The UPS Store on Columbus Ave in Boston is great! I had ordered a package from a worldwide website and found the garment unsatisfactory, so I had to return it. I packed it according to the seller's instructions. Then, there was the problem of finding a UPS Store that was open during the Covid-19 pandemic. Went to one, called a couple -- all were closed. Finally, I searched the web, only to find that this store was open! I rushed right down there and was greeted with a friendly "Hello, how are you?" and a smile. I responded in kind, while the gentleman accepted my package. No questions, nothing to fill out, no ID, just drop and run -- Great!!. I thanked him, he smiled as he responded and wished me a great day. I was so appreciative to see someone in good spirits, amid all the problems we're all going through at this time. I would give a 0 star review if I could. I arrived at this UPS location at 9:50 a.m. today. Sign on the door said they open at 9 a.m. Door was locked. 2 guys were inside, clearly saw me at the front door, but decided not to respond. They went back to doing whatever they were doing. I waited patiently in 5 degree weather thinking they would eventually come to the door as obviously they were supposed to be open. Then another customer showed up, and seeing the two guys inside, started knocking on the door. The guys looked up, saw us, looked down again and then went back to doing whatever they were doing. The other customer waited a little, then when it was clear there was no response, he started knocking on the door like crazy. After 5 minutes of continual knocking, the 2 guys came out from a back door and said they were closed and "we might open at 2 p.m." They did not apologize for making us wait. So why NO note on the door, and NO effort to even be courteous and let us know sooner that they were closed?? I asked if they would still take my 2 packages which already had shipping labels attached but they said no. I'm never coming back to this location. They clearly do not care about their customers. I ended up dropping off the packages with a nice UPS truck driver on my way home. read more

Do you enjoy being ripped off? You'll love this place! So I saved UPS some money today, and instead of saying "thanks," they instead charged me an extra $10 to pick up my UPS package at the UPS Store. I had an inbound UPS overnight package coming to my house, and since I wasn't sure I'd be home on the given day, the shipper suggested just sending it direct to a local UPS Store so I could pick it up at my convenience. This, I might add, also saved UPS some effort, and presumably money: - UPS didn't have to come to my house - UPS didn't run the risk of missing me and having to take my package back, then take it out again the next day and deliver it to their "UPS Access Point" which happens to be a lovely neighborhood flower store. (Don't know if UPS does this everywhere, but it's what they do in downtown Boston: miss you once, then the next day deliver your package to a neighborhood business that volunteers to provide that service. They do this for free I might add.) I mean, my package got dropped off at an actual UPS Store, which you would think UPS trucks go to every day anyway, right? Not like I was asking them to please bring my package to my Great Aunt Millie in Timbuktu, for God's sake. So I basically made UPS' life easier, for which the UPS Store charged me an extra $10 to pick up my package. The friendly and tolerant fellow at the store (this is why they get two stars rather than one, because he was nice and professional in spite of dealing with an annoyed customer) explained to me, while I strained to contain my annoyance, that they are a franchise and not owned by UPS and that's why they were ransoming my package for $10. I explained that, through the eyes of a customer, they *are* UPS, and that if they felt they are owed money to provide the service of allowing people to pick up UPS packages at the UPS Store, then they should work out that family squabble around the UPS dinner table. Then I explained that they could kiss good-bye the piles of money I've spent at UPS Stores over the years for packing and shipping. read more

Beware...incredibly unprofessional. I am just starting a small business and was excited to see there was a UPS store in my neighborhood. I went for the first time to have some documents printed and had a very bad experience. When I arrived the UPS person was on the phone with a customer. I stood there shocked hearing how rude and hostile he was being to this person on the phone. I almost walked out at that point but decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately when he finished the call he used the same attitude and tone with me and asked, "What do you need?". I asked how I could make some copies and he barked at me "there is a self-service station over there". I proceeded to try to make copies but realized that they were charging me $0.50 per copy. I walked back to ask him if this is correct and he replied in the same tone and said "Whatever it tells you is the charge". I went over to cancel the request to print and the machine now was charging $2.00 even though I did not print anything. Apparently there is a $2.00 charge just for logging in even if nothing is printed. I went back to him to ask about the charge since I didn't print anything. He just barked at me again, "That's the charge for logging in" and then essentially dismissed me. Needless to the say the customer service in this store is unprofessional, rude and obnoxious. There is no reason to be treated this way, there are plenty of other options in the area. read more

Had the worst "call" experience, if it can even be labeled as such. I called to inquire about a package that was not delivered to my residence, but was told to hold. Little did I know that I was going to be put on hold for 15 minutes. To add to that, after I had waited for 15 minutes, the person hung up the phone. And as any normal person would do, I called back furiously, only to be greeted with the over-used, cliché line - "I apologize for that." In the end of it all, I was told that my package was not at this particular location and was instructed to contact UPS customer service for further information. On July 24, 2019 I made an appointment for a notary service at the UPS store on Columbus. I got a confirmation email. The appointment was for today, July 31 at 1:30. This morning I got a reminder email about my appointment. When I arrived for my appointment, the clerk apologized profusely saying the manager should have blocked the appointment access - there is no notary at that location! What a waste of my time. I arranged my schedule around this! Not acceptable. ( email reply after my angry email - First of all I'd like to apologize for your experience today. The representative you spoke with at the store is correct that the manager who is currently on vacation was supposed to block out this time frame. My name is James and I am the managers supervisor. I have alerted my sister store at 198 Tremont St. of your need for notary service and they should be reaching out to you immediately to accommodate your request. If this does not work for you I am a notary public myself and I am happy to come to you to take care of this need. Bad service. First, when I went to drop off an overnight package, the guys had their music on so loud just near the counter, I could barely hear him talk. Second it was a friday & I had to overnight a package, so it'd get there on monday morning atleast. They took the payment, package, but failed to mark it for delivery. So the UPS guys failed to pick it up...which meant that I lost one day. And this was immigration related and the deadline was today...because of those bozos snafu, I cant file today and wait till god-knows-when before I can file for the next stage of my immigration. What I noticed was how careless those guys were in dealing with me when I was there....I should have gone to the fedex location where I usually go... read more

I was a box holder for almost 20 years. At the end of my time, I asked them to send me my remaining mail, but I hadn't paid my rent for a couple months. They wouldn't release my mail unless I paid for the additional months. I understand policies, but I was a loyal customer for almost 20 years making a reasonable request. read more

Went here the other morning to ship a package and was greeted by Eric, the friendliest person I have ever encountered! He was super nice, extremely helpful, and very efficient. I was in and out within 4 minutes. Yes, it was more expensive than going to USPS but the speed of service and friendly staff make it worth it. Tip: if you have a resident sticker park on West Canton, which is a one-way, opposite way. Access West Canton via Warren Street and you'll get a really close parking spot. read more

I am not surprised to see all the poor reviews about this place. 5 years ago, I had a mailbox at this location for over 5 years. I was recently contacted by someone who mistakenly sent a UPS overnight letter to me at this now past address. The UPS store contacted me and said they would hold it. When i went in there to pick it up, the guy behind the counter handed me the envelope, then another young man (maybe manager) chimed in, you are going to have to pay $10 to get the UPS overnight letter. Not sure if this was policy or not, seemed very shady. I told him they should have refused the letter or told me over the phone that he was going to charge me. He was smug and arrogant. No explanation, just that he was going to have to charge me. The same crappy lazy service i remembered. read more

We had a mail box at this location for nearly five year while we were living outside the country and were regularly disappointed in the terrible service that we received. Among the many issues we had were mail being forwarded to us at our expense that was addressed to other people, catalogs being forwarded to us at our expense after we had specifically asked that they not be forwarded, the staff's inability to find and hand over packages to us that were in the store until we had come by to ask several times and the inability to follow the simple instruction of forwarding our mail to us on a monthly basis without regular reminders, When we finally closed the box on our return to the country the staff was incapable of fulfilling its legal obligation of holding all mail received during the following six months. We stopped by two or three times during that period only to be told that there was no mail for us at all, which we knew to be false. This caused us considerable inconvenience since we didn't receive credit card bills, bank statements, pay stubs etc. The only thing consistent about this place is incompetence, day in and day out. Yes, the location is very convenient but it's not worth it! read more
