In the age of Amazon where you can get same day 3-hour delivery or simple just go to Office Depot in Emeryville (10 min drive). The only excuse is negligence and poor management. This UPS has no infrastructure and no policy regarding returning fax. Im expected to just show up and ask for my fax but with no toner no fax are printing. They have been out of toner since Saturday 4/4 and writing this review 4/8. Maybe at this point.. don't offer a service at all if you can't maintain supplies? Had to return more than a few Amazon purchases, and since dropping off at a UPS store was an option, I figured it would be a great opportunity for me to finally check out the store, which is literally a 5 minute walk from home. I was there for awhile, since there was an issue with one of my QR codes. I stepped to the side to make a quick phone call to Amazon and while there (maybe 15 minutes) the traffic in the store goes by pretty quickly. There were a few times where the line started to nearly reach the entrance, but everything seemed to be serviced pretty quickly, and this was with only one clerk. Dropping off my returns was pretty simple. Scan the QR code and drop off the item. I also received a receipt detailing each return and tracking number, which was helpful. Less than two minutes later, I received notification my return was processed. The clerk was also very pleasant and helpful. It was expensive but....I was asking for a lot. I think they don't have the best reviews because no one bothers to rate them when they get good service. Poor customer service, they messed up the print job on the label sheets I provided (which are expensive) One would think they would give some sort of discount but you would be mistaken they still charged me full price. This place currently has a 2.7 star for a reason. The representative said they charge $3.5 to print a label for a return. Of course, that's crazy. Discovered that they charge $3 to allow the customer to send the label to the store's email and 50¢ to print. Crazy. UPS stores are almost always painful to visit. Long lines and overstressed employees. The UPS at 360 Grand was the first one I visited where I was pleasantly surprised. The cluttered environment is about the same as all of them, so it wasn't that...it was the employees and the customer service. My son and I were both in a hurry to get notarizations and a next-day packet sent out before they closed. Then we were delayed when we realized we were missing a required item we left on the printer. We had to ask someone else to fetch and deliver the document. The employees were patient and understanding and reassured us that we'd make it while we waited. In particular, the notary was very sweet (I'm sorry I forgot her name). She coached us that for $35 fewer dollars, our packet would arrive only one hour later the next day. It was night and day to other local UPS outlets' service. I would go back even though it's further for me! read more

I have to begin with saying, this service is a bit expensive. They offer all of the same features that a lot of other services offer, at a premium cost. The start up fee, $35, is a bit pricey as well and not publicized. That aside, the customer service here is friendly and helpful. They all seem very approachable. Well, UPS does it again! I ordered something from Wisconsin to arrive in a small box, 2lb. weight. The company gave me a shipping order number to track through UPS, which I did. It was to leave on Jan 14 and arrive Jan. 20. All's good except when Jan 20 rolls around I track the box to see that it had been delivered with a confirmation message, "at front door". The exact time was given. I was home and no package was delivered or anywhere in sight. I did a thorough check beyond the front door. Nothing. It told me in the message I could report a problem so I went through the whole sequence of automated responses only to find I need to set up an account, which I reluctantly did, and put in the tracking number. I got a message saying that they couldn't do anything because they handed it off to "a local UPS branch". "Contact the sender". REALLY??!! So, I contact the sender and let them know, and lo and behold the next day I hear a box thrown against my front door, obviously from a distance. I opened the door to find the box there! What inefficiency, and WHY would they CONFIRM on the tracking that it was delivered at a specific time on a different day? Simply unbelievable and waste of time and aggrevation. read more

Just to provide context five months ago their Yelp rating was 2.7 stars. Not a lot of improvement made.... I mailed a package on December 14 and when I went in this store, it was disorganized, packages everywhere, and so little Customer Service but it was the closest UPS at the time and I refuse to ship through USPS. I was only shipping home some minor gift to my family, so I wasn't concerned about insurance and I just asked them to send it out the cheapest rate - since again they were minor, but I didn't know that they're ground defaulted to the USPS - the same people I didn't want to use. Fast forward, it's Christmas Eve and my package still isn't delivered and was stuck with no tracking. I tried to call after Christmas, but IF they answer their phone, they are so unhelpful, hard to understand, and do not seem like they care or want to be there. I know they probably get a lot of calls, especially around the holidays about the same topic - not an excuse though. I was told that I had to wait 14 days and then I could call USPS because it was actually their delivery. I waited 14 days and USPS told me I have to take it up with UPS because now it's over the 14 day limit. I call this store again and again before finagling talking to someone and being told that my claim is filed and they'll be in touch. That was Jan 6th. Fast-forward once more to January 15, package still hasn't arrived. Still haven't got a call back about my claim and I'm wondering where everything stands. I call UPS, the person this time was very nice and friendly, but she did admit that she was new and would pass along my information for help to the manager. Incidentally, my package actually did get delivered to the right city today, but only to the distribution center. It wasn't left at their door or scheduled for redelivery for whatever reason. That's a USPS issue I know, but still frustrating. But now my concern is when I talk to the UPS (like other comments, mentioned) they're so concerned with the policy that they're not concerned with the fact it's poor customer service and it's not encouraging me to continue using their services. I simply asked if I can get a refund, because I was told 5 days and then it took over 30 days. At the very least can I get a credit towards the store? Can you do something to make up for the fact that your business is delivering packages that I'm sending and yet you're telling me you can't guarantee if/when the package will be delivered. What else are you providing? Im not sure what I paid for other than postage and putting my package on a truck (a truck that's not even theirs). The manager emailed me back simply to say that it doesn't apply for a refund. I understand if there's policies, I understand fine print, and I didn't get insurance, but her message could have been auto generated it was so cold. The fact it doesn't take consideration that I did not get the service that I paid for and was weeks delayed. Hell even delivery for restaurants care if they're on time. And if you're going to use USPS for your ground delivering, then you need to make it a lot more clear. Use this location at your discretion, but not for me. I expect a generic response from the store. It's over and done with, water under the bridge at this point. But I just want everyone else to be aware. read more

AND here we go again!!! Another incorrect delivery attempt AND this time the driver decided without my consent to transfer my package to a "location for pick up." This is what it has come to? You do not even know whether a person has the means to and/or is physically able to travel to a pickup location and you just decide for them without any communication whatsoever???? The vendor paid for the service to send the package to my HOME not to a drop off location where I then have to travel to to pickup. You now want me to complete your job because apparently you cannot properly do your job and deliver packages to the ONE AND ONLY BUILDING on my street...that's right there is no other address/building on my street but mine. AND apparently we only get to have the one driver that is perfectly reliable, yes there is ONLY ONE UPS driver that delivers my packages as expected...ONE! I went into this store today to drop off an Amazon return item. The busy store owner, Rajeev, immediately welcomed me with a wide smile and, amazingly, recognized me from 16 years ago when I opened a mailbox at his store. At that time, I was impressed with his courteous and professional manner and was happy to entrust him with forwarding my mail and packages when I moved overseas a few months later. For the 5 years that I lived overseas, Rajeev provided me with an invaluable service by forwarded mail and packages to me promptly and efficiently. He must have had some magic wand because I was never charged import duty or sales tax on any package that he forwarded to me. Most manufacturers that have a presence online can't be bothered with a small market like that of the country I was in and don't ship there. Because of Rajeev's forwarding service, I could order anything online and have it shipped to his store and immediately forwarded to me overseas. Locals began to get envious and, soon I devloped an informal role as "the guy who can get anything you want from America". So .... this store is highly recommend for all things related to packaging, shipping and forwarding, as well as having a wealth of moving supplies for anybody relocating. read more

So per amazon directions I brought my return item to UPS. So what UPS suppose to do was to scan the code that I had on my phone and print out the return label and pack it for me and send it back to amazon. Now when I got there I packed my item already at home so all they had to do was to print out the label and tape that on my package!!!! Simple as that! But the employee and the manager both were complete morons! They said oh there's no return address or label on your package???!!!!! Excuse me!!!!! Wth? I was keep telling them listen I have the code and all you need to do is to scan this code and your system will print out the label with all the address that you want. But them two won't even listen. Both of them read the instructions (I've attached the screen shot of the instruction) and still same response. I've done it before and it was exact same location. So I went to the UPS store that located on Franklin st and I didn't even have to say anything. They know what they're doing. They've earned their pay. So I went back and showed them the receipt and they said "oh we don't have the printer"!!!!! Lame je*ks. Long story short I don't understand how they got this job! Wasted my time and energy! I was hesitant at first due to all the reviews but this was the closest one so I figured I'd try first at least. I called ahead to make sure they could take care of me and the lady on the phone sounded nice and reassuring. ( I called to see if they would charge me for taping it or not ) Fast forward 10 minutes later, I find street parking ( thanks to the parking fairy ) and proceed to enter. I have box and the item I'm trying to ship. I already have my shipping label printed and just needed help with taping it. The lady who than assisted me taped my box and gave me my receipt for dropping it off. Overall, not a bad experience but wasn't outstanding. Just okay. Reason for my 3 stars. Been trying to find this mysterious person they claim "works" 9-2 yet for the past week every time I run by (on my 30 minute lunch break mind you because people have to work all day and these hours SUCK) theyre never there. Called in advance yesterday and they were off for the day and called in advance today and was told yeah 9-2. I rush over on my lunch at 12. Pay for parking. Get there, wait in line and an called at 12:20 and "notary" is on lunch! How about tell me theyre there 9-12 on lunch from 12-12:30 and then done at 2?!?..
