We live in Brooklyn and got our first dog this summer. #pandemicpuppy From the start we realized we…read moreneeded a lot of training and we went through a thorough research and interview process to determine we wanted a board and train program. During this process we conducted consultations with several trainers throughout NYC and when we finally connected with Anna we were impressed with her extensive knowledge of dog training that was far beyond what we had encountered with other trainers. Anna has a three pronged approach of positive, corrective, and relaxation techniques which is a much more holistic approach than we encountered when we interviewed other trainers. Anna's focus on relaxation is different than any trainer we interviewed or worked with which teaches dogs how to exist in a calm state, which becomes homeostasis. This is what we wanted most with our dog so that we can all peacefully coexist together. Anna's home and dog training quarters are in a beautiful setting with a gorgeous view of Mt Ascutney. There is a lot of open outdoor area for the dogs to learn off-leash skills and to have exciting distractions such as goats and other dogs. Having a calm, natural setting is a benefit which is allowing our dog to master foundational skills without other distractions. However, because Anna knows that we will be brining our dog back to the city, she has taken our pup to busier areas to work on training with other distractions. After 10 days we met up with Anna and our dog to get some training transferred to us and it was like meeting a different dog. Our dog has already learned great leash skills and is able to be around other dogs and people without becoming overly aroused. She is immediately responsive to all major commands. Anna is also working on house training issues and helping our pup to learn to go outside. Initially our dog wasn't able to go outside because she was becoming too distracted when we were in the city. When we dropped our pup off she was newly recovering from being fixed and Anna's background as a nurse made us feel more at ease knowing that she would be attentive to her healing. Anna's depth of knowledge and clear instructions with us has already helped us learn so much about how to engage with our dog. We are so happy we found her services! I'm surprised that there aren't more 5 star reviews here that sing her praises. Thank you, Anna!

However, our local veterinarian had a client who recommended Center Rutland Veterinary Hospital highly so ... From the minute I called, everyone was very friendly, nice and helpful. From appointment to post-surgery, Marilyn, Tamara and Jackie were a pleasure to meet on the phone and work with. Their office is clean and bright with lots of orchids and a palm tree in the reception area. Very pleasant. What they charge for their services are quite reasonable. My father was a veterinarian and my mother still owns the animal hospital in the area where I grew up. I worked there when I was in high school. Center Rutland is well run and spotless (even considering the daily four-legged traffic ). I highly recommend them.

In my situation, she endangered the well being of my dog by refusing to issue hprescriptions in a timely manner if at all. Dr. Ray is a PRINCE! You'd be hard pressed to find a better doctor. However, confronting the wrath of his receptionist ruins what would otherwise be a pleasant experience for you and your pet. There are 3 veterinarians within a couple of miles of my residence, but because of Dr. Ray's reputation, I choose to use his services, even though it's nearly an hour drive for me. Unfortunately, I'm now faced with abandoning him due to Marilyn's customer abuse. I echo the words of another reviewer: RUDE RUDE RUDE!!

Ruby is our fourth rescue and the animal love of our lives. Part Red Boned Coon Hound part Mastiff…read moreshe is a big girl with a bigger personality. By 2 years old Ruby had gotten her canine good citizen certificate and participated in various training/socialization programs. She is obedient, loving with all humans, especially kids and enjoys most dogs. Every so often certain dogs seem to flip her switch. On those occasions this big girl looks aggressive. Never has she hurt or touched another dog, but the barking and snarling concerned us enough to seek out a behaviorist. We found Sarah Todd through an internet search and respected her bio of credentials and experience. Speaking with Sarah on the phone prior to engaging her only confirmed that we had found a consummate professional. Sarah drove over an hour to consult with us. She allowed us to demonstrate Ruby's behavior in the environment and situations we encounter daily. Sarah spent our consultation time really listening to our concerns, giving us some important foundational information that we needed for a basic understanding of reactive behavior and excellent suggestions for activities, reinforcement and responses to modify Ruby's behavior. The harness she recommended has been a game changer for enjoying walks with Rubes. Sarah followed up the consultation with a written account of what was discussed. The suggestions weren't a magic bullet because they required consistency, but the effort is so worth the result. Basic training is a pet owner's responsibility to their pet and to themselves. But when you are faced with an issue that truly impacts the ability for your dog to be socially integrated, I can't emphasize enough the value of engaging someone like Sarah who has the experience, training, and ability to convey the information in a way that makes sense and is able to be applied practically in a way that allows you to live your life with your dog, not around them. Sarah is worth every penny...and then some.

I would NEVER bring an animal to this place again. Very poor follow-ups by the vets…read morethemselves--they're great on the first visit, love to take your money for high priced tests, but after that, they communicate through the tech, so good luck in getting answers to questions. They boast about a triage system so that there would be always be a vet available if your particular vet was busy or away from the office, but that triage system was non-existent (unless there was a high-priced test, of course.) Their medications are ALWAYS higher-priced than any other vet, Their medications, tests, visits, x-rays, ultrasound (LOW quality), etc. are higher priced than other vets and their medications are most double what you pay online. When I said this to them, they glomped on to online vs. local, and how much more they have to pay for medication than online services. Okay, but double the price? And why are other vets' prices yes, higher than online, but so much lower than RVC&SC's? This was undoubtedly the most expensive vet we've ever been to and the absolutely worst service we've ever had. We were new to to this area, and we chose this vet based on a phone call and a visit. They talk a good talk, but that's as far as it goes. The worst thing of all: our dog suffered through a sickness while they played around with this test and that test, this med and that med. Although they were nice enough, but It was all about the money, how much could they get from us. "It could be this, so let's do this test. And let's rule out this, so let's do this test." They say they offer urgent care, but that just means they'll take you in right away so they can bilk you out of $$ for tests, then they leave you hanging. Are we bitter? Yes. Our dog deserved better. We were new to to this area, and we chose this vet based on a phone call and a visit. We waited too long to make the move because our dog was sick and we had invested too much faith as well as $$ in this place, and our dog suffered for it. Finally, we called it a loss and found another vet and got the immediate care our dog deserved. This was our experience, but since then, when we've mentioned our experience to others, we've heard all kinds of other stories that included surgery. I won't go in to them here because they weren't our experiences and we can't validate them. I would recommend due diligence and awareness if you choose this vet.
