    How come I have never visited the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center till now even if I…read morevisit Little Tokyo a few times a year? The answer is simple, they close on the weekends! I happened to check it out during Nisei Week festivities when it was finally opened during the weekend to see some of their exhibits located on various floors, mostly pottery. Impressions? I like the idea of the center, it is very needed in the community, the exhibits were very interesting but not that enjoyable to browse, some had chains to keep you away from the art, meaning the furthest away I have ever been in an art gallery and it made it hard to see details. Also, staff didn't try to talk to you, explain, they were talking to each other, it seemed liked you crushed a party! The place is outdated and I usually don't like to use this term, I like older things. But here, especially the restrooms need a makeover, sinks in particular are in terrible shape. The bathrooms need to be cleaner, they were smelly and lacked paper towel. Free to visit, they do charge for some events (tea ceremony), hard to find it opened, though!

    Came here for a listening event and was extremely surprised at how cute and elegant this location…read moreis. The garden is an oasis in the middle of downtown. I love it. The drinks were perfect and the food was delicious. Will definitely be back for more events.
