders. They helped all of us mount and dismount and made sure we were comfortable and felt secure. On our ride they told us about the ranch and its history and about each of our horses, where they were obtained from or if they were born on the ranch. The horses were all well behaved. This experience was much more enjoyable, would highly recommend!
