Absolutely ridiculous.... I scheduled an 11 am appointment to have a letter notarized by the manager at the Ankeny location. Even got a reminder email the day before my appointment. When I showed up for my appointment the store manager hadn't even shown up and I was told that maybe she would be in at 12 PM but the guy working didn't know. I had him call the manager as this was an important matter and a scheduled appointment not just a walk-in. He called her and she told him that it would be at least 45 minutes before she would be there. Horrible work ethic. read more

I brought in an Amazon Return to have shipped, which is paid for by Amazon. Simply supply a QR code from the Amazon app. The man behind the counter ruddly responded that I owed $7.24 to tape the top of the pre-packaged box. I asked, $7.24 for a strip of tape? The customer next to me also questioned the amount. I would have gladly paid for a stip of tape but not 3 rolls of packaging tape. Yes, I could have taped it shut myself but I had run out of tape at home. Is a single piece of tape worth losing a repeat customer!? read more

The service at this store is terrible. I have tried to use the store quite a bit but every time I go in there i get bad service. Tried to send a package back to Amazon. I had to print a label and the kid said I could not do that. It is the same short dark hair kid that has been working there for a long time. I will drive to West Des Moines from now on. I just had an unpleasant experience here at UPS. There was 3 employees behind the desk. One of them was holding a puppy while the other gal helped me return my package. I asked the man Roger (I think that's what his name was) if I could pet his dog and he said yes. The 3rd guy working yelled at Roger "no strangers" allowed to pet the dog as I was petting the dog. Roger and the girl behind the desk seemed really confused about why he yelled that and started to argue. This made me feel so uncomfortable as well because the guy who yelled was glaring at me and made me feel extremely unwelcome. Maybe no animals allowed in the store if if the employees act like children and argue with each other in front of the customers. I used to like coming here for the customer service but I'll just go to the Ames one from now on. read more

While bringing in a package to mail, a small bag that I carry my medications in apparently fell out of my purse. Later that evening, I got a call from my pharmacist saying that the employees from the UPS Store called him to tell him they had found medications for one of the pharmacy's patients. I was absolutely shocked when I got the call from my pharmacist! Not only did they employee go through all the awful prompts you have to go through to speak to a pharmacy, but these were medications that they could have sold and made some money from, or kept for themselves. The kind of honesty and integrity shown by the employees in calling the pharmacy, tells me this is an establishment I can trust. I'm so grateful they were good, honest people! read more

Holy cow! I knew I should have just waited 15 more minutes until FedEx opened down the street. That purple hair chick is beyond rude. She seemed shocked that I wanted to place the items in the box and seal it before I left. She literally just grabbed the contents and placed it somewhere, until I told her I wanted the box sealed before I left. Just terrible, pathetic service. I would avoid this UPS store unless you like to be overcharged. My elderly parents stopped in to get some boxes and they were charged $39.00 for 3 boxes, 16x16x16 was $11.00. I went to the UPS store to ask about it since I picked up the same size box for $1.98 at Home Depot and they gave some story about thats what their vendor charges because they are a better quality of boxes which is untrue. They also will not take a return of unused item even with a receipt. Called several UPS stores in the Des Moines area and boxes were more in line with Home Depot and Walmart prices. read more

This is a great UPS location. It is convenient with tons of parking and you're likely to be able to complete another errand while in the same area! I always find a reason to drop in next door at Brown Dog Bakery. The store itself is as you would expect - a shop in a strip of shops. Average size and layout. Every time I go here my service is above average. Sometimes an employee seems to be having an off day but who doesn't? And they are still knowledgable and quick. They make the customer experience as hassle free as possible from what I can tell. What else do you want from a shipping company? read more

my grandma went in trying to get her package returned. she went in and didn't know how to print out the return label on her phone, so she asked the guy at the counter to help thinking he would be able to help her. instead he was extremely rude and told her that he doesn't use iphones so he can't help her and turned her out and told her he won't ship her package. she now will go to staples, hopefully they will be willingly to show how to pull up the return label on her phone. read more

These folks are always kind and courteous when I'm in the store, they move through a line quickly, and always helpful. This last time I got stuck in a situation where I'd thrown away some original packaging from Amazon, and had zero boxes even remotely big enough to repack an item (indoor bike). Not only did they get it all repackaged (at a great price - this thing was big and heavy), but the afternoon team stayed a little late so it'd be ready for me first thing the next morning, and even called me to make sure I knew it was done. I would give zero stars if I could. I took a package into the store that UPS failed to pick up at my home and was treated very rudely by the guy behind the counter. He talked to me as if I were a child and told me they could not print a label for me and that I would have to call UPS. Umm, you are UPS and you advertise that you print labels. It was the most ridiculous thing. If you have to deal with UPS, go to another location. read more

I had them pack, ship and insure an item, on November 6, 2017. Arrived at destination broken, they had to fill out the paperwork three times. Finally go it right and I received and email, check ready for pick up in store on December 22, 2017. I emailed back they need 24 to 48 hours to cut a check. Gave them 96 hours and they said they are too busy to cash the check. The check was cut at UPS on December 13, 2017. My wife went back with copy of email on January 6, 2018 and the manager wouldn't take it. She just pushed it back and threaten to call security. They don't take responsibly for there actions, they blamed me for poor packing job, I paid them $50 to pack it. It has been 63 days since I mailed the package, no check! read more

An overnight package arrived late. The owner originally stated a credit would be provided. After 2+ weeks a worker says the request has been processed and a check should arrive in the next 7-10 days. Overall the workers at the store are very professional but I have asked 5 different times over 2 weeks to have the store owner to contact me and each time the workers say she is too busy...
