Finding convenient UPS Store locations is more and more a thing ever since their closer partnership with Amazon. This UPS Store is very convenient - located on the ground floor just near the main entrance to the Oakland City Center Marriott and the Hertz office also co-located there. In fact, it was a visit to Hertz that brought me here. The Oakland City Center Marriott (and this UPS Store and Hertz location are) is/are convenient to the freeway, and super convenient by BART. Just get off at the downtown end of the 12th Street station (towards the front of a train travelling in the SF direction), and that puts you right cross the street! Like I mentioned, I was going to Hertz to pick up a car, and I happened to have a small Amazon return in my backpack. My plan was to find a convenient UPS location in the next day or two to return this thing, so it was a time-saving and convenient delight to find one right in front of me and literally next door to where I was going. The store itself is quite small, but neat. The staff was pleasant, welcoming, and patient (yes, it took me a while to find my return code, since I wasn't expecting to need it so soon). All in all it was a nice experience. I don't imagine myself going out of my way to go to this location, but if I do find I need a UPS Store and this one's in my path, I'll look forward to visiting again. read more

This is my go-to UPS drop off packages. Despite the cozy room, service has always been fast for me. Although I've been here many times, I've been informed to keep my receipt in case it gets lost in delivery. It never happened with this location but I appreciate the consistent reminder. The staffs are really friendly and welcoming. They never fail to take notice of me entering the store and inform me that they'll be right with me. Whenever I have questions, they would give me a list of options before making a decision. During down time, it feels genuine when we strike a conversation. Definitely a neighborhood vibe. read more

My review aligns with everyone else who has recognized price gouging from this establishment. I walked to my local UPS to drop off a return like I am instructed to do. However the label was on my phone and in the past I have gone to UPS locations who have scanned the prepaid label and printed it off for a return. But not my local store. I was advised by the unpleasant employee that I would need to pay $10 to print a prepaid label hahaha $10!!! It was an insult to me that this person would expect me to believe it cost her $10 to perform the simple process of printing a sheet of paper. Do not patronize this business. read more

UPS corporate policy states, "All return packages can be given to any UPS driver or taken to any location of The UPS Store®, a UPS Drop Box, a UPS Customer Center, any Staples® location, or any UPS Authorized Shipping Outlet. There is no charge to drop off a prepaid return package." Yet, as many others have noted, this "UPS Store" wanted $8 to drop off a package. This is at best disregarding a company-wide policy in favor of increasing profits at the expense of convenience-seeking travelers (and unfortunately, local residents/workers as well) and at worst, exploitative. In response, someone at this location says, "We are a hotel convenience store that caters mostly to the hotel and convention center guests. We are always happy to receive or ship packages from the local neighborhood, but there is a surcharge for all incoming & outgoing mail from this location." Are you also happy to disregard your own company policies? Avoid this location until their ridiculous policy is changed. read more

Holy Hell and WHAT THE FUCK! I had a standard pre-paid and pre-labeled Amazon return envelop and they wanted to charge me $8 bucks to drop it off, that is; hand it to them, they scan it, drop it in a bin...and it waits for the truck. I started laughing when they told me and I'm not sorry. That's about $480 per hour...or $240 per hour if they're really slow and take their time. Seriously, GET THE FUCK OUT. Be warned, fellow human beings who seek out the most basic and courteous of parcel shipment services!! The owner of this UPS Store is bat. sh*t. crazy. I had three large boxes shipped from a UPS store in another state to this location so I could pick them up when I returned to CA. The UPS guidelines are clear across the web wherein the receiving UPS locations will hold packages 5-7 days without additional charges. Within a few days, I checked the tracking numbers and saw the boxes had been delivered to Oakland, CA. Where in Oakland, CA? It didn't say despite this being the ship-to address. So I called the store and the owner stated that the boxes weren't there. I called another nearby UPS Store (in the event they ended up there instead) with no luck. I called this store again on Monday morning and again the manager said they were not there. Flustered, I called the UPS 1-800 customer support where they opened a claim into finding the boxes, but the representative told me that an employee had signed for the boxes at this Broadway location. What the...??? Third time is a charm when I called this UPS Store and spoke, again, to the same owner. Me: "I called the UPS customer support and they told me that so-and-so signed for the boxes at your store on Tuesday evening. They should be there." Her: "Let me check the system... Yes. they are here. We don't typically hold packages because we are in a hotel and serve hotel guests." Me: "Ok. Well, that was never made clear to me when I shipped from another UPS Store to your UPS Store. I'll be by the pick them up this evening. You close at 6:00?" Her: "Yes. But you need to pick them up or there will be additional holding fees. You'll need to bring in your ID and pay the pick-up fee." Me: "Pick up fee?! No, no, no. I was never told about a pickup fee. How much is that." Her: "$40.00" Me: "I paid UPS to ship the boxes. I am not paying an additional fee as this was never disclosed to me and is not listed on the receipt or tracking email. This is a straight-forward UPS-to-UPS Store shipment and all that is left for me to do is to pick up my packages." Fast-forward to 5:45 PM, I walked in and she brought out the three boxes. -I want to state here that the store is small so when I called the first two times and she couldn't find three large boxes that have sat there for a few days, is a mystery.- Now I'm beginning to question her credibility and honesty. She handed me a piece of paper to sign and told me I owed $40. I calmly mentioned to her that I looked EVERYWHERE on both the UPS website and this store's website and there is ZERO mention (even in the fine print) of additional fees for picking up packages that have already been paid for. She nervously stated that there IS a fee and when I asked to see it listed somewhere/anywhere she (get this) told me it's listed on their brochure. -Funny. I didn't get to read that brochure when shipping the packages from Colorado!- She never actually showed me the brochure, btw. She did, however, state that she has owned this business for three months and told me that she wouldn't charge me the $40 if I never came to this location again. I politely agreed that that would be the viable option to which she began spewing all kinds of weird threats including that she would call the other stores to tell them they were wrong and even find me on social media! (Go for it, babe. Here's my Yelp profile). My friend was with me to help carry the boxes and he was stunned by what he witnessed. He and I knew I did nothing to escalate the situation but she went off the hook! Anyways, folks... there are other nearby UPS Stores which would be more suitable for your shipping and pickup needs. Stephanie was my rep and she stressed me out. I show up 10 minutes before closing just to drop off some prepaid labels and a couple of package scans. You can tell she hates her job because the look she gives you when she thinks you might risk the places closing at 5:01pm instead of 5:00pm is scary. She yells questions over me trying to tell her which scan is for which package and that's only slowing both of us down. She refused to take a package because it was over 16 inches even though it had a prepaid label and never opened in the original box Amazon shipped it in. I'll have to goto a different store because I couldn't stand her impatient angry tone. I was a friendly customer the entire time, didn't try and waste any time. Incredible service marked by immense kindness. My girlfriend sent a package to my Mom at the Oakland Marriott, where she was staying, so that she could bring it to me in the hospital next door. I went home before the package arrived. When my girlfriend told me it was still there, I called UPS and spoke with William Turner. I don't know that I've interacted with someone so generous and compassionate. He went above and beyond, again and again, to make sure that I got the package as affordably and swiftly as possible, continuing to check in with me until I did. First Ann helped me hunt down packages that were FedEx'd to the building, but for some reason didn't make it up to their store (where all hotel packages go regardless of the vendor who sent them). Stephanie, the franchisee of this store, went above and beyond to assist me with a UPS shipment that neither originated nor delivered to her location. She had absolutely no stake in the game, yet she showed great empathy regarding a missing package that was going to "make or break" Thanksgiving for our family. The contact she made with the customer service center on my behalf prompted multiple concerned calls from them throughout the day culminating in their location of the misrouted package just in time for Thanksgiving. New management!!! Like others I swore off this store forever because they used to charge a drop off fee. Today I had to come in to ship a package for a client and was ready for a war over $8 but instead met the new manager William who said the first thing he did was get rid of the fee. Yessss! This is the closest location to wework where I spend my time and I'll be back Pro tip: because they are part of hotel they can take labeled FedEx boxes too even though they are a UPS store. The clerks in this store are very unprofessional. They told me they could not help me with a UPS shipment. That is understandable but then they refused to help find a person, place or even phone number to call for more information. When I asked how could that be, they told me it wasn't their responsibility to help me with UPS-related issues. "We've only been open for 6 months so how are we supposed to know?" I dropped off a vertical 6 pack of Frank Family Winston Hill to ship back to Atlanta. I paid $20 to cave the owner to contact FedEx for pickup. Additionally I asked for him to put Fragile on the box in several places. The box arrived under damaged but no help from the owner. Marriott Oakland should kick him out! read more

DO NOT USE this location for any type of shipping. I was there this morning because they are supposed to be open at 730am (which is earlier than most other UPS locations). When I arrived the door was locked with a note saying "back in 5". A lady outside informed me that the guy who worked there had left a couple minutes ago to go downstairs and get some packages and would be back any minute. I then waited over 10 minutes for him to return. I would have been annoyed but fine if that was the end of the story and I had been able to drop off my PREPAID package without further incident. Instead when he finally returned and looked at the package and prepaid label he wanted to charge me an ADDITIONAL $8.00 for a "pickup fee". You have got to be kidding me?!? WHAT A SCAM!!!! Took my package and since it was now after 8am found another UPS store and dropped off my return without any problem or additional fee. read more
