I've been stationed nearby for the past year and have used this UPS store in person to arrange deliveries before. Generally, the staff has been professional. As I'm shipping out to a new location, I wanted to speak with a UPS agent about options for pre-mailing some of my stuff back home. I just called the UPS Store (Carbondale, IL location) and spoke with a young woman who told me, "We're just a retail store (?) and I can't answer any questions about anything. Call back tomorrow and speak with my manager." ??? Why even answer the phone if you "can't answer any questions about anything"? Why can't an employee answer simple shipping questions without having the manager take the call? Very strange. And very unprofessional. I'll be finding an alternative for shipping--maybe FedEx or one of the many smaller shipping options that include storage on the other end. Companies need to realize that customer service is as important as the product being offered. read more

Approximately a week ago, one of the customer service reps intentionally discriminated against my wife, who is Black. While she was standing there, the rep ignored her entirely and continued to wait on other customers, who happened to be White, even though my wife was there before them. When my wife finally said something, the rep became extremely rude, nasty, and condescending. Even one of the customers who was there reiterated to this rep that she was there before him. But the rep continued to be rude, aggressive and instigated the matter. And , because my wife stood up for herself, the second rep told her to leave the store. These people are ridiculous and the worse! Since we've made this incident public on social media, the rep has lied about what actually occurred. She was completely racist and should be fired. And so should the second rep. I don't recommend this store to anyone, especially if you're a Black person read more

This store has the most rude people working here, and terrible service! I'll never use their services again. I heard stories from others as well. Apparently this store is well known for it's lousy service and dishonest services. read more

This store has been around in some fashion for many years. It used to be Mailboxes ect. The owner at that time sold the company. I went in last week after not having been in there for several years (since it was Mailboxes, etc). There was no one in the store besides the employee. He helped me do my printing and was fairly friendly, but at times he had a bit of a sarcastic tone with me. However, while I was working on my stuff, a woman came in who wanted to mail something. She wanted to do it inexpensively. The employee was rude and short with her. She handled it well, she was almost apologetic (the customer). I paid my $40 and left. I wish I would have said something to the employee about his tone. My dad went in the store yesterday. He had a similar experience. The story was busy, the employees were rude and not helpful. He was having a hard time with making the copies he needed. Turns out, they had given him a bad copy key. He ended up leaving and making the copies he needed at home. I won't be back when I am in town based on these two experience, I don't suggest others go here either. It is sure not the same store David Klaproth was running years ago. read more

I have had a mailbox with this store for over six year. I can honestly say the service has steadily gone down hill since becoming the ups store from MBE. I am at the point now that next time I am in the Carbondale area I will close my account and take my busniess somewhere else. read more

the guy who waited on us was. very rude. Matt. we had 4 boxes that had arrived several days ago and had not been notified that they were there. he said that next. time he would. charge $2/ day. I told him that his phone automated system was difficult to use. he said to call corp. he told a phone customer that to use his computer to fill out a form would coat $1/ min. didn't event thank us nor say good bye. not going back there. Do NOT use UPS Mail Boxes Etc. All of the stores are local franchises, so if you ever have any serious problems, you will get ZERO support from UPS or MBE at a corporate level. Your contracts are with your LOCAL franchise owner, not corporate UPS, and not corporate MBE. So, if your local store goes out of business, they will just drop the ball completely and you are stuck with ZERO support from MBE or corporate UPS. They don't even have your contract information or credit card information to give you a refund. And you will be the one running around changing your address yet again, and trying to track down your mail, notifying customers of your address change, standing in line at the Post Office to get your held mail, doing your change of address forms, etc., So good luck trying to get a refund from UPS. They don't have any of your records, contracts or anything to even give you a refund. That's all kept by the local franchise guy, NOT UPS or MBE! Here's my story of the terrible experience I had with UPS/MBE: I set up a mailbox at my local UPS store for a new small business I had started. After putting the address on business cards and making changes to web site and marketing materials, the local store proceeded to go out of business. No one at UPS bothered to notify me, I simply found an "Out of Business" notification taped to the store window. I had to drive to another town to get any back-logged mail and they proceeded to give me someone else's mail. I then had to drive back again and return it. The mail was things like a child support check for a woman in my home town. I asked it he would make sure it got returned or delivered to her. He said that was not his job and he was doing corporate a favor by simply holding this mail for them. I then drove to the post office get any additionally held mail, and they said I need to do a change of address because the mail would be return to sender soon. I then was supposed to drive to another town to a different UPS local store that might honor my previous contract with the other local guy. I was frustrated so I called the MBE 888 number and it said they were on memorial day holiday (this was on wednesday, 2 days after the holiday). I then call UPS 800 number and they said they couldn't help me because its an MBE problem and problems like this are the responsibility of the local store. I said my local store was out of business, they said there is nothing they could do, but they would have a local marketing person contact me within 24 hours. Three days later, I still had not been contacted and called the 800 number back. They said nothing they can do, someone will contact me in 24 hours. Again, no contact, so I submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. After another week of back and forth with several people. Finally, MBE support asked what they could do to compensate me. I said simply give me something in return like 6 months free or anything to help alleviate the hassles and expenses of me having to waste my time running around and now the expense of redoing my business cards and marketing materials. And I still have to go back to stand in line again at the post office to do a change of address once I get a new address somewhere else!! They then contacted me and said it was all set and the other town would honor my existing contract. I said, what? I thought you were going to compensate me for my costs. They said, they have, they are honoring the original contract. I said I want a refund. They said they don't have any of my records, because its all franchises and they don't even know how much I paid for my account. So, now I need to find my old receipt, mail it to corporate, and then they will process a refund. I'm not holding my breathe. What a hassle. Its the typical big corporation excuses of its not my problem, thats another department, or the local franchise, or the wholly owned subsidiary (MBE in this case). Well then why does it say UPS in huge letters on every local store? You should know that UPS does NOT back these stores and you will be stuck with all the headache and all the legwork if you have problems with a local store. Its says UPS, but its not, your contract is just with a local guy down the street who will do what he wants with your mail and what he wants with his store (including closing it without notifying you or delivering your mail). read more

Customer Service awful. Impatient and rude, rude, rude. Often understaffed. Will not return unless I have no choice.

From now on I will only go to the UPS Mail Box Store on the Saturdays the Young man is there. He always helps me and multitasks with other customers and never has a rude tone. I have gone to the store before and the lady there used to be so sweet and helpful, now, if I go on a Saturday and she is there I get a condescending tone and it feels like I'm bothering her being there. Customers should feel welcome and comfortable when PAYING FOR SERVICES. read more

I have been going to this store for about 8 months now and the 2 men and lady there have been outstanding but lately things have changed. The last 3 weeks have been awful at this location because of their recent employee. She is rude and unfriendly and I have had the displeasure of having her help me now 5 times and she is like this to every customer I see including myself. I would rather wait in a 20 person line for the young man who works at night then have her help me again. I do a lot of business here but I would rather pay more somewhere else then deal with someone like her. Ill be going either to marion or Staples from now on. read more

I've been shipping packages out of here for a few months now and haven't really had much problems with the store itself until last week. I came in to drop a package off that was already pre-paid and had postage printed on it already, so I would normally just drop it off and head out. Obviously the employee in there last week had a problem with that when they never had before. He was on the phone and there was one guy in line so I just walked up, whispered I was just dropping the package off, so not to interrupt, then began to walk out when he spoke in a rude tone that I had to wait in line, to which I repeated I was just dropping it off it's already paid for, thinking he had just not heard me, and he once again spoke rudely saying so is this guy in line (he probably wasn't) I was already walking off when he said that the second time so he said "okay whatever, have a good day" in a sarcastic tone. Great job buddy, not only will I never come to this store again, but I won't use UPS ever again because this isn't the first problem I've had with them, and I'm not going to pay the extra money to have a truck pick up my packages. read more
