NOTE: As of March 2006, this store has been re-located to 3501 N. Southport I've rented mailboxes at a few different Mail Boxes Etc/UPS Stores over the years, they are ideal for business-related mail, and a big big plus of renting a box at a UPS Store vs. US Post Office Boxes is that the store staff will be able to sign for package deliveries & hold them until you can pick them up. You can also ship packages through them (via UPS only, of course), they will even be able to provide supplies & assistance in packaging your shipment if necessary. I signed up for a mailbox at the Southport location because their staff & hours were very good (they used to be open on Sundays, but I believe that stopped once UPS took over). read more

Yay! So efficient, well staffed, well organized...and the staff are SO NICE. I want to give a big THANK YOU to Dominic, who notarized our documents, and Donald, who witnessed them. It had been surprisingly difficult to accomplish this seemingly simple task. But the guys here were very nice and took care of the service immediately. While they were taking care of my stuff, I also noticed how good the service was for everyone else: the people coming in with packages and other things were taken care of promptly and there was never a line. I had a complicated print job and the guys were very kind and patient with my requests.

I came here close to rush hour which may be why my experience was so bad, but that should not serve as an excuse. I arrived to the store and it was busy already. I stood there waiting for my turn. However, once I got to the front of the line, I was rushed and was met with attitude when I asked for a letter sized UPS envelope to mail my package. The employee told me I had to buy one. I tried to explain that I have used the UPS envelopes to send this same type of package before and the guy kept insisting that I was wrong. With continued questioning, I got my usual envelope to show him how I am able to fit my stuff in the bag with extra room. I hate that he tried to up-charge me by insisting by buy an envelope when the UPS ones work as well...and are free. Will not be coming here again. read more

This is my go to spot for any deliveries I have. I only stopped here out of convenience because they are near my work place, but after the great customer service I experienced ( helped by CJ) I will go out of my way to keep my business here. After I wrote this review, the owner contacted me, apologized and went above and beyond to make up for the bad experience I had in the store. He said that they had a "no packing" policy in the store to prevent people from packing large amounts of belongings for shipment (like if they or moving) and that the employees didn't understand the policy at the time of my visit. The owner said the policy had been explained and that problem had been cleared up. I understand that people may not understand the specifics of a policy they are asked to enforce, but that doesn't explain the unnecessary and extremely rude and dismissive behavior of the person I had contact with at the store that day. That said, I can't change my rating...it truly reflected my experience. On the other hand, I truly appreciate the owner's follow-up and effort to improve the service his customers receive. I'm also glad that Yelp is of benefit to business owners, as well as people seeking quality services and experiences. I hope you will give this store a shot. I think there is a strong possibility that you will have a good experience there. read more

Five Stars!! The best crew in town. Each time I've printed artwork here, I've received first class service with multiple employees communicating efficiently and helping me in a very personable, friendly way -- while also helping each and every person who comes in. Not too sure what is with the negative reviews, I always see people walking in and out smiling. I mean they have a bowl of candy at their front desk. DISREGARD THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS. Many of them sound like hard to please customers who don't want to wait in line for their turn or pay the pricey cost of shipping. Come on people! These guys are awesome! The store is busy every time that I have gone in and they do a good job at moving swiftly with the small staff that they have, while also making sure to get things done correctly. I've never had any issues with packages that I've shipped from this store which is what matters most to me. It's efficient service and I trust them. Despite what other reviews say, they have always been polite. The store has been there for a long time and it's so convenient to stop by there and then get my other errands done in the same area. Terrible. They sent my package which was a merchandise return out USPS without telling me or offering me any option. When they do this the package is not insured and no guaranteed delivery by UPS. The package was lost. I called them and asked what we could do and the answer was NOTHING and that I was not insured bc they sent the package USPS and not UPS. The gentlemen I spoke to was unfriendly and useless. I will pick another UPS store if I ever have to use them again. I am out over $150.00 of return merchandise plus the $12.00 shipping charge. read more

Avoid. Scammers. Don't pay cash. The guys who work here during the day will up charge you on things saying its a store policy for labels or other print out so they can pocket the difference. I suspected $3 per page was a lot for a print out. I sent my boyfriend in after with a credit card and they charged him the normal rate of like 30 cents per page. Be careful! Scam artists at work! I love this UPS store. I come here fairly frequently to send the most ridiculous things, namely audio tour equipment. They are always super nice and friendly, and package my shit up with lots of bubble wrap and care. I've also just discovered that they have candy at the register. Thanks to UPS I'm enjoying some gobstoppers, which I haven't consumed since high school, and skittles. What's not to love? read more

We love the UPS Store on Southport! Bob is one of the most generous, kind business owners in the neighborhood. For the past several years, he has selflessly provided free shipping and packing supplies for the Candy Buy Back at Growing Smiles. He ships over 800 pounds of unwanted Halloween candy overseas through Operation Gratitude to military service people. No matter the volume of boxes, he is always prepared to ship everything with no hiccups which is impressive considering the large volume of packages all at once. On a personal note, I've always dropped off my packages at his store with timely deliveries, no damaged packages and friendly service. Thank you, Bob! read more

I went in to mail my computer. They were going to charge me $20 for shipping and $30 for packaging. No thanks. I went home and packaged it myself. When I went back, they refused to take it because it wasn't their packaging. I walked across the street to Fedex and shipped it for $12. read more

Post Christmas there are a ton of returns and exchanges and whatnot that are inevitable. Well as part of this my boyfriend needed to return some merchandise (and the vendor had very strict rules and deadlines if the return was going to be accepted!!). As he's traveling for work, I stepped in to help out. I decided on a whim to duck into the UPS to see if they could help me get it shipped. My package was: A) not packed B) lacking a signed return form that I needed to get faxed from my boyfriend C) it had to get back to the vendor pronto Sheresse (sp?) was so incredibly helpful and wonderfully efficient. She helped me by: A) packing it up all nice to make sure it got there in one piece (just $2). B) waiting around for the fax to come in from my boyfriend, which she then included in the package for me ($1) C) ensured it would get there well in advance of the vendor deadline (& it didn't cost a fortune!) I had such peace of mind that the package was well taken care of, had everything it needed, and would go out in time. Will definitely be going back! read more

Unfortunately, I experienced some of the worst customer service in a long time at this UPS store. After experiencing issues with a package I sent and was confused on what action I needed to take next, one employee (Dominic, I think) told me to "Deal with it". Wow! I was shocked after paying for a service to be treated so poorly. This store definitely needs a refresher course on delivering a great customer experience. Do yourself a favor (and save a few dollars) and give your business to the FedEx Kinko's across the street. I know I will! read more

I had a large, unwieldy, fragile item I needed to ship, and all I had to do was drop it off and they took care of it. Yes, it cost me, but it was a lot better than going around town trying to find a big enough box, packing materials, etc. The report is the item arrived safely and in a timely manner. I do get the feeling that UPS prices are jacked up a little, but they seem like a good company, I like how they have a good scholarship program to help employees and sometimes their children fund college education. read more

Wow, excuse me for interrupting your conversation. Having worked many years in retail, it's polite to end your conversation and help the customer. When I got to the front desk, the guy seemed irritated that I was in there and he couldn't finish his sentence with his co-worker. Then when he handed me the receipt, he wasn't even looking at me, was facing is co-worker to talk, and didn't even say "thanks or goodbye". I hate rude customer service workers. I know it's not the best job working with the public but at least acknowledge the people who come into the store. read more

Wow, did I have awesome customer service here today! It was a crazy day to begin with, I had to have 5 documents notarized this A.M. I called late the night before, and asked if they had a notary and what time they open in the morning. I literally had to be walking out the door of the place by 8:31am to see my daughter graduate from Kindergarten. He said no problem, come earlier he will be there. I did, I got there at 8:20. Had my documents notarized and realized he was Tom the Owner. Great customer service, friendly, helpful and I was able to do it before opening hours all for a $5 purchase. I will be back but next time...not so early! read more

This is our local UPS store. Service is always great, staff very helpful and courteous and prices are reasonable. The facility rents mailboxes well as packs fragile, and other, items for you for a fee. Only street parking is available, so timing is important. read more
