Complete bozos. I had a very important time sensitive document to notarize that required multiple parties to coordinate at a rendezvous point. I got in touch with this location the day prior to assure a Notary would be available on the date and time and I was assured that they would. When I arrived I was rudely told "No notary until tomorrow". I say, I was told differently. "I don't know nothing..." and dude walks away. I came in today because I needed a LiveScan and 2x2 passport style photo done. I didn't have to make an appointment for the LiveScan, which was a total plus... just did a walk-in. Sergio helped me and he was amazing! Great customer service skills. He was very helpful and professional. read more

This store really makes things easy; the staff was great and very helpful. Here is my experience........ I had to get live scan done for a new job and my I9 form notarized not exactly the most fun thing in the world to take time out of your day to do, but a friend of mine recommended I go to the UPS Store to get it done. As my fingers were being rolled I noticed someone getting some photos printed out and asked if they do passport photos because I needed to renew my passport fairly soon, Tom, the guy helping me( looked like the owner, couldn't tell), said they do, so I figured why not get that done too. It was nice to get all these errands done in one place since I don't have all the time in the world. Photos turned out great. I can't speak for the shipping or PO box services, but if I ever need to ship something or anything else I would use this store for what it's worth. read more

They have Larry and Curly working as clerks and the manager is Moe. The incompetence is beyond moronic. And they threaten you and don't respond if they mess up your shipping, and you are on your own to figure it out. Definitely avoid if you can and go a block away to somebody else. I can't believe these people are trusted to be a notary public or do finger printing. I had the same problem as the others with my overseas package. A simple sorry would have been nice to hear from the manager Tom but he avoided returning my calls for a week. Finally the package cost me $456 to get back. read more

Stopped in early afternoon and was helped immediately. I had two boxes to ship plus I needed passport photos. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes with 2 photos and the receipts for my boxes. i'm shocked no one has reviewed this place yet. i decided to send my family's gifts via UPS because I didn't want to deal with the post office, but i'm totally regretting that decision right now. let me start from the beginning... Saturday, not too busy, suprising. Cost of shipping of a not so big/heavy package to Philadelphia before 12/25: $46 and change Cost of shipping of a not so big/heavy package to Philadelphia around 12/28: $15 and change Me losing 10 minutes of my life that i'll never get back because the dude who was helping me decided to stop in the middle of my transaction to help some jacka$$ who can't fill out a certified receipt: AGGREVATING Lack of acknowledgement that he just wasted 10 mins of my life and temper: EVEN MORE AGGREVATING So it's Monday...I'm on UPS.com to track the package. The response in bright red reads something along the lines of "there's no shipping information for the tracking number you provided"= Me, panicked. I called the store, spoke to tom and so far has made more effort to help than anyone else in there. I read him the tracking number from the receipt I was given. Nothing. Nada. What package????? = Me, on the verge of being livid and even more panicked. tom offered to take my number to call me back after some investigating. Five minutes go by, the cell phone rings, i sigh a bit of relief until he said "what's your name and the zip code of where its going? i'll have to call you back, still can't find it." more panic... phone rings again, dude tells me they found it. good. still not very pleased with their customer dis-service from Saturday, but tom earned them this one star. thanks tom, maybe the others should learn from you. read more

After reading the 3 featured reviews, all negative, I had to write in to say I use this place regularly for shipping and have found every person there to be knowledgeable, helpful and friendly, and there's rarely any wait at all. It wouldn't occur to me to go anywhere else. read more

If you are going to be a Notary, get it right. This place failed to accomplish this fundamental requirement.

I have to return this, would you print a label out for me? "WE don't do that. You can use the computer over there, $2.50 blah blah." In a totally gangsta and rude way. The UPS in my town does it and it's to the discretion of the store owner. His computer wasn't working.....this is by far the worst UPS experience I've ever had. Seems like reviews for this place are all over the map. Ive had 50/50 experiences here, depends on the mood of who is working there. I come here regularly and they are either really helpful or a pain in the ass to deal with. Probably the WORST experience ever. I would rather go to ANY other UPS store in the country than this one. Tom, the owner and store manager was utterly useless - we shipped a package through UPS and paid 100 bucks for it. Turns out that the ups guy had put in wrong information and Tom would just blame it on us saying we "signed off" on something we didn't even know happened. The package was stuck location and Tom said it was actually being returned and we'd have to pay 100 bucks AGAIN to resend something that was urgent, with not even our fault! Instead of helping resolve we actually called the carrier ourselves and are getting it resolved now. read more

What a RACKET!!!! This place is incredible! I understand that it's a franchise and that they need to do a little retail marking up but this is INSANE! I needed to ship some large paintings to be packed in one box. I took them to this UPS store and they wanted to charge me $238 to ship to TX. I could fly there and hand deliver for that price! That price included the $50 box fee. Huh. I decided I could handle it myself. I went to Bellam storage and boxes (who will be getting a 5 star review on here next) who were incredibly helpful in helping me to get the materials for $20 and teaching me how to pack the paintings professionally. Then, off to the UPS hub/shipping center on Kerner (also VERY nice and helpful). How much did it cost to ship from there, you ask? Ohhhh....$58.00!!! That is a $120 markup folks! Ridiculous. Boxing my own stuff took only a little extra effort. Not time I had to spare, really, but totally worth it! read more

Do not go to the UPS Store in Montecito for Notary service! We needed a document notarized in order to complete a passport application. When the notary signed his portion of the document, he wrote the incorrect date. My husband commented on the mistake, and the notary did a poor job of fixing his mistake. We submitted the forms, and now, weeks later, I have received word from the National Passport Center that the form is invalid because of the notary's date. My husband returned to the UPS Store to give them an opportunity to fix their mistake, and although they did not charge us to notarize the new form, they did refuse to reimburse us for the cost of overnighting the correctly notarized form to the Passport Center and the additional cost for the completed passport to be returned to us via overnight post. Both of those charges cost us $30 more than we would have had to spend had the notary done his job correctly in the first place. read more

I normally go to Northgate UPS in Terra Linda because of their excellent service and don't like to go to Montecito Plaza UPS on 3rd Street because their inconsistent service, but I was at Trader Joe's, so I decided to drop off my Amazon Return. I packed and sealed my return box in a bag, so UPS just has to scan QR code off my phone. But the scotch tape on the bag started to peel off, so I asked the clerk if he could just tape the corner for me. He then said "We charge $1 for the tape." What? By the way, did he or the franchise owner of this place know that Amazon site clearly states "You do not need to print a label or package your return. Take your return to The UPS Store, and they will scan your return code, label and pack your return."! I was nice enough to even pack and taped the bag, but they wanted to charge $1 for an inch of tape? Not that I didn't have $1, but it's a matter of principle. I told him "Never mind. I'll go to Northgate UPS." and left. I'm used to the great service at Northgate UPS in Terra Linda that gets 4.5 stars. The service at this Montecito Plaza UPS on 3rd Street location was marginal to begin with, and now this place definitely does not deserve 3.5 stars. I don't know whether the owner of this UPS doesn't know Amazon Return Policy or he/she hires incompetent employees, but I should have demanded that he should tape it up for free. Anyway, I would never go back there. read more

I have had a mailbox at this store for several years. I use it because I like to pick up may mail after 7pm. I pay my box rent with a money order. Two of the last three times they have insisted that I did not pay. I keep my receipts and have to take them in to show that I have paid. I went to pick up my mail tonight, and there was a plastic box locking me out of the box. Someone was there and I told him that I had paid my box rent, but didn't have the receipt on me. I could not get my mail and now will have to make another trip during business hours and take my receipt in to show that I did pay my box rent. What a continuous hassle! My guess is that they hope that I don't have a receipt so that I will pay them more than once. Run away from this place! I am! read more

I have been gong here for some time and they have generally been fine. However, last time I had do an Amazon return, I gave them the label, paid the one dollar and forgot about it. A few days later, it turns out the package went missing , and then afterwards it went all the way to New Jersey, and then came back to me in California. The problem--the guy at the store failed to take off the old labels. That caused us all sorts of problems getting it figured out. So any rate, you need to be a little careful here. Its a small business and they try their best but this was a major screw up. read more

This store provides horrible customer service. They regularly are unable to provide notary services during advertised hours and customers are treated with little regard. After waiting for a half an hour for their notary to arrive, he came in with wet hair and yawning. No apology and not even a civil greeting. And when I asked for a discount because of the cost to me for losing a 1/2 hour of pay, this request was refused because he blamed bad traffic. Funny I had to come through the same traffic, and I arrived 10 minutes after his scheduled start time. I read more

I used this store when I was down in Marin teaching to send a birthday package from my husband to my dad; easy. When it got complicated was when my dad (80), returned the package to the store instead of to us bc the hat didn't fit. This store is 1.2 hrs from my house, so it's a little awkward to just head on over to pick it up. Enter Sergio; what a gentleman. I called in and he agreed to store it for 5 business days; their policy. Then, we I realized I wasn't going to be able to make it, he readily and pleasantly agreed to hold it over until the following Monday when we were going to be driving through the area. We were headed back through Bay Area traffic and weren't going to make it, so we called and asked if he could just put the package outside the door so we could pick it up after 6:30 closing time. Sergio volunteered to stay over the 10 minutes until we could arrive rather than leaving our package out to potentially get taken; which we were prepared for. He went out of his way, in every conversation and interaction we had, to make sure I was taken care of and covered. What a great human, and a great employee. Great experience at this UPS Store in Montecito Plaza today! I had to send in an Apple device for repair, and Apple Support had sent me an email, telling me to show the email to a UPS Store Rep, and they would take care of the rest. One look at my email from Apple support, and the UPS staff at store #2623 in Montecito Plaza were able to look up the repair id and ship my return. I had first gone to the UPS Store $1746 on 4th Street (near San Anselmo & Mountain Mike's Pizza), where the staff member on duty (there was only one) was rude, unable to help me, and suggested there was phishing involved with the Apple email. He was even rude to the senior Apple Care Rep that I was able to get on the phone using their 800 number. Anyway, I'll be taking my future business to the UPS Store #2623 in Montecito Plaza! It's only 3 miles from the other store, and a MUCH BETTER choice! read more

It's been a while that I had used the services at the San Rafael UPS store, but today I walked out very disappointed. I walked in with 2 large packages and a toddler. The packages had been prepaid. I asked Ramon at the counter for some packaging tape and he pointed behind me. Of course at this point my toddler was running off. Once I collected her, I turned toward the area he had pointed me to and looked for a table or such with tape. Didn't see such and asked again. He pointed to the wall with tape for sale. I asked again" This one?". He nodded and I proceeded to take the tape and wrap my packages. I mail packages quite often with prepaid labels and have never had a problem with using the stores packaging tape. I guess I shouldn't have assumed that tape was complementary... I finished up and was about to leave when Ramon said" So you just owe the $10 for the tape". Not once did he state that the store does not provide free tape. Even though he clearly knew that I wasn't assuming a charge. He simply could have let me know about their policy to begin with. I wouldn't have walked out with 2 large packages and a toddler over a roll of tape. The way he approached the situation was very unprofessional and unethical. He also let me know that my prepaid label doesn't earn them any profit, which indicated to me that i am a less valued customer. Ramon clearly doesn't understand the concepts of repeat business and word of mouth and he would benefit from a lesson in communication. read more
