Me ,brothers and neighborhood friends would play many sports there. Some of us were in the Cub scouts& many had ties to the 1st Baptist church at w. 8th st. We used the library here. Skateboarded at the base of CNA bldg.(now Superior court bldg.)saw them film Adam-12, and barnaby jones. Threw now outlawed Lawn darts at some tree's there and use to watch the many beautiful koi swim in the man made pond there.

It's not the greenest park (there is lots of dirt areas) but it has a lot to offer. There is a…read morenice astroturf soccer field, a small skate park, multiple basketball courts, and plenty of tables. Compared to MacArthur park there is not really a homeless issue. You won't see any tents or people defacating in front of you. One of the huge upsides is the gorgeous view of the old church right on the corner of the park. There is a youth center so there is always plenty of security around. The major downside is they only have a lot for handicap parking so expect to pay at the meters.

Professional actors, in a totally down to earth immersive experience. They used the space remarkably well. My favorite part was that they turned the bathroom into a 7-11. Kick ass. Putting on a show in a warehouse presents some unique challenges, particularly parking. They set up a vallet, which worked okay. The wait at the end was super long. Seating was metal folding chairs, which wasnt too bad, but two hours is really a bit much. The stage should have been about 1 foot higher for visibility. Other than that, this really does work as a creative performance space.

I recently had the opportunity to provide my services to this community organization. In doing so I had a very bad experience with the community coalition pertaining to payment for my services. I'll be very honest and transparent for the mistakes I made in doing so, as I'm going to take responsibility for my actions. This was my very first event as what I consider on a more business corporate level as I've only done family events, quinceañeras, etc. upon accepting any event I require a deposit to secure the date for anyone's event and final payment the day of before I ever serve my first product to anyone along with the client receiving a receipt. This is where I take full responsibility as I figured an organization as big as this would have paid me in full the day of seeing that I didn't receive a deposit, but at the end of the event I didn't receive my payment. It took a couple of days the following week to receive my payment for my services. I charge an additional $75 an hour for my services if the client wants me to stay and serve more. This was indeed the case I not only stayed an hour more but I walked half a block to get more mix and cups to keep this event going that night. It took over 3 weeks to receive an additional $75 in which I had to contact the organization numerous times. I thank Antwon as he was the gentleman who drove to my residence to drop off my first check. The second check I had to get myself. Now I know the narrative will be spun that I'm "complaining" or "trippin'" over $75 I am not. It's the lack of professionalism and the fact I had to reach out numerous times when I felt the person who booked me should have been in contact with me communicating with me instead of me constantly calling them (community coalition) when people say they'll get back to me and they don't. what a lot of people fail to realize is we as small business owners are small for a reason. We're barely starting so purchasing products, inventory, gas, it gets expensive especially when you have your own personal bills etc. and clients have to take into account when it comes to things of this nature. I've never gotten paid late from anyone I've conducted business with until this one. This is the reason why I'm writing this. I hope the community coalition will do better in the future no bad feelings on my end I just had to express my frustration and accountability aspect of the situation take care God bless and I hope it gets better as I strive to be better and conduct business the best way I can to serve a great tasting product with wonderful customer service to the best of my ability.

How come I have never visited the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center till now even if I…read morevisit Little Tokyo a few times a year? The answer is simple, they close on the weekends! I happened to check it out during Nisei Week festivities when it was finally opened during the weekend to see some of their exhibits located on various floors, mostly pottery. Impressions? I like the idea of the center, it is very needed in the community, the exhibits were very interesting but not that enjoyable to browse, some had chains to keep you away from the art, meaning the furthest away I have ever been in an art gallery and it made it hard to see details. Also, staff didn't try to talk to you, explain, they were talking to each other, it seemed liked you crushed a party! The place is outdated and I usually don't like to use this term, I like older things. But here, especially the restrooms need a makeover, sinks in particular are in terrible shape. The bathrooms need to be cleaner, they were smelly and lacked paper towel. Free to visit, they do charge for some events (tea ceremony), hard to find it opened, though!
